The Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - starting in 2 week's time!

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:43

Following on from the success of Bootcamp v1, where we lost in the region of 70 stone between us, we will be running a 10 week v2 Bootcamp, starting on Monday 1 October.

This is designed to take us up to the end of the first week in December, by which time you should have lost at least half a stone - and that's being pessimistic. There's every chance you could lose more than a stone over that period of time! Plenty of time to make sure that you can get into that Little Black Dress without the lumps and bumps showing too much.

This is how it will work:

The first two weeks will be very strict. I will shout at you a lot and will wave my big stick around with gay abandon. After this period, you can then relax into Bootcamp Light or, if it suits you, stick with Bootcamp for the remaining 8 weeks.

We have a Spreadsheet of Marvellousness, which will be upated each week, so that you can plot your progress.

There are 10 simple rules here , and it's really easy to do. No weighing or counting (unless you really want to). And above all, lots of support from all those who are doing it alongside you.

Who is up for it?

Lunch was 2 slices of chargrilled chiken breast.

Dinner is roast chicken, butternut mash, savoy cabbage, fine green beans and some carrot! O and some red cabbage!!

Omg i sound like a right pig... Im feeling like one too after DPs lecture on my weight loss earlier, feel like poo Sad

teaandthorazine · 28/09/2012 19:14

Princess that all sounds great (just watch the carrot and red cabbage, I think). What has your dp said to make you feel bad?

Dinner tonight is low carb sausages with celeriac dauphinwotsit, green beans and shredded cabbage. Yum! Have made the celeriac with blue cheese, can't wait to eat it Grin Am on call tonight so hoping the phone doesn't ring before I've had the chance...

WillieWaggledagger · 28/09/2012 19:21

Princess is your dp being less than supportive?

I had pan-fried duck breast with my mum's homegrown broccoli and courgette.

BigStickBIWI · 28/09/2012 19:23

Why on earth is he lecturing you, Princess?

Willow - one thing you really won't need too much of is willpower if you are low carbing properly. You won't be hungry and you can eat delicious food. But you do have to know what you're doing, and get your head around the fact that you can't eat fruit (for the first two weeks).

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 28/09/2012 19:31

Early meal and unfortunately I've blown out and just eaten tikka masala, mushroom rice, samosas and onion bhajis. Back on track tomorrow just hope it hasn't messed things up too much. I've done so well this last week, very disappointed in my lack of willpower.

theselegswermad · 28/09/2012 19:35

Please add me to the list, managed to lose 1 1/2 stone last year doing it and felt sooo good, but have now put it all back on :(

SingingTunelessly · 28/09/2012 19:56

Frumpet the IPD cookbook is the Idiot Proof Diet diet by India Knight and Nerris Hughes, they also did the Pig too Twig book both worth getting.

Princess what's happening with DH?

Willowisp · 28/09/2012 20:18

I've got a recipe in this months Good Food mag for aubergine something or other, which is low carb (yippee!) so may have that tomorrow.

Sunday dinner will be roast chicken, with the celeriac thing& broccoli (I have the LPD cook book).

Just out of interest, I have a The New High Protein Diet book, which is pretty good. It was free years ago with a magazine, but it often appears in charity shops (saw it today).

Despite me craving the wet (aka sweet fruits) I don't actually have my of an appetite...it's almost like I can't be bothered.

Sorry about your DH Princess, he possibly feels like he'll have to smarten himself up if you lost weight ? My DH is intrigued by the volume of my lunches ! (hope it works, I am desperately wanting to wear skinny jeans...)

Willowisp · 28/09/2012 20:20

PS would it be too much for people to post about there...erm...toilet habits ? I was an every morning girl, but now every other day (& bricks they are Grin)

BigStickBIWI · 28/09/2012 20:20

That book is really good, Willow. It's what first got me interested/involved in low carbing. It explains the theory behind it really simply and clearly. I seem to remember that there are some good recipes in there as well?

And not having an appetite is a good sign - it signals that you're in ketosis, so you are moving into fat-burning rather than carb-burning.

Willowisp · 28/09/2012 20:32

yes there are good recipes, I hadn't really looked at them as I'm basicially eating fish + salad/fried veg/veg....There's a good curry recipe & each recipe has the amount of carbs per portion.

