Bootcamp Week 11 - Two Thin Ladies!

Well some of you are, clearly!

And I notice more talk about maintenance, which is evidently a very good sign.

I think the best way for maintenance is to gradually increase your carbs until weight loss either stops or you find that you're putting weight back on.

Don't rush out and fall face first into a plate of pasta, though! Start with fruit and veg (be careful with which fruits and how much), and possibly some legumes - e.g. lentils, or beans - i.e. we're looking to add 'good' carbs into the diet, rather than rush straight into 'accessible' carbs which have an immediate impact on your blood sugars.

Today is Day 1 of Week 1 in my 'let's get that last half stone off' before I go on holiday. (Except that last night's meal, plus a bit of 'eye off the ball' time, means it's more than half a stone now ...)

I picked up some LO salt today, and ate some . I noticed that I didn't feel spaced out, I didn't get that burning feeling in my legs when I walked up the hill to school and I wasn't as thirsty.

Thanks QueenStromba Smile

b - bacon and eggs
l - salmon and avocado
d - slow cooked lamb with anchovies, fresh spinach and mushrooms cooked in cream Grin

SingingTunelessly · 27/06/2012 18:50

Mumofjust1, if you doing Bootcamp Lite you can have strawberries. Can't think of anything else but maybe someone else can

How muggy how it been today?! Horrid 4 litres of water has gone down easily enough.

SingingTunelessly · 27/06/2012 18:51

Doh I meant the weather was horrid not the water obviously.

NonAstemia · 27/06/2012 18:57

Thank so much for replies. Just sitting down to eat - will reply more fully a bit later. Smile

BIWItheBold · 27/06/2012 19:03

mumofjust1 - are you doing Bootcamp? If so, you shouldn't be eating puddings! No sugar/artificial sweeteners allowed, or fruit, which pretty much rules them out. The idea of Bootcamp is to break our addiction to sugar and curb the sweet tooth.

Hi have lost 4lb of last weeks 7.5 gain. Re the mushrooms and cram dh makes it for me with tarragon in delish

BettySuarez · 27/06/2012 19:11

Well not wanting to feel left out, I made mushrooms in a creamy peppercorn sauce tonight. Added some chicken and small dollop of mustard.

It really was very very nice and filling too.

Quite surprised as not a huge fan of mushrooms but can't wait to do it again

Have also bought some whey protein (strawberry flavour) to make up for breakfast as really need a break from eggs.

Not planning to have it every morning, but the change will be nice Smile

leanbh21 · 27/06/2012 19:16

Mushrooms and cream seems to be today's special! I had mushroom soup which was essentially mushrooms, cream and a little bit of water. I forgot to season it (got distracted) but the idea of tarragon sounds nice. Might add that to the leftovers for tomorrow.

HumphreyCobbler · 27/06/2012 19:18

the slugs have eaten my tarragon

smokinaces · 27/06/2012 19:32

Loads of meals out this week and weekend.

But I'm ready for it.

Had steak and salad yesterday. Didn't even pick at the kids chips. I did try their sausage and their burger meat as they were complaining it was spicy. But no chips. Didn't even fancy them when they were sitting in front of me.

Am out Friday night and saturday lunch. Think it will be steak and salad or fish and salad for both!

NonAstemia · 27/06/2012 19:33

frankie maybe I've not been drinking enough water then; I did think that it was something to do with my period as it is pretty heavy.

stromba I couldn't stomach the thought of a stock cube; I've felt like retching all day at the thought of food.

Thanks BIWI Smile I've been eating as follows:

breakfast - a whole avocado, mashed with salt and pepper

lunch - usually two boiled eggs, homemade mayonnaise, a tomato (or a couple of cherry ones), watercress/celery, a chopped anchovy, all mixed together.

Some dinners over the past week...
fish curry with cauli, mushrooms
salmon fillet with broccoli and a butter cream sauce (several times!)
steak with mushrooms in garlic butter
roast chicken with celeriac mash and roasted broccoli, gravy (made with tiny bit of arrowroot as thickener)

Lots of cheese! Blush I love cheese!
Lots of water >2L per day
Max of two cups of tea a day

I've been feeling great on it, apart from feeling a bit nauseous at times. Yesterday and today though I've felt sick at the thought of food and this morning I gagged on my avocado and could barely manage half my lunch. I feel better for having eaten my dinner now.

