Well some of you are, clearly!

And I notice more talk about maintenance, which is evidently a very good sign.

I think the best way for maintenance is to gradually increase your carbs until weight loss either stops or you find that you're putting weight back on.

Don't rush out and fall face first into a plate of pasta, though! Start with fruit and veg (be careful with which fruits and how much), and possibly some legumes - e.g. lentils, or beans - i.e. we're looking to add 'good' carbs into the diet, rather than rush straight into 'accessible' carbs which have an immediate impact on your blood sugars.

Today is Day 1 of Week 1 in my 'let's get that last half stone off' before I go on holiday. (Except that last night's meal, plus a bit of 'eye off the ball' time, means it's more than half a stone now ...)

Fiddle count me in, is tomorrow weigh day? If so, I'll weigh next Monday does that sound ok?

BIWItheBold · 01/07/2012 08:56

Welcome, AlpinePony - well done on your losses so far.

But I have to take issue with us being boring Shock

MAKE NOTE OF THE BRIFFA WEBCHAT ON WEDNESDAY - GET YOUR QUESTIONS IN NOW!

For some reason MNHQ haven't given us much notice of this, nor is the thread announcing it a stickied thread, so it keeps dropping out of active convos.

Heartstart · 01/07/2012 09:28

alpinepony my weight very similar in that my goal
Is more than some people are starting at. I did just do it though in the end as writing it down made me stop ignoring it! You've done brilliantly to lose 17kg already Envy.

SingingTunelessly · 01/07/2012 10:00

Thanks BIWI, just posted on that.

Welcome Alpinepony and well done 17kgs that's fantastic am useless at metric Blush. Old gimmer me.

Am bracing myself to be added to the weightless spreadsheet but am with others on here who are almost embarrassed to publically declare weight. Wonder why we feel that way really.

Amaxapax · 01/07/2012 10:02

Hello! I'm not much of a joiner on MN, but I've been reading these threads with interest for a bit now. On Monday I started following the Bootcamp rules and in the past week or so I've lost six pounds. Granted most of this is probably water weight, but I'm down to 12 stone, half a pound and I can't believe how easy it has been. I've really been enjoying the food and I feel so much fuller and more satisfied than I have on previous eating plans. I'm also drinking loads of water and have pretty much entirely given up Diet Coke, which was probably my biggest addiction. Buying a Brita water filter has been a great help in encouraging me to drink water at home.
I previously lost almost three stone on WW and have mostly maintained that weight loss, but I'm getting married in March and I'd really love to lose another stone, so I'd be 11 stone and hopefully be more toned, particularly in my arms and back (the bits everyone spots in a wedding dress!). I'm 5'9", so 11 stone would be a sensible weight for me.
I have a couple of questions about toning. I noticed at least one person who said they were doing callanetics. Can you tell me what DVD or guidance you are using? I've seen some amazing results, but don't know what it entails. Alternatively, do any of you use kettlebells? I'd really like to get a DVD and a kettlebell, but I'm concerned it might be dangerous or difficult to do at home. Swinging a big weight around seems like it might have vast potential to go wrong.
Unfortunately, I can't really afford to join a gym and I live in quite a small city that doesn't really have classes like these available at other facilities. Thanks for any advice you can give!

BIWItheBold · 01/07/2012 10:10

Welcome, Amaxapax! Well done on your loss so far - that's a great result. And, more importantly in many ways, I'm glad that you've enjoyed it and found it easy.

PMMummy I have added you to the spreadsheet. Smile We weigh-in on Mondays, so you can update your weight tomorrow, and every Monday to come.

AlpinePony and SingingTunelessly No need to be shy, as the saying goes, you are amongst friends here. Although, if you prefer, we can add you to the spreadsheet with a starting weight of 100 and then count the pounds down from there. Let me know if you want to do this.

And hello Amaxapax. Fantastic first week for you. Can I entice you to join the spreadsheet too?

