We've nearly grown out of the last thread here so i started the new one.

We're all doing different things but we're all here to support each other on the journey. We kick each other when we need it and offer sympathy when that's more appropriate.

How to lose 3lb in a day! Get a nasty virus, stay in bed shivering and sweating, consuming only lemsips. Had a virus and felt crap. Still do but going out for dinner with dh tonight so I expect i'll put the weight back on again!

Xmas is just me, dh and the kids so I'll be doing a turkey but as we won't be having inlaws over I won't be under pressure to have 3 types of pudding as well as mince pies and a big box of roses or quality street. My stomach has shrunk quite a lot so I do eat less and I'm confident I won't be so gluttonous this year. I might also cook two potatoes per person. Normally I do about fifty (for all of us) and then spend the evening munching on cold roasties while I wash up.

Very impressed with the targets. I think back in September I said I wanted to lose 20lb by my girls night out on 1st December and I might just make it!

When I was expecting dd2 my stomach was so big, people kept asking if I was expecting twins. I was left with this huge load of fat/ flab. I can see it's going. So I'm really pleased that the most obvious places of weightloss are my face and my stomach. Anyone else losing weight in a hated area?

tiggy114 · 22/11/2012 18:16

Anyone dping the 5:2 ? Been reading a thread on here and it seems a doddle. Am wary of fad diets though that you can't sustain long term. However once your used to it, it shouldn't be too hard to have 2 light days a week. Think it may work for me as i aren't likely to fill up On the eating days with burgers and fry ups since i'm quite a healthy eater. Plus it'd be nice not to have to worry 5 days in the week.

tiggy114 · 22/11/2012 18:20

Oh and our tradition is a bbq. It's gorgeous honest! And farely healthy as we have lean chicken and veg kebabs. Some other pieces of lean meat. And mash potato. Yummy. Very protein rich. It's the pudding i fail on coz i love xmas pud but no one else does so i have been known to eat a whole family pud to myself Blush

bootsycollins · 22/11/2012 19:42

Just been for my weigh in, no loss no gain grrrrrrrrrrr!

Mathsdidi · 22/11/2012 19:54

johnny people used to ask me if I was expecting twins with dd2 too. Of course when she arrived we were on a ward with a set of full term twins and dd2 was bigger than both of them together Shock. My wieght is going from my belly too which is great. I'd quite like it to come off my boobs as well seeing as they are so huge, but I can't see that happening til dd2 stops bf and I can't see that happening til she leaves home Hmm

Our Christmas is very small, we stay home just the 4 of us and don't bother with the huge dinner, we have a fairly normal chicken dinner and generally ice cream rather than the xmas pudding, etc. Of course we then go to the inlaws on boxing day and mil does a HUGE spread with at least 3 desserts and she gets offended if we don't all eat our own bodyweight. I also have 3 meals out with various people which might put a dent in my weightloss.

TheHumancatapult · 22/11/2012 20:01

Maths I love my booba to shrink a bit but don't think that's ever going to happen

ICBINEG · 22/11/2012 20:36

I have also lost from my face and stomach...although I now look like I have an extra arse on my tummy....oh well I never was one for bikinis...

I got under the BMI 25 even with my clothes on today at the doctors!

Mathsdidi · 22/11/2012 20:41

Wow icb. I still have another 2.5 stones to lose before I get my bmi under 25.

tiggy114 · 22/11/2012 20:59

Just worked out my bmi is 25.8 and i'm overweight Sad but i'm not sure about bmi. My oh was a mountain biker in peak fitness 2 years ago and he reckons his bmi was classed as overweight. Says he has heavy bones!!!! Grin

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 22/11/2012 23:14

Hi, I'm not so convinced about BMi as I have large boobs, and did even when I was quite skinny. I'm aiming for a final BMi of 24 but it's just a target. I think some people can look scrawny (face / neck) when they're too thin and if I fitted in a 12 and had a smaller stomach I think I might be happy to stay there. Having said I don't care about BMi I was delighted this morning that I am no longer obese! BMi of 29.7!

It's really interesting to hear about other xmas meals, I suggested having something different this year and dh looked horrified.

Mathsdidi · 22/11/2012 23:28

I'm not really convinced about BMI either. Dp has no fat on him but his BMI says he's obese because he's quite muscley. I do think it's a pretty cheap way of seeing roughly how overweight a person is though, to do it properly needs special equipment which is expensive. Waist measurement is another one to look at but I'm studiously ignoring that one because I'm still obese according to that.

My aim is to be a size 14. I know that I am a reasonably healthy weight when I get to that size and it's easier to maintain that size than it would be to maintain a 12 (I wouldn't ever get smaller than that)

TheHumancatapult · 23/11/2012 04:55

Wow ICB well done . I'm still on the obese section but not far of being just overweight .i was morbidly obese so big change according to nhs BMI another 6lb drop me into overweight

But like lots said in a 36 HH so they must count for a bit and even when I was very slim pre dc they were big . Also my arms are very muscley to from pushing myself round all day

My goal is to fit back into size 12 on my bottom half so probably around 10 stone mark that's been my final aim since start and now beginning to realise that I can actually do this . I can get 14 on but the button and button hole don't meet

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 23/11/2012 06:44

Human you are such an inspiration! The rate you're going i actually think you'll get to 10 st before I get to my target which I think is something like 10 st 5. I'm quite happy to go slow with the weightloss so will be happy for you when you do start to beat me! I'm something like 12 st 4 but not eating because of cold / flu thing so may go up a littlewhen my appetite returns. In fact I may treat myself to some chip shop chips (a real weakness) just because I have had a shit week (dds have colds and are waking me constantly) and still eaten healthily.

