Hi all,

Reporting back on level 1 of "Shed and extreme Shred", which I started today. 30 mins long, and some good new exercises (burpees plus side jumps, side crunches on your hand) , plus some old favourites with weights (running man, butt kicks with weights high above your head etc).

I didn't feel done in after L1 though, either by the cardio or the weights, and she encourages you to do the whole thing (L1 and L2) together. Will try L2 tomorrow, and see how it goes...

notyummy · 11/09/2012 10:24

OOh -thanks for the Extreme Shred and Shed report! I have it I(and 60 sec promise) on my amazon wishlist at the moment.

I have an injury - calf strain - which is REALLY annoying me. I think I did it at the ned of my long run on Friday but still managed Ripped and NMTZ at the weekend ok. Went to do a shorter run yesterday and had to pull up nearly straight away. I am resting it today and have retrieved the cross trainer from the garage show will have a go on that tomorrow as it is relatively low impact in comparision to JM/Insanity/running. Fingers crossed....

notyummy · 11/09/2012 10:27

And another one who would like slimmer thighs.....

I am a pear shape naturally so my thighs are one of the hardest bits to tame. They are def firmer than they used to be, but still not that small in all honesty. I am more in proportion compared to what I used to be, thasnks to Jillian though. Nearly an hourglass, rather than a pear....if I wear a padded bra Grin

dotty2 · 11/09/2012 12:34

I haven't done any exercise DVDs since I started running and did C25k in January. Used to use the 30 day Shread regularly, mixed with a bit of Davina. I have decided to start shredding again as although I also swim I've noticed my arms aren't as toned as they were when I was shredding (am 5'9 and 12.5 stone, so clearly losing weight would help with that, but it has defeated me for 20 years since my first diet. Sigh. So am determined to get fit rather than slim for my 40th next year.)

Did my first Level 1 this morning and found the cardio easy because of the running but the other bits a little more challenging. Last time I did the Shred I got really bored with Level 2 (but Level 3 always seemed too hard). What's good to mix it with - at a similar level to Shred Level 2?

sweetkitty · 11/09/2012 12:51

Day 29 here so measured myself as I don't think I'll be able to Shred tomorrow.

Weight loss 2lbs
Hips - 2cms
Waist - 1cm
Thighs -1cm

A bit disappointed with the loss TBH I can see a difference in my waist and thighs, I have huge thighs as well compared to the rest of me.

Until I can afford Ripped I'm going to go back and start again at Level 1 but this time use heavier weights and be Natalie more.

MegBusset · 11/09/2012 13:23

Just done Shred L1 D3. Did day one of couch25k yesterday so had aches in new places!

dotty2 · 11/09/2012 14:02

Hello Meg - just seen you on the C25k thread. I have to say that when I started running I couldn't face doing both so admire your dedication. Think it's good though - you are less likely to get injuries if you mix running with exercises that strengthen other muscles too.

ReneandGeorgetteMagritte · 11/09/2012 15:01

Hello, I am on day 2 of 30 day shred and just searched on here to see if it's normal to be in this much pain!

Oh my, it hurts coming down the stairs!

I don't come on here very often, but I hope it's ok if I join you now and then for a bit of inspiration? You all seem to be doing so much!

sweetkitty · 11/09/2012 15:28

Yes quite normal I couldn't walk for about 4 days :)

Nolda · 11/09/2012 17:10

Venetia, I didn't feel completely done in after level 1 of Extreme Shed (and was feeling a bit disappointed actually). However, My legs are aching today so must have done some good. Haven't done Level 2 yet. It feels a bit more like BFBM than shred in its format and suspect that it will be great if you have enough time to do both levels.

catgirl · 11/09/2012 20:34

I am on day 2 too - stairs tricky (and how many times at work did I have to go up and down....) and getting onto the loo...... thought my arms weren't affected until I started the exercises this morning and realised that they ached too! All good though (I think/hope), soup cans good - thanks Smile, can't believe I have done 2 days!!

catgirl · 11/09/2012 20:35

sweetkitty: silly question why can't you shred if you have done 29 days?? am I missing something?

