New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

Agree with the others hair you are probably building muscle and toning up rather than just losing fat. Have you taken any body measurements to chart how your body is changing? Regardless of weight loss I bet you are healthier now than when you started out. Keep going and be proud of what you've achieved already.

LollipopViolet · 24/09/2012 11:47

Hello all. There must've been something in the air yesterday - I lived on doughnuts and fast food whilst spending the day in Manchester - oops Blush

So, weighed in expecting a maintain or gain. Shock I lost a pound so am now 12 stone 10. Still not sure how that happened.

The weather is foul here so I'm having today as a rest day and then hitting the gym hard tomorrow. There's a possibility of doing a bodypump class, and a spin class before that. I've done that combo before so I know I can do it, just need to find the motivation to sign up and then get to the gym.

Actually, the pound loss might've been due to the MILES walking round Manchester (I'm not local and was looking for the Arndale) - especially with Metrolink doing engineering works in the city centre, so I had to negotiate a bus to Deansgate then get my tram to Altrincham, to meet my mates at the ice hockey. They gave me a lift home - they normally pick me up but were in another bit of the country this weekend. So I think I've earned a day in the warm today :)

InMySpareTime · 24/09/2012 13:05

Weighed in just before school run at 12st 5lb, BMI just squeaked under 34 finallyGrin.

LollipopViolet · 24/09/2012 13:28

My BMI is 2 away from being out of Obese and just plain Overweight Grin

I'll be so happy when I hit 1 stone gone - in about 6 weeks if the current pound a week off trend keeps going.

I don't understand how some people can lose 2lbs in a week, and I get rid of them one by one - very annoying, as it'll take 68 weeks at my current pace for me to get to goal weight.

TheOneWithTheHair · 24/09/2012 13:43

Sorry about this morning. I posted in total pissed offness iykwim. I'm better now. Head screwed back on right. Grin

Not going to weigh till next week though.

Well done all today's losers! :)

lollipop are you reasonably near Manchester then?

LollipopViolet · 24/09/2012 13:46

About 40 minutes on the train TheOne, but don't tend to get to go much - yesterday was a rare occasion, though there will probably be a few more times between now and the end of the hockey season - I usually only go up for the day if I'm going to a game and my friends have to meet me at the rink :)

TheOneWithTheHair · 24/09/2012 13:49

Just wondered because there's a meet up in October in Manchester centre. I wondered if you fancied coming along?

reastie · 24/09/2012 14:04

lollipop yes I know re: the 1lb a week. Someone on my mn post natal thread has lost over 8 stone in the past year ( Shock ) and some weeks she loses 7lb in one week - how does she do it?! I'm now BMI 34.5 I think - which is over 5 points less than I was. I'm also half way to my pre preg weight now (but still 1.5 stones on top of that for my slimmest adult weight), so there is progress it's just it feels so slow. FWIW when I lost weight before I would sometimes only lose 1 lb a month, but over a couple of years I got there, and I maintained until I was pg (which is what got me in this state), so slowly but surely i guess.

MilkshakeMaker · 24/09/2012 16:34

I haven't lost a stone yet from the original thread...and I bloody started it! So don't feel down Hair, as IMST says muscle is heavier than fat and I wish I had that excuse!

You should feel good knowing how much you have lost already, and regardless of how stubborn it is you won't give up on it...go hair!

MilkshakeMaker · 24/09/2012 16:38

Stupid phone hid loads of posts from me.

MumOfAPickle · 24/09/2012 18:40

Hi, just checking in. After a busy week with dd's 2nd birthday (2 cakes baked) and my first day at work (not sure where to get lunch, not wanting to say no to leaving snacks Blush and 2 meals out, I have managed to lose 1lb! Pretty sure it'll catch up with me next week though... Well done to everyone else who lost Smile

TheOneWithTheHair · 24/09/2012 18:42

Thanks Milkshake. Honestly I'm over it. But I'd better lose next week. Grin

Good morning everyone,
I'm supposed to be doing more work in the nursery garden today, given the weather I can't see that happeningGrin.
(It's a bit rainy again)
What are you lot up to?

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/09/2012 07:50

Morning. I'm going back to body balance today. It shouldn't be too bad.

IMST a non weightloss related question. If ds2 plants the seeds from his Granny Smith apple that came from a supermarket, will they actually grow?

