Well some of you are, clearly!

And I notice more talk about maintenance, which is evidently a very good sign.

I think the best way for maintenance is to gradually increase your carbs until weight loss either stops or you find that you're putting weight back on.

Don't rush out and fall face first into a plate of pasta, though! Start with fruit and veg (be careful with which fruits and how much), and possibly some legumes - e.g. lentils, or beans - i.e. we're looking to add 'good' carbs into the diet, rather than rush straight into 'accessible' carbs which have an immediate impact on your blood sugars.

Today is Day 1 of Week 1 in my 'let's get that last half stone off' before I go on holiday. (Except that last night's meal, plus a bit of 'eye off the ball' time, means it's more than half a stone now ...)

Ok, so my first day, how does this sound?

B: 2 hardboiled eggs, 1 slice of ham
L: garlic cream fried mushrooms with 2 chopped frankfurters
D: Pork chop, mixed stir fried veg, sauteed asparagus and green salad.

4 pints of water, 1 small coffee with cream.

I feel full, but the worst part is nothing sweet after dinner! I usually have a little dark choc or some cherries or even ice cream, its such a habit and I'm really craving it now.

tartiflette · 27/06/2012 22:05

That looks good to me for a day's menu penis. Mind you mine has been fairly shocking today due to poor organisation:

breakfast - bacon and egg
lunch - celery sticks, some stuffed with pate, some with philadelphia
dinner - feta omelette, cucumber and celery salad with caesar dressing
snacks - babybel, bit of goat's cheese, three coffees with cream

Felt pretty grim after all that, too much cheese and not enough water or veg (shopping due). Made myself do Callanetics video though tonight and feel better for it.
Fanon you've reminded me about smoked mackerel which I love, will add to shopping list.

tartiflette · 27/06/2012 22:06

P.S. Am Grin at all the mushroom love!

BIWItheBold · 27/06/2012 22:11

Day 3/47:

B - 2 hard-boiled eggs, mashed with mayo and black pepper
L - (out) grilled marinated vegetables with goats cheese (courgette, asparagus, pepper, aubergine and carrot - I left the carrot); I also (tried) to avoid the balsamic glaze. Followed by beef carpaccio with rocket, Parmesan shavings and dressed with olive oil and lemon juice
s - some leftover roast chicken from last night, with olive oil/lemon juice 'jus'
D - marinated pork stir fry: pork, mushroom, chilli, mangetout and baby sweetcorn, stir-fried with beansprouts

So far have drunk about 3 litres of water. Also had 3 coffees, which was too many!

I was starving this afternoon, which I was a bit Hmm about. Not really sure why. So I've eaten quite a lot today (although my lunch was two starters, not a starter and a big main course)

Perhaps not enough fat or protein in your lunch BIWI to give you that long lasting full feeling? Esp if portions were small.

leanbh21 · 27/06/2012 23:35

fanon I don't know the official verdict on coconut milk but I found a brand that was

RatherBeABodkinsBobbleHat · 28/06/2012 07:56

Help me!!

Going to Wagamama's with a group of teens this evening, I can't eat anything can I?

I'm doomed!

RatherBeABodkinsBobbleHat · 28/06/2012 07:57

doomed

RatherBeABodkinsBobbleHat · 28/06/2012 07:57

really badly doomed

BIWItheBold · 28/06/2012 08:09

Exceedingly badly doomed I should think, Pistey Grin

tartiflette - I wondered about the fat; but I had mayo with my breakfast, the salad was dressed with oil and the carpaccio rocket was dressed with oil - and both dishes had cheese on them.

However, despite eating loads, I was another 1/2 pound down this morning, so now weighing-in at 9.13 1/4. I'm very pleased, to say the very least. However, I suspect that the loss I've seen this week has not really been fat, but just an undoing of the damage that the Chinese meal did to me. I seem to remember that the immediate impact of eating a lot of carbs is that the body restores the glycogen stores - and that this is what has been 'emptied' by reverting quickly to low carb.

Whatever. I'm just glad that things are back on track!

Re the poster who asked about puddings to eat with cream - what about no-sugar jelly? have a packet in cupboard (no instructions on it tho - must have used the one with the instructions on first! ) That has no sugar and carbs are 4.9/100g, thoi the sachet is only 11g.

Anyone know how to make it?

jan2011 · 28/06/2012 08:25

Biwi that must have been so frustrating especially since the chinese wasn't a 'planned' cheat but you ordered it and it came out wrong. its sooo annoying when stuff like that happens. but uve done great to be losing again and back on track.

i haven't lost any despite limited carbs. what ive realised is, the medication i am actually taking now is a solution and it is very sweet, its 5ml. the ingredients say sucrose - i wonder how many carbs i would possibly be taking! ive looked it up with no avail. tastes as sweet as calpol. if im taking like 30g of carbs in one spoon then i guess im not really doing low carb very well - plus i take it at dinner time so im mixing the carbs and fat together. hmmmm.