Nolda · 11/09/2012 20:36

I'm back again, having just completed Level 2 of Extreme Shed. OMG, I can hear Jillian laughing her head off all the way from America. Eat my words Jillian? What ever you say. [Crawls off into a corner to die quietly]

sweetkitty · 11/09/2012 21:40

Catgirl - I have a very busy day tomorrow visitors etc so might not get time. Well done on 2 days. I can't believe I've done 29 days.

gingercat12 · 11/09/2012 22:13

Venetia and Nolda Extreme Shred sounds like something I need to get.

I would like to clarify that my thighs (sadly) are not slim, just slimmer. Still huge though.

Hope you are feeling better notyummy.

Meg and dotty What is C25K?

MegBusset · 11/09/2012 22:41

It's the couch-to-5k running programme - you start by doing intervals of running and walking, and gradually build up over 8 weeks (running 3 times a week) until (in theory) you can run 5k without stopping.

I am mixing it in with Shred because I would get bored doing the same exercise every day, and it's nice to get outside to exercise.

VenetiaLanyon · 12/09/2012 09:05

Nolda, please make room for me in your corner. Level 2 ESAS is a bit of a nightmare.....

Some really cruel moves; one-legged mountain climbers, press-up squat jacks, 6 x high knees and collapse onto the floor, the reverse plank push-ups, the ab hold in plank push-ups, the rolling over and twisting one-legged press-ups....I could go on but don't have the muscle strength.

Won't be doing L1 and L2 back-to-back for a while, I can tell you...

Nolda · 12/09/2012 11:21

Nor me, Venetia. I couldn't even do the last move (leaning over thing) as I felt physically sick. Do you have a big room to work out in? Mine is tiny and this workout uses more space than her others. I also clonked the weight on the ceiling doing the statue of liberty thing!

Nolda · 12/09/2012 11:29

I think there should be a special thread award of Biscuit Thanks and may be Wine for the first to complete Level 1 and Level 2 of ESAS. I suspect it will be Notyummy (hope your calf gets better quickly).

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 12/09/2012 12:26

Extreme shred? Is that new? Should I get it?

I have been back from my hols for 10 days. I didn't do any exercises whilst I was away. We were in the caravan and the awning floor was too soggy to exercise on that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Anyway I got straight back into NMTZ when I got home but now DD has been home for 2 weeks and joined me on the workout so we have gone back to 6W6P as she finds NMTZ impossible too long.

Have just skimmed the thread but sounds like everyone is doing well!
I have lost a stone since March from just Jillianing, don't think I will lose anymore as I have been around the same weight for about a month now but as it was my target weight I am very pleased. Keep going sweetkitty I didn't notice much weight loss for ages but it eventually crept off pound by pound.

VenetiaLanyon · 12/09/2012 12:41

It is brand new, and you should def get it, Kitten; could you bear there to be a Jillian DVD out there that you didn't have? I know I couldn't, which is why all the tantalising US-only DVDs are thoroughly annoying Grin

VenetiaLanyon · 12/09/2012 12:42

PS, also agree with Nolda that Notyummy will prob be the first back-to-backer of Level 1 and 2 of ESAS!

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 12/09/2012 12:56

There are another couple I don't have. Killer (don't really need thigh and bum targeted) and BFBM (my pelvic floor is too weak for all that cardio Blush )

I do quite like the idea of a new challenge though!

MegBusset · 12/09/2012 13:37

Shred L1 D4 done. Will be C25king tomorrow and having a well-earned break on Friday. I am 2lb off my target weight and it is TOUGH to get rid of those last two but I am feeling good about exercising anyway :)

ReneandGeorgetteMagritte · 12/09/2012 14:33

Day 3 of shred done, needed paracetamol today as I knew I would be squatting down lots at work (I was with small children) and didn't think I would be able to get back up again!

I didn't realise she had so many dvds! I am not looking to lose weight paticularly, but really need to tone up especially all over thighs, and maybe be a bit fitter too, hope I have chosen the right one?
