Well, week 15 of Bootcamp has just ended. But the support and banter will continue! I, for one, am carrying on for the next couple of weeks until my holiday, in the hope that I can drop another pound or so before I go.

There have been some brilliant losses in the last two weeks, so I'm hoping that you'll all be sticking with it too!

When you say he is refusing to eat low carb alternatives, what do you mean? Is he refusing to eat a meal?! What's wrong with meat and two veg?!

Alternatively you can cook for the family and just leave out the carb element for yourself. So, for example, on Friday I roasted a chicken and we had that with roast vegetables - peppers, shallots, courgettes, fennel and potatoes. With that, we had asparagus with parmesan and tomatoes with mozzarella. I had everything apart from the potatoes. How on earth would your DH 'know' that you were serving him a low carb meal if you served him all of that (minus the potatoes)?

But - and I say this very kindly - please don't blame not being able to stick to the WOE on what other members of your family are doing. Ultimately you have to take responsibility for yourself. If that means cooking something different for you, then so be it.

Someone was looking for the flax pizza. Don't know if it's on the recipe thread, but it's here. And it is definitely yummy!

I've set up a new spreadsheet here, which will take us up to the next proposed Bootcamp on 1st October.

Anyone can edit it, so if you are not listed please feel free to add a new line and enter your name and details. If you are not comfortable doing this, just post your details on this thread and I can add it for you.

I've brought forward the totals from the last spreadsheet so no info has been lost. Though I've just noticed that the totals on the last spreadsheet have gone squiffy somewhere along the line, so I'll have to go and sort that now. I previously posted that we had collectively lost 28 stones, but when I correct the formulas it will be more like 69 stones. Sorry Blush

OlympiaMumsnet · 05/08/2012 23:26

Right
I am going to a christening in 4 weeks time so i need to boot arse in gear. I know we aren't boot camping but am stepping things up a level.

ILoveStripeySocks · 06/08/2012 07:13

I tried bootcamp about a month ago for 2 weeks, did very well. Then I went on holiday & it all went wrong and I gained it back. This time I am following Dr Clark, but the loss is slower. Do you think its because he is more lax, or because I already tried low carb recently & put it back on?

Badvoc · 06/08/2012 07:25

I am following briffas regime iLove - they are all quite similar afaik...

sybilfaulty · 06/08/2012 07:31

Hello everyone and welcome to the new joiners!

Am flushed with joy this am as I have lost (can't remember since last weigh) but I have lost .5lb off a whole stone since I started 8 weeks ago. It also means the scales start 11 something rather than 12 something, which is fab for my ego. I am 5 ft 8 and made of bricks so am aiming for 11st 4 and will then see how I am. I am using clothes rather than weight though as my weight is always high, no matter how slim I look.

COuld never have done it without you all, so huge Thanks from me to you all.

Had curry with cauli rice last night. We don't have a microwave so I blitzed it in the Magimix then stir fried with an onion and a bit of cumin. It was fine, no less delish than normal rice which is a bit tasteless anyway.

I made normal rice for DH as he was turning his nose up at cauli rice. I don't tell him about the LC most of the time, and just make him potatoes or something to go with his supper.

Have a great day everyone. I'm off to celebrate with a boiled egg.

SingingTunelessly · 06/08/2012 07:48

Morning all!

Well done Sybil! Smile. It's such a great feeling isn't it.

Ilovestripey, I would think its slower because the carbs are higher, i.e toast and fruit allowed. Why not join us on BIWI's rules? Gawd, typing the word 'toast' has just made me want a slice. How odd haven't given it a thought for weeks. Won't have it though.

Fiddle, thank you for sorting out the spreadsheet again, you are a star for doing that.

Jan, hope today is a bit kinder to you. Thanks

ILoveStripeySocks · 06/08/2012 07:53

Well Im 4 days in and now 4lb lighter, so I am now not worried :D

hazchem · 06/08/2012 07:56

Oh jan such difficult time for you. I'm hoping you have lots of RL support with plenty of cups of tea.

fiddle thanks for the spreadsheet Is it Ok if I weigh in on a Tuesday? I go to WW and don't have scales at home.

Another question but I'm not sure how to phrase it. what percentage would protein/vegetables take up on your dinner plate? So old WOE was to aim to have 1/2 veggies 1/4 protein 1/4 carbs. At them moment I'm probably doing 1/3 protein and 2/3 veggies. I feel full at the end of the meal but often am hungry about 1 or 2 hours later.
What should I be aiming for 1/2 protein 1/2 veggies?
Should I be trying to focus on the meal differently?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/08/2012 08:09

10 stone 4.75! That means I've lost a stone in 8 weeks - hurray! Less than 2 weeks until DD's christening - wonder if I can make it down to 10 stone by then?

Fiddle, thank you for the spreadsheet, have added my new weight.

hurricanewyn · 06/08/2012 08:10

Fiddle - I've tried to add myself to the spreadsheet, but I've somehow managed to submit my details underneath all the totals so that I'm not counted?
I'm afraid I'll break it or muck up your formulas, I'll leave my details here if that's ok?
Starting date 16/07/12
Starting weight 214
Current weight 206

Sorry about that & thanks!

ILoveStripeySocks · 06/08/2012 08:15

bazchem, mine are more protein, and loads of fat! I add mayo, butter or olive oil to everything and eat the skin/fat on meat. I find this is the important bit to keep feeling full.

Ive just posted a few recipes in the recipe thread. I absolutely love cooking, and this WOE is fab for creating great recipes!

