The only thing I could think of to rhyme with 'six' for a catchy thread title was 'ketostix'. But as I don't advocate those, I was stuck!

By now, hopefully you're in the sway of things. Weight loss each week may be less spectacular, but should be reasonably consistent if you stick to the knitting Smile

You may also be finding that it's not happening for you consistently. It is an odd thing - and I have no idea if it's unique to low carbing - but it's not uncommon to go for a couple of weeks without losing, and then for the scales to suddenly drop. However, don't be downhearted and whatever you do, don't use this as an excuse to drop off the wagon!

It's also a very good reason why you should take your measurements as well as weighing, and a very good idea to keep a food/drink/snack diary, so make sure that you're not allowing carb creep.

So. Keep on keeping on. Remember the water, and don't forget to make sure you're keeping the fat levels up.

Here's to next week!

Very likely, Mme. Also, keep an eye on your fat - are you eating enough?

Thegoddessblossom · 23/05/2012 20:32

Ok well - have had I'd say a quarter of the shepherds pie with broccolli and am absolutely stufferoonied. Grin

Thegoddessblossom · 23/05/2012 20:32

Delish.

NotMostPeople · 23/05/2012 20:35

I wore a dress today in the sun. Normally I don't pluck up the courage to get my legs out until the end of summer.

BIWItheBold · 23/05/2012 20:55

I know, talk about eyes bigger than stomach. Dh had his predicted extra portion, and there's still enough for my breakfast tomorrow, which will make a nice change from yoghurt.

QueenStromba · 23/05/2012 21:11

Does anyone have any ideas about what to do with a load of salmon fat? I bought a kilo of salmon trimmings from Morrisons for 2 quid which included a fair few really fatty bits so when I made it into burgers and fried it there was a lot of oil left over. It seems like such a shame to chuck it away when it's so nutritious so I'm hoping someone has a suggestion of what to do with it.

skinmysunshine · 23/05/2012 21:19

So day 3 and have already buggered up. Picked up DS from friend's house and she offered me a glass of wine in the garden. Annoyed at myself now for not asking for water. Apart from that have tried so hard so doubly annoyed at myself.

Drunk 4 litres of water
B - salami, cheese
L - Coq au vin with mushroom and tomato sald (just had a couple of pieces of tom)
Snack - handful of brazil nuts
D - Salad of tuna, rocket, green beans, toms (1 between 2 of us), eggs, olives, avocado, capers and vinaigrette dressing

Food willpower is fine. Am also doing ok without the Diet Coke which I was/am seriously addicted to. But offered a glass of wine on a sunny day and I'm a total sucker.

skinmysunshine · 23/05/2012 21:21

Although just noticed your no nuts rule BIWI which is slightly different from P2T who do allow nuts as a snack.

MNP · 23/05/2012 21:47

Re salmon oil, use as a salad dressing QueenStromba

D:Aberdeen Angus braising steak cooked slowly in butter with spring onion, celery, mushroom and a little red pepper, delish.

Bought a dressed crab for tomorrow with salad.

Who knew toilets were so scarce in parts of London, did find one patisserie that let me use theirs as KFC et al are downstairs and have a pram (work baby). Really makes me hold back on drinking 30-45mins before I plan to go out.

NotMostPeople · 23/05/2012 21:49

Oh meant to say I've now got a real problem with my wedding and engagement rings being very loose, so much so that I was worried about loosing them in the pool today.

I had them made bigger last year.

slowlyburningcalories · 23/05/2012 21:52

help

Please. Please begging begging please

I am going to a wedding at the weekend, I have been reasonably careful since getting back from holiday, I have even drunk my water and avoided the cut price ice creams at work. I have had eggs for breakfast, and cheese stick and salami and salad from the shop for lunch with mackerel as a snack this evening before yoga. But I have ballooned and I cannot fit in the dress for the wedding ARGH

I have even cut down on coffee, just one in the morning and one cup of tea.

BIWItheBold · 23/05/2012 21:57

Oh dear - how about 2 days of ultra low carb? Los of water, just in case it's fluid retention, and only 'clean' protein - i.e. nothing processed

OP posts:
slowlyburningcalories · 23/05/2012 22:04

Ok, I will do that, might have a cheeky waitrose stop tomorrow and buy some salad and meats and their very LC prawn cocktail!

I had a handful of nuts last night come to think of it, and I had a small Greek yoghurt for mid morning snack yesterday. Maybe dairy is an issue? I was becoming quite slim the week ebefore holiday, and now back to bloated and uncomfortable, also have horrid heartburn but only has d shepherds pie and broccoli for tea. Odd.

MmeLindor. · 23/05/2012 22:18

Yes, was wondering if I am eating enough fat, BIWI.

I cook using butter, and am eating yummy full fat Hellmanns. Olive oil for dressings.

Not using so much cream these past few days, when I come to think about it.

Is there a difference between single and double cream?

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 23/05/2012 22:22

Double tastes nicer Grin

MmeLindor. · 23/05/2012 22:35

My mother makes this face when I break out the double Shock

You would think I had announced my intention to sell the DC on eBay.

BIWItheBold · 23/05/2012 22:37

Double has more fat. I don't do well with cream - which is why I do caution about dairy.

slowly - maybe dairy is an issue; try knocking it on the head for the next day or so and see if that makes it an issue

ohforfoxsake · 24/05/2012 07:34

Today I am wearing size 12 Jeans. The jeans I wanted to wear but have been too scared to try them on. Grin

Admittedly it's a Next size 12, I have a massive muffin top and they are snug at the waist but fuck it I'M A SIZE 12. GrinGrin

Thegoddessblossom · 24/05/2012 07:44

Well I am 9.6 this morning. My heaviest weight that I ever get to. Sad Very despondent. Not sure what I have been doing wrong. Might cut out the cream in coffee.

BIWItheBold · 24/05/2012 08:19

OFFS Grin. Fabulous!!! Go you!

the goddess - I hate to say it, but it's perhaps not surprising if you look at what you've been eating/drinking. Strict Bootcamp for a few days, perhaps?

OP posts:
Thegoddessblossom · 24/05/2012 08:24

Yes BIWI. [hangs head]

BIWItheBold · 24/05/2012 08:45

Quite tight too. Time I wielded my big stick ... Grin

But seriously. Alcohol, and snacks like pepperami, and so on will have an effect.

I think I need to c+p the rules every day or so. Keeping you lot under control is harder than like herding cats!

gothicmama - sorry to hear you have some health issues, but very glad to see you here! Hope all gets resolved for you asap.

My scales are clearly taunting me. Got on them this morning and was WTF to see that they were reading 9 stone 9. I knew that was impossible, so got off and then back on again - twice. The good news is that I have dropped again, but the bad news is that I'm certainly not 9.9! Now weighing in at 10.0 and 1/2 pound. Surely I will be in the 9s by next week?

OP posts:
smokinaces · 24/05/2012 08:58

It's sunny. My scales are moving down after being strict this week. If I get to 10st 8 on Monday, which is looking likely, I will hit not only my three stone total mark but my lowest weight since I was sixteen. And my bmi for the first time will be under 25 at 164cm tall.

And my chinos today are a size 10. Granted they are Asda, but the label says 10. Fricken love this woe.
