Took the advice and tried level 4 ripped today. I thought if I did level 3 again I might just give up on the whole thing. I was surprised that it didn't seem too bad, and probably easier than level 2...

That said I was having to pause the dvd to get the moves right, I think the real test will be tomorrow when I try to do it without any breaks!

ZenNudist · 28/10/2012 20:00

Just started 30DS can I join this thread to try keep motivated. I did 2 days of level 1 then went swimming next day then did one day level 2. It's been my birthday weekend and have been busy having fun so will start again tomorrow.

Do I need to start my 30 days afresh?

threestepsforward · 29/10/2012 20:55

Hi all!

Hello zen - Happy belated Birthday Smile

If it were me I'd start from day 1 because I'm a bit anal but it's totally up to you! Are you switching through the levels or doing a certain number of days on each level before moving up?

Whatever you decide, keep posting here for some moral support [hsmile]

Well done on kicking L4's ass Xelliex! I think L3 and L4 are quite comparable in terms of difficulty - they both hurt, just different body parts!

I had the weekend off and did L1 Killer again today. Not feeling it so much so am planning either L3 tomorrow or perhaps a level of Ripped, or even L3 Shred, so much choice Grin

Notyummy and CHST keep us posted on Insanity. I look forward to your reports with an element of horror!

Keep going all...

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 29/10/2012 20:58

Meant to say my reason for this flurry of Killer is as a result of noticing that my bum is heading southwards. My constant battle against the gravitational pull of my derriere continues Grin

notyummy · 29/10/2012 21:21

Hello Zen.

Didn't manage Insanity today. Back is quite bad- boo! Did L3 Killer for the first time in ages. Was fine. I never find Killer that tough compared to some of her other stuff. Going for a run tomorrow and doing either 1 or 2 Ripped on Wednesday depending on time.

VenetiaLanyon · 30/10/2012 09:47

Hi all Smile and welcome Zen
Killer is exactly what it says on the tin, isn't it Threesteps? I struggle with the chair stuff; I don't think we have a sturdy enough chair, so I end up cheating with a footstool...

Did 6W6P for the first time over the last days; just level 1 so far, but may step up tomorrow; is L2 a lot worse?

notyummy · 30/10/2012 09:50

Venetia - This may not be what you want to hear, but I think L2 6W6P is considerably harder than L1. Although I don't think it is actually hard on the mid section - but it has a fair few squats and lunges and the cardio is properly tough. Especially the second time round - double time!!

My back is still really bad Sad. I may have a go on the cross trainer as lower impact than running.

threestepsforward · 30/10/2012 10:23

Venetia, I use a stool that creaks ominously each time I clamber on it!

Notyummy sorry to hear your back is playing up Sad Take it easy for a few days and hopefully you'll be back on form soon.

Hope everyone else is doing well [hsmile]

OP posts:
VenetiaLanyon · 30/10/2012 11:16

thanks yummy, suspected that that might be the answer Grin. Sorry to hear about your back; are you seeing a physio? I swear by a foam roller to roll out my back on when it gets bad.

Threesteps, hope that you don't feel as precarious as I do...

xelliex · 30/10/2012 11:50

Just done ripped L4 day 3, and shred L1 day 2. I thought after ripped shred would be easy but no, I think I've lost some upper body strength. I was doing shred with 2.3 kg weights but ended up switching to 1.3 kg, and I can't do proper push ups at all. On the plus side it no longer hurts my knees so it seems like I have somehow strengthened them along the way :)

CHST · 30/10/2012 19:19

Venetia I hate level 2 6w6p...the second time around is so stupid, I was constantly afraid of bashing myself with the weight.

I am in Cornwall this week and really debated giving up Insanity and taking things down a notch. Month 2 is such a step up from month 1 and my body was so fatigued so it is hard to do that level of workout when your body is so tired.
However, I just made myself do it and have decided to continue...today I even did it before breakfast. I did so much better this week than last week with month 2. I feel like my body has adjusted to this level, I feel mentally strong and prepared to finish this. I am so glad I haven't given up, it really is a mental test as well as physical...two more weeks after this week. I can honestly say as hard as it is, I really am enjoying it a lot.
Seriously debating whether to do Insanity Asylum after I have finished this

threestepsforward · 31/10/2012 10:37

Go you CHST!!!
I'm seriously impressed. It could have been so easy to just put Insanity back on the shelf but you stuck it out - I'm not sure I could have done after hearing yours and notyummy's reports on it!

It sounds so many levels above all the other JM stuff covered on this thread. I'm guessing it doesn't get much harder than Insanity (even for athletes, fitness instructors etc.)?

