The Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - starting in 2 week's time!

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:43

Following on from the success of Bootcamp v1, where we lost in the region of 70 stone between us, we will be running a 10 week v2 Bootcamp, starting on Monday 1 October.

This is designed to take us up to the end of the first week in December, by which time you should have lost at least half a stone - and that's being pessimistic. There's every chance you could lose more than a stone over that period of time! Plenty of time to make sure that you can get into that Little Black Dress without the lumps and bumps showing too much.

This is how it will work:

The first two weeks will be very strict. I will shout at you a lot and will wave my big stick around with gay abandon. After this period, you can then relax into Bootcamp Light or, if it suits you, stick with Bootcamp for the remaining 8 weeks.

We have a Spreadsheet of Marvellousness, which will be upated each week, so that you can plot your progress.

There are 10 simple rules here , and it's really easy to do. No weighing or counting (unless you really want to). And above all, lots of support from all those who are doing it alongside you.

Who is up for it?

Are olives stuffed with anchovies ok ? and mozzarella , please say that is ok as it is my favorite food , one ball of that , one tomatoe , avocado and tons of spinach ! I dont have a sweet tooth , carbs are my downfall , especially in when dressed up as wine Blush . If i do bootcamp , i will probably lose 7llbs just by not drinking th stuff .

WineGless · 28/09/2012 22:58

Yep frumpet they are all fine I think

BIWI wax on,wax off

frumpet · 28/09/2012 22:58

Got weighed at a friends , as don't own any scales, i am 230 llbs Sad so should i drink 3.5 or 4 litres of water ? i thought i might drink 4 for the first week and then 3.5 for the second .

BigStickBIWI · 28/09/2012 23:03

Yep - no wine in Bootcamp!

Viperidae · 28/09/2012 23:56

BTW did you see Nigella last week made what she called a "meatza". Make mince with egg, etc as you would for meatballs then press into a tin and top with tomato and mozzarella. If you left out the braedcrumbs she used it would be a good low carb meal with salad.

BigStickBIWI · 29/09/2012 00:07

That sounds nice - a bit like a meatloaf, I suppose?

Willowisp · 29/09/2012 09:55

I don't want to be negative, but all that food (pâté/ salami/ham - aren't theses processed?) make me want to heave Sad

I like food that makes my mouth water...but because I've lost a bit of my appetite, I think I'll be skipping breakfast. This week I tried 1/2 avocado with creme fraiche & won't be eating that again...ever...

Dh cooked me fried mushrooms & boiled egg this am....& that's in a container waiting for me to 'indulge' !

cathyandclaire · 29/09/2012 10:03

When I've had a juicy craving I've found roasting tomatoes or eating raw crunchy celery (I know....I can't believe I actually like it now [shocked]) helps (even better dipped in boursin or sour cream Grin)

BigStickBIWI · 29/09/2012 10:05

Willow - what do you like? (Apart from fruit!) Let's see if we can help you out!

And yes, pate etc are all processed foods - but not necessarily always full of artificial ingredients which is what we're trying to avoid. If you buy good quality stuff anyway.

Willowisp · 29/09/2012 10:28

I think that's the problem challenge. I'm not a big foodie, I'm not especially greedy (apart from choc puddings). I'd possible be happy with a pill.

But I'll make my way...protein salad for lunch, protein veg for tea. I like the nuts. I'm obsessed with my bowels functioning daily. For that will try linseeds soaked with a tsp oil.

I completely buy into the low carb & probably like others, it's a world away from what I normally eat.

Skinny jeans are calling !

halfthesize · 29/09/2012 10:30

princess sorry to hear about DH not being so supportive, hope you are feeling happier today, just ignore himSmile

BigStickBIWI · 29/09/2012 10:31

Don't forget the fat - butter on veg/oily dressing on salad. It's the thing that most people find hard when they switch to low carbing, because it runs counter to everything we have been told over the last 30 or so years.

And you need to stop worrying about daily going!

MrsHerculePoirot · 29/09/2012 10:35

princess sorry to hear about your less than supportive DH - lets PROVE HIM WRONG. Just smile knowingly and watch as the weigh falls off you I say...

I am soooooooo looking forward to Monday. Hope my new scales arrive soon...

HumphreyCobbler · 29/09/2012 11:21

ooh, I started early and am already seeing some results due to cutting out cheese.

I am STARVING today though, which is strange as I should be in ketosis by now. Although my period is due so maybe this is why.

MrsHerculePoirot · 29/09/2012 11:47

Just watching that Nigella thing now with the Meatza - it is sort of like a meatloaf, but it is round and much flatter (maybe a couple of cm thick). Basically mince, eggs, parmesan, herbs all worked together and then pushed down into tin. Covered in drained tinned tomatoes, covered in slices of mozzarella then in oven for about 20 minutes. Looks yum it has to be said!

HumphreyCobbler · 29/09/2012 11:51

Anyone else noticed a distinct improvement in their cooking skills? I feel I have really got to grips with vegetables for the first time. The other day, when I cooked a load of runner beans, mixed with smoked haddock and added a garlic vinagrette, DH asked me where the recipe had come from. I was just seeing what was in the fridge.

BigStickBIWI · 29/09/2012 11:53

Go you! Grin

I think one of the best things about eating this way is that it becomes about good food. So much of what people tend to eat these days is processed and pre-prepared.

HumphreyCobbler · 29/09/2012 11:55

We are about to butcher the pigs.
Will be making low carb sausages this year.Grin

BigStickBIWI · 29/09/2012 11:56

I hope they have big bellies, for all that lovely roast belly pork and crackling!

HumphreyCobbler · 29/09/2012 12:00

They do actually - the are half wild boar and half Kune Kune. One of them has a belly that drags along the floor. Own reared pigs have a MUCH bigger layer of fat than commercial pork.

Unfortunately DS has named them Shock This could prove problematic...

BigStickBIWI · 29/09/2012 12:00

Yes, I'm not really sure I envy you the slaughtering bit!

aroomofherown · 29/09/2012 13:11

Right I'm starting today. Have planned and shopped and frankly, can't wait to eat delicious food that makes me feel great Smile

Will be trying celeriac mash tonight for the first time with a steak and creamy mushroom sauce. Roast pork belly tomorrow with creamy cauliflower. Roasted tomato soup will be made this afternoon.

Going to try for a variety of colours of veges every day.

If I'm checking carb count on things what should I be aiming for? Around less than 3g per 100g?

sybilfaulty · 29/09/2012 13:21

Very excited about Monday. Love the fact that there is so much talk about delicious food on the thread and so many of us are feeling excited and eager to get going.

I might make the meatza tomorrow to see what it's like. Will report back.

BigStickBIWI · 29/09/2012 13:22

Depends what it is/how much of you'll be eating, to be honest. Anything around 3-4g should be fine.

NigellasGuest · 29/09/2012 13:31

Looking forward to monday as well!
I have been very good recently and I'm looking forward to weighing in on Monday because I am hoping to start the LBD bootcamp having already been trying hard for a week. Hit the ground running as they say!

I also saw her making the Meatsa and thought it looked great from a LC pov - may even try making it today.
