Hello I'm back! Hmm I seem to have been a bit slow getting back to Jillian after holiday. But I have just completed Level one of Ripped. It's a new one for me and it wasn't too bad. I might try level two tomorrow for more of a challenge. (I had got to level 3 of Shred before holiday so I know how tough it can get..!)

Hope you're all having fun. I am determined now to lose a stone or thereabout so will be combining this with the 5:2 diet (see other thread) so I hope to see some results soon!

I've just got Killer too, variety is the spice of life and all that! Grin

notyummy · 12/09/2012 17:26

Did someone call...? Wink

My calf is still a bit sore so I am trying to be sensible so did 40 minutes on the crosstrainer today and that was it. Will obvious have to try the double Shred/Extreme challenge. I shall blame you all when carried into the ambulance.

I have just spent an absolute fortune at the running shop after deciding that I needed new trainers - apparently old ones are one of the causes of calf strain. I may have got a hold load of new running clothes as well!! Nice man was very knowledgable and showed me a load of different stretches. It was a proper running shop, and they did some gait analysis etc. None of sulky your teenage shop assistants at JJB sports!

catgirl · 12/09/2012 19:43

sweetkitty - aha ok, sorry I was obviously being dim!!

Day 3 done - it was harder to get out of bed at 6am, but I did it! I actually quite like the feeling of being the only one awake! am slight scared at reading about exercises in the future 'extreme planking' or something.... so my mind kinds of skips over them in a 'lalalala not reading' kind of way. How do you know that you are ready to move onto level 2?? Because at the moment I can't ever see the time that Level 1 would feel easy! anyway, that's it - here's hoping 6am is slightly easier tomorrow morning!

chocolateshoes · 12/09/2012 19:46

Extreme Shred????!!! Didn't know it existed! Oh goodness....off to look on Amazon

chocolateshoes · 12/09/2012 19:51

why is it called extreme shred & shred - does it have the original shred on it again or is it something different?

sweetkitty · 12/09/2012 21:15

Thanks for the motivation. Rest day today well did do about 3 hours cleaning, including pulling out furniture etc so exhausted after.

Extreme Shred sounds very scary.

My plan is to go back and do a few days of Level 1 but Natalie this time and heavier weights before doing levels 2 and 3 again.

CHST · 12/09/2012 22:42

I actually like extreme shed and shred. It is two workouts that you can either do separately or together. It has some moves I am familiar with and some new moves. Completely different from the original shed.
Tip of the week workout with someone. I just did killer level 1 with my sis and did advanced all the way through. On my own I phone it in a bit. I definitely pushed myself to the limit. She was watching me the other day and I really pushed myself so as not to disappoint her. She commented on my jumping lunges and how good they were so that made me :)

chocolateshoes · 13/09/2012 09:14

thanks CHST......will order, no excuses!

I know what you mean about improving when working out infront of someone. When DH is around I make much more effort to do the moves properly and to do all of them. Often I miss the last 1 of an exercise off...

dotty2 · 13/09/2012 10:06

The only people I ever do the Shred in front of are my kids. They sometimes join in but more often loll on the sofa and point out my lack of 'good form'!

VenetiaLanyon · 13/09/2012 11:11

Reporting back on aftermath of Extreme Shred; I have never had such muscle pain in my upper arms (the underside, bingo- wing bit), and am aching all over. I shred usually 5 days a week, so am not unfit, but something different is being worked hard here...

Nolda, are you suffering in the same way?

BTW, Level 2 takes about 40 mins excluding warm-up and cool-down, not the 30 that Jillian mentions!

worldgonecrazy · 13/09/2012 11:54

Hello everyone. I am back from my Shred holiday. I took off all of August and meant to start on 1st September but for various reasons didn't get Jillian out again until this Tuesday. I've done BFBM two mornings and did Level 3 Shred today. I thought I was going to throw up on the first morning of doing BFBM and had to phone in a few exercises. Managed to do the Level 3 Shred today, though I have definitely gone a bit flabby in my few weeks off and I'm not as strong as I used to be.

I am feeling motivated though and off to google Extreme Shred.

Happypiglet · 13/09/2012 13:12

Hi all... Have managed Ripped L1 three times so far this week and it is starting to get easier after my 6 weeks plus off.... So I may have to move on to L2 which I hate....
When I was doing really well with JM before the hols I was considering getting Extreme Shred .... Maybe I should order it anyway to push myself.
Think I will do L1 once more and then start next week to push myself further on. At least the being unable to walk thing only lasted two days I am back to being fine now!

ILoveLemonCurd · 13/09/2012 13:16

OMG!!this morning I fancied a change and did Killer level one for the first time and crikey it is a killer! Has anyone actually managed to get past level one?? I have a feeling I might be in pain tomorrow!

Ouchy ouch!