The author's Dr Charles Clark

BigStickBIWI · 28/09/2012 21:24

Make sure you're eating plenty of fat as well - so fry in butter/put butter on your veg, use an oily dressing on your salad, add (full fat) mayo, etc

PrincessSparkle86 · 28/09/2012 22:04

He said how can i be losing weight by eating bacon and eggs all the time, jokingly calls me a beast which isnt funny! Said how much weight had i lost this month... I said probably a kilo because ive been up down and was eating the wring things.. Then he said well thats nothing i could easily lose 2lb in a day. When i said why is he akways pushing and lecturing me he just bit back saying i needed encouragement.
I suggested all the naughty snacks be removed and everyone else eats healthier and he point blank refused!!

Viperidae · 28/09/2012 22:06

I am having guests this weekend (arriving tomorrow) so decided I would have a carbfest to clear out the cupboards before Monday and am surprising myself by not really wanting stuff as much as I thought I would Confused.
I will be counting down from 100 on the spreadsheet as there is no way I'm admitting my weight publicly (if I told you I'd have to kill you!)

I usually have eggs with bacon, ham or sausage for breakfast. Any suggestions for alternatives if we're avoiding processed meats? Btw I HATE cheese, it's vile, so that's no good for me.

Keep the big stick handy BIWI as I plan to go cold turkey on Diet Coke which will be hard.

PrincessSparkle86 · 28/09/2012 22:07

Sorry for the spelling mistakes, was writing quick and infuriated Angry

WineGless · 28/09/2012 22:08

Princess, it's hard living with a doubter. My DH is just coming to terms with the fact that this is not a diet, it's a way of eating and it's permanent!
You have done so well and most people have a stall about now as I think it is your body getting used to fat burning instead if carb burning

What does he eat? Who does the cooking

Just remember nothing tastes as good as being slim feels

BigStickBIWI · 28/09/2012 22:08

Well he couldn't lose 2lbs in a day, Princess, that's stupid.

Ignore, ignore, ignore. Just imagine him as your toddler.

Let him eat what he wants. He/his weight is not your responsibility. Your weight is your responsibility.

And make sure that you are up on your reading, so that you have the arguments to counter his.

WineGless · 28/09/2012 22:12

Viper

Boiled eggs mashed with butter or mayo
Left over meals - no reason why you have to eat certain food at breakfast time- just a cultural norm
Greek yoghurt with little vanilla essence if you want flavour
Celery filled with cream cheese

We all started off with a weight we didn't want to be and the point of the threads is to support each other to get to where we DO want to be

PrincessSparkle86 · 28/09/2012 22:14

Thanks guys... Hes very slim and can et whatever he likes and doesnt put on weight! He takes crap to work.. Says i he disnt eat all the crisps and chocolate then hed lose weight and he dont want to and apparently thats what my children need ( biscuits etc) to keep them going.. Not fruit!!

Levantine · 28/09/2012 22:19

So, snacks in phase one .....

hard boiled eggs
cold meat
cucumber

what else can I have?

and what are people taking to work for lunch?

WineGless · 28/09/2012 22:24

If you are prepared and make soup before you could take in a thermos for lunch, otherwise I normally take a salad to work or leftovers from tea.

Snacks
Celery filled with cream cheese (full fat)
Pâté with cucumber slices
Salami/ ham rolled up filled with cream cheese
Boiled eggs

To be honest when I am
Boot camping I don't want or need to snack as am full up

BigStickBIWI · 28/09/2012 22:25

Snacks;

olives
cheese (in moderation)
celery - to which you can add cream cheese, peanut butter, pate

However - once you are into low carbing/ketosis, you will find that you are much less hungry, and the need to snack will abate considerably. And in many ways, snacking is a habit - something we do, and not because we're hungry.

Lunch

I'm lucky in that I work from home, which makes it considerably easier. Do you have a microwave at work? I often have leftovers from the previous night's dinner.

Tin of tuna with mayo and salad
Cold meats/fish, as above

If you have a big supermarket near you, often they have a rotisserie section, and you can buy cooked chicken there. (Avoid the flavoured ones, as they have a lot of sugar on them)

WineGless · 28/09/2012 22:40
