Well done Dawn!

I did two of the shorted Insanity workouts last night - core cardio and balance (which is one of the easier ones) plus cardio abs. I will either be doing another Insanity or going for a run today - depends on how quickly the plasterer who is here finishes doing our kitchen ceiling. It has a window in to the conservatory where I do all my exercise and I dont think either he or I could cope with him watching me!!

BalloonSlayer · 23/08/2012 09:37

Well done Dawn and everyone else!

Day 4 Level 2 done this morning. Still haven't managed to do it all - only completed 27 out of 30 of the exercises this morning Sad

But I can feel my stomach muscles like a band across my lower abdomen, like I am wearing a low belt. And my waist looks really small! I have been eating low carb dinners though, which are boring as fuck, so the waist bit is mostly down to that. Not lost much weight to speak of though. Ah well!

I do love the Shred. It's the only exercise thingy I have ever done where I have been able to see the results in my body - and so fast!

ihatethecold · 23/08/2012 11:14

Does anyone find that after finishing your jm dvd that you are completely knackered. Not just after but 1 hour later. Say once youve had a shower etc
Sone days i feel so drained after. Not full of energy At all Sad

CHST · 23/08/2012 12:10

ihatethecold what is your diet like? I have felt like that in the past but I think it was because I needed more fuel. Also, I have been incredibly under stress recently (bereavement) which doesn't help things either.

Am back from holidays. Did not exercise every day. I did walk a fair bit but also relaxed a lot, drank cocktails which is surprising as I am virtually tee total at other times, ate ice cream and still even lost 1 lb. go figure? Either the relaxation has done me good or maybe I lost some muscle mass.
I did ripped level 4 last night and found it hard. So I clearly need to get back into the swing of things. Sweated loads and hate the second cardio circuit as always. Did up the weights though so that could be it. Toying with the idea of being gentle to myself today and picking an easier Jillian. I am really at maintenance now so I need to figure out the balance of food vs exercise to see what works best. Thinking of going for a second round of body revolution again on monday...

gypsyfloss · 23/08/2012 12:25

Glad you had a relaxing holiday CHST. I've just started Body revolution...did 3 days then had a 3 day break and have just done workout 1 again this morning. Did you stick to it 6 days a week? Is there more ab work as you get further in? I'm toying with 3 days of it a week and then 2 days of 6w6p. I am struggling to keep weight on atm so don't want to overtrain ; it's finding the balance with time and diet too.

sweetkitty · 23/08/2012 12:35

Day 1 of level 2 30 DS Argh!!!!!!

Spent half the time trying to get it and the other half trying to do it, I have no upper body strength so all the plank wotsits are soooo hard, pulled a muscle in my inner thigh half way through too. Can tell why it gets results though.

In my defence (kind of) I have my period so am crampy and generally urgh today plus I have been an absolute pig in the last few days and eaten all my birthday chocolate.

My main trouble zone is my bum and thighs they are huge compared to the rest of me, ok my stomachs not great either (4 babies in less than 6 years).

Dawnpreview - hope you enjoy it too

dawnpreview · 23/08/2012 12:47

Sweetkitty- I am scared now! Hope your pulled muscle recovers soon

CHST · 23/08/2012 12:47

gypsy there is more core work later on. I did not find the workouts challenging till I got to about workout 5 and 6. I did do it 6 days a week at first but towards the end, did just one cardio a week as I didn't want too much cardio as I am at the weight I want, else I subbed a cardio for another cardio.
I hope you enjoy body revolution as much as I have. I really want to do it again. It is probably my favourite programm of all hers, no scrap that, it is my favourite

ihatethecold · 23/08/2012 12:48

My diet is ok. Eggs for breaky. Salad but no carbs for lunch. Then normal dinner.
Will snack aswell. Bit of dark choc fruit. Maybe some toast or nuts
Am eating all my allowed cals on mfp. 1200 plus my exercise cals. I never have any left over.
Dont have caffiene or alcohol!
Nit sure what else j can do to maje my diet better for energy levels.

CHST · 23/08/2012 13:01

more protein maybe? Aside from the eggs, how much protein are you getting? How about some wholemeal bread with that salad or are you on really low carbs? I can't live without carbs, seriously couldnt but I eat wholemeal bread and pasta although not every day, I have subbed white potatoes for sweet potato and I have achieved good weight loss with this and must have quite a low body fat %

gypsyfloss · 23/08/2012 14:19

Cheers CHST I am enjoying it so far and none of it is too hard yet, however it does make my hips and left knee ache. The stretches are poor I think, so I am spending longer doing those. I think form is v important too and have had DH spend some time with me correcting my position. I think I need a mirror I can ponce about in front of :)

ihatethecold · 23/08/2012 14:23

I do have protein in my lunchtime salad. Mostly ham and cottage cheese or a tuna wrap. For dinner i will have somthing like spag bol but very little pasta or chicken with cauli mash. I eat the same as rest of family but try to reduce the white carbs.

