aw thanks greedygirl Trouble is I rarely dress up so I always struggle with what looks right, as nothing feels right as I'm normally in jeans. I work at home often in my pjs so don't even have to dress up to go to work. When I usually go out, it's always pubs etc, so casual.

Sweetkitty is it your calves that hurt? I can't remember if mine hurt initially, i think it was more my quads.

I'd really recommend doing a longer stretch at the end - I don't think the warm-down our Jillian does after Shred is extensive enough. If you google pilates 10 minute solutions, have a look, she does a really good 10 min stretch which I always use after Jillian'ing (especially Shredding). (The rest of her DVD is good too if you're interested in pilates).

Day 13 of L2 shred, made myself do L3 afterwards and I'm suffering now!

sweetkitty I struggled with the stairs to start with - it was my knees with me - I found it helped to do alternative cardio moves and have the odd rest day. It got better around the 10 day mark.

Did level 3 of 30ds tonight. Am knackered now. Blush
Have been doing mostly ripped in 30 recently but fancied a change.
Still can't do a full press up. Never mind a travelling one!
I really can't do the jumping lunges in L3.
Will have a day off tomorrow cos I'm at work all day. Grin

Am loving ripped in 30 level 2. Jillian is a bit scary in ripped. Managing most of the moves except the push ups, decided to keep working on the basic push up before attempting to lift my leg. Can see muscle development around my shoulders but still no where near doing a proper push up and may be getting a little obsessed with the challenge of trying to achieve it.

Today....later 'cos I am being lazy right now...I'm starting Body Revolution. DH kindly treated me to it and then did magic so it's also on my ipad :) I'm just taking it easy right now and reading the instructions whilst I have another cuppa.

How hard is ripped in 30 compared to the Shred? < timid >

Did Day 9 Level 1 Shred today - only scored 28 Sad

However, I have had chicken and salad for tea three days in a row (yawn) and my stomach has gone so much flatter, 1've lost 2lb, and I can feel the stomach muscles again so pleased overall.

At the risk of sounding dumb what is this point scoring system in Shredthat some are quoting?

Report
BalloonSlayer · 17/08/2012 09:15

Oh Geek I think it's only me . . . Blush I put it on here for my own record.

To motivate myself to actually finish each exercise rather than give up near the end, I give myself one point for each one completed. Each Shred circuit has 4 strengths, 4 cardios and 2 abs, so that's 30 in all. If I can get to 30 I feel very pleased with myself. I think when I first started doing this I only got 24.

It has really helped me do better as I was constantly wimping out of the last few seconds of exercises, now I push myself much harder. Also, I am not sure why, it stops me getting so bored, I think because it has altered my focus.

I need to think of a treat I can award myself for getting, say, ten 30 scores. But I can't think of one, apart from going out for a massive curry which rather defeats the purpose Grin

I think ripped and shred are pretty comparable....I just like the moves and the music better. Also I think the stretching in the shred is pretty awful in that it does not last long enough, and it kills my back. I prefer to stretch for longer in a standing position.

Ah, now I understand about the points! Good idea geek!

Day 4 of RI30 done, was really, really tempted to phone it in this morning and my DS wittered and whined throughout the whole thing so I didn't really enjoy it but never mind, one more day of level 1 then bring on level 2!

Spring, I find press ups quite hard too, my entire body shakes throughout! I don't like the sound of leg raises on top.

Greedygirl dvd went 1st class this morning so you might even have it tomorrow :)

Off for a dog walk and then I'm going to tackle my first strength session of Revolution.

Brilliant thanks! Good luck with revolution. Maybe that will keep you motivated through the winter months? If not, you may have to book a winter sun/spa break or similar Wink.

Oh don't tempt me with holidays. I've already provisionally booked the same place for next year and could easily be tempted away to somewhere hot in the depths of winter.

Week 1, Workout 1 of JM's Body Revolution done. Well that was great fun. All very old school basic stuff and quite swift progression through the exercises so the 30 mins flew by. It was interesting to see her work a large mixed group and thankfully ( she could be lulling me into a false sense of security) she's not too shouty nor too touchy feely with the demonstrators. Plenty of correct technique/wrong technique explained, which helps me. I've got super shakey thighs now...I think I'm going to enjoy this :)

I have just bought the shred and will be starting it tomorrow. I dont have a lot of weight to lose but I am wobbly. Has anyone been in a similar situation and got good results? My hubby is going to do it with me and has a little weight to lose x

Welcome ... the shred is great for wobbly bits. I started it in Dec , wanting more tone especially in my thighs & with only a couple of pounds to lose and it did the job.I also used 6week 6 pack pre holiday. Grab your weights and go for it; be prepared to do the walk of doom down the stairs for a few days and to groan when you sit down- other that that it's fantastic.

Can you tell I've been Jillianed today ? ;)

Day 5 30 DS here, my BMI is about 22 but I'm wobbly too, could probably lose half a stone off my hips and thighs I'm so pear shaped.

It's my calves and front of thighs that hurt the most. Probably better than day 2 though.

Mamabear - I think that JM is particularly good for toning wobbly bits! More than for weight loss. I have lost an inch off my waist hips, bum and back since starting about 2 - 3 months ago. Go for it! You will walk like a crab to begin with but it is all part of the fun!

Gypsy - I thought body revolution was a turbo/insanity type thing, will have to check it out, sounds good.

Oh I am knackered, I am actually looking forward to starting work again next week, me and my ds have just bickered like siblings today! Not clever. Anniversary break away tomorrow. Taking gym gear but fully intend to enjoy the food and wine!

Body Revolution is tempting, I agree. Although I have just started BFBM. Quite proud that I could finish it. I cannot stress enough how much I despise cardio. 45 minutes of it is my idea of hell, but now I am full of endorphins. Hope DS goes to bed early...

Greedygirl I thought it would be more full on than I saw today but in fairness she did stress that she was just warming us up and building up core muscles to start with. I liked the fact that she was very specific about form ie where exactly to put your hands for press-ups and gave 2 modifiers/improvements for each exercise.
I haven't read through all the diet info that came with it, just the workout schedule and I opted for the "easy" start...there's a crash start that involves a.m. strength and p.m. cardio. I thought that might possible kill me today in the heat!
Hope you have an enjoyable break away.

Sweetkitty see it is getting better Grin

Mamabear - I'm on Day 5, I'm totally exercise phobic I've done nothing for about 8 years seriously. In my defence I've had 4 babies in that time and suffered bad SPD throughout, I was worried about my pubic bones but they're fine it's the rest of me that's aching, I don't have proper weights yet as DP threw them all out apart from the 4.5kg ones!! I think arms will ache once I stop using bean cans. Stairs will kill you the next day and you'll wonder how you'll ever manage to do it all again but you will.

Have just done day 6 of 30ds :)
Had a day off yesterday as my back was a bit sore. I have the beginnings of arthritis in my lower back and hips, and find anything that requires me to jump around very hard- the cardio moves in 30ds kill me!
I am pleased though, I didn't have to stop as much today :)

So impressed with how motivated people are. I agree with what you are saying re the stretches for 30ds though. Definitely not enough.

I had a physio appointment yesterday and thought I would feel much better afterwards but my back hurt more than ever! I have, however, seen an improvement since starting 30ds - must be my core muscles reawakening :). I decided to take a day off yesterday, which will give me a week long rythym of 6 days shred and one day rest. I think I am starting to see a difference. Even though I still can't fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes yet I feel I am getting closer (except anything around the chest. Not a hope in hell there).
