Week 1 Weigh-In - Little Black Dress Low Carb Boot Camp

WillieWaggledagger · 30/09/2012 16:17

i know you're all dying to get started on the low carb boot camp, and for those who haven't done this before, here is the link to the spreadsheet where you should record your starting weight for Monday 1st October in column c next to your name. Please don't touch any other columns for now

weight is recorded in lbs, so if you have problems converting from kg or stones, FiddledeFat made a handy widget which can be found in the tab at the bottom labelled 'conversion'

if your name isn't on the spreadsheet then you can add yourself by adding a new line and dragging the formulae down from an adjacent row, or just ask me to add you and I will do so as soon as i can

good luck with the first week of bootcamp!

Aww you are so kind, I haven't given in but am really craving. I've done low carb before but had fallen off over the last week big time and now it is just like starting all the way from scratch, which of course it is.

I had to buy a shed load of stuff for my daughter to make flapjacks and brownies, and that isn't helping, I just want to shovel it all into my gob Blush

But I shan't. Brave words Grin

CakeMeIAmYours · 02/10/2012 18:11

Oh god, I'd forgotten about the Bake Off - not sure I can face it, its just one big carb-fest!

WineGless · 02/10/2012 18:28

Pistey am feeling much the same. Fell off wagon last week and its tough carrying on even though I feel so much better without carbs.

Keep the faith (as JBJ would say)

WineGless · 02/10/2012 18:31

toomuchmonth well done! You have done brilliantly although that's one carb laden pooch!

Word factory - if it's good enough for BIWI it's good enough for you. Champers all round???

WineGless · 02/10/2012 18:32

Limonata and cakemeimyours- your meals look scrummy. Am going to pinch some ideas

caramelwaffle · 02/10/2012 18:32

Lollipop given away to mini Waffle.

For anyone craving chocolate I highly, highly, highly recommend the following:

choco Aztec Spice organic tea

It is a spiced tea.

When you drink it, it leaves a slight film on your tongue that, to me, tastes like melted Galaxy chocolate.

I am doing a slight experiment at the moment; I am brewing two cups and leaving one with just the water one one with a splash of cream: I'll let you now if the creamy one is much more chocolatey or if it doesn't really require it.

I suppose really it may just come down to personal taste.

Well done Word

Piste try the tea I just mentioned.

caramelwaffle · 02/10/2012 18:35

Gah.

Of course it's a spiced tea Hmm Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/10/2012 18:35

toomuch well done - all those little victories make a massive difference!!!

pistey don't do it - you'll only regret it later. Have some cheese or clean your teeth or a peppermint tea or something that sweet thins don't 'go' with!

BigStickBIWI · 02/10/2012 18:50

I'm not sure a mini Waffle is much better, though, caramel Sad

And it's better not to try and have 'substitute' sweet things, even though it might be hard - we are trying to break the addition to sweet tastes.

Pistey - stay strong! Don't do it! You know it's only the evil carbs trying to seduce you. Have a piece of cheese instead.

wordfactory - glad to hear you have something to celebrate! I didn't even have that excuse Grin

I've not been feeling so well today. Am going down with a cold I think. So I only managed pork belly for lunch, didn't really want anything with it, and then I went to bed for an hour or so this afternoon. Dinner will be spicy beef stew (stewing beef, shallots, chilli, green pepper, mushrooms and a tin of tomatoes, with ground cumin/groound coriander and dried oregano and a splash of white wine to deglaze the pan I fried the beef in.) Mashed celeriac for me, mashed potatoes for DH/DS2, and red cabbage braised with cider vinegar and butter.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 02/10/2012 18:51

I was all ready to try the choc aztec tea... but I dont like galaxy, if I have 'cheap' chocolate it is Cadbury. if you tell me it tastes like dairy milk I shall buy it! Grin

today was a bit strange. I had scrambled eggs for breakfast, black coffee, couple of glasses of water, felt full up. Walked dogs, ran around doing laundry, dishwasher etc then went to town to meet a friend for coffee (again, black) then we hit the shops, by the time we had lunch I was ravenous and ordered poached eggs with bacon and hollandaise sauce on a toasted muffin. I ate half the muffin which I know isnt good but I felt awful and as I wasnt at home or near a M&S food hall or similar otherwise I would have bought some cheese/meat and scoffed that on the hoof.

