We've nearly grown out of the last thread here so i started the new one.

We're all doing different things but we're all here to support each other on the journey. We kick each other when we need it and offer sympathy when that's more appropriate.

I thought the VERY same ICBineg, I actually didn't want any of that food. I am normally a fan but this new series..not so much.

ICBINEG · 17/10/2012 09:48

the bits involving meat are okay (also not so guilt inducing....I reckon if you left off the gallon of oil it would actually be pretty low cal) but the puds etc. are just ick!

Hi everyone, i finally have the internet back in my new house!
I havent weighed so will wait til next week now
Apart from actual moving day i have i hope been very good , sticking to my diet and eating relatively healthily
some of you have lost so much this week , i never seem to lose more than 1lb or 2 at a time
Hopefully all the unpacking will help with my weight loss this week

Youcanringmybell · 17/10/2012 12:25

Slow and steady wins the race everytime cookie... Smile

I do not feel so eager to lose loads at the moment. I am happy just being, eating sensibly. I feel I get desperate when my bingeing gets out of hand. Now I have it under control I feel like weigh loss will be slow, steady and be a side effect of better eating in general. I am in a good place today !!

Youcanringmybell · 17/10/2012 12:27

I just a delicious lunch! I had 2 slices of wholemeal bread, diced cherry toms, salt/ pepper, ateaspoon of extra virgin olive oil and teaspoon of balsamic. It was amazeballs. A few more calories than normal (i usually would only have one slice) but it was delicious - see my above post.. I am concentrating on healthy and sustainable. yum.

ICBINEG · 17/10/2012 12:42

It's not good to lose more than 1-2 lbs a day by calorie restriction alone. It would dump you below 1000 cals and risk the whole starvation mode thing. But I think you can lose more by exercising more. That seems to be human's method. I would test it but I am allergic to trainers...and er....pain.

cookieowner · 17/10/2012 13:50

i meant 1-2lbs a week icbineg not a day!

ICBINEG · 17/10/2012 15:00

argh so did I!

ICBINEG · 17/10/2012 15:11

So erm average calorie intake for a woman is 2000 which is 14000 a week, and a pound of body weight is worth around 3500. So on a normal amount of exercise you would have to not eat at all to lose 4lbs a week.

This would definitely cause metabolic shut down, and starvation mechanisms to kick in.

Obvs the way around this is to eat more like 1000 cals a day and then exercise more than the average woman, thus raising your calorie intake requirements to nearer 3000 (although I think that would involve serious commitment!)

There are many things wrong with this calculation including the fact that if you are overweight then your calorie requirement per day is already over 2000....

It also highlights the fact that if you were to eat body fat you would only get to eat 4lbs of food a week (or for us dieters 2lbs of food a week) which is 9oz - 250g a day (4.5oz a day - 125g).

hmmm it also means that body fat is 770 kcal per 100g. Interestingly the shortbread my MIL brought me was 550 kcal per 100g. So very nearly as pure a source of calories as body fat.

cookieowner · 17/10/2012 16:05

i am sticking to 1100/1200 a day as i have a very inactive lifestyle as cant exercise much at all and do not go out much
Therefore i think my daily requirement is around 1750 (according to the BMR calculation)
So i am having 600 ish less calories a day ie 4200 a week so should lose at a nice steady rate of 1/2 pounds i hope
although i still have my once a week takeaway on saturday too as this keeps me motivated all week knowing i am nearly to the next saturday treat !

Tortoise · 17/10/2012 16:10

New jeans arrived today. The do up but are slightly lower rise than normal and sit too low. This is the down side of buying off ebay lol. Will look out for a different pair.

Youcanringmybell · 17/10/2012 17:37

VERY interesting cookie!!!!

In fact why is it that I eat a 50gr bar of chocolate and put on a pound?? Grin

tiggy114 · 17/10/2012 18:18

Who loves pumpkin seed ryvita's? Yummy yummy yum yum. I am an addict.

Goonatic · 17/10/2012 19:27

Hi cookie how di't go? Are you getting sorted?

TheHumancatapult · 17/10/2012 20:03

Yeah my weight loss often slightly more as average hour a day and that with heart rate in fat burning zone . But tbh yes it helps with weight but it gives me mentally a boost and has increased fitness and flexibility which is more important to me

But saying that this week I'm not expecting it to be as good or even good at all . Eaten out Sunday ( was my birthday ) and eaten well today and out for lunch Friday but that may he healthy have not binged but allowed myself to relax his strict I been based on fact even if put on .at end of day I now lost 74lb so a gain won't hurt will just work harder week after

Tortoise · 17/10/2012 22:25

Thanks to bastard Asda failing to deliver my shopping tonight, I have had chips and jumbo sausage for dinner.
And a naughty stickers too!

Tortoise · 17/10/2012 22:26

Snickers* damn auto correct lol.

tiggy114 · 17/10/2012 22:32

Ha ha tort. I had visions of a toddler trying to feed you stickers like mine does!

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 17/10/2012 22:39

Very interesting conversation as I have no idea why I lost 4lb, I'm sure this week won't be great as I have succumbed to a lot of biscuits. I am really starting to get back into bad habits. I'm eating crap because it's there rather than I'm hungry. Sad

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 17/10/2012 22:43

Omg I just threw away an open packet of biscuits and an unopened m and s cake. Feeling really bad because other mums brought them round for playdates but I felt like I lost my willpower.

must not retrieve them from the bin

TheHumancatapult · 18/10/2012 07:03

Jonnywell done

Can uou empty kitchen bin into outside bin do not tempted Or put something horrible on top

Tortoise

Sorry had to giggle at naughty sticker . Think I should put myself in naughty corner after yesterday

But back on it today , well till tomorrow

TheHumancatapult · 18/10/2012 07:05

My grumble and advice for day is keep eye on favourite foods as my crispsbreads have changed what's in them

tiggy114 · 18/10/2012 07:22

Jonny you have such will power. I could not have thrown an m & s cake. Go you!

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 18/10/2012 10:01

Thanks human, tiggy snacks hidden under rotting stuff in bin. Have had a really bad couple of days where I've been "our of control". It's not really out of control, just 3 or 4 biscuits a day but I wondered if that was the start of my old behaviour coming back and started to panic. Feeling much better today, might check out those ryvitas.

chicken casserole for dinner tonight with lots of veg. Really looking forward to it. Don't know whethe to ask for slow cooker for Xmas or whether to buy one myself. Not sure I can wait.

cookieowner · 18/10/2012 10:32

Goonatic thanks for asking
the move went fairly well , the usual big mess of boxes waiting to be unpacked now all over the house
but we have moved so often now it seems quite normal!
We made a supreme effort and unpacked the whole kitchen the day after so that i had no excuse on not being able to eat properly
Just the rest to tackle now then.......