I think I might give extreme shred a miss for now Hmm

notyummy · 13/09/2012 14:57

Am scared by the description of L2 Extreme Shred! I still have some calf pain which is most annoying. I am going to try the Insanity stretch and tone session today which is quite long and hard but without jumping and running so hopefully achieveable with a slightly dodgy calf.

Nolda · 13/09/2012 15:48

Venetia, yes, I'm definitely feeling it in the old bingo wings. Also the backs of my thighs. Interesting what you say about the time. It did feel very long. At one point she says that we're nearly finished and I felt very encouraged to keep going but it turned out there were still 2 more sets to go!!!

CHST · 13/09/2012 19:26

Lemoncurd I did killer 1 with my sister yesterday. She said how hard it was for a level one and her eyes popped out of her head when I said we were still in the warm up Grin. I love killer actually. Level 3 is my favourite. I love the rock star jumps into cannon balls. I love the dialogue between her and Natalie throughout, makes me giggle.
Did Ripped level 2 today with my sister. I have come a long way since I did it the first time around. Before I couldn't do the ab hold at all and now find it pretty easy. Can do both sets of crow unmodified where I couldn't do one before etc etc. Happy with that. Not sure what I will do tomorrow but have a wedding at the weekend so will enjoy that

sommewhereelse · 13/09/2012 20:24

LemonCurd stick with it. I've done both Level 1 and Level 2 Killer. I find Level 1 okay now but Level 2 I find really hard so I haven't progressed to Level 3 yet.

CHST is it actually harder or just different?

catgirl · 13/09/2012 20:45

sweetkitty - you were right with four days of aching legs! Am on day 4 and they don't feel nearly so bad Smile.

am feeling slightly wimpy reading about all your extreme things and whatnots, but am quite chuffed to have made it this far to be honest - am taking comfort in the fact that we all start at the beginning and clearly it does get better/easier!!

CHST · 13/09/2012 21:10

hmm somewhereelse I think the thing with Jillian is that you can make it as hard as you want it. Of course it gets harder if you do advanced everything including weight to movements. The hard things in level 3 are frog jumps, jumping lunges (these can be made easier if you do jump switch but if you increase range of motion, it becomes more difficult. I like to get as low on the back leg as possible.) Rock star into cannon ball because there is like a little jump between the two also so you are in constant motion. Squat jacks and the boat pose at the end. Boat is another that can vary in difficulty depending on range of motion. If you push as high as you can in the move, of course it is a lot different than if you just grab your leg. You get out of the workouts what you put into them IMO

ILoveLemonCurd · 14/09/2012 09:29

Ha ha, thanks CHST. I was shocked to still be on the warm up too! In fact I was confused the whole way through as to what circuit I was on. A good laugh though, in a weird way. Might try ripped again today or NMTZ as there's less jumping about.

I AM IN PAIN!

PS has Natalie had a boob job?

sweetkitty · 14/09/2012 12:05

Bit down in the dumps today, did Level 1 of Shred again yesterday, doing all Natalie and using heavier wights and weights with the star jumps etc and I ache today!

Also was weigh in day, apart from the huge meal out lat Saturday I have even very good under my allowance all week and haven't lost a thing again. Am fed up had a cake today :(

MegBusset · 14/09/2012 17:04

SK :( Tough when that happens. What's your cal allowance and what kind of thing are you eating? Could easily be time of the month or water retention, I can put on 2lb overnight without doing anything!

sweetkitty · 14/09/2012 17:30

Cal allowance is 1200, I've been adding 152 for shredding.

I have things like weetabix for breakfast, low cal cereal bar as a snack, omelette for lunch then a decent dinner. It's the curse if that last half stone.

Greedygirl · 14/09/2012 19:02

Hi everyone, just checking in, been completely rubbish this week, only managed 1 run. Been racing around like a mad thing all week so hopefully burned some calories. Planning another couple of runs at the weekend, not feeling the love for JM at the moment but I'm sure I'll get back on track next week.

I haven't had time for a proper catch up but just wanted to say to those of you despondent about lack of weight loss - I have been JMing since the end of May. I have given up on the scales cos they just depress me and knock me back. I did my measurements again this morning though and I have lost 2 ins off my waist and bum, an inch off my hips and back and half an inch off my biceps and thighs. When I held the tape around my waist at my starter measurement and I could see how much difference there was it really gave me a real boost. How are your measurements? My bicep and thigh measurements didn't change for ages btw.

xelliex · 14/09/2012 21:18

I'm another one who has been a bit rubbish lately. I don't feel very focused, I've shredded 3 days, had a day off, and done NMTZ tonight. I'm supposed to be getting Ripped for my birthday next week so I'm hoping that will get me motivated again.

I've not had any significant weight/inch loss yet - started July - and for all that I feel fitter I still want to lose that elusive half stone...
