Well, week 15 of Bootcamp has just ended. But the support and banter will continue! I, for one, am carrying on for the next couple of weeks until my holiday, in the hope that I can drop another pound or so before I go.

There have been some brilliant losses in the last two weeks, so I'm hoping that you'll all be sticking with it too!

Carb creep has snuck up on me post holiday. I vowed to return to this woe on our return and was doing well but finding it tough for the first few days then we had a day out which not only ended in cake but a full Chinese banquet. Since then I've attempted to stick to low carb but I think every day I've eaten something forbidden. Then yesterday I ate a huge bowl of home made potato salad left over from a BBQ that we'd made for the PIL went to Sainsburys and ate a huge choc cookie on the way home.

I'm struggling. I really really don't want to loose the weight I've lost so far and I still have more to go before I feel done. Somehow I've got to get into the zone again. Any ideas?

emmak86 · 14/08/2012 12:21

Just keep telling urself u can do it.. Uve done it before so u can do it again!

Just think of where u want to be and itll all be worth it... Drink plenty and stick it out! Grin

NigellasGuest · 14/08/2012 12:23

thanks emma-
what's the best sort of exercise though?
I must admit I've stopped shredding

Dr Briffa says just walking is fine - and I'm definitely doing that!

tiptoemum · 14/08/2012 12:36

Eek, just worked out my bmi, I have a very long way to go! It is 30 at the moment so a drop of at least 5 to not be overweight. Well this woe is definitely working it would be great to reach that by Christmas.

emmak86 · 14/08/2012 12:37

To be honest i never get the time to exercise with the boys!
My exercise is also plenty of walking... And running around in the park!!

Im sure walking is good enough or a very brisk walk Smile x

BIWI · 14/08/2012 12:40

Morning!

Nigella - have you been keeping a food diary? If you have, go back to when you very first started LCing, and see what you were eating and drinking then. Often you will find that things have subtly changed over the weeks, and that carbs have crept in somewhere somehow.

List out for me what you have eaten and drunk over the last few days, and let's see if we can help

NigellasGuest · 14/08/2012 12:40

oh thanks Emma Smile - it's probably easier for your body to lose the weight though because you're much younger than me, I'm 48!!

NigellasGuest · 14/08/2012 12:46

Hi BiWI - how good of you to offer to do that from sunny Barbados!
No, i didn;t keep a diary when I started, but over the last few days:

Breakfast:
Hard boiled egg with ff Helmans
coffee & double cream
Lunch:
veg fried in butter with double cream and a v. small amount of feta
or Total with some coconut oil

Dinner:
Usually meat, sometimes fish. With veg.
Always fried or baked with lots of lovely butter!

TBH i think I'm keeping to the rules pretty well. (Also drinking loads of water). My gut feeling tells me it's hormone related. TOM due in just over a week (if it comes). I;m taking lots of supplements - evening primrose, fish oil, B6, magnesium, chromium (electrolytes too if I've drunk loads and loads of water).

On sunday, I had a fast. I knew I was going to Hyde Park til late, so I had a brunch of bacon and egg then ate nothing else til the next day.

BIWI · 14/08/2012 14:16

The downside of being here is waking up at stupid o'clock because of jet lag, Nigella! So took the opportunity to check in while everyone else was still asleep.

Your menus look fine to me, so it could be hormone-related. The only other thing to consider is the amount of cream and dairy - perhaps try cutting that down/out?

clarabellabunting · 14/08/2012 14:23

Hi all!

I'm joining up and have added myself to the spreadsheet.

After putting on weight when I had my two DDs, I have half-heartedly been trying to lose weight for the past few years with no long term results.

I started following the boot-camp rules just over a week ago (I am trying to go hard-core, following Atkins Induction really), and I had lost 4lb at my first weekly weigh-in yesterday! I couldn't believe it.

I started at 10st 7lb and really want to get back to my 'fighting weight' before having children which was somewhere between 8st 7lb and 9st.

My first weigh-in has been sooooo encouraging, I hope it continues to go so well :-)

teaandthorazine · 14/08/2012 15:23

Well done clarabelle and welcome!

BIWI, hope you're having a fab time, just enjoy and worry about the carbs when you get home!

Lunch today was water, some almonds and two babybels wrapped in Serrano ham. Can you tell I was eating in the car again? Grin Am mildly headachy after a couple of fasting (ish) days but think that may be more the weather than anything else.

Dp cooked steak, mushrooms and veg last night. He's already leaving the chips off my plate without being asked... Will make spag bol minus the spag tonight I think. Am the lightest I've been for about 10 years and my trousers are falling down - love this WOE!

emmak86 · 14/08/2012 17:25

Well done about the trousers tea haha!

Welcome clarabella!

brunch- bacon, mushrooms and scrambled eggs.
D- chinese style pork chops with salad, boiled egg and some parmesan shavings Smile yummy!

