Cambridge Diet 5 stone goal

Pompbear · 02/01/2013 10:24

Anyone want to join me? I'm starting tomorrow. Have had great success on CD before but 2 babies and a hellish 2012 have led to a terrible weight gain.

I know some people disapprove, but it works for me. Previously I used it to lose weight and then maintained eating a healthy diet with plenty of protein, veg and occasional fruit and starchy veg, a bit of brown rice every now and then. Nuts, seeds, small amounts of dairy. It worked really well and I felt great for years. As soon as I started snacking on sugary crap because I was so stressed and upset, the weight piled on and I craved carby meals. I couldn't face my usual healthy , tasty meals which I previously really enjoyed. Totally vicious cycle. Anyway, the stress has gone and I'm determined to fix my weight and my health.

I want to keep this thread positive, motivational and free from talk of food and cheating!

Start weight 14.3 (yikes)

Thanks pippy I'm doing cd ss.

Quick question does anyone know if its ok to add to products?? Ie chilli to soup, cinnamon to porridge etc

Report
leelteloo · 17/01/2013 23:00

Well handled Pippy; we know what lots of people think of this kind of diet but its horses for courses and we're all ok on our course and don't need to be dismounted, thanks Smile.
Re adding things, I believe as long as it is a pure spice, like chilli, nutmeg, cinnamon etc its ok: but things like season all or curry powders are not ok as not a pure spice. No soy sauce or anything like that either.

morning all, day 3 for me. I had some chicken yesterday, which i think is ok to have from what i remember? doing ok, but tired.. i went to the gym yesterday too.. i do not want to get obsessed with the scales and weigh myself everyday! Am going to hold out until my first "weigh in" next wednesday.... aim to lose a stone by 18th feb

Pompbear · 18/01/2013 10:09

Atall hang in there! Day 3 and 4 are tough but you'll be on day 5 before you know it. Stick.to it and you'll lose a stone by 18th Feb!

Didn't I bang on about fibre a while ago?? Well I ran out, missed 3 days and I am regretting it! Maybe I'm v sensitive to it?

Slim and save is starting to taste funny. Not sure I can last another 3 or 4 months on it. Might have to revert back to my trusty CD Choc tetras.... even though they're so much more expensive.

You know, if we can do vlcd in the weather, we can do anything.... !

Have a good day everyone. Make sure you drink.plenty of liquid even.tho its cold. Have hot water, tea, just keep your fluid intake up.

And fibre, remember the fibre!

Thanks leel ill make sure it's only pure spice I add.

First weigh in today and lost 4lbs quite pleased with that as I'm only on day 5. Hoping for a bit more by next Friday when ill have done a full week between being weighed.

Btw discovered a great free app called daily water that tracks how much water you drink. You can also set reminders. I've found this to be really useful

ok, update.. i have had 2 shakes so far today and i am finding it tough, i need to get past this stage as if i let it go now, i will be harder to start again... i am hungry :-( only day 3 on sole source. think i have a headache setting in too

atall You can do this hang on in there. Just think tomorrow morning how will you feel if you stuck at it? And if ate something? It is worth it.

So my update...1 week in and 15lbs lighter. I know some of it's water, I know it will slow down. But so bloody what?! 15lbs wooohoooo Grin. When you've got as much to lose as I have it's great motivation.

Am well into it now and have turned into Delia in the kitchen! DH & DC have never had so many healthy home cooked meals. Eating by proxy I think.

Still enjoying S&S just had a cottage pie- nice for a change. The spag bol is lovely especially in the cold weather.

aom, you are right, i remember that feeling of waking up the next day thinking, i had succeeded the day before... ive just drank a load of water, but the symptoms are kicking in.. heachache etc.. and Im cold...
well done on your 15 pound weight loss! perfect motivation to keep going! what is S&S?

Report
AyeOopMoose · 18/01/2013 14:57

S&S= slim and save, internet based. Like CD etc, lots of choice and I think cheaper than others.

If it helps you could have a can of coke zero or dr pepper zero (no citric acid). Some people frown on this but if it keeps you going....