BalloonSlayer · 23/08/2012 14:51

ihatethecold at what time do you do the Shred?

I find if I do it within an hour of eating I have no energy whatsoever, I can't do a thing. Presumably all my blood is in my stomach helping carry away my food so it sticks two fingers up to my muscles' desperate requests for help. Grin

I know your energy slump comes afterwards, but perhaps it is worth doing it at another time of day to see if it makes a difference?

I get up, have one cup of tea, then Shred, then have another tea and breakfast. The rest of the day I am fine - I wouldn't say I feel full of energy because I never do Grin but I don't feel knackered.

I just think maybe we all have an optimum time of day for exercise and you need to find yours.

ihatethecold · 23/08/2012 15:13

I usually do it about 10am during school hols. About 1.5 hours after breakfast.
If I leave it to do later like the eve then I run out of time or energy Sad

CHST · 23/08/2012 15:34

gypsy that's what I like about Body revolution, the first stage really focuses on form so that come the later stages form and balance are tremendously improved to take it up a notch eg lots of one legged balancing

gypsyfloss · 23/08/2012 15:45

Oh joy...one leg balancing ...with added hard stuff :)

CHST · 23/08/2012 16:07

I promise you will be ready for it when the time comes ;) Are you on your first or second week?

gypsyfloss · 23/08/2012 18:38

Technically still week 1 as I had a 3 day break after my first 2 strength and 1 cardio sessions . I might pretend it's the second week though and move on to week 3 so I don't get bored.

threestepsforward · 23/08/2012 21:54

A very good evening all Smile

I'm liking all this talk of Body Revolution, can't wait til it comes out over here...

CHST good to see you back, glad you had a good holiday, sounds like just the ticket Smile

Well, I have had a long flirtation with Charlean and Turbofire, but today I went back to my first love Jillian, and loved it Grin I just did L1 Shred (not the double session I was contemplating), but really enjoyed it. I wasn't really sweaty at the end, but enjoyed the strength stuff and the bits I'm missing by doing just turbofire. Was feeling that my arms and abs were not quite as tight, and my buns less steely, so felt good to do some JM again!

I think I will do another Shred tomorrow and then that will be it until the 4th when I'm back from bonnie Scotland and London.

When I get back, I'm thinking I will be mixing up JM and Turbofire, perhaps out of 6 sessions a week: 4 x JM and 2 x Turbo for my cardio blast (it really is a fab workout for that). Does that sound like a good plan?

Will check in tomorrow before I head up to scotland to be devoured by midges!

I think that sounds like a good plan threesteps. Have a lovely holiday :)

Jellybellyrbest · 24/08/2012 00:43

Hi there! Posted ages ago; had started shredding, but with small baby/holidays fell off the wagon. Have lurked ever since though & am proud to say am well & truly on my way to being shredded ;-)

Having peaked at 9st 1lb mid July, am 8st 10 tonight! I've lost a total of 6.7 inches!!!! Had my final Bridesmaid fitting this evening & am way happier about following my sister down the aisle next Friday.

Despite fully BF an 18wk old & having my 6 & 4 yr old with me constantly, & a week's holiday, I've managed to Shred 18 days out of the last 24. Am proud of myself. Many days I could quite easily have phoned it in, but didn't! Mostly though am so so grateful to you lot for being so inspirational & making me believe that I CAN do it!! Love love love this thread. Thank you all!

Quick question; have now done 10days at L2 & have seen most change since I started it. Does L3 have the same results?

gypsyfloss · 24/08/2012 08:57

Well done Jelly- am very impressed that you kept it all going through the hols with the kids in tow & what an inch loss! I'm sure you'll look fab in your dress :)

Perhaps you noticed a big change on moving to L2 as your body was getting used to L1 exercises and the new ones challenged your body again. So in theory you should notice a difference again when you move on to L3.

dawnpreview · 24/08/2012 09:01

Wow jelly, that's a fantastic inch loss :)
Just done day 1 of level 2 shred- oh my good god that was hard! I did manage most of it though, but really struggled on the last circuit. Can barely lift my cup now!

Greedygirl · 24/08/2012 10:06

Hi guys, just on train so can't do a proper post, enjoying reading all your posts though. Well done Dawn and Jellybelly!

Going to see Foo Fighters later today so just did a 3 mile run this morning, really, really enjoyed it, legs feeling strong (JM lunges!) breathing great, thanks all for keeping me going Smile!

gypsyfloss · 24/08/2012 12:11

Ohhh the Foos, how fantastic. I do love a bit of Dave Grohl. It's particularly good music to run to as well. Have a brilliant time...am just a little bit Envy
