I can tell you how bad I felt, Catgirl.

I was exhausted after the warm up. Could hardly do Circuit 1 at all ( and I have done the whole Shred through and I STILL think that Level 1 circuit 1 is the hardest).

When I came to do the "Butt Kicks" in circuit 2 I was so knackered that I was totally unable to run on the spot and nearly careered into the bookcase. Grin

For a couple of days I was in PAIN. Nearly woke the household up by screaming in in the middle of the night, because I needed a wee and it hurt sooooooo much to bend my knees to sit on the loo . . . but it got better!

It got easier and I got stronger. I saw and felt the difference in my body. No other form of exercise I have ever taken in my LIFE has done that.

Shred is definitely worth doing, IMO.

sweetkitty · 03/09/2012 21:46

I have not exercised in over 9 years, I'm am so unfit, after day 1 & 2 walking was painful well stairs and getting up was but you get through it.

I won't say I enjoy doing it but it's ok-ish I do swear a lot at at Jillian though.

catgirl · 03/09/2012 22:07

oh my, thanks for your honestly (I think Grin ) so I shall let you know when it arrives and maybe I should aim for Friday morning to do first one, so I can hobble at the weekend, rather than at work......

Greedygirl · 03/09/2012 22:23

You'll be fine Catgirl! The stiff legged walk and problems lowering yourself into a chair/toilet seat are a rite of passage on this thread! After the first week you won't experience that level of ache again, but yes , you may want to tell Jillian where to stick her plank on level 2!

I have just done Week 3 of Ripped for the first time - it is fabulously horrid! Bear crawls! My knees are going to be jiggered at the end of this week. I have had a really busy day at work but I think JM has helped with my energy levels, it's true it does transform every facet of your life Hmm!!

ihatethecold · 04/09/2012 07:18

Greedygirl I'm on level 3 of ripped

I don't mind the bear crawl. But I can't do the one where you roll back on the mat then forwards and jump up. Sad
Also the jumping squats in the cardio section are a killer. Wink

Walkingchloe · 04/09/2012 08:22

Hello, newbie here, I am going to shred for the first time ever today!

Could any of you experienced bods answer me a couple of questions? How long do I do each level for? Does 30ds mean I'm supposed to do each level for 10 days? Do I take a day off each week? And what weights does everyone use? I don't have any so intend to buy some today.

TIA!

trumpton · 04/09/2012 08:32

I try to do every day
My weights were from a set on Amazon and are 1kg,1.5k and 2.5 in a natty carry case (! ) but the case does keep them together and stop small people wandering off with a weight. HERE
I do anything between a week to 10 days on each level. But take it easy .

ihatethecold · 04/09/2012 12:30

Walkingchloe. You will be achingcantsitdownonthetoilet Chloe GrinGrinGrinGrin by tomorrow.
Make sure you stretch for 3 times as long a jillian. Wink

Walkingchloe · 04/09/2012 14:41

Trumpton thanks for that, have ordered those weights so will use tins of beans or something until they arrive! Will definitely take it easy, been a while since I've done hardcore exercise as had DS so may have to ease myself in to it a bit.

Ihate oh god I remember that awful sensation when you have to drop on to the loo as its too painful to lower yourself down from when I used to do boot camp classes, not looking forward to that!

sweetkitty · 04/09/2012 15:42

I started with tins of beans too!

Day 2 of Level 3 probably about half Natalie, half Anita. What I did notice today was there's a gap at the top of my thighs Shock. The tale of the tape will tell in 8 days no doubt.

Had a McDs breakfast this morning though Fitness Pal is fuming at me, pasta for dinner

BalloonSlayer · 04/09/2012 16:21

Ooh I did day 2 of level 3 today as well sweetkitty.

I can do some Natalies and some I have to be Anita. I have also got some tins of beans out as I remember from last time jumping jacks with my 1.5 kilo weights is too much for my sparrows-kneecaps muscles.