You should feell immensely proud [hsmile]

Well I am a snotty mess today. Have been coming down with it for a few days. Wondering whether I should exercise through it, hmm. I did L3 Killer yesterday but certainly wasn't 100% there. I don't want to derail myself though, and I did have 2 days off at the weekend.

Will see how I feel later. Have a good day all. Smile

Three steps- depends whether symptoms are only above the neck doesn't it? If you are shivery or achy best not.

My back is still really bad. So depressing. Struggling with quite a few everyday tasks. Did a 30 min Pilates DVD to try and help.

VenetiaLanyon · 31/10/2012 12:50

L2 6W6P today - ugh! But I did it Smile. Feels like a really good work out; lots more lunging that I anticipated, and think that it will get harder still when I get the form better.

So sorry to hear about your back still being rubbish, notyummy; I suffer periodically myself, and know how depressing it is. My physio always insists that pain killers should be the first port of call, to try to get my back to stop going into spasm, and then I stick a heat patch on.

threestepsforward · 31/10/2012 15:22

I'm not really shivery or achey notyummy (well aside from the Killer aches!), but this cold is sitting on my chest, so probably best to rest for a few days, gah!

Sorry your back is no better, backs are a bugger aren't they? Hope it sorts itself out soon. Heat pad is a good idea, and rest and Brew :)

VenetiaLanyon · 01/11/2012 15:42

Ripped L3 today - I let my DD decide, and she went for the one with pink outfits Grin

I have clearly been unconsciously swerving it for a while, and found it much tougher than 6W6P...

xelliex · 01/11/2012 18:28

notyummy I'd never heard that about symptoms above/below the neck. I must try to remember it when I get the usual winter cold...

The past two day I've done level 1 shred, followed by ripped L4. I've been trying to do two workouts as work has been getting in the way of doing any Jillian daily.

VenetiaLanyon · 02/11/2012 10:49

no shredding today following Ripped arm injury; think it was from the one where you lie on the floor and push your self up onto your elbow Angry

Hope other injuries and colds are on the mend.

CHST · 02/11/2012 19:23

notyummy I am so sorry your back is giving you trouble :( back pain is an absolute bugger so I hope things feel better soon for you
threesteps hope your chesty cold gets better soon too
xeliex well done with the double Jillianing!
Venetia ouch! What have you done exactly? Those plank ups tend to give me carpet burns Blush and in one of the insanity workouts, you do 4 plank ups, 8 plank ups, then 16 plank ups right arm first, then 16, 8, 4 starting with the left, that's a lot of plank ups and rubbing arms!

notyummy · 04/11/2012 11:58

Hi all. Back from a few days in Scotland that were fun but exhausting. My back is improving very slowly. So frustrating. I did a 30 min Pilates session and had taken my running stuff but my back really was not up to it. Back home now and did 30 mins on the cross trainer and then a modified l2 shred with DH. Did easy version throughout and didn't even use weights for a couple of things. It is not in my nature to do that!! I am trying v hard to be sensible though....

gingercat12 · 04/11/2012 18:02

Hope everyone is feeling better.

Venetia Do you mean the walking planks? For the past 2 months I do not dare to do those, as it kills the left side of my shoulder Confused

Just back from Europe. Managed to do BFBM all but one day. Mom of 3 from Serbia, sorry your children had to watch me exercising at Brussels airport. Hope they did not have nightmares...

Although I do not think I lost tonnes of weight since family last saw me in August, but they think my body shape changed radically Grin I just need to get rid of my big tummy (clearly not as big as it was).

Onwards and upwards!

threestepsforward · 04/11/2012 23:31

Evening all Smile

I rested for 2 days due to cold and decided to start with L3 Shred, and lo and behold, my age-old knee/calf strain twanged during the jumping lunges, so that was that!

I'm away on Tuesday to see a friend, so have decided I will rest at least til I get back on Thursday and hopefully cold / calf grumbles will have sorted themselves out.

Gingercat, did you do BFBM at the airport? I salute you you amazing lady!!! (all my exercise is done in a darkened room with blinds pulled, lights dimmed and no chance of anyone seeing me!)

Hope everyone is doing okay and injuries and lurgies are getting better x

OP posts:
gingercat12 · 05/11/2012 10:59

threesteps I did do BFBM at airport in broad daylight. it is not family- friendly entertainment.

threestepsforward · 05/11/2012 13:11

Grin You get my gold medal for dedication gingercat! Hope you had a good trip with family Smile

Am v annoyed about my calf strain - I've had it a few times, same leg, same place. I know there's not much I can do apart from rest so will have to be patient and hope it's better in a few days.

Have a good day all!

OP posts:
CHST · 05/11/2012 20:18

wow ginger that is awesome! Props!! Where in the airport did you do it?!
