Hope those who are under the weather are feeling better soon.

BIWI
You will be pleased to note that, after my wobble this morning, you frightened me with your big stick encouraged me to keep going.

Had a lunch of cold meats and salad with ze German sausage and mayo.

Doshusallie · 10/10/2012 12:45

Love the fact that vnmum lives olives now and hated them before.

DTWLFM - decaf tea with lactose free milk

My back really hurts today. Cross because I want to Pilates.

Braised cabbage all made, looking forward to it tonight.

Off to London for a meeting now.

Bloody cauliflower soup still not defrosted so wolfed a lunch of mushrooms salad ham salami and coleslaw. Daren't drink too much water as can never find a loo in town and hate loos on train.

Glad I'm not the only one who drank wine last night....

I too haven't been ill for months and months in this woe....I've totally just jinxed it haven't I?

dotty2 · 10/10/2012 12:53

Thanks for the translation. Sounds totally unappealing, though! I always have one cup of PTWDM in the mornings. Trying to learn to love black tea, black coffee and peppermint tea the rest of the time! I share your pain re loo availability. Post school trips to park my downfall!

Hi Doshusallie I left the braised cabbage on the hob to cool down (I cooked it in a big Le Creuset so I think it retained the heat for a long time) and then I reheated on the hob with the lid on. Get well soon Willie and everyone else who's not feeling well Thanks.

Poppy1234 · 10/10/2012 13:48

I hope those of you that aren't feeling well, feel better soon. I have just placed a mahoosive meat order with our local farm, meat is gorgeous but nearly fainted at the price but super excited about the many lovely meals ahead.

B: Greek yoghurt
L: Tuna mayo with spring onion, cucumber and baby cos leaves
D: Home made beef burgers with cheese, salad and swede chips

Boobz · 10/10/2012 13:57

Biwi - is there portion control on the bootcamp? Do you have to weigh all your meet and measure out veg and fats? Or just as much as you like as long as there isn't any carb on your plate?

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 10/10/2012 14:06

Hi all,

get well soon williewaggle gargling with salt water is disgusting but can help until the antibiotics kick in.

well, out at cafe with friends this morning, I avoided all the cakes and scones and instead ordered a bacon, sausage and egg roll but without the roll obv. The lovely cafe lady gave me mushrooms instead. No real idea about the sausage content but its gotta be better than a choc brownie for breakfast!

My friend nudged me and said "I thought you were being good" I said "this is being good" and gave her a big Wink. She is now intrigued!!

butterfliesinmytummy · 10/10/2012 14:12

Omg, bacon and halloumi salad, amazing! Keep going everyone, when you start seeing results on the scales AND can eat cheese, it's gotta be worth it!

Bought frozen spinach today, what can I do with it? Normally eat fresh or wilted but wasn't any in the shop ... Any ideas?

Boobz · 10/10/2012 14:23

*meat

DIYapprentice · 10/10/2012 14:48

Weighed this morning, was down so am Smile.

B: Frittata with some veg
L: Chicken salad with some sprinkled baccon bits
D: ???

(So you can put your big stick away BIWI!)

As I was pouring the leftover soup into a container yesterday I noticed how thick it was when cool and thought 'DIP'!!!! Yay! A low carb dip. That will help me eat some more veggies. So that will be snacks for when I want an extra nibble, or a starter for dinner.

Frittata was really bland, need to add some flavouring - what herbs/spices do other people use?

Did a workout this morning at quite a high intensity, and did pretty well considering only week 2 on this WOE and with the tail end of my cold. It's done wonders for my cold too, seem to have sweated most of it out.

NewStartSameStory · 10/10/2012 14:50

I put it in scrambled eggs. haven't had any in ages though might see if i can pick some up.

Really really struggling with motivation and old eating habits today. Skipped lunch. Don't want to eat. Brain seems to be rebelling. Decided need to cut out the yoghurt snacks. Don't think they are very low carb and not hugely keen on the texture they are just something that is there. Will keep them for training snacks. Need to get some mushrooms or something for salads as want to take the cheese out of the. Also hoping to pick up some decaf coffee Plan is next week to go 1/2 teaspoon coffee/1/2 teaspoon decaff. In one of my 2 cups/ per day. When I can get to 1 cup coffee/1 cup decaff I will see about working on getting rid of the other cup and just no drinking the other. Or at least that is the plan. Soo tired though this week. No way of knowing whether this is diet or lifestyle induced though.Would like my motivation and alertness from last week back.

foosty · 10/10/2012 14:51

thanks for replying BIWI

after yesterday's moan I woke up this morning to my period AND I'm 2lbs down. Finally! So sorry for the crappy pissy post. I MAY have been slightly affected by hormones Blush

Today: circuits first thing
B- 2 eggs, scrambled with butter, feta and zero carb sausage
no lunch - breakfast was late
dinner will be roast chicken and braised cabbage, I think
might snack on some salad and cold fish after school run if I'm peckish

Think cutting my portion sizes has def made a difference. But then, I'm a greedy pig so my portions were likely way too big.

butterflies - stir frozen spinach into soups, curries, stews etc

Poppy1234 · 10/10/2012 15:30

butterfliesinmytummy bacon and halloumi salad, cannot wait to try that combo, two of my most favourite ingredients.

