Well, week 15 of Bootcamp has just ended. But the support and banter will continue! I, for one, am carrying on for the next couple of weeks until my holiday, in the hope that I can drop another pound or so before I go.

There have been some brilliant losses in the last two weeks, so I'm hoping that you'll all be sticking with it too!

I have only ever had 1 attack up to now and it was pretty grim.
my diss had to have her gallbladder out as it kept getting infectd and - I kid you not - they cut her in half to get the damn thing out so it's put me off having it out somewhat!
Oohh.... pannacotta....

TeamGBIWI · 06/08/2012 12:29

There is a theory, Nigella, that occasionally a carb 'blow out' can get weight loss going again if it's stopped - but I have no idea why that would be!

Glad you had a good time though.

Good to hear you had a great birthday weekend as well, Sharon!

Hello all from the lovely Lake District Smile

Managing to stick mainly to LC in my meals, though I'll admit to ice cream, biscuits and wine- and there'll be a trip to the Pancake House later this afternoon.

May need to bootcamp it up when I get home Blush

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 06/08/2012 12:42

morning all

had pork smart leftovers for breakfast and lunch is seafood with salad and mayo

I had my last alcoholic drink yesterday until Christmas, have somehow lost my scales in the house move and so not really sure what my current weight is

mummyduff · 06/08/2012 12:55

Morning all and well done to all the loosers, well doneGrin

BIWI my DH was a complete drunken k**b on Saturday, he got drunk with my DM's partner and became so opinionated, I nearly poured drink on his head!! Men Angry

Fiddle, thank you for sorting out the spreadsheet x

Jan, hope today is a bit better for you.

So I sts today - not surprised as not been good really since last Thursday!!

Breakfast - boiled egg
Lunch - bacon, egg & mushroom fried in butter
Dinner - roasted belly of pork with veg Smile

Ilovemyteddy · 06/08/2012 12:58

Afternoon all!

Another 1.2lb down for me last week. Have amended the spreadsheet to put my actual startdate on LC and my actual starting weight, rather than what I started at when Bootcamp started It may skew the figures a bit but Ithought it would be useful for LC-ers who have a lot of weight to lose to show that it can be done, and also it helps me keep on track.

Oh, and since we have another ILove who has joined our merry band, can everyone call me Teddy please Grin

teaandthorazine · 06/08/2012 13:03

TOTM, water retention and just a wee bot bit too much dark choc have conspired to send me up s couple of pounds on the scales this morning. Ah well, I just put on some baggy (clown) trousers and immediately felt better! Being on holiday and off work is definitely not good for the waistline...

Protein shake this am, chicken and veg tonight, just gotta track down something for lunch now.

Jan, I hope you're doing ok xx

Thegoddessblossom · 06/08/2012 13:04

Hi all.

STS this morning, 9 2. WOuld really like to lose 1 or 2 pounds before next Tuesday if possible. Have been very good this weekend apart from a few gins and 2 glasses of wine.

Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs
Lunch: tuna, grated cheese, mayo, roasted courgette, lettuce and a roll mop.

hazchem · 06/08/2012 13:31

Just wanted to shout out for the Horizon program tonight on BBC 2. It's looking at intermittent fasting and how it can be beneficial to both weight lose but also health. I watch the presenter's show on exersize previously which was really interesting focusing on the type of training Briffa recommends as apposed to long slow running ect.

Don't know how OH will cope watching it as he'll have just finished 18 hour fast (it's Ramadan).

FiddleDeFat · 06/08/2012 13:35

That's just perfect Teddy. I set the spreadsheet up with just this scenario in mind, so I was hoping you would come along and update it! It's nice to have an accurate record of all the weight loss on this WOE. Your loss is mighty impressive and an inspiration.

Badvoc · 06/08/2012 13:37

I am going to watch that too hazchem!!
Sounds very interesting....all to do with giving the digestive system a break at regular intervals I think?
The presenter lost 20lbs in 6 weeks which is pretty impressive!

fufulina · 06/08/2012 14:19

Afternoon all,

78.4kg this morning, so roughly a pound in the last couple of days.

Have had a number of revelations to share:

  1. Today I felt hungry for the first time, an actual hunger. Not a ravenous, must eat carbs NOW, hungry, just a steady gnaw that was happy to wait until the food came. I don't think I've felt actually hungry for years and years.
  2. Wagamama doesn't really work on low carb. Boo. That is the first thing I am conscious of feeling like I missed out. Love a chicken katsu.
  3. Tried the hard boiled eggs with Boursin this morning. Deliciousness!
  4. Gap khaki size 14 fitted me today. And the uncooked dough that is my stomach is starting to be slightly less gross!

