Cambridge Diet 5 stone goal

Anyone want to join me? I'm starting tomorrow. Have had great success on CD before but 2 babies and a hellish 2012 have led to a terrible weight gain.

I know some people disapprove, but it works for me. Previously I used it to lose weight and then maintained eating a healthy diet with plenty of protein, veg and occasional fruit and starchy veg, a bit of brown rice every now and then. Nuts, seeds, small amounts of dairy. It worked really well and I felt great for years. As soon as I started snacking on sugary crap because I was so stressed and upset, the weight piled on and I craved carby meals. I couldn't face my usual healthy , tasty meals which I previously really enjoyed. Totally vicious cycle. Anyway, the stress has gone and I'm determined to fix my weight and my health.

I want to keep this thread positive, motivational and free from talk of food and cheating!

Start weight 14.3 (yikes)

Ladies,

I have been inspired by you. I did LL about 10 years ago and lost about 5 stone, kept it off for years then met DH and slowly crept up and up and.....

Two DC later and I find myself needing to lose 8st. I would like to say I feel better for writing that. But I don't I feel ashamed and unhealthy. I hate the fact that already I struggle to keep up with DC and feel judged by people when I walk down the street. I am dreading going back to work after maternity leave because of how I look.

I want to be slim and be able to do things with my young DCs. I have tried SW and Diet Chef recently but it is too slow and I have the option of "cheating".

I need a way where there is no negotiation about what I can have and I want fast results. I have just ordered a month of slim & save for delivery tomorrow.

2.5 stone initial target by holiday in March
7 stone target for summer holiday in August

Roll on Tuesday when I should be over the worst!

How's everyone else getting on?

Well done Ayeoopmouse; you are over the first hurdle of deciding nows the time to start dieting! I'm sure we can meet our goals if we support each other.
I'm having a hard day, really really feel like giving in!! What's that all about, it's only been a week and a day. I don't feel hungry, I'm just craving all sort of food and driving my self nuts. I also want wine, now!!!!
Ah well, I know I'm not going to cave, I can't be the first. Luckily I am very competitive and that's what's keeping me away from the left over curry in the fridge at my mums Hmm
Hope you lovely ladies are having better days.

Can I add myself to the end of your roll call? Was on CD last year and lost 5 stone. Following complete idiocy I find myself back at 14.10st - put back 3 stone!

So...........off I go again. Started on Monday and already 6lbs down hooray!

Dad's joining me and the kids on hols in August so really must be back to around 11.5st for then - can't face the inevitable comments from him and want to bound about in my cossy like I did last year. I actually walked down the whole beach and took the kids swimming in the sea and they loved it.

Wow! Great roll call, thanks Busy!

Still going good here. I tried the slim and save mac cheese.... it wasn't great. to my tastebuds, better than the CD tom soup I once tried that literally made me gag for days just thinking about it. But I won't be eating it again.

The sauce is like the nacho cheese sauce you get in cinemas and the 'pasta' is crispy... weird. No more experiments for me. Choc shakes all the way.

Glad to see more of us here!

I had a black coffee in starbucks today and the queue was huge so I had loads of time to stare at the cakes and argue with myself. Anyway, I abstained. I didn't really want anything. I'd been window shopping and rather than feeling crap, i felt really upbeat. it's only a few months before I'll fit in smaller sizes again. I just keep focusing on the fact that my huge size (I am ROUND! as I am also a short arse) is temporary.

I did my hair, put a bit of makeup on and wore the best of my new fat clothes which makes me feel so much better than when I wear crappy stuff becaus e'there's no point making an effort at this size'. I'm really trying to make an effort wiht my appearance to help keep me motivated.

Anyway, another good day, loads of water, vits, fibre etc and my cold is going!

Hope you've all had a good day, and remember your FIBRE!!! :-)

Morning all. So I survived day 1 and it wasn't too tricky. Day 2 today and already finding it hard going. I am a bit diet coke drinker and think I am missing that the most, but I am also really hungry. Hoping that tails off soon!!

Hope you are all having a good day.

Great roll call!! Great that there is so many of us!! We can do it!So far I have done okay, there has been some shift on the scales which is good! I dont think that I am in Ketosis yet, I thought I was yesterday due to funny breath but I am not sure. I must admit I am a bit cranky these days, as I am just getting used to the changes in diet! Anyone else a bit moody??

We're becoming quite a gang now Grin. Easier day today. Yes, to the moodiness at the beginning.

Another good day for me. Been out with D's one in the cold all day and survived.lunch in a lovely cafe so feeling v pleased with myself.

I would say, if you find it really tough and a diet coke would keep u from jacking it in, have one, or a coke zero.
Better that than something full of sugar and carbs.

Ghats partly why j drink sparkling water. Coke makes no difference to my weight loss at all...

Never did in atkjns either

Well done all of us. Its tough, ESP in winter but come summer we will look AMAZING! So keep going.

People new to the diet. Do do do remember fibre!! I cent tell you how important it is!! You will regret it if you don't. Its a nightmare. I also take lactulose 2 eves a week to be on the safe side.

Vlcd constipation is not pretty!

What do you mean by fibre Pom? X

Report
Pompbear · 11/01/2013 17:51

I take psyllium (sp?) Husks.

Sorry for typos on.phone and screen is broken!

There is no fibre (or v v little) in the shakes and soups so it can play HAVOC with your digestive system! And you won't realise until its too late and you're in agony. Plenty of water, a good fibre supplement and a mild laxative in case of problems, and you will be fine!

I totally forgot to check back in! Day 10 for me and I am 8.5lbs down, very happy. Really enjoying my shakes/meals and feel motivated. Had to go to tesco today and buy some smaller work trousers as my others were falling off. They were a little big anyway. Goodbye size 22! Hang in there over the weekend, it is worth it Smile

Well done sarayu, hope we can all be so successful!

I am resisting diet coke at the moment as I am a total addict and was hoping to use this time to break that. I could never just have one!

Made it to day 3 though with no slips, yay!

Finding it easier today so hopefully day 2 was just the hunger.

Nice weekends to everyone.

Came here for some motivation. Day 1 was ok, even after taking DD2 to A&E last night (fell on her head)-usually would have picked something up on the way home but v focused.

So day 2 now and I am soooo hungry. I think it's really kicking in. I am going to weigh every day for the first week, as suggested, to keep focus.

Well done Sarayo that's the sort of inspiration I was looking for!

I know that tomorrow will be better...

Wohooo it wasn't 8.5lb, it was 10lb. The app I was using to track was wrong. Hang in there everyone, think of the summer

Woohoo, weigh in day, 12lbs off!!!

Dh doing low fat and lost 2lbs.... so I'm winning by quite a bit. I feel great too. Not struggling at all so far.

Of course getting snowed in could change all this!

How is everyone else?

Wow 12lbs is awesome! Well done pompbear. Can't wait for my weigh in on Wednesday evening now. 4 days down now and starting to feel a bit easier, or at least just the norm now.