Anyway, not the end of the world really is it? Dinner was roast pork, celeriac dauphinoise and green veggies. V delicious.

Going to stick a little pack of nuts in handbag and a babybel for snacks.

BigStickBIWI · 02/10/2012 18:53

NO NUTS IN BOOTCAMP!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 02/10/2012 18:54

OK OK OK! What else can I keep in my bag to snack on then?

sheesh!

Where do I buy the bloody aztec tea?

Grin
TellMeLater · 02/10/2012 18:58

Just ordered the choc Aztec species tea - hope its good - currently consuming large quanitities of tea pigs liquorice & peppermint.

Just had a lovely pizza for dinner - best so far according to the dcs, who nervously test each one, hoping for an acceptable flavour. I topped my half with buttered leeks, roasted pepper and naice bacon from the butcher! Kids topped theirs with extra pesto and Parmesan and then the whole lot got a drizzle EVOO.

caramelwaffle · 02/10/2012 19:03

Not given in to. Given away to Grin

caramelwaffle · 02/10/2012 19:04

Mini Waffle is having it for dessert.

Doshusallie · 02/10/2012 19:05

Snacks: slice of nice ham and a baby bel

Saturday is deffo going to be a wagon jump - dh is planning to make roasted red pepper and tomato soup with homemade rosemary scones, and rack of lamb with parsnip mash and red wine sauce for our dinner party. Will be able to have cheese instead of the decadent choc puddings I am making but can't exactly not eat the starter and main can I?

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 02/10/2012 19:06

poor BIWI think she thought you swapped a lollipop for a waffle! Grin

where does one purchase this tea of chocciness?

caramelwaffle · 02/10/2012 19:10

Ethical Superstore

Natural collection

Holland and Barrett

caramelwaffle · 02/10/2012 19:13

No Sugar substitutes BIWI?! Sad

foosty · 02/10/2012 19:13

today going well for me...

Breakfast -2 eggs scrambled with 2 mushrooms and some Mattesons smoked pork sausage (there's 0g carbs in it!)

Lunch - a few slices of salami and chorizo, some olives, some smoked cheese, some gherkins

Dinner will be a chicken steak which is marinating in a Paul Newman Cajun Sauce (7g carbs per 100g - reckon I've used about 20-30g) and maybe cauliflower cheese and broccoli cheese (might not do the cheese sauce but I make a GORGEOUS low carb version which is hard to resist..!)

I can't do without my tea. I just can't. I can go easily without coffee, but not tea. I take it with a splash of milk - not loads- and a quarter spoonful of Half-Spoon sugar, trying to lower the amount I use every day. Is there another kind of dairy free milk substitute I could use instead of ss milk? I don't want it to make my tea taste different! Or would I be better off switching to coffee with cream?

WillieWaggledagger · 02/10/2012 19:16

Caramel I read that the same as biwi!

I need a week in Pedants Corner to put me on the straight and narrow Grin

Have just been handed not wanted/leftover M&S lamb mince; it tastes so, so sweet. I can't eat it.

frumpet · 02/10/2012 19:22

Bit of a disaster today as forgot bag to take to work with my clothes and food in , only get one 15 min break and nothing non carby to eat , so had to wait till i got home at four , then mainlined some pepperoni ! Haven't drunk very much water either as no time at work and not allowed to have bottles of water . Having a gigantic and very lush salad for tea with spinach , avocado , a tomato and mozzarella , yum !

LittleFrieda · 02/10/2012 19:24

My lovely husband just came and sat at the desk beside me and ate a big slab of chocolate birthday cake. I felt nothing but contempt for either of them. Grin
