I say go for it Fair, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I did WI this morning but have nothing to compare it to as I am constantly on plan/off plan lately. But, I have a whole week of meals planned and so far, I've stuck to them 100% with minimal syns. So, fingers crossed for me next week.

TomDaleysTrunks · 18/10/2012 08:33

Good luck today fair and let us know if you need a hand with application

I've got off to a better start today
B: melon and ff yog
L: jacket pot, beans and cheese (HEA)
D: something out the freezer or lentil soup.

I'm stuck in with a grumpy toddler waiting for a removal man to pitch up and give us a quote. Fun fun!

grimRiaper · 18/10/2012 14:28

hi all, congrats on the list.

today I am eating my weight in crap as we wait for news from the hospital - my uncle was at A&E in the night and he now has a suspected detatched retina on top of everything else, plus he was due to see the oncologist (?) this morning, so hopefully he's been able to keep that appointment too. Daren't ring my mum for news yet.

DH's hospital news not good. DS2 has been discharged by the NT clinic though - no sleep apnoea.

kid · 18/10/2012 16:44

I can understand why you would be tempted to eat loads of junk Ria with all that going on Sad

Fingers crossed for some news on your uncle soon. It must be horrible just waiting and not knowing whats happening.
Sorry to hear your DH's hospital wasn't good. At least with DS2 being discharged from NT clinic though, one less thing for you to worry about.

I've just done day 3 of shred so am now recovering a little bit before I take the dog for a walk. Then on to making dinner, putting some washing on, finishing off some school work. Best get the kids taking turns to make me some tea I think!

kid · 18/10/2012 17:07

I just wrote a big long ranting post about my Drs and the place my DD has been referred to for ankle pronation. But, I decided it was probably best I deleted it as I am NOT in a good mood.
Lets just say, at least 9 weeks from seeing Dr to getting initial assessment (providing appt is available that is, it could be longer) plus 6 phonecalls spread out over 5 weeks is unacceptable. Being told to phone back on this day, that day, phone this department, that department, ARGHHH!

grimRiaper · 18/10/2012 18:08

thanks kid.

I should've put ENT clinic for DS2. It is good he's been discharged, but he is still lazy with talking/can't breathe when eating/mouth always full of spit etcSad. I am going to start burning eucalyptus oil in an oil burner, I read a good aromatherapy blend for congestion on the net too, so will look into getting the v expensive oils to make it. How I wish I managed to do the aromatherapy course I signed up for once but couldn't do because of DH's work

DH has to have an MRI scan to check the condition of his muscles/tendons, and then it's vey likely he will have to have the full shoulder replacementSad. I am looking for a FT job as he won't be working if that happens. (Not to mention that his new job got cancelled again last night, and is now not happening at all. Why does catering have to be such a crappy, unreliable trade?)

Not sure what's happening with U. Had a phonecall from DM in tears who (having rung his DIL) more-or-less was expecting him not to be coming home from hospital again... within the half hour she had a call from U to say he was on his way home and would see her tonight to update her. It mst be good that he isn't being kept in, but don't know what to think ATM.

what is wrong with your DD's ankle kid?

kid · 18/10/2012 18:19

The full shoulder operation sounds drastic but I'm guessing its unaviodable now. Its amazing what they can do in the medical world nowadays. Hopefully, if it comes to him having the op, after the recovery period which will require lots of exercise from him, it will all be worth while.

Good luck with the oils, I have no idea about aromatherapy except that some oils smell nice which is of no use to anyone Grin
In a way, it would probably have been better if they hadn't discharged him then as you are no closer to knowing what the problem is. Haven't they been able to advise you or offer to see you in X amount of time if things don't improve?
Actually, just reading your message again and see you mention his talking is a problem. Not sure how old he is but has he been referred to Speech and Language Therapist? It could be that his tongue is in the wrong place to pronounce the words making his speech sound lazy. My DD had exactly the same thing and just had to practice making the sounds in isolation while playing a game to building up to words and then sentences.

DD's ankle bend inwards quite badly. She was a late walker (and talker!) and she sounds like she weighs a ton when she runs or even uses the stairs. I think its linked to her ankles. Its not a major issue right now, but the arches of her feet will collapse causing pain in adulthood so if we can help her now, I want to. She is 13 but could quite possibly be an adult by the time they offer her some help!

grimRiaper · 18/10/2012 21:58

that sounds nasty kid. DS2 is quite "flat footed", but it doesn't cause any problem other than being annoying! Hope you get sorted out soon.

DS2 is 9, he is very nasal, and I had assumed it was adenoids as he suffers with tonsilitis, and partly due to the broken nose he had when he was 3. He snores and complains of "goo" in his throat, but of course there's never anything to see when you get to the ENT clinic!

I love aromatherapy, and had hoped to train as an aromatherapist/reflexologist when DS1 was a baby, but as ever DH's shifts changed at work and I couldn't manage the college sessions. I may do it in the future when I finish the OU stuff, especially if DH studies reiki as he would like to - we could waft about in clouds of incense and have an alternative therapy clinicWink

how's the application going FHF?

