excellent weight loss for you too! It's all very encouraging :)

blueemerald · 01/07/2012 18:21

Hey everyone, I've been stalking lurking for a week now and worked up the nerve to post. I've been doing 30DS and either RI30 or 6W6P every day (except Friday) and my god I can feel it! I've been using York Fitness Weights from Argos (1kg, 1.5 kg and 2.5 kg) and I have muscles in my upper arms! under a bit of fat... Overall I'm loving it but I just can't seem to 'click' with 6w6p, I find JM incredibly annoying and the routines tough to get in to, anyone else feel this way? It's a problem because my stomach/waist area is my biggest trouble zone.

I don't know if you guys do a stats thing but I'm 5'2 and about 2 stone overweight (10 stone and I'd like to be around 8).

threestepsforward · 01/07/2012 18:32

Hello!

World, am so pleased BFBM works for you with the knees! I just love that DVD at the moment Smile

Welcome blueemerald!

I think there's a divided camp on 6W6P to be honest! Some people love it and some people not so much. I'm not massively keeen, particularly L2, as it's just too fast and I feel I'm not doing much of it right. L1 is better for me as I can keep up better. Weirdly, the thing that seems to ache least after 6w6p are my abs Hmm

An alternative if you want to specifically target abs is No More Trouble Zones. It has 2 abs circuits.

Anyway, enjoy and Stick with us Smile. Have you measured yourself with a tape measure as well as weighed yourself? Do it you can as as you'll really see some changes in your measurements.

Another NMTZ today as ankle still not 100%. Felt better than yesterday but lordie still hard.

Have a good evening all...

Welcome Blue. Great news on the weight loss all!

Did L2 Killer and L1 6W6P today

L2 Killer seems a fair bit harder than L3 to me! Maybe it was because I did L3 Ripped and K2 Shred yesterday and was already slightly achy from that when I started....
Rest day tomorrow thankfully.

blueemerald · 01/07/2012 19:37

threesteps Thanks for the recommendation, I'll look up NMTZ on youtube and order it if I get along with it :) The tape measure is a good idea, I'll start that today (wish I'd done it a week ago!)

threestepsforward · 01/07/2012 20:40

notyummy I get achy just reading about your feats! Killer 2 and anything would have floored me... I think L2 is the hardest too...

Good luck blue! I guess all of her dvds target the abs to some extent (apart from Killer) so they're all good. NMTZ is great but has no cardio. If you wanted a cardio blast you could also get Burn Fat Boost Metabolism (which also has a plank / abs-ish circuit) - which is all cardio and I think is a fantastic workout - and seems to be enjoying a lot of lurve at the moment on this thread Grin

(there might be a deal for both on Amazon or somewhere?)

Don't worry about measuring a week in, you'll still see the changes Smile

Sorry I'll stop now

D5 of L2 6W6P today. Unlike notyummy I am not great on cardio. It is the first time I did not feel physically sick. On the plus side, L2 of the Shred is no longer a problem.

To reward myself I bought a lovely pair of black exercise shorts. I still have my "snowdrifts", but they do not look so bad, but feel very posh in them.

notyummy · 01/07/2012 21:04

Ginger- I find L2 6W6P v tough!

Greedygirl · 01/07/2012 22:24

Hi everyone. Hard to keep up with you all on this thread! Great weight loss going on! Fabulous. I love BFBM too but it is just too long to fit in on a regular basis.

Missed my workout today, been busy marking and playing with DS and just ran out of time. I find if I don't do it first thing then it gets sidelined. I agree with Febes - nothing like the feeling of it being over with for the day! Running again tomorrow. Need to burn off some weekend calories!

worldgonecrazy · 02/07/2012 08:51

Very envious of all the big weight losses, I've only lost 1kg, which is about 2lb so nothing brilliant. Hopefully BFBM will sort that out for me. I've decided I'm just going to have to get up earlier in the week to do it more often.

DVD is now ordered. If anyone missed the offer - I have a DVD of 6W6P free to a good home or for a donation to Operation Smile or a charity of your choice.

CHST · 02/07/2012 10:49

wow there's some fantastic results happening here! Keep up the good work everyone!
Welcome Blueemerald :)
I had a bit of a mad weekend...saturday was so hectic with school fete and pre-school charity fundraiser. I was really naughty and had a burger king for dinner. Steakhouse Angus XT. It was really, really yummy. I don't eat that sort of thing very often at all. Coupled with sweets/cakes from the fair, come sunday morning I was really bloated...can't believe the effect it all had on my body. I usually rest at the weekend but forced myself to do a 25 minute hiit workout as I felt so guilty. I think someone was asking about it? It's part of a turbofire workout I did before coming back to do Jillian. You can get it off amazon. It seriously is the most fun exercise I have ever done, however being so high cardio, I really felt I had to come back to Jillian and work with weights.
I love the hiit workouts, really do. Anyway, did workout 11 this am before breakfast and found the first circuit really tough going. (Reverse squats, scorpion pushups, static lunge jumps with a shoulder press, both sides.) Those static lunges with shoulder press kill me, because not only does it get the heart racing, it kills my legs. Anyway found my feet a bit more by the second circuit.
I can't believe I am on my last week of body revolution. I have about a month after that before my holiday so don't want to commit to a programme again. Think I am going to rotate with Jillian, a bit of turbofire and I have some Bob Harper DVDs coming from the US.