ILoveStripeySocks · 06/08/2012 08:16

Ive put myself as 100 on the spreadsheet, thats because I am far too embarassed to put my weight on Blush I have a lot to lose :(

FiddleDeFat · 06/08/2012 08:42

hazchem no problem with Turesday weigh-ins, I've put your name on the speadsheet in anticipation.

hurricanewyn have put you in your place! (on the spreadsheet)

TeamGBIWI · 06/08/2012 08:46

hazchem - the proportions should be fat:protein:carbs (as opposed to conventional 'healthy eating' guidelines which are the other way round!)

I wouldn't worry about the space they occupy on your plate, just make sure that you are eating plenty of fat and that you aren't eating too many carbs in those vegetables (I know that I say don't count carbs generally, but it's a good idea every now and then just to work out how many you are eating)

If you're hungry between meals like this, then that would suggest that you're not eating enough fat/protein and that your carb levels could be a bit high.

ILoveStripeySocks - Charles Clark is more forgiving than Bootcamp, which could be why the rate of loss would be slower. But if you've lost 4lbs in 4 days I would say that you don't have much to worry about!

I forgot to weigh this morning - mainly because I slept in the spare room last night because 'D'H was occupying all of our bed after his red wine fest last night! And I was up early to get to the gym as well - my 3rd session in as many days!

I will weigh tomorrow.

MegTheCat · 06/08/2012 10:03

hello! Can I join you? I have been lurking for a few weeks. Been doing a sort of bootcamp light / dr briffa and have lost no weight at all(!) until yesterday when I found I'd dropped 2lb. However I feel so much healthier its unbelievable. Obv it was the evil carbs making me feel tired and ill (prob should have guessed as was eating sweets for more energy...) Anyway now actually feel like doing exercise and dont have to spend a day in bed after doing it which is brill. I have low-carbed before 6 yrs ago so know it works but put all the weight back on. Just couldnt face doing atkins for the rest of my life. This woe looks like it will fit in with real life so think i could stick with it. I am going to try doing proper bootcamp now. Will try adding self to spreadsheet. Thankyou for the bootcamp thread everyone - it has helped me so much!

MegTheCat · 06/08/2012 10:18

Spreadsheet would not let me edit for some reason. Please would someone add me?
Start date 23 july 168 lbs.
6 Aug 166lbs.
Thankyou!

SharonGless · 06/08/2012 10:32

Morning all!
Well am back from my weekend of 40th birthday celebrations camping in not so sunny Wales. Had a brilliant time and mostly stuck to low carb. Everyone was very jealous of my Greek salad so I shared it out and didn't feel like I was missing out on bread rolls! Had a couple of slips (birthday cake but think thats allowed) but mainly the alcohol. My sisters had made a yummy cocktail which had fruit juice in it Confused
We played loads of games, went on to the beach and the DC had a whale of a time. Sat night was fancy dress and disco. I am aching in places I didn't know I had.

I had lots of compliments from friends who came who haven't seen me since I started this. I looked back at the pics last night and although my bmi is now 24 I would like to lose another stone before Xmas. All in all though a fantastic 40th fortnight. Plus I weighed myself this morning and STS which am pretty pleased with.

jan2011 I am so sorry to hear you have split up - sending big hugs. Keep posting, I know you have said things have been rough for a while. Not just here for LC you know, this thread has been a god send for me.

Welcome to the new joiners - onwards and downwards

emmak86 · 06/08/2012 10:35

Morning Grin

Ive just added my new weight to the spreadsheet!

Well done to everyone whose lost so far Smile

B- scrambled eggs!

SharonGless · 06/08/2012 10:39

Ilovestripeysocks - thats sounds like pretty good weight loss to me. If you are going to follow Dr Charles then it is slightly higher so weight loss might be slightly slower but this is a way of eating not a diet so you have to work out what's right for you. If you are going to stick with it by having an orange then better to do that and lose a wee bit slower.

MegtheCat - welcome too. Have you seen the Bootcamp recipe thread which also has links to blogs. I think the key to this WOE is to meal plan and keep your interest in food by finding different things to eat. The creamy spinach soup which I posted on the thread is a huge hit in my house - my children think it is pesto soup!

SharonGless · 06/08/2012 11:09

Badvoc
Have a read of this link about gallstones with a high carb diet.
Looks like low carb could really help you

Badvoc · 06/08/2012 11:13

I know what you mean re; Atkins. It's too strict for me.
I am following briffa I think.
It may take me a bit linger to lose the weight but that's ok with me.
Must make some squash soup this weekend...I love it and it's really easy to make.

SharonGless · 06/08/2012 11:21

Badvoc - I have just read that link properly now. It looks like a Swedish survey was conducted which showed that high fat, low carb worked for gallstones suffers. Are they painful?
I am back being strict after my blowout but I love butternut squash soup too - I make it with a bit of ginger in. YUMMY

NigellasGuest · 06/08/2012 11:48

Hello everybody - I'm back from a week away with DH on a city break. About 4 nights running I indulged with the alchohol, and with puddings. Although i did avoid bread, potatoes and pasta the entire time (easy for me). I thought I'd probably put on half a stone! But I am very slightly DOWN weight-wise.

this is obviously good, but i am incredibly confused, to say the least.

any ideas anybody about what on earth this could be? perhaps once in a while it's a good idea to have things like pannacotta, icecream drenched in baileys, macaroons, I could go on..... Confused
