We managed to fill the thread before the end of the week, so I'm starting the next one.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness for you to record your weight tomorrow

Oh, no, sorry to hear that forsale, glad your DS is ok.

(And thanks for reassuring me!)

butterflyexperience · 10/10/2012 20:13

ForSale, get some dinner down you love! Will make you feel so much better :)

Viper - I'm not to sure on an indvidual level, but do think if you have 8st to lose than you should have lost more than 5lbs as the more you have to lose, the more you do. Someone please correct me if I'm talking bollocks

WillieWaggledagger · 10/10/2012 20:18

Viper haven't you been doing this for a few weeks? So loss does slow after the first couple of weeks once glycogen stores have depleted. Though honestly 5lb is brilliant!

Forsale that sounds scary and it's horrible how the imagination can torture you - take care of yourself

PrincessSparkle86 · 10/10/2012 20:18

evening all :D

I've just had a catch up with the thread

I'm liking the newlywed joke butterfly

cathy That celeriac dauphinoise sounds lush...another recipe to add to my collection :)

frumpet woooo! on the jean pulling!

doshus i do hope your back feels better soon....

AND mrsHP toomuch DIY i hope your colds get lost!

AND willie Brew for the throat

sorry if i missed anything but i can't believe how busy this thread is these days ;) Thanks

Viperidae · 10/10/2012 20:19

I'm wondering what's hitting you lot! First you all catch the lurgy, now there's an outbreak of injured children! Hope everyone is ok.

butterfly and ForSale - don't beat yourselves up, accidents happen. Both my DCs have had various accidents (my approach to motherhood bordered on benign neglect I think!) and have both survived to be happy, healthy young adults. Yours will too (and they also learn not to do that again!).

TellMeLater · 10/10/2012 20:23

viper when you exercise, you make tiny little tears in your muscles, the muscles take on water to help aid repair - hence you will gain water and therefore weight when you start exercising - apparently! But when you start low carbing most of your loss is water associated with glycogen storage from eating carbs. Actual fat loss I still estimated to be 2lbs a week but as you can see it's quite tricky to work out what's fat loss and what's water loss. I'd stick at it for a few more weeks before starting to tweak.

Viperidae · 10/10/2012 20:32

Thanks for the replies.

willie I did low carb, not bootcamp but based on the Briffa book, for about 3 weeks and lost just over 1 stone in total but I then went on holiday and put 9lb back on in 2 weeks. I started bootcamp immediately after that.

I usually weigh just once a week but plan to lumber onto the scales tomorrow just for a quick check. I'm just concerned that, if I am not losing much at this point, the loss will not sustain. In the 3rd week of low-carbing before the hol I only lost 2lb but put that down to having had quite a few nuts. I certainly don't feel any thinner yet.

AuntieMaggie · 10/10/2012 20:35

Evening all :)

Hope all your dcs are ok.

I am headachy today and have a sore throat... hopefully not going to develop into anything else!

So today I ate:
Bfast: Protein shake
Lunch:Pepperami, chicken, cruditees with cheese and chive dip
Dinner: 2 lamb chops

I didn't plan that well but tomorrow I'm having lamb chops and salad for lunch

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 10/10/2012 20:36

Have come down with a horrible cold, must have caught it from my DC who have all been coughing for a week now.
Have pretty much lost my appetite do today I've only eaten a couple of bits of bacon and a piece of corned beef, no veg at all Blush. I'm drinking tea with cream and probably had 5 cups today. Not great so will try and be better tomorrow.
Everyone seems to be doing really well so far and I keep looking at what you are all eating, it seems much more varied than me so I think I really need to put in more effort especially with the veg.

Poppy1234 · 10/10/2012 20:50

Dinner was a bit of a disaster, our nanny made home made burgers which were just gorgeous. So nice most of them were scoffed by toddlers, ditto the swede chips. I ended up with one tiny burger and had to whip up an emergency cauliflower mash and buttered leeks. Now I'm craving burgers as they really were spectacular.

Willie I read your post were you mentioned most bootcampers weighed veg to get an idea of portion size. I must have missed this step, should I be weighing? Has everyone else weighed veg. Since starting bootcamp I am obsessed with vegetables, absolutely adore them so I could well be eating more than I should.

PrincessSparkle86 · 10/10/2012 21:06

I havent ever weighed veg i sort of go by guess work... long as your eating the allowed veggies and not in humoussive quantities i always thought it would be fine x

tartiflette · 10/10/2012 21:10

Jeez what is it with all of us?! Dt2 threw herself into coffee table face first, cue trip to a&e to stitch up her chin. This apparently made it necessary for me to scoff a large bag of Minstrels WHICH I DID NOT EVEN ENJOY. Low carbers: learn from my cock up - stay away from the demon sugar it is not bloody worth it.

tartiflette · 10/10/2012 21:11

No I haven't weighed veg either and it hasn't hampered weight loss. Although I suspect the minstrels will

WillieWaggledagger · 10/10/2012 21:14

Poppy no don't worry no need to if you're happy, but I did weigh veg initially to get an idea of how much 100g was. As long as you stick to the veg with less than 3g per 100g you're fine

vnmum · 10/10/2012 21:21

viper it is very common in weeks 3 to 5 of low carbing to see no loss or very little loss. Don't know why but it just seems to happen. Then the weight loss starts again although most people do lose inches during those weeks even when nothing shows on the scale.

Liveinthepresent · 10/10/2012 21:31

Just a random question - can anyone tell me if the nigella meatza thing is on the recipe thread ( or buried in here somewhere) trying to find it quickly.
Thanks.

NigellasGhost · 10/10/2012 21:34

still following the thread when I can - yes it does seem incredibly busy on here these days! I guess the run up to Christmas is great incentive.

I'm still not exercising particularly BUT managing a good 20 mins brisk walk almost every day.

halfthesize · 10/10/2012 21:39

Eve all, hope all the injured DC are doing ok and everyone starts to feel better soon.

I weighed in today the same and have been so busy/stressed I didnt eat anything until an hour ago, when I had burger and saladSmile
TOTM started today, a little early again but at least no weight gain.

Off now to cary on watching DallasWink

Doshusallie · 10/10/2012 21:55

I have never weighed veg. Or anything else for that matter.

Sorry to hear about all the kamikaze kids!

Braised cabbage scored 10 out of 10 for taste, and not very high out of 10 for appearance (it ain't pretty). Thoroughly recommend though and dh liked it too.

Liveinthepresent · 10/10/2012 21:56

Thank you! Will investigate now - planning to make it for DH and I tomorrow night - he is craving pizza!

WineGless · 10/10/2012 22:06

Evening all

Well its all been going on here since i went to work hasn't it!
L: Beef stew
D: (just finished when I got in from work) smoked mackerel and salad with big dollop of dressing

Bloss - am joining you but will sneak that one in Wink

Keep the faith everyone. IT really does work and the healt benefits outweigh everything else for me (plus being at a weight I feel comfortable with)

caramelwaffle · 10/10/2012 22:09

Would it be awful of me to link to the funniest thread on MN at the moment?!

NewStartSameStory · 10/10/2012 22:22