TomDaleysTrunks · 18/10/2012 22:31

For various reasons, I won't be round the thread much anymore.

Good luck with the weight loss all. It's been great chatting away on here and I couldn't have lost 2 stone without you. Smile

Keep up the good work.

grimRiaper · 18/10/2012 22:45

Sad TDT. We will miss you. Good luck with the move and new jobSmile

FairhairedandFrustrated · 18/10/2012 22:57

Aw TDT :( I'll miss you lots, loved reading your menus. Best of luck with everything xx

Ria, sounds like you've had a helluva day! And Kid well done on the 30 day shred, must get mine hoked out too!!

I lost another 2lb this week. Am delighted with it! Now if I could, by some stroke of genius, lose 3lb this week i'll be back within target range. Would still love to lose after that to reach that 4st award.

Application is still at a standstill as I've been doing a bit of enquiring, seems this mag may not be all it's cracked up to be. It started out as free, being distributed to shops and customers could pick one up - they flew off the shelves.... which meant they were popular right?

But then they started charging for them (obviously as they need to be making money) and sources tell me they're not doing as well now they're being charged for.

The editor has jumped ship and the journalist job advertised included editor duties, ie: they want someone to do the editor's job for journalist's pay.

No job in the newspaper industry is safe at the minute with more and more news being online, with FB and Twitter etc... so after all that, I dunno whether to stick to what I know or go for it anyway..... better the devil you know as they say, but then if I don't at least apply, I'll always wonder!

kid · 19/10/2012 16:44

Good luck TDT
Please do stop by for a quick hello and catch up if you can.

Day 4 of 30 day shred completed :)
I took my measurements when I started on Monday (started sticking to SW plan and 30 day shred). I skipped shred on Weds but did go for a very short run.
I know I have lost 1inch off my hips already Shock as I was curious as my trousers felt a bit looser. I won't do all of my measurements yet as its early days but wow, I'm impressed.

Food didn't quite go to plan last night, I caved in but think I scrapped by within syns.
Today has been much better. I was so tempted to dip into the biscuit tin as soon as I got in from work but instead, I reached for the shred DVD instead.
Think I'll have a nice cool shower now and settle down with a cup of tea in front of the tv with my school work. Hopefully its the last night or weekend I'll be bringing work home. I'm only doing it as I want to be organised at work but there aren't enough hours in the day.

grimRiaper · 19/10/2012 23:33

hope the thread won't fall to pieces without TDT.

really good news tonight - DU's brain scan is clearSmile! Eye specialist concerned about the cause of the eye problem as can't see what it is due to blood, but at least the dirty bastard cancer doesn't seem to have spread anywhere else.

have applied for a TA job in a senior school today

also have a valid late "hormonal" reason for my gain this week (aside from the biscuits!)

DH has some temp work on Sunday, so we are having a day out tomorrow, no doubt it will involve several miles of walking! He has also applied for 2 jobs today.

RE your application FHF, I think I would still apply, and raise those points at interview, and see how it goes from there. (forgive me for taking encouragement that it isn't just DH that applies for jobs that promise the world but in reality are shite-in-a-bag)

heading to bed now instead of pouring more wineShock last night involved waking up at every car that started up/went past (DU's DD lives a few doors away from me, and DU lives around the corner. it all seemed bleak last night so was kind of expecting/dreaming bad newsSad) and I've endured school harvest festival today!

hope everyone is well

Huffpot · 20/10/2012 08:34

Awww TDT you will be missed indeed

Thats fantastic news Ria

Was very bad lazy last night and got chicken and chips for dinner and have a very lavish first birthday party this afternoon for a Brazilian friend's little girl and its catered and everything. Apparently 1st birthdays are a big deal in their culture so am hoping I can find my will power!

B: Porridge with banana and a cuppa
L: Cous cous salad
D: Prob gammon with mash and veg or wedges and salad

FairhairedandFrustrated · 20/10/2012 18:40

Good news about your uncle Ria, pleased for you!! :)

Hope the birthday party went well huff!!

Yesterday and today have went well on plan!!

Yesterday I had speed curry for lunch, spag bol for dinner and Superfree between meals.

Today I had fruit breakfast, tomato and garlic soup for lunch, diet coke chicken and sw chips for dinner. Again, Superfree between meals. Diet coke chicken all bulked out with peppers, onions, mushrooms :)

grimRiaper · 20/10/2012 20:15

that sounds like quite a party huff, hope it was fun.

you are being V viruous FHF.

walk done, didn't clock it on my pedometer, but the cycle path sign I noticed when we got back to the car said 5 miles! We walked all the way back on the cycle path, so thats a definite 5 miles, we walked there half way on the cycle path and half on the beach, so I think we're talking around 9 miles. I certainly am feeling it in my not-broken foot (and the other one TBH, it's the first walking we've done since my fall and foot/trolley incident!) We did have picnic and chips though.

will try to get onto the healthy eating bandwagon tomorrow.

FairhairedandFrustrated · 21/10/2012 19:30

Omg my mouth has lost control and I've been troughing for Ireland :(
