Here we are again - new thread time! Can you believe we're on our 9th one?

I've been down to DFS and got us some new squidgy sofas. Feel free to add anything else you like Grin

OP posts:

star week for me (first one in 4 months!) so not expecting a great miracles this week but at least I'm exercising again.

I've been shopping today so got some healthy meals planned for the week ahead but weekends are always so hard. I just assume 5 very good, syn free days with at least 5 shreds a week must be decent enough to see some results either on the scales or on inch loss. Time will tell for sure though.

grimRiaper · 21/10/2012 20:20

oh dear FHF, any reason?

have you had a look at the 5:2 threads kid? five good days must be better than five bad ones though!

I have been cleaning/tidying. The kids are convinced we're having guests, because apparently the house is never this tidy unless someone's coming round! Blush

kid · 21/10/2012 21:09

DH comments that I only tidy up when people are visiting us. Its not true though, my house is tidy after people have visited too, like tonight for instance.

My 5 good days include no syns, so I assume I'll be okay. Fingers crossed anyway.

grimRiaper · 21/10/2012 21:47

my house is all or nothing. And TBH, while the kids have been in and out with muddy shoes, and DH has been lurking around looking untidy, I haven't bothered much. I prefer the obsessive tidyness that is the other end of my scale, but I don't think the men/boys would appreciate it much! I do prefer "lived in" to "sterile" though, and I would hate the kids toys to be banished to their rooms, even if it does look like a playgroup!

I did suggest getting rid of the play kitchen today, as there isn't room for it without serious organisation, but DS1 (!) (who the kitchen was bought for in the first place when he was 3) won't let me!!!!

grimRiaper · 21/10/2012 21:48

do you feel deprived without syns kid? I did that the other week when I had that decent loss, but I couldn't sustain it.

kid · 21/10/2012 22:00

I don't mind not having syns as I think it gives me a little bit of leeway for weekends.
My house still looks lived in but has a minimilist feel. There are currently 5 pairs of shoes in the living room but only 3 of us here tonight.
I don't know how there can be so much hair around the house either. I mean, surely the dog should be bald by now with all the hair thats fallen out.

I have gone way overboard this weekend with food. I went out for a meal yesterday and although I didn't have any alcohol, I did have desert and a big fat greasy meal. I didn't eat much dinner though and had weetabix for breakfast so who knows. I have also lost 1inch off my hips so I must be doing something right.

FairhairedandFrustrated · 21/10/2012 23:01

No Ria, I think it's just a notion in my head. I weigh on a Thursday, Friday I had 2.5syns, yesterday I had 6.
I'll list today's food as it might not be as bad as I think.

Breakfast: pineapple, plum, peach, melon, strawbs and grapes with mullerlight and 3 medallions of bacon.
Took a bite of dh's cookie (counted 2 syns, was merely a nibble) out for the day, did a 4 mile walk, dh and kids had ice cream but I had a plum in my bag. Ate the end of dh's cone, counted 2.5syns even though I know that's for the whole waffle cone, dinner was chicken, carrots, cauli, sprouts, potato and sw roasties, gravy (1 tablespoon) 2 syns, stuffing 6 syns.

Had fruit salad Afters and some popcorn - 25g of popcorn is 5.5synd but I didn't have that much. Have also been munching on fruit between everything, I'm just having a hungry day.

Need to get it into perspective I think!!
Lunch tomorrow is bolognese with rice and have fruit chopped up!!

I am so warm tonight, am in bed and know I won't sleep!!

grimRiaper · 22/10/2012 08:14

that sounds OK to me FHF, I was imagining you were troughing the contents of the naugty drawer like I would be!

I don't think my house could ever be minimalist!!!

got up this morning and DS1 has built his little brothers a huge train track in the living room - awwwSmile

grimRiaper · 22/10/2012 08:16

oops, I missed a Wink there FHF. healthy eating for Ireland is good. My kind of face-filling is generally notBlush

Huffpot · 22/10/2012 16:20

Hi all. Am still hovering around.

I think I need to re-read my book and measure and refocus again....

Oh our house is always in a bit of a state as OH keeps wittering at me but there is 5 people and 2 of those are toddlers.

Doesn't help the toddlers share a boxroom and so all their toys are in the loungeroom

pah to housework...its never ending!

Just having one of those days where I feel fatter and wobblier if that makes sense. Star week could be approaching but I'm all over the place with it since my op

B: was peanut butter on toast (evil I know)
L: Didnt really have one as no time so a banana, apple and a cuppa
D: Spag bol with a bit of grated cheese on top
May have an Options after as well

kid · 22/10/2012 16:33

Its going well for me so far today.
Foodwise, I've had
B- 2 weetabix, milk (HEb + HEa)
L- Leek, and pea pasta (HEa - philidelpia)
Muller light, apple
D- Double onion fritatta and baked beans
Muller light, satsuma

I've just completed L1 D5 of shred and while I run the bath (very slowly), I'll go on the power plate for 10 minutes. Just to show DH that I didn't waste almost £200 on it. I best dust it off before I get on it!

I do love have a tidy house, but I'd much prefer to sit in front of the tv or browse the web than actually tidy it. But once its done which is usually once a week, I try and keep it tidy for as long as possible. I find there is always a never ending pile of washing and ironing. I just can't get on top of that. When other people in RL comment that they have done all of their washing, I am shocked. I don't think my washing baskets (we have 3) have ever been completely empty. In fact, my washing basket is over spilling at the moment.

I agree, pah to housework which should include washing and cooking too!

