We managed to fill the thread before the end of the week, so I'm starting the next one.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness for you to record your weight tomorrow

OP posts:
NewStartSameStory · 08/10/2012 10:34

I had a shock when i stood on the scales. I have lost 8kg! Shock I had to weigh 3 times to be sure. I have nearly lost the entirity of my first target in the first week and I have been naughty Blush Not translated into change of size much yet but hoping that will come. Will now hop over to the spreadsheet of wonder and work out the loss in poundage. I can't believe I am down to 72kg

vnmum · 08/10/2012 10:43

4.5 lb off for me this week. Now 9st 9.5lb. [Grin] thats the best loss i've had in a long time.

viperidae i have tried that carbnite on reccomendation from my trainer. I did it for a few weeks and it did break my plateau but in my opinion, still wasn't worth it. You have to eat alot of grams of carbs on the night and it invariably means you binge on all the stuff you have missed like cake, ice cream, cookies, pasta etc. I felt awful afterwards, hot sweats etc, then ideally you need to do some HIIT work fasted the next day to empty the glycogen. The first night was a good novelty but after about 3 times it got harder to eat enough carbs and i just felt crap from it. Plus it set off cravings for all the sweet stuff that had previously gone away and you need a strong mind to not give in to the cravings during the rest of the week, plus i didn't see any difference in weightloss Or body fat from doing normal low carb.

I have entered my weight on the spreadsheet but nothing in the blue columns has changed. Have i done it wrong?

Well done to all the losers this week, onwards and downwards

vnmum · 08/10/2012 10:44

Just rechecked spreadsheet and it has changed, so i'll shut up Smile

cathyandclaire · 08/10/2012 10:48

Wow NewStart that is amazing! More than a stone Shock that must be surely be a record?!

Willowisp · 08/10/2012 10:52

Morning all, been keeping a low profile, but still around.

Have made the decision earlier on the week to get some carbs in me as I have bowel issues, however, other than this, I've been having low carb lunches & dinner & feeling so much better for it - not actually craving or slumping like previously.

For me, having eased myself in the week before this started, I've realised what I need to do & have a fridge full of green veg (which I avoided mostly before, in favour of red/yellow/white veg)

So, no weight loss this week (also had my period) but no weight gain either.

Well done to all that have soldiered through & lost lb's Smile

NewStartSameStory · 08/10/2012 10:54

tbf my pre boot camp diet was horrific and would leave poor BIWI twitching in the corner if she heard it. In short it was nutritionally devoid, and composed almost entirely of sugar or carbs. Veg and fruit were alien as was proper meals. And the ability to function came from caffine. I really really really do not recommend this unless you are intending an early grave...

I still have a lot of work to do to completely get my head around this woe but the benefits of the changes are being felt even if I overslept this morning. I feel rested when I wake up. I have energy that isn't caffine fueled. I am hoping that in another week or so I can ditch the caffine entirely!

MsRinky · 08/10/2012 11:02

Um, NSSS, 8kg is 17.6 lbs. I don't want to spoil your happy dance, but a loss of 1 stone 3.6 pounds in a week you've been naughty and you can see no change in size is an awful lot more likely to be a reflection that your scales are knackered or you read your last week's weight wrong than actual weight loss. Sorry.

NewStartSameStory · 08/10/2012 11:12

Perhaps but they have done fat scans and they know that I don't store fat externally, i tend to store it more dangerously around my internal organs. I don't change in clothes size from 11 stone to 12 stone - only that they get a bit tighter. Got someone else to stand on the scales and they are measuring them the same as they did last week. What I hoping is happening is that

  1. the half stone that I fluctuate every month normally has done its normal fluctuation.
  2. I am losing fat from around my internal organs
  3. I have been lucky with the small level cheating due to the high level training. A 2hour intensive training session has been calculated to burning about 1,000 cals. on average and I have done 6 plus hours of intensive this week. And that is not including all of the other training.
  4. I have history of massive weight losses in the first week of this kind of diet. I did something similar last time I tried south beach nearly 10 years ago.