Happypiglet · 02/07/2012 11:55

Well some great news stories on here! Well done all. I seem to have caught my boy's virus and yesterday was aching all over my lower body from something other than Jillian! So I didn't do anything.
This morning I still feel coldy but forced myself to do L1 Ripped (needed something a bit easier!). Slightly regretting it now as my shivers are back....
What are our thoughts on working through colds etc. My DH says I should push through but I tend to err on the side of getting better first?

CHST · 02/07/2012 12:37

Happy I am sorry to hear you are not well. I have had colds etc through workouts. Now if I was bed bound and puking etc with little strength, I wouldn't do anything and let my body heal. However, if you feel like you have some energy, I would maybe continue to workout but not push yourself...eg maybe low impact, modified, not going all out on cardio circuits? How did you feel when you were doing the workout? I know for me, I need the routine...once I have a break in the routine, I am more likely to give up.

worldgonecrazy · 02/07/2012 12:54

If I have a cold then I don't work out. The body needs all its energy to fight the cold. If we are working out regularly I think we're all fit enough to take 2-3 days off to give ourselves a break.

notyummy · 02/07/2012 13:02

I Have read a couple of docs commenting on this and they both say the same thing: If the symptoms are above the neck only (i.e snotty/sore head etc) then try a workout. If they below the neck as well - shivering; achy; temperature - then you are better resting.

Happypiglet · 02/07/2012 13:40

Thanks all... That's interesting about the differentiation between head only and the rest... Last time I got a 'bad cold' and carried on regardless I ended up in hospital on Boxing Day with pneumonia!! So I am a bit cautious now... But like CHST says too I don't want to get out of the habit either...
It's done for today anyway so will see how I feel tomorrow...

nomorecake · 02/07/2012 14:42

Hi everyone!

sorry to crash in on your thread, just after some advice.

I would like to do a JM dvd with more strength work and less cardio, which would you recommend?

(i've already done shred a few of times before, and now jog 3x week)
TIA

threestepsforward · 02/07/2012 16:14

Afternoon all!

Hope your new exercise shorts enjoy their first day out gypsy... I'm a little envious, my trunks legs never come out of their wrapping, even for exercise!

Happy get well soon and I would definitely rest if you have the shivers. I don't think I could physically do any exercise like that, although I'm okay if it's just a snotty / runny nose...

CHST as usual reading about your workouts leave me wibbling. You should be immensely proud of yourself!

Hiya Cake! The obvious DVD I think would be No More Trouble Zones. All strength and no cardio, but don't let that fool you, you will still feel completely knackered at the end!

Have been dithering this afternoon, as I often seem to, but I'm off to do BFBM in a minute. Think my ankle is better. Was buying some chemist type stuff from Wilkos and slipped and fell in the pick and mix Blush

Hope everyone's having a good day Smile

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 02/07/2012 17:04

Agree with above the neck execise, below the neck rest. Have really bad chesty cough at the moment that has wiped me out, haven't done anything since Thursday.

nomorecake No more trouble zones, will still raise heart rate but very much toning and strength.

gypsyfloss · 02/07/2012 18:29

Sadly not my new shorts Threesteps, think they might have been Gingercat's ones. I exercise in all manner of stuff including my teen daughter's pyjama bottoms but have no snazzy shorts.Perhaps I need some...they might add a bit of oommph to those mountain climbers :)

Greedygirl · 02/07/2012 19:42

Hi everyone. No run tonight due to rain so did BFBM instead. Feeling virtuous now. About to tuck into a lovely plate of sausage and mash!

Happypiglet hope you are feeling fighting fit again soon.

CHST I'll have a look on Amazon at that turbofire stuff. Your workouts sound ridiculously hard!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/07/2012 19:43

Hi all Smile L2 done again -

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/07/2012 19:48

Argh, typing on phone while BFing, posted too soon!

That is 5 times in a week now. I felt rubbish earlier, all lethargic and I was feeling like I couldn'tbe arsed exercising. Really glad I did because I feel brilliant now. Grin

I think I will order BFBM seeing as so many of you like it. How long is it?

Greedygirl · 02/07/2012 20:03

Hi Alibaba, it's a lovely feeling isn't it! Wow, I can't believe that you are working out 5 times a week whilst still bfeeding! I did literally nothing for about 2 years after having my DS. BFBM is about 50 mins all in I think. It says 40 mins but I think that is just the main workout. You do have the option of missing circuits though so I guess you could make it shorter if needed. I really enjoy it because there is some kickboxing type routines which I really love. It is too long for me to fit in every day.

CHST I just had a look at your turbo workout! Sounds fun and a bit Shock at the same time. Do you look like the girls in the JM videos?!

threestepsforward · 02/07/2012 20:34

Sorry gypsyfloss! I did indeed mean gingercat Blush You must have read that and thought wtf? (I read your post and thought shit, she probably thinks I'm some sort of gym-gear perv Grin)

Alibaba BFBM is a great cardio workout. I'd definitely recommend it if you can fit the longer length of time in, but as greedygirl said you can shave a few circuits off for a shorter workout.

Another BFBM in the bag for me today Smile. Still feels far from easy breezy, which is good, must still be doing me some good.

Off to have a closer look at the turbo workout - is that the one that's being released over here some time?

See you all tomorrow...