Creamtea1 · 01/07/2012 10:56

Hi ladies I'm sorry have been really neglecting you lately! Thoughts of TTC been drawing me in to other threads!
Anyway still loving the LC ways and steadily dropping a pound a week. Weigh in a day early today at 9st 7lb. That's a 2.5 stone loss now since jan. I want to hit 9 stone then stop. Then probably put the whole 3 stone back on if I get preg!

MNP · 01/07/2012 11:31

Brunch:sausage, bacon, raw black pudding and a few tinned toms
D:duck breast, broc and cauli fried in butter.

MNP · 01/07/2012 11:40

Welcome Pmmummy& AlpinePony Well done AlpinePony that is fab loss, I am one of the heaviest but have slowwwly lost 15lbs since Jan with 11 on this WOE since April.

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/07/2012 12:21

Out for supper last night and was good in that I just had steak and green beans - the best option on the menu. However had wine and feel fragile today - just had a few raspberries with some cream - is that ok? I'm past the 2 week bootcamp stage but haven't had any fruit at all.

thanks!

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/07/2012 12:34

Weigh in day for me here - 2 lbs off this week so at least right direction! However DH lost 8lbs this week!!!! Between us we have lost 18 lbs in three weeks which is fab. Will try to get on PC later to put on spreadsheet.

I started at 16 stone 12 if that makes anyone braver about sharing your weight...

tartiflette · 01/07/2012 13:08

Sympathies to all with hangovers. I definitely feel it more the morning after with this way of eating, even though on the whole I'm only having the odd glass or two on Fridays or Saturdays. It's a good deterrent I suppose!

mrscb you should be fine with cream and berries now you're 'established' ie past the first couple of weeks.

amaxapax Hi! I'm doing Callanetics and loving it. I bought the 10 Years Younger in 10 Hours (!) dvd from ebay (not easily available elsewhere) - have done it 5 times so far and definitely seeing some results toning/definition-wise. It suits me really well, I am sooo not into cardio or indeed anything which involves breaking a sweat, I've been a member of countless gyms and always lost momentum and stopped going after a couple of months because I just hate it. I am sceptical about the impact of exercise on weight loss to be honest: all I really want is a toned, lean body and this seems to be doing the trick (although am not there yet I must point out Blush).
So anyway, I would recommend it.

Today:
B 2 eggs mashed with mayo
L may skip it, I'm not remotely hungry and DH and DCs are out
D will be the butternut and bacon soup from IPD cookbook

Yesterday involved a LOT of magic mushrooms.

PMMummy · 01/07/2012 14:12

Quick check in with quick question - I'm hungry !!! Am I ok to snack on bits of fridge stuff and water whilst on first few days ?

BIWItheBold · 01/07/2012 14:15

Yes! If you're hungry, then eat. But make sure it's low carb stuff!

OP posts:
QueenStromba · 01/07/2012 14:18

Eat when you are hungry PMMummy but try and stick to zero carb snacks like meat, hard cheese and boiled eggs.

PMMummy · 01/07/2012 14:43

Great! Had some cheese but felt like I was cheating - years of diet mentality. Think I'm hungrier as its a slow day here today, miserable weather and my girls are looking bored ! Thanks Wink

HumphreyCobbler · 01/07/2012 14:49

Hello everyone.

I had a brilliant time at the wedding. It turned out that I didn't need to drive, so had a drink and fell off the wagon rather spectacularly Blush but was rather pleased that I was able to resume bootcamp today despite a hangover.

I haven't found out what yesterday did to my weight, but feel relaxed that I will just be able to get on with it all as before despite my fall from grace.

BIWItheBold · 01/07/2012 14:51

If you're hungry, it's a sign that you're not eating enough fat and/or protein. Remember that this WOE (way of eating) is not a low fat one! Fat and protein keep you feel full for much longer than carbs will do.

PMMummy · 01/07/2012 15:05

And with that BIWI I am now launching myself into the kitchen to prepare a huuuuuge dinner !