My lower stomach is really aching, hurts if I cough. I wondered what particular exercise had hurt it yesterday, thought I would find out when I shredded today - turns out it's bloody all of them! Grin

Walkingchloe · 04/09/2012 16:21

Ooh one more question, I'm using my fitness pal and I know it depends on body weight etc but how many calories burned does everyone put down when shredding?

trumpton · 04/09/2012 16:29

I think about 200 calories but might be nearer 150 as some movements are fairly static. Please let me know if you think any different .

sweetkitty · 04/09/2012 16:48

I googled this as well and it said about 150 cals but obviously depends on how erm large you are, fitness pal says 20 mins of circuit training is 152cals do I just use 152 cals for each Shred, if it's more that's a bonus right?

Walkingchloe · 04/09/2012 16:57

Didn't think of logging it under circuit training, think I will put 150 and see any more as a bonus too.

GeekLove · 04/09/2012 19:23

I remember my first Shread back in May 2011. Lvl 1 with 1.5kg and the next day I felt like I'd gone down stairs in a barrel.
Now I can do lvl 2 with 5kg and a mix of NMTZ, BFBM and 6w6p. Keep up and I swear you won't ache as much next time and by next week you will feel the difference.

catgirl · 04/09/2012 21:06

ok what on earth is 'NMTZ, BFBM and 6w6p' - I am at a loss!! DVD still not here, hoping for tomorrow so I can look at the box for a day before getting my nerve up - but I really must do something my clothes are getting too uncomfortable and I have neither the money nor desire to buy new.....will that get me up and exercising in the morning???

Walkingchloe · 04/09/2012 21:47

Level 1 of Shred done! Can feel it in my legs already. Had to pause between circuits 2 & 3 for a couple of minutes to see to DS and I was very glad of the breather! Hoping in a way I'm sore tomorrow so I feel like I worked hard but also dreading the soreness at the same time!

RandomUsername · 04/09/2012 21:53

Hello folks, may i join?

Ive done the 30 Day Shred twice (never ever got past level 2 though) and have lost 3 stone in the last 5 months

I have 1 more stone to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but have lost all motivation, im eating more than ever and am not exercising at all. I need a kick up the backside!

So im thinking of doing the Shred again, starting tomorrow.

Right, well im going right back to page 1 to read this thread from the very beginning!

notyummy · 05/09/2012 08:42

6W6P - Six Week Six Pack: 2 levels. 30 mins each. Mixture of cardio and weights, but only only one lighter weight. Mainly works core and lower body. L2 is TOUGH.

NMTZ - No More Trouble Zones - Weights only. 7 circuits of 6 minutes each. Excellent all body work out. No cardio but you def sweat if your weights are big eneough!

BFBM - Burn Fat Boost Metabolism - cardio only. 7 circuits of 6 minutes each.

Ripped - Ripped in 30 - 4 levels of a mixture of cardio/strength/abs. Each level just over 20 minutes. L1 is pretty easy tbh. All the rest are not!

Killer - Killer Buns and Thighs - 3 levels at about 30 minutes each. Mixture of cardio and lower body with some weights added (not often.) Cardio not that hard, but some tough stuff on the lower body.

I did 5 circuits of BFBM yesterday on the final day of holiday, which means I did something every day! Back home last night and intend to do an Insanity session today and have a day off tomorrow. Weather forecast is great so planning a long run on Friday now DD is back at school - I get to have some exercise time back on my day off!

Re calories - my 9.5 stone friend uses a heart rate monitor and it measured L2 Shred at 187 calories.

3monkeys · 05/09/2012 09:13

Getting so disheartened. Have not done anything past 2 days, too busy. Feel like I haven't lost anything. Think I'm going to have to diet aswell, was hoping to get fit without!! Wish 6w6p would hurry up and arrive, bored of shredding now

Nolda · 05/09/2012 12:20

Very excited as I have received an email from Amazon saying that my Extreme Shed and Shred is on its way!! Hopefully it will get me back on track as have been in a bit of limbo exercise wise since completing Ripped.

Hope your 6w6p arrives soon, 3monkeys.

gingercat12 · 05/09/2012 12:56

I phoned it in yesterday (the first ever day of school for DS and work was too much for me). So today I got up at 6 snd exercised before work. Feel much better, although I hate Ripped L2.

Nolda You'll have to let us know what Extreme Shred is like.

VenetiaLanyon · 05/09/2012 14:17

Hello all, haven't been around for a while, and am picking up Jillian again after a 1 week holiday break. Extreme Shred arrived in the post today - thoroughly over-excited Grin

Nolda · 05/09/2012 14:37