DIYapprentice I find fritatta can be a bit bland too, I usually make it with a salty ingredient (chorizo, ham, bacon etc), cheese and season it well. Eggs in general can cope with a lot of salt.

captainmummy · 10/10/2012 15:46

I've found that lately I don't even need breakfast - from someone who used to eat every 2 hours, even taking a banana to work for 11o'clock and an apple for hometime - 1230!

I have a coffee with cream and feel as if I've had my usual 2-3 egg omellette (and i'd noticed that i was getting a bit, errm egg-bound I think the phrase is. that's sorted now - but 'floaters' they are not!)

Anway, 1 whole cos lettuce with mushrooms fried in butter and mayo for lunch. Dinnerwill be pork chops with buttered cabbage - tho I can't wait to try sauted swede too! Sounds great.

DIYapprentice · 10/10/2012 16:19

Off to the shops, gonna buy some cabbage Grin. Looking forward to my very nice good healthy meal tonight.

WillieWaggledagger · 10/10/2012 17:38

Thanks for all you nice messages, and hope others who are poorly are bearing up. It's clearly that time of year!

Am feeling much better after sleeping all morning and well-dosed on paracetamol.

Am making spinach and ricotta stuffed cream cheese pancakes for supper. A bit dairy-heavy but nice and squishy for my poorly throat!

Boobz we don't have to measure stuff, but I think most of us have weighed out veg initially to get an idea of the carbs in what we consider to be a portion (I was c surprised about how heavy courgettes are!)

Hope you hear soon vnmum, it's hard to distract yourself I know

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 10/10/2012 18:44

After cafe breakfast (posted earlier)
L salad with cucumber, feta, Parma ham and olive oil.
Snack leftover roast chicken

Starting to feel very poorly now, think I may have cold/bug coming on. Craving old style comfort food. Raided cupboard and found a tin of chicken soup from Lidl that is 4g carb per 100g, only 0.4 of which is sugars. Am hoping this is within the boundaries of possible, cos I really needed something warming and comforting. It was very tasty.

I am wondering if all these people feeling poorly in one way or another is a symptom of our bodies getting rid of all the sugary toxins etc? I mean a bit like an addict going cold turkey and getting the shakes. As we're on day 10, is it still "carb flu"? Or a kind of longer term adjustment to this WOE?

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/10/2012 18:53

For me it is just a cold! I find taking a multi vitamin, lots if water, veg and keeping up salt helps.

boobz if you read the rules (on tab on soreadsheet and stated by BIWI a few times on this thread) you'll find your answers. No weighing or counting anything - we aren't eating NO carb but LOW carb where all your carbs come from salad and veg rather than potatoes and bread.

DIYapprentice · 10/10/2012 18:58

Mine's definitely a cold. My DS2 very generously passed it onto me!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 10/10/2012 19:07

Hi mrsHP I think it will likely be just a cold, am musing a bit. I've been taking vit C for a few days as I was told it may help the poo situation. Good point, I don't think I've drunk enough water today, had plenty this morning but only a cople of decaf black coffees since lunch as I've been feeling cold and shivery and trying to keep warm. Doesn't help that it's turned bloody Baltic up here today, brrr. Time to look out the gloves n scarves box.

caramelwaffle · 10/10/2012 19:08

Good evening.

Breakfast - scrambled egg, avocado and some olives before the gym.
Lucnch - Chicken drumsticks with leeks and cabbage fried in butter.
Dinner - Chicken and spinach plus 1/2 a pakora (not allowed)
dessert - goats milk yoghurt with vanilla.
1.5l water so far

Get well soon everyone.

Doshusallie · 10/10/2012 19:11

Where is teaandthorazine?

Had a pkt of pork scratchings and A GLASS OF RED WITH MY SISTER AT WATERLOO. There it's out there, sorry BIWI I can BOOTCAMP with food but the alcohol sneaks in. Are you going to chuck me out? Sad

Tea will be low carb burgers with THE braised cabbage.

Have had about a litre of water today, need to get through at least 1 more before bed.

butterflyexperience · 10/10/2012 19:14

Well done to all losers! This woe is fab.
Hope all those of you who are ill get better soon.

Had some drama yest....
My youngest fell off the kitchen counter and ended up with a ping pong ball sized bump on her forehead!
Took her to A&E and luckly all is fine and her fringe even covers the now bruise.
Unfortunitly all the stress left us all tired and emotional so we had McDonalds on the way home for dinner.

Fellow Low Carbers I truly committed the sin of all sins!

Felt so rubbish from it.

Any way have jumped back on the wagon today and even made cheese sauce with my chicken, bacon & mushroom dinner, and I felt very satisfied after. So thank you to all who recommended me to add some cheese sauce to my dinner. :)

It's home made burgers tomorrow night, lush ....

EwanHoozami · 10/10/2012 19:21

I had a very interesting conversation with my very dear and elderly Great Aunt and Uncle today. I refused a slice of her cake and we got to talking about LC.

Turns out she's an unexpected ally and talked about how it was sweet and baked things that were seen as 'naughty' when she was young but butter and animal fat were liberally applied whenever possible. And hardly anyone was overweight.
