Well, week 15 of Bootcamp has just ended. But the support and banter will continue! I, for one, am carrying on for the next couple of weeks until my holiday, in the hope that I can drop another pound or so before I go.

There have been some brilliant losses in the last two weeks, so I'm hoping that you'll all be sticking with it too!

sorry bloating tip was for nigella not VNmum having serious blonde day today Grin

ILoveStripeySocks · 07/08/2012 15:13

Shiraz, there is a recipe theread here somewhere!

ILoveStripeySocks · 07/08/2012 15:14

Shiraz here you go!

LookBehindYou · 07/08/2012 15:21

I expect you already know this but lasagne is good with ricotta and mozarella mixed together for the sauce. I use aubergine instead of pasta. Slice it quite thin so it cooks and then scatter the grated mozarella and ricotta over.

mummyduff · 07/08/2012 15:28

lookbehindyou I hadnt thought of that combo for the cheese sauce, will try it next time Thanks

emmak86 · 07/08/2012 15:31

Afternoon Smile

Have had a great day shopping today!

I bought a top in a smaller size AND i got told i look like ive lost weight (for the first time). Wooo!

mummyduff. Whats courgette like in a lasagne.. Does it go very soft? Like an aubergine would in a moussaka? X

LookBehindYou · 07/08/2012 15:34

courgette and aubergine only go soft if you cook them beforehand. I salt the aubergine and leave it for half an hour or so to get all the water out. Same for courgette. It stays firm then.

LookBehindYou · 07/08/2012 15:36

mummyduff, you're welcome Smile. I've nicked a lot of recipes from the low carb threads so thought it was only fair to return the favour.

hazchem · 07/08/2012 15:46

Umm so I saw something on Low Carb Lasagna and using sliced elemental cheese instead of pasta but my local sainsbos doesn't have that. Could I use any other hard sliced cheese instead? It;'s for a LC dinner party/ramadan breakfast so would like it to work:)

LookBehindYou · 07/08/2012 15:48

Hmmm, hazchem. Maybe swiss cheese? Did you see my suggestion of ricotta and mozarella? It's very nice and creamy. If you don't want to use courgette or aubergine it would be nice over leeks.

TeamGBIWI · 07/08/2012 15:57

Afternoon all!

Back to 9.11 (and a half) for me. I was a bit surprised because I know I've lost more weight - I had to fasten my watch on the next hole up yesterday. I am on the last hole now!

I'm trying not to slide into a massive 'fuck it' moment, as I race towards Saturday (did I tell you I'm going on holiday? Wink). But I'm going out tonight, so wine is likely to be involved - I've been pretty good about not drinking during the week, but I know i won't be tonight. I had my last work meeting this morning, so I'm pretty much on holiday from now.

Welcome, shiraz - looks like everyone has pointed you in the direction of the stuff you need to know. But if you have any other questions, just shout.

Nigella - all I know re bloating is to drink more water. (But remember QueenStromba's advice about that)

I caught the Horizon programme on iPlayer last night, and thought it was really interesting. I wonder, though, about the insistence on calories. I understand the principle of restriction/fasting, but I also wondered about how the calories should be composed - does it make any difference if you just eat whatever you want, or would we still be better to continue to low carb on a fast day?

Hi all - am back from weekend in Cologne - did NOT go well! Thought i'd be ok eating just the hotel breakfasts (bread/cheese/meats, yogs, meusli) and not eating again till evening, like i used to with the high-carb WOE. Chuck in a few (small) beers per day and ice creams and I'm 3lbs up today. Was doing soooo well too, sob!

Back on LowCarb today - 3egg omellette for breakfast, 2 slices ham with cheese for Lunch and a few nuts for snacks so far. (though did have about half a sq of Lindt choc bought back for the office from the chocolate museum - was Lime/Yoghurt flavour, v unusual, v nice (but white choc, soooo sweet! Didn't need much)

BTW - re 'toilet' issues - in my High-carb days, I was regular as clockwork. Every 24 hours, that's where i'd be. Since starting this WOe though it's been more like every 3-4days. However, during this weekend, i was back to 24hours, or less even. (Even a bit too errr, urgent, IYSWIM)

jan2011 · 07/08/2012 16:25

i been eating turkey subway salads, babybels, salmon and broccoli

coffee with cream

in all the stress i think ive been eating a bit more but im not putting on any weight probably cos im anxious. haven't felt like carbs much which is strange

baby has been unsettled while im at mums and not sleeping great, but they have been so so supportive. dh is taking things very badly.

hope all of u are doing well. my parents are so happy to see me eating meat etc these days instead of constantly being on stupid faddy diets!

TeamGBIWI · 07/08/2012 16:29

I'm glad you have your family to support you, jan. That's so important.

OP posts:
vnmum · 07/08/2012 16:41

can I just ask those of you who make the low carb lasagne, do you just make the bolgnaise sauce as usual then choose the pasta substitute and layer with white sauce substitute? I was thinking of giving it a go with the emmental cheese but don't really know how to make a good low carb bechamel sauce. Double cream with grated cheddar melted in? or would that be too rich or runny?

mummyduff · 07/08/2012 16:59

Jan I'm so pleased you have a supportive family, take care.

Re my lasagne I make my bolgnaise sauce from scratch and dont use tomato puree, Emma no the courgette stays firm as i did not pre cook, its tastes scrummy. I made 2 one is in the freezer and I still had left over sauce, so I added chopped up courgette and froze it.

MrsOnYourMarksGetSetPoirot · 07/08/2012 17:04

Hello! Welcome shirazyum I also have more than about 5 stone to lose! However h

MrsOnYourMarksGetSetPoirot · 07/08/2012 17:12

Sry! However holidays currently holding me back - well mostly my not low carbing and blaming hols!

Re shopping I just buy meat/fish for each night (eg pork belly, steak, salmon, chicken to roast etc) then lots of salad (lettuce and cucumber) and then some green veg (beans, courgette etc) usually one per night. Then some babybels to snack on and pork scratchings If necessary!

teaandthorazine · 07/08/2012 18:02

am just about to eat pizza and drink wine. maybe even dairy milk. don't try and stop me. have had 3 hours sleep since Sunday including a horrendously sad shift at work. I'm diving headfirst into carbs and I care not.

I'll see you on the other side.

TeamGBIWI · 07/08/2012 18:05

Make sure that you enjoy them!
