New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

Hair Envy of that lovely sounding walk - I never get any time or peace to myself with a 20 MO, actually, the only time I get to myself is when I'm at the gym (which might be why I like going so much!) ,although it can't be said to be peaceful and quiet!

Good news Wednesday today for me - a few weeks ago I squeezed on my engagement ring for 1st time since I was pg, then a few weeks later I got on my wedding ring (half a size smaller) but I couldn't fit both on together. Today, I am wearing both rings together Grin [proud] . Has anyone else reached any mini milestones which would mean nothing to anyone else but means alot to them recently? Thought sharing might help keep us motivated and give today a real good-news-wednesday feel [positive]

InMySpareTime · 24/10/2012 08:21

I'm now able to wear clothes I haven't worn for over half a decade,
my wedding ring is actually getting so loose I'm worried I might lose it somewhere,
I can run places without getting out of breath,
I enjoy lettuce!
I recently held a friend's 8 month old ( and big with it) baby, and realised I'd lost more than he weighed, and had carried that weight with me all the time! No wonder I couldn't run far.
My thighs no longer rub together, so trousers last longer.
My "tight" bras are now getting so loose I can take them off over my head without unhooking them.
And many other small victoriesGrin.

TheOneWithTheHair · 24/10/2012 08:26

reastie that's wonderful news. I bet dh is thrilled too. Well done! :)

Good news Wednesday? Well I've stuck to my diet this week. I might have a sneaky weigh in on Friday to give me motivation for the weekend. I think it will help. Motivational Monday really worked for me this week. I really needed to talk it through and it helped massively.

I know we're all aiming for Christmas but I'm not going to reach my ultimate goal by then. I hope you'll all still be here afterwards. I have a feeling I'll need help. Hmm

Eggs for lunch today and something with quorn for dinner. Salmon with cheese sounds great though IMST.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 24/10/2012 08:38

Well done everyone. Reastie, brilliant idea.
My good news Wednesday is that I am sticking to it so far. I'll need some motivation tomorrow please when ill be home and surrounded by temptation and the Halloween sweets

sleepychunky · 24/10/2012 10:09

Hello everybody, am I in trouble for not posting for so long? I keep meaning to and then forgetting or getting distracted by something or someone else.
I've got a couple of days off work so am sitting in an empty house for the first time in absolutely AGES. And I wanted to post to tell you the good news that I have now lost exactly 2 stone since I started in the middle of July! Smile
I'm still plodding along with MFP and going to zumba every week, which I absolutely love. I'm finding it difficult now though that autumn is here as all of my autumn clothes from last year are way too big and I can't afford to buy any new stuff yet. Loads of people have been noticing my weight loss now, and yesterday I was putting some old photos into albums and was looking at pictures of me in Tenerife in March. It was the thought of next year's holiday in April and not wanting to look like I do in this year's pictures which was one of my main motivations for starting my diet and so it was good to look at the pictures and know that I look much better than that already, and by April I hope it will be even better.
I had quite a long time of not losing anything, which was pretty demotivating and also probably why I wasn't posting as I didn't really have anything to say.
Anyway, next target is another 5lb to take me over the next stone barrier - hopefully can do that in the next month and then maybe another couple of pounds before Christmas.
Keep it up everyone, and IMST love your small victories!

Love the small victories, especially tickled (although not sure why) about IMST taking her bras off over her head without unhooking them Grin

Finally my first RL comment that I've lost weight today - it's only taken me over 40lbs of weight loss to get someone to comment!! Feels good that someone actually noticed though I hope she wasn't just being polite . She did jaw drop a little when I said I'd lost over 3 stone, but that might be as 3 stone is a huge amount to her as she's tres petite.

hi sleepy fingers crossed for your 5lb target.

Lardbean · 25/10/2012 08:46

Ok here's my mini milestone.... I'm normally a shower person but yesterday I had my first bath in about 6 weeks. I had to top up the water as less was being displaced by my enourmous mass! Should really have called the dcs in for an impromptu science lesson Grin

reastie · 25/10/2012 09:14

lardbean what an excellent mini milestone Grin . In odd milestones I'm finding my feet have gone down nearly one size Shock Confused great excuse for some new boots

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/10/2012 09:34

I don't have any mini milestones yet but see me in three weeks. [determined]

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 25/10/2012 10:57

Sleepy, 2st since July is fantastic! Lol at lardbean's bath.
Well done reastie for the s14s. Tht seemed a huge milestone for me, I was a 14 pre children, and so I felt back to normal. if I'm ever a 12 I suppose that will be another milestone.
Hair if you don't mind me asking how is stoptober going?
Not seen oblomov or Kato in a while.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 25/10/2012 10:59

I too have noticed I have smaller feet Shock. I've always been between 2 sizes, used to get the larger but they're falling off me now. Sure I never used to have chubby toes

KatoPotato · 25/10/2012 11:13

Ladies, I'm back!

Life has been all viewings and mortgages and stress and we've still not got our official offer yet...

But hurray to all the mini victories! Love bath water displacement, size 14s and longer life trousers!

Can I indulge?