ChocolateZombiesmakemefat · 22/10/2012 22:03

Hi guys hope you all ok

Been a tad naughty the last few days, we were away for a couple of nights due to DD karate competition (she did fantastic) however a take away meal one night, followed by huge hotel breakfast then a load of crap the whole of Sunday - possibly burnt off by nervous energy watching DD compete - then followed by a meal out consisting of a gourmet chicken burger with the works along with alcohol and yummy maltesers, finishing off with another huge hotel breakfast -(i can never just eat a normal sized breakfast in a hotel, oh no it could feed 3 people by the time i have finished!).

Have been sort of good since, well lunch was good, dinner was a plate of chippy chips and buttered bread Blush not a vegetable in sight!

I am doomed....completely doomed this week....ah well.

Need to dig out my plan and stick to it from tomorrow! :)

FairhairedandFrustrated · 22/10/2012 23:35

Hey!! Sounds like some weekend choc!!

My day has been ok not a lot of Superfree though!!!

grimRiaper · 23/10/2012 09:14

can I come next time choc?Wink

I am struggling to get back on plan, am tied up in despising myselfSad

DH took DS1 to GP last night, they have put him back on the same tabs he had before for the reflux/dyspepsia, and it turns out he has a fungal infection on his scalp - too much of a coincidence there for me that his hair is falling out too. Have to collect the special shampoo today when the chemist gets it in. I am glad my maternal instincts are still working!

ChocolateZombiesmakemefat · 23/10/2012 11:23

Ria its good fun but its a bit stressful, this year was the first time DD was moved up a group because she turned 12 so she was in the 12-14 group, she also got her black belt a few months back so she was in the black belt group and the girls she was sparring with were well built 14 year olds!!! which freaked her out a bit well a lot, but she went on, lost her first match then won her second, seriously you have never heard anything like the noise made each time she scored points, fabulous support for my little one who got a well respected 3rd place, can you tell I am a proud Mother? can you? oh and nothing stealthy about that boast hahahahaha Grin

Now back to you Ria whats holding you back? is it that horrible other you inside thats trying to fuck you up by making you eat all those nice naughty things? if so give it a mental slapping and walk away from the fridge/cupboard/ stash of sweets for the trick or treaters(last one is aimed at my other evil self).

I know its weird (but then again so am I ) but sometimes I imagine the taste of the item i want to eat and sometimes thats enough i dont actually eat it, just the thought of it satisfys the evil me.

If you can say no to yourself just once then you can do it again ( note: must really take own advice)

I know i want the Monster Munch crisps in the cupboard the flaming hot ones with my lunch but I am going to say no, and I want them soooooo bad that saying no will hurt but if I can say no to the monster munch i can say no to the curly wurly later. Shame i didn't say no to the trick and treaters sweets an hour ago, ah well, every little step and all that.....

WRT the shampoo, it stinks, it really does.

grimRiaper · 23/10/2012 11:42

well done minichocSmile DH used to compete in judo (and others) which is why his shoulder is f**ked

thanks for the "talking to", not sure what's wrong with me, I'm just in a dark place and I don't feel like I'm worth the effort I should put in to look after myself. I'm bogged down with thinking IYSWIM (DH's shoulder probs, his lack of work, my work, fretting about DS1) which is a poor excuse, but it's a bit like a whirlpool inside my head, and eating properly doesn't figure. Will have stern words with self and claw my way towards the light.

ChocolateZombiesmakemefat · 23/10/2012 15:10

Good girl, there is loads going on, but snacking on crap will only make you feel even crapper - is that even a word? Eating properly is a step In the right direction

kid · 23/10/2012 16:46

just popping in before I go and make a start on dinner (meat balls).
I've just completed level1 day6 of shred, glad I did it even though I've had a hectic day at work. I am trying to stay organised but it seems the more work I finish, the more I am given to do.

SW is going well but after blowing it spectacularly at the weekend, I can only pray for a miracle.
I really should learn that I can eat a lot of junk and still expect a loss.

SlimJimBra · 24/10/2012 08:23

Hello everyone :)
Sorry for the lack of posts from me recently, dh has had 2 weeks off work and we've been busy having trips out and it was ds's birthday too so lots of cake and alcohol has been consumed.
Didn't WI last night as have throat infection and am feeling lousy, went to bed at 8.30, asleep by 9 and woke at 7.30 this morning. Obviously needed sleep! I'm going to assume I've had a 3lb gain and so will follow choc's 5-point plan again this week to try to stay at target. I'd like to be about 3lb lighter than I was at last weeks WI do am going to attempt to lose about 6lb in the next 2-3 weeks. You girls are my witnesses! Got online shop coming this pm and we did plan meals but I've totally forgotten what we're having when...

GettinTrimmer · 24/10/2012 09:02

Hi all Smile I've not left the thread.

I have sts for 2 weeks.

My plan is to lose 2 stone by the end of May 2013. I need the right frame of mind, and I feel pressured if I don't give myself enough time to do it in. I am hoping there will be a wedding announcement at Christmas from dh's niece to spur me on with the thought of looking slim in the photos.

Keep going everyone

SlimJimBra · 24/10/2012 12:55

So my plan lasted all of 30 mins, and I decided I needed to know what the damage was! Went to another group this am and I'm sure their scales were wrong as apparently I've managed to lose Confused Shock
Getting sounds like a good long term goal :) weddings always focus the mind on slimming, don't they? :o

kid · 24/10/2012 15:37

I've lost 3lb this week and an inch off waist and an inch off hips. I'm very pleased with that.

ChocolateZombiesmakemefat · 24/10/2012 15:42

ChocolateZombiesmakemefat · 24/10/2012 15:45

I am bridesmaid in May so have a goal to aim for. Would like. to hit target by Christmas though.

kid · 24/10/2012 17:54

Having a special occassion coming up is a good incentive as it gives you that extra kick up the backside which is sometimes required. Maybe you can have a mini goal for Christmas target and the final goal for May?
