The only thing I could think of to rhyme with 'six' for a catchy thread title was 'ketostix'. But as I don't advocate those, I was stuck!

By now, hopefully you're in the sway of things. Weight loss each week may be less spectacular, but should be reasonably consistent if you stick to the knitting Smile

You may also be finding that it's not happening for you consistently. It is an odd thing - and I have no idea if it's unique to low carbing - but it's not uncommon to go for a couple of weeks without losing, and then for the scales to suddenly drop. However, don't be downhearted and whatever you do, don't use this as an excuse to drop off the wagon!

It's also a very good reason why you should take your measurements as well as weighing, and a very good idea to keep a food/drink/snack diary, so make sure that you're not allowing carb creep.

So. Keep on keeping on. Remember the water, and don't forget to make sure you're keeping the fat levels up.

Here's to next week!

hi all. Fell off the lc wagon big time over the weekend and am struggling a bit to get my self sorted out.

I am not going to confess to the birthday cake, glass of wine or bit of chocolate that I scoffed, but I am sort of back on track this week. And by next week I will be fine again.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 23/05/2012 16:54

oh should clarify, it was MY birthday at weekend and also DD and 20 other kids birthday party, so maybe I didnt do too badly considering the amount of stress involved. Grin

SharonGless · 23/05/2012 16:57

Got the coleslaw - will
Maybe share corn on cob

jan2011 · 23/05/2012 17:03

this is the worst that may happen if you eat the cake: www.marksdailyapple.com/what-happens-to-your-body-when-you-carb-binge/#axzz1vgRhEqb7

jan2011 · 23/05/2012 17:05

everyone, what do you do when someone invites you to their house for dinner?

SharonGless · 23/05/2012 17:05

tea I love that website too. Dreamy creamy spinach soup us amazing

moonshine · 23/05/2012 17:08

Ilivemyteddy - that is an inspiring loss - well done. I actually think the supermarkets have some really nice dresses in at the moment at pretty good prices, especially Asda and Tesco (I shop on-line). If you look carefully not all of it is polyester either! It's not investment dressing but may tide you over the summer months.

Can I also recommend this absolutely delicious chicken & mushroom in cream recipe I just adapted it slightly - I used olive oil and just stock (no wine) but it was a massive hit and very tasty.

Today I was tempted in a coffee shop to have one of the cold (sweet) concoctions but stuck to black coffee . But generally am finding this weather helps with choosing allowed food. Have so far had chillied squid and prawns and a greek salad. Oh and some pork scratchings!

teaandthorazine · 23/05/2012 17:26

Today's Plates Of Glory Grin:

B - protein shake, flax, vits, water, coconut oil
L - tuna with mayo, capers, olives and a weeny bit of chopped roasted red pepper, with lettuce and cucumber
D - rare steak (must be rare...) with roasted butternut squash and swede mash, green veggies, loadsa butter

Have drunk a couple of litres of water already, on course for at least 3 by the end of today. Think I may be getting addicted to coconut oil straight off the spoon Blush

Aldi is doing fab stuff for low-carbers atm - 'proper' sausages (1g carb each), 6 of them for £1.49! Plus, I got two lovely looking steaks, big fat ones for £8. I just wish they stocked the same amazing greek yog as Lidl (Lidl is further away!)

BettyBathroom · 23/05/2012 17:30

The ultimate challenge - homemade chocolate ice cream about to be churned, why can't I just buy ice cream like any normal person - I need help - this is going to be v hard!

teaandthorazine · 23/05/2012 17:32

Have just looked up pork scratchings on Tesco site - around 400 calories per bag. Love it!

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 23/05/2012 17:38

Tea I just bought those sausgaes too, was there a few hours ago! Sausgae casserole with swede mash tomorrow

SharonGless · 23/05/2012 17:45

Just catching up on thread
ilovemyteddy that is fantastic-well done you.

I wore a skirt yesterday and my thighs were rubbing together. My aim by end of the summer is to have slim thighs

moonshine · 23/05/2012 17:47

Tea - discovered packs of 5 pork scratchings at 111 cals per bag in Iceland today if you find 400 cals per packet scary.

And how does chocolate ice-cream figure in lc'ing?? Please tell me more!

teaandthorazine · 23/05/2012 17:56

Oh, I don't care about calories, moonshine Grin

mummyduff · 23/05/2012 17:57

jan2011 I had that over the weekend, I just ate what I could and left the potato s etc to one side.
I explained I was trying out something new, reducing my carb intake in the hope I would feel less bloated, they understood. However, than I drank way to much vino/bubbly so may as well have had the potato sBlush

teaandthorazine · 23/05/2012 18:07

Jan - within reason I would just eat what I was given, even if it was carb-heavy, and count the cost in the morning! I might hope for cheese and celery instead of pudding but I feel if someone's gone to the effort... It's not as if I can't eat carby stuff - I just choose not to so I wouldn't really expect anyone to cater for me, etc.

I have a friend who is completely obsessed by fat and calories (she's stick thin btw). She came round for dinner one night and I had slaved over pudding - she refused it, and not in a good way either. She did the same at another friend's house a few weeks later - and moaned about the number of calories she was being 'made' to eat. So if someone's kind enough to ask me to dinner, I eat the food they've cooked.

Of course, can't wait to get her round for a cheese-and-cream-laden low-carb meal Wink

smokinaces · 23/05/2012 18:15

My dinner is bloody gorgeous. Chicken and Bacon with avacado, salad leaves, olives and cucumber with mayo.

And I made enough for my lunch tomorrow. At another course so no doubt will be given sandwiches again - so taking my own salad again.

Thegoddessblossom · 23/05/2012 18:18

Pork Scratchings - snack of the gods. have just polished off a packet.

Have made Biwi's Celeriac Shepherd's Pie for tea - no way could I get 6 portions out of that though, DH and I will probably polish it off on our own, and I will be serving it with broccolli. Shock

BIWItheBold · 23/05/2012 18:47

What - two of you would polish off 500g of mic and a whole celeriac?! Shock

OP posts:
Thegoddessblossom · 23/05/2012 19:12

erm... yes! DH's portion would be larger than mine admittedly but.....yes! Ok there may be one portion left in the dish but I am sure DH would polish that off too....

500g of mince shrinks to nothing in the pan IMO. The whole meal has filled a not very big casserole dish.

What can I say - we are fairly slim people that eat like 20 tonners! Grin

PinotysaurusRex · 23/05/2012 19:20

BIWI my shrinking love-possum, I hear from a fellow wolef that you have some flaxmeal recipes on these diet threads. Could you point me in the right direction to them? I'm just dx as Coeliac and I'm getting my head very slowly around what I can and can't eat. Just discovered flaxmeal is a YES. How trés exciting.

Thanks e'so

BIWItheBold · 23/05/2012 19:50

I'm on the iPad ( my laptop has died -Sad) so can't do links - but search the slimming threads for one called boot camp recipes Pinot

Thanks lovely

Theeverexpandingrodders · 23/05/2012 20:07

Tonight I was bad and had a spoonful of sons cheesecake but only the one then realised it was way way too sweet so drinking water and eating chicken now

MmeLindor. · 23/05/2012 20:22

B: egg with salmon and mushrooms/spinach
L: rest of salmon with salad
D: BBQ - sausages, chicken and salad with coleslaw

The sausages weren't the ones recommended, as they don't stock them here. Will have to find a low carb alternative - am going to check out Aldi next week.

I haven't lost any weight since the weekend, so hoping that drinking more water will help. I do have my period though, so maybe it is due to that.
