Hi CHST. My favourite is cardio and power (at last I think that is what is called.) I am struggling a bit with Insanity because of a calf strain bit I have completed month one although not quite in the way they want you do it as I was doing at least one run and one NMTZ a week as well.

I now have Extreme Shed and Shred. It arrived today!

3monkeys · 18/09/2012 21:18

Have got 6w6p and don't like it!! So I went back to to Shred level2 today. Haven't noticed much change in size but am definitely fitter than when I started. What else is more like Shred?

ILoveLemonCurd · 18/09/2012 21:48

3monkeys - Ripped is like shred but has four levels instead of three. It's tough, I find it harder than Shred but it makes a 'nice' change. I've only got up to level two. Jillian is quite annoying though and the music is terrible!

Catgirl - I just move up a level when I get bored and lose motivation. That's probably the wrong answer, but it works for me!

Extreme shred sounds hardcore.....

CHST · 18/09/2012 22:07

notyummy I think you'll love extreme shed...one of my favorites.

There is a new Jillian DVD out..only region 1 for now but WANT! called killer abs and there is a clip on you tube

xelliex · 19/09/2012 10:34

Have got ripped and will probably start it on friday - it's a birthday present so I probably shouldn't unwrap it before then!

I'm getting a bit bored with shred. I'm fitter but I've not really noticed any change in weight or size, I'm hoping ripped will make more of a difference.

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 19/09/2012 10:39

Hi all
I have gone back to 6W6P as some evenings I just can't face the whole hour of NMTZ although I do like it, it is soooo loooong.

However I am getting a bit bored and as before I often have difficulty balancing during the faster half of 6W6P. I am thinking of getting BFBM but am worried that my pelvic floor won't cope, I've read some reviews of Extreme Shed and they're not great so I'm now pondering whether to get it or not. Extreme Shed makes me think of a Grand Design project Grin
Can't even remember Ripped now, it's so long since I've done it, I just remember I didn't like level3. I might have to go back to it to spice things up a bit! i can't do Shred again since i gave my DVD to DD when she went back to Norfolk.

So my next purchase is either
BFBM
Extreme Shed
Killer

Which does everyone prefer?

Like the sound of Killer Abs. Hope it comes out here soon.

CHST · 19/09/2012 12:23

youvecat love your name by the way, always makes me smile :)
I'd go for either killer or extreme shred. Killer there is a lot of lunge/leg work, not so much cardio. Extreme shed only has two levels though

MegBusset · 19/09/2012 14:01

Level 1 day 6 done. One more day and I think I'll move up to L2. Youvecat the Shred is on Youtube.

notyummy · 19/09/2012 16:21

Just finished Extreme Shred L2 - I just had to jump in and do it seeing as everyone was going on about L2!

In general I enjoyed. Not as hard as I had feared, but I think that is because I have done Insanity and some quite hard core yoga and pilates. Cardio wise, not tough at all. So stuff like the push up jacks I had already done (but faster) in Insanity - the same with stuff like high knees into burpee. Things like crab/belt I have done in yoga. I found the triangle with weight hard (was using 3 kg for that one and would probably drop it down next time.) Also the shoulder stand into plank one. Next time I will probably add weights to fair few of the ones where she doesn't to begin with. I think I will probably ache in places tomorrow, which I guess is the real test Grin. Might try L1 tomorrow just to see what it is like. If you did the 2 together I have absolutely no doubt it would be tough, but I wouldn't have the time. I think you would be better off doing a 40 minute Insanity than a 70 minute double Extreme Shred. Probably about the same amount of pain!!

notyummy · 19/09/2012 16:23

Youcat - BFBM is entirely cardio - no strength. Killer is a mixture but not that much at all for upper body. Shred a bit of a mixture - depends on how cardio fit you are as to whether it would be a cardio workout. Plenty of strength and you will def sweat!

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 19/09/2012 19:30

Thanks CHST and notyummy

Don't think I'll get Killer then. My legs have got quite thin from Jillianing already. Its my upper body I'd like to concentrate on. I don't want to look like a tellytubby with stickman legs Grin

Might get BFBM and do that till the price of Extreme Shed goes down!

Has anyone tried the Blast off Belly Fat DVD? Is it Jillian or someone else? it has very good reviews on Amazon

GeekLove · 19/09/2012 20:26

Grrr I hate you people! Yet more things on my Amazon shopping list for pay day!
Like the sound of extreme shred although ordinary shred feels like that at about 11 mins in.