Hi Everyone! Glad to see lots of lbs being shifted, thats great! I really struggled in the first week and my consultant has recommended 4 packets a day now, phewwwf, at least for now! However, I am down to 12 st 12 lbs, which is fab! I am seriously intending on losing a stone by Valentines day!
Im so convinced I even bought a size 12 dress online as extra motivation:) or maybe it was just an excuse to shop....anyways! onwards and downwards! by the way to those who are worried about gaining weight back, I lost 2.5 stone in early 2012 on the Cambridge diet and 10 months later I am getting the last 2.5 off, and all those months I only gained 4 lbs. So dont worry!

Pompbear · 18/01/2013 16:57

Aye that's exactly what I do, loads of lovely home cooking. Bizarre isn't it?!

At all, hot bath and an early night to get you through the worst?

Its only for a day or so more, and this time next week you'll have lost heaps! Just get through the tough bit.

Eat some ham or chicken if you think it will help and won't lead to u going off track

Well done at all that's a great start, keep going.

I was EVIL yesterday. Poor DH. It felt like the worst PMT ever, I knew I was being awful and just couldn't stop myself Blush.

I wasn't hungry but I think I felt really resentful that it was the weekend and I wanted to "treat" myself to some nice high fat food. In the end I took myself off to bed for a couple of hours, mainly to give everyone a break!

Today I decided that I was going to go out for lunch. It was nice but in reality the thought was better than the actual food. Lesson learnt.

Back on the packs, no problems but not going to weigh until Friday now.

Have a good week everyone!

Hi everyone. So end of week 2 and "only" lost 4.5lbs last week. Bit disappointed really, but then I know I've not been drinking as much water as I should so what did I expect?

Still - wouldn't have lost a stone in two weeks any other way, so I know I should be positive. Going to see my CDC tomorrow and she's usually great to keep me motivated. I'm going to make a huge effort to drink this week and see if that makes a difference. Already had 4 glasses of water so just 4 more to go today!

Do any of you use the water flavourings or are they just a gimic?

Have a great day.

Right I'm back after my long weekend off cd. It's hard getting back into it and I've put on 2 lbs. I did enjoy the weekend though Grin.

Went to see my CDC today. She was fantastic about re-motivating me.
Did a long dog walk across the snowy fields - surely got to help!

New flavour of shake - cookies and cream. I had it hot with a teaspoon of instant coffee to get rid of the sweetness and it was alright.

After a couple of weeks I might try the new bar - yogurt something or other. New since I last did CD.

Hope everyone had a good day.

I've been mad busy trying to work at home with the dcs off school because of the snow.

School's open again now thank goodness!

I have drunk hardly any water for days because I'm just too cold. Still going tho.

I'm now 1 stone down in 2 weeks despite my slip up so pretty pleased

Cambridge diet 4 stone goal now, yay! Onwards and downwards!

Hope everyone else is doing well and keeping warm!

Well done pompbear, you will be at goal in no time.

I have my second weigh in tonight and I am looking forward to it. I hope I push over a stone off too which should be achievable although last time I did LL my second week loss was rubbish (about 1 pound) due to I think my body just taking stock. I have stuck to plan 100% though so I know I couldn't have done any better, so it will be what it will be.

My coke cravings seem to have gone although I did really miss having a glass (or several) of wine at the weekend, especially when hubby was head down in laptop doing work catchup. I know that over time this all becomes the norm and I will miss it less and less.

Already feeling slimmer, sleeping better and my skin has improved (all the water I think) so enough there to keep me motivated.

Hope everyone else is on track in this miserable cold weather!

Hi all. Weigh in last night and lost another 3lbs. Not stunning but week 2 is always a lower weight loss from experience, and it both brings my loss to over a stone and my BMI under the horrible morbid obese 40 mark - I'm just obese now yay!!

Good to all and keep going, it will all be so worth it xx

I've done CD (twice) but didn't like having to go and weigh etc and S&S seems more convenient/varied. I think there are pluses and minuses to both.

Day 1 today and I'm ok. Tip for when you're desperate or cold - a small dab of CD or S&S water flavour in hot water is lovely. It tastes like herb teas should. Herb tea always smells nice but tastes a bit meh but the water flavours are lovely. It just seems more filling than cold water.