Did you know you can freeze chip shop chips? A thin friend does it because she can never eat them all in one go. You freeze them and then I think you either microwave them or pop them back in the oven!

TheHumancatapult · 23/11/2012 07:47

Blush johnny it's only because I learnt I am a all or nothing dieter ond wobble and that's it I would give up .
Plus I realised its only just over 10 months till Wdw Grin

ICBINEG · 23/11/2012 10:05

oh don't worry I think BMI is a load of bollocks too....I actually think it is underestimating my fatness in spite of my 36 G boobs.

But it is a nice check on progress to see the numbers go down (when you get board of watching them in both kilos and pounds - might be getting a bit obsessed)

TheHumancatapult · 23/11/2012 11:09

ICB of topic but have you been to Bravissmo I nearly cried at the choice I had in there

Gooniechoons · 24/11/2012 20:58

Bugger my iPad won't do bmi. Dd2 has had a sick bug so we are all waiting with bated breath to see if we all go doowwwwn!!

Feel better soon johnny

Went to the hairdresser today, and DH dyed my hair (even redder!) the other day so my hair is currently amazing which is a good incentive to try hard at the diet so the rest of me looks as food..... Might take a while!

TheHumancatapult · 25/11/2012 03:45

Johnny

Did you get your chippy ?

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 25/11/2012 15:23

Thanks goon flu thing much better but back is hurting and foot (the one I broke four months ago which should be better) so I am feeling quite sorry for myself! Couldn't manage to get dr appointment but will go next week if I'm not better.

human no chips as I decided to wait until after my girls night out on 1st. I want to look good next Saturday and whilst I am showing much more willpower than usual I was slightly worried I would eat the chips and not be able to stop!

Today I have a brilliant problem, trousers falling down! Must buy some cheap ones. Also intend to go to bravissimo at some point but while my boobs don't seem to have shrunk yet I'm sure they will at some point.

bootsy I hope you don't get too disheartened, I have had about 3 weeks with no weightloss. Even last week I had been on 1200 - 1300 cals a day and I didn't lose anything. Let's hope next week is another good week for you to make up for it.

FightingTheMess · 25/11/2012 18:17

So despite signing up here and being very determined to start this week my week was horrible food wise.
However my food order should arrive any minute and I have ordered a lot of fruit, yoghurt, lean meat etc. Hopefully enough to supply me with breakfasts, lunches and snacks for the week. I usually have lunch at 1.30 but don't get home until 7-8 and then still have to cook so I am hungry on my commute and keep buying bad foods. I am now poor as well.... It just seems a vicious circle.

I think I will use my slow cooker more, so I can make huge servings of everything and always have something ready when I get home.

Also went to my first gym session today. I want to try and go once every weekend and one evening a week. I hope that's realistic but I feel with sitting on public transport for up to 6 hours a day I really NEED to move for an hour every now and then.

What sport of exercise are you all doing? The gym has a pool and I am considering swimming every now and then. I am not great at it though and always have my head sticking out. would it still be good or do you think proper gymming would be better? I just find weights etc all the time so boring.

Johhny, well done, you must have lost a lot to have your trousers falling down.

TheHumancatapult · 25/11/2012 18:58

Johnny glad feeling better but bugger on foot and back pain hope it wears of before next week

Oh and we have chickenpox's again he only had them 5 weeks ago > am hoping he is scabbed up before we go away

TheHumancatapult · 25/11/2012 19:03

Johnny don't be so sure they will 6 plus stone and yes backs gone down not cup size at all and Jonny it is a pita but good feeling when they fall down

Fighting

I do a form of yoga ( google DDP yoga also Arthur DDP yoga ) not your typical yoga but it is good and great they actually adapted it for me have my own personal workout ( I'm in a wheelchair ) I try and do 30-60 mins every day mostly before kids wake aa otherwise put it of

Yup big fan of slow cooker here also I. Always make extra ( curry /shepherds pie etv and freeze a portion for those CBA day

Youcanringmybell · 25/11/2012 21:09

Goodluck for weigh in the morning folks. I am not going to be weighing. I have not had a good weekend!! But I am happy just trying my best each day that I can and not do weigh in until I feel I have made some progress.

All of you Thanks

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 25/11/2012 22:31

fighting I used to always snack on the way home from work. I'm not working at the moment but when I go back I intend to carry a banana or healthy snack around with me for emergencies.

I have been swimming recently (too frightened of anything else that might hurt foot) but I used to find classes more motivating than gym. I'm not very good at swimming either but I have built myself up to doing 45 minutes which I'm really pleased with. I think it's as good as gym but that's probably because I would get bored after 10 mins in gym. also gym is full of skinny people who don't have humongous bouncy boobs

human If I lose the 32 lbs I want will look ridiculous with big boobs! They never got smaller after I breastfed dd1 so maybe that's their permanent size. Maybe I should pop into bravissimo next week. I was going to go to bravissimo as a treat when I had lost all the weight but it would be nice to get some new bras sooner as I'm still wearing horrible maternity and breastfeeding bras.

youcan sorry it wasn't a good weekend for you but glad you're not unhappy.

TheHumancatapult · 26/11/2012 04:50

Johnny do it . It made me feel so much better about myself and made my clothes fit and look better. I am top heavy and my boobs walk into a room before me And so much more noticeable now loosing weight

I do go to a gym but it's not a gym bunny one more of a muscle man gym as does not really have much aerobic stuff but they have been fab about accommodating me and my chair way better than the posh one was and has advantages Wink

Youcan

Sorry not such a good weekend for you but glad you are feeling ok about it