BIWItheBold · 27/06/2012 19:35

Well you must be pregnant. That's the obvious solution!

Maybe I just haven't haven't been eating enough over the past few days?

NonAstemia · 27/06/2012 19:37

Who me??? No chance... unless it's an immaculate conception. Grin

BIWItheBold · 27/06/2012 19:40

Your meals look fine to me. And 9 days in, there should be no reason why you are having carb withdrawals now. It could just be a coincidence - you may have picked up a bug of some kind?

I would make sure that you are eating enough salt, just in case, but otherwise, just take it easy and carry on. Don't force yourself to eat if you're not hungry - but I know that sometimes I can feel a bit sick if I haven't eaten anything, so keep an eye on that as well.

SharonGless · 27/06/2012 20:23

I have read the article in the daily express just appears to be further lazy journalism relating to low carbing using the same Swedish survey with any links to diet rather than effects of smoking and alcohol in conjunction with diet

NonAstemia · 27/06/2012 20:24

Thanks BIWI. I didn't have any carb withdrawal at all, much to my surprise! I felt better right from the start.

I think I haven't been eating enough the last couple of days, and possibly not drinking quite as much as I need - that coupled with blood loss might account for it. Thanks for the advice; I appreciate it! Smile

SharonGless · 27/06/2012 20:30

Breakfast m mushroom and cheese omelette
I miss lunch but had a few nuts and lots of water
T salmon with a big green salad and mayonnaise
Welcome to our new joiners I'm on my phone so can't reply properly I can honestly say this way of eating is the best thing that's ever happened to me plus BiWIfor setting up this week to come on thread

Thegoddessblossom · 27/06/2012 20:37

Well I am still in a train having been to Chesterfield and back via London today.

Took with me:

3 baby bels
Pepperami
Pkt macadamia nuts
Pkt pork scratchings

So that was basically lunch. Have just eaten a packet of salad and a olive and feta cheese salad bought at m&s Waterloo, so have had at least some greens. Also drunk 2 plus litres water.

Not ideal as lots of processed things, but fairly lo carb I think. Grin

BettySuarez · 27/06/2012 21:02

Taking the kids our for posh meal on Saturday night to celebrate end of exams.

Have perused the menu and there are some delicious steaks/veg options which will be suitably low carb but I might be tempted by a pudding so ladies in your opinion which one of these would be the lowest in carbs?

Clementine cheesecake with Clementine sorbet
Treacle tart served with apple sorbet and coffee syrup
Strawberry mousse with a home-made shortbread biscuit
Vanilla panna cotta served with a mixed berry compote
Rich chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream and butterscotch sauce
Sticky toffee brioche pudding served with toffee sauce and clotted cream

Sorry, I feel a bit mean posting this!

Fanon · 27/06/2012 21:18

Evening all! Betty those deserts sound amazing, but I wouldn't have a clue about the lowest carb count.

I have been quite good today.
B: eggs & bacon
L: smoked mackerel and curly kale fried with butter and cream
D: chicken fajitas without the wrap and salsa, and lots of extra veg.
Too much coffee and not enough water.

Can anyone tell me if you can use coconut milk in boot camp?

SingingTunelessly · 27/06/2012 21:20

Sounds lovely Betty. Possibly panna cotta? Or you could be virtuous and have the cheeseboard .......... Grin

PenisVanLesbian · 27/06/2012 21:23

I would imagine the mousse or the pannacotta, particularly the latter?

Jins · 27/06/2012 21:24

Pannacotta with berries if you'd eat the whole thing but strawberry mousse is probably better as you could leave the shortbread.

Cheeseboard better still though

BettySuarez · 27/06/2012 21:25

I know, I know Grin

Chances are I won't have any because (weirdly) puddings don't have the same appeal as they once did but it's nice to think I could treat myself once in a blue moon Wink