Going out to lunch with my friend and the boys to pizza hut tomorrow... So all you can eat salad for me Grin

vnmum · 14/08/2012 18:37

mummyduff I would say it is linked. Your body is not used to dealing with an increased amount of carbs/sugar.

tea How are you getting on with the fasting?
I did look on the 5:2 thread but it seems alot of people are fasting then eating carby diets and then wondering why they feel bad on fasting days. I think it would work much better for low carbers as we won't have the blood sugar drops. I did have a fast day today and managed 23 hours with no calories then had poek stir fry. My only problem was that I went to the gym this morning for a weights session and then didn't eat anything afterwards. I know I should really have had some protein as I don't want to lose any muscle. I am thinking that if I try the 5:2 approach for a few weeks I might nick some of DH's protein shake for post workout as that would still be under the 500 cal limit but I'm worried that once I eat/drink it, it will make me hungrier than if I just didn't eat. I want to fast on my workout days as I normally workout fasted 3 times a week to increase body fat used.

Hope you are having a lovely time BIWI despite the food issues.

NigellasGuest · 14/08/2012 19:35

Thank you for that BIWI - I will keep plugging on.
Yes perhaps it's the dairy.. though I've not even had much of that lately,TBH. Feel really full a lot of the time.

Perhaps I will try some proper fasting.

Shame that there's no easy answer when the STS problem is "hormonal." I shall keep up the water intake for want of any other ideas.
Enjoy the sunshine! Thanks

hazchem · 14/08/2012 19:50

pretty good day today.
B: fried egg with low carb bubble and squeak
L: 2 eggs cucumber, nuts
D: prawns and cabbage (weird I know but it was kinda tasty)
S: Yogurt, cream &rasberries, cheese
E: 15 run and 3 quite long walks

But I am going to watch the Great British Bake off tonight! It might be a little like torture. Then tomorrow is my birthday. Planning lunch at a pub with some girlfriends so will aim to have a bunless burger or something and just a champagne (or two) .

teaandthorazine · 14/08/2012 20:07

vnmum - the fasting's seemed okay tbh. I've done it in a casual sort of way really - hadn't decided to specifically start but the last two days just turned into 'fast days' as work was so busy with no chance to eat! I did have a spoonful of coconut oil yesterday morning but then didn't eat until 8pm, so almost 24 hours without actual food.

I agree about the 5:2 thread - it's really interesting but I've not joined because counting calories is not my thing at all. I think you're right about fasting working best with low-carbing - the blood glucose control helps with hunger and is absolutely essential imo. Otherwise you're just starving yourself and will feel crap, surely? (And some people seem to have a very strange idea of what constitutes a fast anyway - crisps, coke, etc?? Hmm)

Re: protein, I tend to have a shake most mornings anyway and am pretty sure I can incorporate that into a fast day - worth a try for you? I don't think it makes me any hungrier...

teaandthorazine · 14/08/2012 20:11

Actually I don't think the person eating crisps and drinking coke was fasting so sorry if you're reading this Blush Grin (but it's still not proper healthy food imo!)

topsi · 14/08/2012 20:13

Watching the Great British Bake Off not such a great idea!

mummyduff · 14/08/2012 20:30

Welcome clarabella and well done.Smile

vnmum, thanks and I think you are right, I have been very good today and feel so much better, it is mad how things affect your body!!

Breakfast - boiled egg
Lunch - salad
Dinner - steak and veg with melted cheese
4 litres of water
1 coffee

Just watching supersize v superskinny.......did flick to GBBO topsi but couldnt face all that lovely foodWink

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 14/08/2012 20:34

Bloody long hard day. Up at 5.30 thanks dear toddler and then left the house at 8 and didn't get home until 7! Walked through the door as toddler was heading up to bed, I put her down and fell asleep on the bed.

However. Drumroll please. I didn't give in to carbs! I did have an apple at lunch but took salad and scotch egg and had a big bottle of water. I did have a fruit juice mid afternoon but it was that or severe dehydration.

Now if I can just stay awake until dinner all will be well

captainmummy · 14/08/2012 20:55

Where do you get coconut oil from? And is it coconutty? Or oily? I notice some of you eat it by the spoonfull...

B- scrambled eggs
L- lettuce, ham and mayo
D - turkey mince burger with lettuce and mayo, coleslaw (cabbage and leek and mayo only), soya yoghurt and about 5 blueberries.
S - about 5 brazil nuts. WIll prob go and finish the extra burger i made for brekkie tomo!

hazchem · 14/08/2012 22:41

Bake Off was good. I managed to survive by having a little dark chocolate. Love that Aldi Dark choc comes in bar of five small bars much easier not to eat the whole thing.

Jins · 14/08/2012 23:17

My Parisian weight gain was only a pound Grin

We're away in the caravan now so hopefully my level of control will improve.

I'm intrigued by the fasting but not enough to try it

emmak86 · 15/08/2012 08:24

Morning

Well done jins Smile

I dont think id tempt myself by watching the bake off :/ would set my imagination off!

Im off out for shopping and lunch today! Pizza hut... Least i can get an all u can eat salad!!!

Have a nice day all Grin

hazchem · 15/08/2012 08:27

Well not a great start really.

OH very thoughtfully made me a birthday breakfast of strawberries and cream. The cream tasted like soya and I asked it it was soya and he said no but it turns out its that Elmlea stuff which does have soya (and a whole host of other weird shit) . But my tummy feels all weird now.