Also, I was very surprised at the loss tbh and suspect that any loss next week will be fairly insignificant in comparison. However, weight loss was not the main motivator for my choosing this diet. I needed off the sugar swing train. I needed to be force to see veg as food and I needed to get into the habit of eating properly. I also wanted more energy and better sleep. And this is where I am measuring my success. I don't feel like I have succeed this week because I have cheated, my will power is weak and I still crave sugar. Success will be when I can look at food normally. Plus the promise of nork shrinkage might have swung it for me. Blush

LaVitaBellissima · 08/10/2012 11:16

I am now 140.7lbs which is a 6.3lb loss Shock could someone please update on the spreadsheet for me as I can't do it on my iPad?

This is my plateau weight though, I seem to gain and lose this same half a stone so am really geared up this week.

Yesterday I did slow roasted lamb shoulder with broccoli & cauliflower in a creamy cheesy sauce, it was delish!

I've been eating a lot of eggs and am not missing sugar in my tea at all, brilliant!

small alcohol & mini pack of choc button cheat on the weekend but we won't mention that

Bills has just opened in Richmond too, I thought the chain is linked to Bill Granger?

LaVitaBellissima · 08/10/2012 11:18

Newstart & Bucksmum brilliant work! Smile

Jacaqueen · 08/10/2012 11:24

Wow some of the losses on here are amazing.

Newstart and Bucksmum that is incredible.

Viperidae · 08/10/2012 11:25

Thanks vnmum, appreciate the reply.

I think I was wondering about if this justified a planned night off here and there, which could be used around social life, and hadn't appreciated just how many carbs they were expecting you to eat. HIIT is certainly still beyond my level of fitness (or should I say unfitness!)

NigellasGuest · 08/10/2012 11:39

just recorded my weight - i'm down 1lb.

vnmum · 08/10/2012 11:41

Update on the job front for those who advised me. I have an interview tomorrow afternoon Smile (shame there isn't a nervous emoticon)

caramelwaffle · 08/10/2012 12:02

Do not open the following link if you are eating (it is very illustrative) however <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=1lb+fat&hl=en&client=safari&sa=X&rls=en&biw=1280&bih=600&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnsfd&tbnid=higaYpDbAvkPaM:&imgrefurl=forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php%3Ft%3D128563931%26page%3D1&docid=sleLFB2xOswfPM&imgurl=i50.photobucket.com/albums/f324/kanspharmgirl/fat_5lb_brick.jpg&w=600&h=450&ei=dLFyUM2VBOPM0QWn84GgDw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=123&vpy=245&dur=445&hovh=173&hovw=231&tx=110&ty=113&sig=101324806318193526937&page=1&tbnh=124&tbnw=168&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:0,i:109" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this is how slimmer we are getting - 5lbs fat

caramelwaffle · 08/10/2012 12:02

Good luck vnmum

PrincessSparkle86 · 08/10/2012 12:03

Good luck vnmum will be thinking of you Smile

Lunch will be scrambled eggs!
Dinner will be a shepherds pie (without the mash) and savoy cabbage, mange tout and some spinach and mushroom!

What a miserable day it is here today Sad

caramelwaffle · 08/10/2012 12:08

Breakfast was boiled egg (followed by pork scratchings) Oh Blush Am on the run today that's my excuse and now to the gym.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 08/10/2012 12:09

Wow, NewStart! But more importantly, I'm so glad that this WOE is helping you to re-evaluate your relationship with food. It makes me very angry when people talk about low carb being a fad diet. I would be prepared to lay money on the fact that most people eating the low carb way are eating a better diet than those whose diet is full of carbs.

Jax - don't stress about things at the moment. Just concentrate on getting well Thanks

Viperidae - Bootcamp Light is a little more relaxed, and allows you to introduce nuts/seeds and some fruit if you wish (berries).