InMySpareTime · 25/09/2012 08:06

Yes, but the tree could end up huge, as most commercial varieties are grafted onto quince rootstocks to keep the fruit within picking height.

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/09/2012 08:24

Ok. Thank you. I'm not sure we'll get as far as a tree. As long as he gets a shoot to look at. Grin

Oblomov · 25/09/2012 10:26

Lollipop, reastie and hair, have faith, like all the others have said. I know it is dis-heartening when you really try and there is no loss, but it will come.

I had not a bad day yesterday. I found the 'fasting' (500 calories) not too bad. Or not as bad as i thought. I think it helps that I was working.
I ate:
3 cups green tea. I normal tea.
Lunch I had some lettuce, 2 bits crispy bacon, 6 cherry tomatoes, 3 spring onions, and 2 drops of balsamic vinegar.
For dinner I had 2 salmon fillets. And steamed brocolli. I think I was only supposed to eat one of the fillets,( the 2 fillets together were 217 calories) but I have no sense of portion control, I am hoping tha will come, once my stomach starts to shrink?
But 8pm, presumably because I had eaten no carbs and had given myself too much insulin, I was hypo ( blood sugar of 2.7 which is VERY Low) and had to have a swig of lucozade. BUGGER.
I think I was over 500 calories, but am not really sure.

Today, after a green tea, I have walked the school run and played in the park with ds2, on the way home. Arrived home to find myself hypo AGAIN. So ate a scotch egg, drizzled in salad cream. Looked at the packet: 235 calories. Shock
I am a calorie counting VIRGIN. ( It's been many yeras since anyone called me a Virgin Anything Wink. Having never taken ANY notice of how many calories were in anything, this is quite a shock. Hardly surprising, that funnily enough, all my favourite things are calorific.
This is going to be a marathon, not a sprint !!

MilkshakeMaker · 25/09/2012 10:29

I've been online most of the morning trying to decide on if I should hire a carpet cleaner, pay someone to do it or buy my own one so I can do it often and keep them nice...any opinions?

I did well yesterday, failed at the fast 500 but came in nicely at 850, so well under for normal cals, how is everyone getting on with the junk mail challenge?

InMySpareTime · 25/09/2012 12:47

You know how there was no way I was gardening today?
I got in, boss said "you've got your gardening stuff?" I said "er, but it's chucking down"
"Then you'd best put your hood up, out you go!"
On the up side, I no longer feel guilty for leaving them in the lurch.

LollipopViolet · 25/09/2012 14:11

I failed to go to the gym again - it was cold and rainy when I woke up, so I've stayed in.

I will go tomorrow - the weather is supposed to be improving.

I've not had a bad food day today, so I'm happy.

Just done yet another job application and am going to a job fair on Thursday. I desperately want to see Iron Maiden at Donnington next year, so this unemployment lark needs to stop ASAP!

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/09/2012 17:28

Milkshake if it's not too late I'd say don't waste your money getting someone in. Hire one first and then if you think you'll do it on a regular basis then invest in one.

Well done everyone on the food front. Everyone seems motivated this week.

Well since last week I've had no junk mail so no stair running for me. I'll probably get ten tomorrow. Hmm

IMST sounds like your boss is going to be really nice to you until you leave. Confused. Don't let her take the mic even more than normal.

Oblomov · 25/09/2012 18:41

Milshake, my sil, who works for morrisons, got one from work. thye hire them out to staff and customers alike. dh used it, and it was totally fab.

reastie · 25/09/2012 18:42

milkshake we've got a bissell carpet cleaner. It is good and I do like it but it's not as good as getting a professional in. I'd go with hairs sensible advice. Btw I've also hired one in the past - not that great - defnintely professionals are better

IMST Shock to the gardening. DH is a gardener and he's very weather proof!

Been to the gym today Grin . Also looking at giving up my job, but DH says I need to bring in at least £100 a week for us to cope financially - trying to look at things I can do which leaves me time to go to the gym still alot - as, dare I say it, I'm putting myself above my job for once.

InMySpareTime · 25/09/2012 21:26

My hoodie is still wet despite being on the radiator all day.
I stayed under calories though, despite 2 glasses of wine (I'm halfway through the first one now)