Can I have a little boast. I managed to complete lvl 2 Shred on 5kg yet I'm on AF. Anybody else feel weaker when on their period?

notyummy · 19/09/2012 20:40

Geek- can you do squat and v raises with 5kg? I can do the rest of L2 with 5kg, but those v raises are my nemisis!

GeekLove · 19/09/2012 21:53

I can do v raises but the last ones really are a struggle and have
E gasping. She's not kidding when you go back to the military presses!

ihatethecold · 19/09/2012 21:53

After 2 months of doing 30ds and ripped in 30. I tried NMTZ
Never again. My butt is killing me. And it's do long.
I'm going back to my old faithful. Wink

Happypiglet · 19/09/2012 22:05

Did L2 Ripped again. Still find CV in plank tough....in fact I did plank jacks and then butt kicks instead of mountain climbers... Blush my arms are just not really getting stronger. I weep at the thought of 5kg for anything. I manage 3kg for dead lifts but 2 kg for everything else.... Not sure even after nearly a year of JMing that I could do anything with 5kgs!
geek love I really struggle at the time of the month too so hats off to you.
Off to a wedding on Friday and having two nights in a hotel without DC so will not be exercising again until the in laws go on Monday.
Will do a few more days of L2 as if I remember correctly L3 has the dreaded jumping lunges which loath!

ihatethecold · 20/09/2012 08:06

I actually dreamt of JM DVDs last night. How sad am I Grin
I couldn't find my ripped in30 so I was gonna have to do the really long NMTZ. ArghhConfused

GeekLove · 20/09/2012 20:41

IHTC
If you haven't time for all of NMTZ you could do say 4 of the circuits. I intend to do some weeks where i do 2x2 circuits (eg shoulders and abs) and change the circuit each day.
Ps weight train g does have a cardio component if it is making you out of breath. Upping the weight on Shred and similar really does make you work harder significantly.
What I do find useful is to exercise in front of a full length mirror. This is do you can keep an eye on your form. If your form is getting wobbly then you need to drop to a lighter weight. I think Its good to squeeze some reps with a heavier weight since it will improve your strength in the long run.

sommewhereelse · 21/09/2012 06:02

HappyPiglet, when I do L2 Ripped, I switch the High Knees from the last circuit with the Mountain Climbers from the first circuit.
Doing the same exercises just a different order feels like less of a cop out than taking lots 5 sec breaks which is what happens in circuit 1 if I attempt the proper order.

hawthers · 21/09/2012 10:40

Morning all, can I join? On day 2 of level 2 of the shred. Why oh why does that woman like the plank so much?!

Had my DS2 9 months ago and gained a good whack of weight with him. Through determined portion control I've managed to get back to within a lb of pre preg weight (now 5'2" and 9st) but would really like to shift that little extra half stone to make me feel good about myself again. Was hoping shredding would help me do this but reading comments on here it seems doubtful. Arse.

Still going to keep on with jm and see what happens at the end of 30DS. Took my measurements at the beginning so will post them at the end.

please tell me that even if my weight doesn't go down I'll look better at the end of it....

ihatethecold · 21/09/2012 13:47

Hawthers. Your weight sounds fine!
If you do the 30 DS you will look slimmer but not always lose weight. Dont let that put you off.
You will also ache like crazy at first and lose the ability to walk down stairs properly Grin

Take your measurements now and every week. It does work Wink

hawthers · 21/09/2012 17:33

I've gone through the pain barrier :o so now just need to keep at it so I don't start hurting again...

Weigh in day tomorrow and if I manage to get rid of that final pound then I'll be able to purchase some rather tasty ankle boots. Fingers crossed

Happypiglet · 21/09/2012 18:28

Oooo somewhere else that is a really good idea. May try that. Having today off as at a wedding. Currently relaxing in hotel room between day and evening do having hot chocolate.... Maybe not the best idea!
Back to it on Monday and will try that idea

GeekLove · 21/09/2012 23:33

hawthers I soooooo want to be 9st as I'm 5'2" as well. But even pre-kids my optimum was 9st 7. I have the feeling that is the most likely goal as my waist is bigger post children due to ribcage flare. I have got big bones as well - my hands are as big as my dads so that adds up. The less you have to lose the longer it takes as I'm down to 10lb now!

chilledmomma · 22/09/2012 10:40

I've been reading and shredding, so thought I'd finally join in. Day 29 and struggling to finish the shred as it's getting a bit boring- does anyone else find that? I've got BFBM and Ripped in 30 ready and waiting but refuse to give in until I've done the full 30 days of the shred- have lost no weight, but over an inch off my waist and half inch off each thigh so may just stop weighing myself!
