Cambridge Diet 5 stone goal

Pompbear · 02/01/2013 10:24

Anyone want to join me? I'm starting tomorrow. Have had great success on CD before but 2 babies and a hellish 2012 have led to a terrible weight gain.

I know some people disapprove, but it works for me. Previously I used it to lose weight and then maintained eating a healthy diet with plenty of protein, veg and occasional fruit and starchy veg, a bit of brown rice every now and then. Nuts, seeds, small amounts of dairy. It worked really well and I felt great for years. As soon as I started snacking on sugary crap because I was so stressed and upset, the weight piled on and I craved carby meals. I couldn't face my usual healthy , tasty meals which I previously really enjoyed. Totally vicious cycle. Anyway, the stress has gone and I'm determined to fix my weight and my health.

I want to keep this thread positive, motivational and free from talk of food and cheating!

Start weight 14.3 (yikes)

Tis TBH I am treating S&S as other VLCD and not calorie counting.

I just have the 4 packs but if you want to add the protein/restricted veg I'm sure you could. I just find it easier not to eat anything! I wouldn't worry about the exact calorie count.

I just have 4 packs. Any food just sends me off track.

Great loss Ayeoop!

I'm losing a pound a day at present; very happy Smile

Ever so slight blip for me. Heating broke so I've been frozen and tired and grumpy. Anyway, not dwelling on it. Back on track now!

How's everyone else? I feel the cold so much more on this diet. Thankfully British gas have fixed ours now! Its seriously miserable trying to sleep in 8 degrees!

I'm just started an evening class. It's 12 weeks so I should look.significantly different by the end of it. Can't wait!

Have a good day everyone! Just keep going

Hello atsl welcome to our group!

I'm also using up my leftover packs for now. Finally going to see my old CDC next Tuesday by which time I'll have been back on the diet a couple of weeks.

Keep going - you know the first few days are the hardest but Paracetamol sorts the inevitable headache and it is worth it!

Does anyone know which shakes taste alright mixed with hot water? Can't face cold drinks at the moment!

Have a great day everyone. Smile

thanks bho8
I am having my first shake now. Cappuccino... Im worried i will stick to it for a few days then lose motivation.. I need to think more positively. I may do what you are, see how i go then book to see a CDC.. I have previously lost 4 stone and i have put a stone back on - a slippery slope so want to do something about it now. I am 10 st 5 pounds and would like to be 9 stone 3 to 5 pounds... I am going on holiday on 18th Feb, do you think it can be done by then?!

Report
busyhouseof8 · 16/01/2013 13:33

Why not - I lost 10.5lbs last week. We know a lot of that is water in the first week, but still losing about a pound a day so your goal is achievable.

I lost 4.5 stone the first time round. I've put 2.5 stone back on (groan) so that's why I'm back in the game. I've decided that rather than beat myself up, I will just think positively that I am still more than 2 stone lighter than I was at my worst and I'm dealing with the rest.

atallskinnylatte · 16/01/2013 14:01

well done, 10.5 pounds - wow..are you doing sole source? any tips on how to survive the first 3 days? I am getting a headache already!

Report
leelteloo · 16/01/2013 17:40

I always have my choc shakes hot; either whizzed up with coffee or hot water. I only have choc shakes and veg soup as I don't like any others.
Tips for getting through first days.... None really, it's bloody hard but so worth it.
I'm coming off the diet tomorrow for a few days as I've got loads of social stuff this weekend, so I'm going to have to go through the 3 days pain again next week. I'll then do another 2 weeks souls source to bring me up to my birthday.
I just hope if I come off the cd diet I will be able to get back on: saw my bum in a shop mirror today and its still maHousive!!!!!!

Evening all. I had to post to let you all know I had my LL meeting tonight and have lost 12lb in my first week. Totally Shock but thrilled about it. Made a nice dent in the rather hefty 8 stone I want to loose.

Good luck to all still waiting for first weigh in!

Been there, done that and now my 'stable' weight is a stone heavier than I used to be and losing weight is SO much harder. I am not knocking any of you for doing CD - I did it too and lost a lot of weight. For a year. And now I am fatter. Just remember that it's a business and relies on people ending up on a yo-yo dieting rollercoaster. I wish you all the best but am not convinced that you will keep it off.

Plus - please consider the loose skin if you have lots to lose - it's too rapid for your body to cope with which is why (as an over 35) I would never consider a crash diet. I did CD as a twenty something and my skin handled it but I know it wouldn't now.

But as one who has been there and felt dreadful about my fatness - I do genuinely wish you all the best.

countrykitten have you considered that it could just be your age that is making your stable weight higher and the ability to lose weight harder? I have done LL before, lost 7st (loose skin was not an issue and I was 38 when I finished it) and have not found things any different since. Yes I gained the weight back, but like any diet if you do what you always did you will get what you always got, and for me that means I went back to eating badly. No VLCD is a work of magic that will rid you of the weight once and for all. I'm sure everyone on this thread understands that and realises that the really hard work starts when we've reached our goals. This hard work is the same no matter what route you have taken to get there, but for me plodding on 1lb or so a week at a time for 8stone is not an option I seem to be able to stick to, but the motivation of losing so fast on VLCD keeps me going to the end. The reasons I slipped back to bad eating last time were due to an emotional response to things that wont be happening again, and while I know there will be other things I have to deal with, starting a new family, miscarriages and PND will certainly not feature, so I would rather not have people spreading doom about how I probably wont keep it off before I have even started thanks. Not really sure what your motivation for jumping in on this thread was, but I will say thanks for your best wishes and ask that you comment no more please.

As I said in my post (trying to explain what can happen) I wish you all all the very the best. I have been there and know what it feels like to be depressed about my weight. Btw, I do not take kindly to being told where I can and cannot post.

ThePippy · 17/01/2013 13:38

In that case thank you for your insight country. I didnt tell you where you could and couldn't post, I asked that you please make no more comment, a request with a please! I only ask because we are all doing this regardless and this thread is supposed to be about support and positivity. All I meant was you've said your piece.

Well done Pippy. I've got my 1st week weigh in tomorrow and am looking forward to it.

It's hard but I know exactly what you mean about the rapid weight loss motivating you. We want to lose a similar amount so I agree 1-2lbs a week just doesn't cut it.

Let's all keep motivating each other and stay positive- no doom and gloom Wink