I've lost 2.5 stone since July, which is 3.5 in a year.
My target was 11st by halloween and thats (fingers crossed) looking liek it may be the case
My new size 14 skinny jeans are tres loose at the top and I may even try a 12...
I'm lighter on my feet
I can do full body press ups
I have visible bisceps (only on flexing)
I can plank for 4 minutes
I look forward to takeways as a treat and not as the norm - so now they taste Amazing
I've never touched another munchy box!
My posture has improved
I enjoy going to the gym
I enjoy feeling the pain the day after a good workout
A friend said to me that I'm 'fading away' which is, frankly, hilarious but appreciated!

But unfortunately It's brought out the worst in some people who've been used to having a fat jolly friend to make them feel better about themselves! You're allowed to be outspoken and make funny observations or court conversation at parties when you're overweight, but when you lose weight you're suddenly 'a bit overconfident!?'

It's sad and I've lost two friends (remember the 'fat pie' friend?) but I'm better off... I think :(

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 25/10/2012 11:22

Kato your list (and weight loss) is brilliant and I really hope you manage to hit 11st (or lower) by the end of October. You are inspiring me! Sorry to hear you have lost friends though, that is utterly crap.

I was laughing a bit at your list, as I think you are approaching this will a lot more energy than me. My tak on your list would be:

My target was 11st by halloween and thats (fingers crossed) looking liek it may be the case Me too - oh didn't I say? Hallowe'en is now the 30th of November
I can do full body press ups I can do full body press uP
I can plank for 4 minutes I now know what a plank is
I look forward to takeways as a treat and not as the norm - so now they taste Amazing completely agree with this

Seriously though, and this is a huge one for me, I realised I have spent most of my adult life feeling over full and bloated. I had absolutely no idea, as it has been normal for me for so long :( I have rarely felt hungry when I have a meal. How pathetic, but how nice not to feel that way any more. It's nice to feel 'stuffed' after a big meal every once in a while, but not all day every day. I can't believe it has taken me this long to realise

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 25/10/2012 11:23

someone has left a box of mini brownies in my kitchen Angry.
I blame grandma
they are 70 cals each so will you all have one, remove them from my temptation?

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 25/10/2012 11:30

Just thought of another small victory - I've managed to maintain the diet through omg time, so I can do it. Chocolate stuffing is not justified.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 25/10/2012 11:31

Pmt time

KatoPotato · 25/10/2012 11:38

Stealth thanks for the update re Halloween date changing, that now gives me ample time finish DS's lion costume!

Food re-education is really a biggie, and letting treats actually be a treat and not the norm has been a huge part in my success so far.

Have to re-hash my learning curve about my trim friend who I assumed ate the same as me but was 'lucky with her metabolism' did indeed calorie check, eat well, had takeaways as a treat and worked her ass off at spin class!

This thread has been the best though, I've been booted and saluted!

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 25/10/2012 11:42

yes, the thought that thin people eat less than me really was a revelation. Which sounds so stupid!

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 25/10/2012 11:46

PS you do know that Hallowe'en hasn't really changed/, don't you?? Just checking...I found out on here that some people think it's like Easter and the date varies from year to year!

KatoPotato · 25/10/2012 11:52

Haha no don't worry, I know full well I'm going to have shocking morning thanks to the clocks changing then have to endure a 'spooky wooky toddler party!!'

Trying to make his costume more 'cowardly lion' going to facepaint on some mouth lines and stick a bow and medal on??

Sandrute · 25/10/2012 12:56

Eat more eggs. And I will try to do it. Just from today. 3 children mother, 170 cm/80 kg.

Sandrute · 25/10/2012 13:03

Would like to loose around 1,5 stone. Any sugestions on the food choos.? 5,7 tall and curent wait is 12 stone.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 25/10/2012 13:09

Hi sandrute :) are you new to the thread (apols, I have vanished a few times so may have missed people joining).

Eggs definitely good. Someone else suggested ryvita, houmous, cucumber, black pepper. That is now my standard lunch at home. Warburton thins good if you want a sandwich. I eat loads of salad. Quorn seems to be quite filling but low cal nd fat. Mushrooms good for bulking meals out.
Just imo anyway :) need to keep repeating this to myself.
Oh and apparently binge eating chocolate does not make the weight drop off. Who'd have thought!

reastie · 25/10/2012 13:49

Hi sandrute . I'd say soup is fab (as long as it isn't full of cream etc!). I always have soup with some boring yeast free and everything else free buckwheat and millet bread (I have a special diet though) for dinner every day. Oh, and I have a low calorie hot choc every day to satisfy my sugar/chocolate fix, because I know I couldn't stop at a tiny amount of proper chocolate as my will power is so bad, so it's easier not to have any!

Btw, whoever said I fitted into size 14's - I haven't, you've got me muddled with someone else - I wish I would! I haven't been a size 14 in about 8 years...but one day!! I'm nearing a 3.5 stone loss now [proud]

stealth if it was me I would never be able to stop at one brownie!

kato hope the house move when it happens goes OK - do you know if you'll manage to move before christmas? How Hmm about the way people treat you. It's odd isn't it. I put on alot of weight in a short space of time (about 5 stone in a year or so with/after being pg with dd and bfing) and IMO people looked at me and behaved with me differently. This is an odd one, but the younger men I work with barely even said hello to me when I weighed my most, before they always chatted and were v nice Hmm