Am a complete convert.

vnmum · 06/08/2012 15:10

I forgot to weigh this morning so will weigh in tomorrow.
I will watch that program hazchem as I already do intermittent fasting so will be quite interesting.
Went to the gym this morning for weights workout, then did some sprints on the treadmill then went for a 5k run Shock. That will be the caffeine then.

nigella and BIWI The reason a carb blowout can get weight loss moving again is because after a while of being on any diet, leptin levels drop. Leptin is a fat burning hormone and works in conjunction with Insulin, so when Insulin is high so is leptin. When Insulin is low, leptin drops. A carb blowout, eating ALOT of carbs over a 6 hour window, preferably in the evening, will create an insulin spike and increase Leptin levels for a number of days. Eating so many carbs in one hit means that most of the carbs will be burned off as heat rather than stored as fat but you still get the benefit of the insulin spike and leptin spike. For this to work you need to have been eating less than 30g carbs for at least 10 days beforehand. I have done it, and it did break my stall of 5 weeks, but you have to be very careful that your cravings are well under control before doing it otherwise it triggers cravings for all the stodge you used to eat. Also Mark Sisson on his blog only recommends doing it if your body fat % is pretty low, around 20% for women. Mine is higher than that according to my scales but I am only a stone or less away from goal so that could be why it worked for me.
Anyway it probably explains your loss nigella even if in a lomg winded explanation Smile

TeamGBIWI · 06/08/2012 16:50

Brilliant! Thank you very much for that explanation, vnmum.

MsRinky · 06/08/2012 17:06

Hello all. I have updated new spreadsheet with my start date and weight a couple of weeks prior to Bootcamp. Over 30 lbs gone now.

I have stayed the same this week, which is fine, especially as I went out for dinner twice last week and had wine.

We go on holiday on Saturday - first down to Whitstable with dinner at the Sportsman in Seasalter, then over to Belgium for a week in the campervan. I don't get abroad very often, and so have no intention of visiting a country and ignoring the native cuisine. I will therefore be having beer and chocolate and moules frites. Oh and a waffle with that insane spread made of squished up spice biscuits. One only. For research purposes.

And then I will be back on hardcore Bootcamp.

NigellasGuest · 06/08/2012 18:17

BIWI that's interesting - I won't overdo that method though!

does anyone know anything about bloating/water retention?
I am mid cycle and tummy has suddenly gone noticeably flatter (ish). I've not done any exercise and I have a feeling I was retaining loads of water pre my previous TOM.
Has anyone any tips at all for preventing bloating returning, apart from the usual drink lots of water pretty please?? (and hello to all newbies - looks like there have been a few over the past week Smile)

emmak86 · 06/08/2012 18:27

B- was 2 scrambled eggs
L- (my usual fav) chicken breastbwith chilli and parsley and a salad
D- ive mad a pasta free lasagne!

The co op had no emmental which has been previously suggested so ive used looooads of spinch as my layers. On the top ive made my own cheese sauce : dash of italian herbs, double cream, butter and cheddar!
Cant wait to taste it Grin

emmak86 · 06/08/2012 18:38

And i must add im soooo Envy of those going abroad!

Holiday envy right here x

Ilovemyteddy · 06/08/2012 19:07

MsRinky 30lbs is really impressive in such a short time Thanks enjoy your moules frites - yum!!

hurricanewyn · 06/08/2012 19:31

Evening all - today has been easy enough, but I've been feeling very snacky. Don't know why. I'm not hungry, but feeling a bit picky.
Anyway, today I've had
B: Eggs & bacon with black coffee
L: Roast chicken & egg mayo
D: Trout, Courgette ribbons with peppers & mushrooms

Snacks have been 81% chocolate mixed with cream & a pack of pork scratchings.

TeamGBIWI · 06/08/2012 19:54

That sounds lovely Emma

MsRinky Shock 30lbs is brilliant! Well done you! Thanks

SharonGless · 06/08/2012 20:51

Oh god I have been constantly eating all day due to alcohol consumption over the weekend.
B eggs and Boursin
L tuna salad in pret a manger which was ok
D roast turkey, cabbage in butter and baby corn
Snacked on brazil nuts and salami with Philly.
Tried on clothes today but didn't buy anything

msRinky- well done! That's fantastic

Thegoddessblossom · 06/08/2012 21:18

Tea was 3 egg omelette with smoked salmon and a large green salad with mayo.

Snacks have been a babybel a g&t and coffee with a splash of double cream.

Alcohol seems to make a nightly reappearance again after two weeks of not drinking in the week but at least it's not wine which I thinks seriously stalls me.

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 06/08/2012 21:45

I kept myself very busy today and so avoided snacks until toddler tea time when a mouthful of strawberries and sponge slipped past my lips.

But my dinner was a smoked salmon, king prawn and Mayo salad. Very tasty. Washed down with sparkling water rather than wine

MsRinky · 06/08/2012 23:01

Thank you! I do need to lose another 70 though, so a long way to go.