Jins · 28/06/2012 08:51

jan2011 a teaspoon of sugar is 5g. Your medication will be no more than that. You can ask if it is available as a no-sugar preparation for the future but it won't do a lot of harm

jan2011 · 28/06/2012 09:01

thats reassuring! thanks.

studyingstudying · 28/06/2012 09:10

Morning! I just wanted to say that I am still reading along with this thread, although I know I haven't been contributing.

I've been at uni from ~7 or 8am to 10 or 11pm every day for the last couple of weeks, so food has been easy to carry and keep at uni stuff like boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, precooked turkey/chicken (processed...I know thats not good), salad... Its getting a bit boring but I've only got 5 more days of this left!

So I've been maintaining, or losing very slowly, but I don't mind that too much right at the minute. (Also, I launched into a bag of Tayto crisps that I found in my desk last night Blush oops! I won't do it again, promise)

BIWItheBold · 28/06/2012 09:49

captainmummy - NO sugar-free jelly is full of artificial sweeteners, which are a big no-no on Bootcamp!

If you are going out for a lovely meal and really want a pudding a would go for the one that appealed to me the most rather than trying to guess which one had the lowest carbs. Depending on the portion size I would try not to eat it all. That way you are not breaking the diet for any old carbs, but for somethig you really want.

My other trick which is naughty and bad manners, is to try and persuade DH or the children to order the pudding that I would pick. Then I have just a little taste. Very often a spoonful is more than enough.

If you are not doing Bootcamp and want something with cream you can't go wrong with a few crushed berries. Or whip up some cream, add a sprinkle of cocoa powder, mixed spice and a few drops of vanilla or almond extract to make a spicy choc mousse. You could use coffee, mint, citrus flavours if you prefer.

BettySuarez · 28/06/2012 09:57

Made a whey protein shake this morning as a little experiment as some mornings I just cannot face food.

It was ok, I added a little cream but I could taste the Sucralose in it (bleurgh!) so won't be going back in a hurry.

Strictly for emergencies I think.

I seem to be gaining and loosing the same 1-2 pounds this week Sad not sure what I'm doing wrong but will persevere.

Have lost 7 pounds in 15 days though so not too bad.

Jins · 28/06/2012 10:15

I hate protein shakes but I hate anything remotely milky. I bought some whey protein once as I had a recipe for something sweet and sinful that required it. It was minging.

DH has a protein shake for breakfast every day. We worked out a few years back that he was protein deficient. Low carb would not suit him at all, he's fit, healthy and slim on a diet of vast amounts of rubbish and so far he seems to naturally adjust intake to maintain weight. Still fits into his wedding suit after 19 years the bugger! The increase in protein has made him much fitter though.

puffylovett · 28/06/2012 10:18

Hopping on to say hi, and creamed mushrooms for me for lunch today Grin

teaandthorazine · 28/06/2012 10:18

Morning! My curry last night was AMAZING. I did have a glass of wine and one poppadum too - god it was lovely.

Can we start putting LOW-CARB bootcamp in the thread titles btw? There are so many threads on here asking about LC - it's a full time job just directing everyone over here Wink

Betty - which protein powder are you using, out of interest?

vnmum · 28/06/2012 10:23

betty I used to have protein shakes quite regularly but I found the sweetner was giving an insulin response. I now only have one in strict emergencies when I haven't got time to eat anything especially after the gym when I know I need to eat something.

Down to 9st 13.5lb this morning - hoping it stays that way.

B- greek yog with roasted flaked almonds plus 3 boiled eggs mashed with butter and coconut oil. (I was really hungry this morning)
L - organic lamb steak (found reduced in tesco this morn) with creamy mushrooms
D- surf and turf kebabs with salad.

I really need to lose weight off my inner thighs. It is such a stubborn place to lose it from. The reason being that my jeans are massive round my waist and bum but I don't think my legs would fit in the next size down.

BIWItheBold · 28/06/2012 10:36

My only worry with doing that, tea, is the number of people who might end up here slagging it off - I'm losing patience with them/having to defend this WOE/Bootcamp, and this is our place, IYSWIM!

OP posts:
vnmum · 28/06/2012 10:54

I have just posted on a few threads but these are people who seem keen to give low carbing ago.

You will always get people who think their diet is the best and others are terrible. The thing with this WOE is that it is for life and is based on some pretty good science which when you read it all it actually makes perfect sense and the science has been around since the 1800's.

Anyone who comes on these threads to slag it off can just be ignored. They'll soon get bored if they don't get a response.
I do understand your point BIWI about it being our place but I also understand what tea is saying about it being easier to find for newcomers

jan2011 · 28/06/2012 11:52

studying well done on maintaining/losing slowly while under so much stress- thats a long time to be in uni - just think you will be FREE soon :)

vnmum perhaps your legs are just nice and muscular cos youre so fit?
