So we have survived week one, more or less intact Grin

There has been a lot of cheating along the way - either intentional or accidental - but most people seem to be getting on with it and embracing low carbing. And we have seen some spectacular results already!

As one of the cheaters, I can tell you what you will already have discovered for yourself:

This way of eating (WOE) is an unforgiving one. If you slip up or cheat, it will show up on the scales

I know it's hard. I drank wine on both Friday and Saturday night. But it really is up to you how strict you choose to be - and therefore hopefully you will understand that it is up to you how much weight you are losing.

I realise this sounds patronising. But it's the ultimate truth of this (or any) diet.

Having said all that, I also know that there are some people who are struggling, and for whom weight loss has been very slow.

Just remember, if you have less weight to lose, then your rate of loss will be slower than those who have more to lose. And any loss, even if it's only a pound or so, is still a loss. Visualisation is always helpful for me if I think I've only lost a pound this week. Remember, a pound loss is like two packets of lard! That's a lot of fat.

And if weight loss is slow, or you're not seeing the scales move, have a long look at what you have been eating and drinking, and be really honest with yourself. Have you been following the rules? Have you been allowing carby things into your diet? Have you being drinking enough water? Try keeping a food diary so you can record everything (and I mean everything) that you're eating and drinking, as this can help you identify what might be affecting your progress.

If you still can't work out why it's happening (or not happening!), post what you've been eating and drinking here, and others might be able to help and advise you.

Anyway. Lecture over! Welcome to Week 2. Hopefully you will all see significant loss this week as well. But those of you who have lost loads in week 1 - don't expect to see the same kind of loss in this week - it's inevitable that it will slow down. Remember that sustainable, long term weight loss is around 1-2lbs per week.

And those of you who are struggling, hopefully another strict week will get things going for you! And I also hope that everyone has got through their carb withdrawals by now, and you are all feeling fantastic!

Onwards and downwards ... Grin

I only started low carbing today and I am evangelical. I've been tutting loudly at the conents of my fridge. Shock

Breakfast - nothing (I didn't know that wasn't allowed)
Lunch - fillet steak with a green peppercorn sauce (made with butter and a dollop of cream), watercress and purple sprouting broc.
Dinner - I need to go shopping.

Twit · 26/04/2012 14:33

I can sympathise Shirl gang. I haven't cheated and no loss this time. I hate weighing myself anyway, never normally do it just go by how I feel and look. I won't be weighing myself again until Monday and then perhaps every now and then (sorry if it messes up your spreadsheet Getorf.
I am definitely eating enough of the veg, and drinking enough water as I have previous with the old bungage - usually controlled by diet including fruit and in particular raisins etc.
I am still weak and snappy, and whilst this is mostly BabyTwit's fault it is also BIWI's.
After completing the bootcamp WITHOUT CHEATING Grin I might go on my own version of Bootcamp lite, if following along with you all is still not quite right. Perhaps yoghurt with berries and raisins (I know I know) for breakfast.

Good things have happened though. I don't need to eat to stay awake ( well I do but I have learnt not to) and I do not miss sweet stuff or stodgy stuff. I am pleased that I am definitely getting enough water and don't need sugar in my tea (or even tea itself. I will still follow the low carb diet even if slow and steady is more for me than weight dropping off.

ShirtyKnot · 26/04/2012 14:34

Thank you all, you lovely bunch of losers.

I've hidden the weight thread, and I'm eating some macadamia nuts, and craving cigarettes - the fag cravings have been terrible since I started LC, that's a bit mad isn't it?

I don't want to keep bringing everyone down. I'm embarrassed at myself - both for not losing, and for getting into a state about it, and seeming "attention seeky". I'm actually hot-cheeked as we speak.

You are all lovely though. ThanksThanks

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 26/04/2012 14:36

Don't be embarrassed at yourself - bloody hell. You have nothing to feel bad about. I understand totally why you feel so down in the dumps.

ShirtyKnot · 26/04/2012 14:40

Oh! stop being so nice, I shall cry!

Now call me a cunt, and let's say no more about it. Grin

teaandthorazine · 26/04/2012 14:40

LittleFrieda - just wait until you start tutting at the contents of other people's shopping trolleys Grin

Shirty - hang on in there. I'm sure everyone's said this already but it's a Way Of Eating, not a diet. Ignore the weighing thread and just keep on with the lovely food, don't leave.

teaandthorazine · 26/04/2012 14:41

Oh sorry, x-posts.

You're a cunt.

Grin
Twit · 26/04/2012 14:44

Attention seeking? No, not at all I think that's what this thread is for, telling us how it's going when you feel like it, good or bad. Are you staying on the chat thread? Do your clothes feel a bit better? My stomach feels a bit less bloated (well it did before the bungage Blush ) which is what I was hoping for as well as being a bit slimmer

Twit · 26/04/2012 14:45

oops another X post you cunt. HTH Grin

ShirtyKnot · 26/04/2012 14:47
Grin

I'm imagining all the thread queuing up behind one another to call me a cunt - like on

teaandthorazine · 26/04/2012 14:48

For anyone with bungage, may I recommend this?

It really is the shit Grin

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 26/04/2012 14:48

Cunt!

ShirtyKnot · 26/04/2012 14:50

x posted with twit now.

I'm taking my measurements again tomorrow - maybe that'll show a change. Clothes don't seem any different really. Confused. It's a bit of a mystery. PERI MENOPAUSE. It better bloody not be

encyclogirl · 26/04/2012 15:11

vnmum I know, and I love porridge so I was completely determined to build it into my diet. I'm over it now though. Porridge definitely sabotaged me.

Marabou · 26/04/2012 15:18

Hello all!

Can I join you pretty please??

I made an appearance on one of the LC threads on here earlier, but then fell of the wagon big time and didn't re-appear Blush.. Now I've been really good and in ketosis for 1.5 weeks and feeling positive!

I've been reading the thread and getting excited about everyone's successes. I'm down about 2kgs so far and have another 15kgs to go at least.. I'm doing Atkins for now and trying to stick to 20gr/carbs/day, but I allow myself some nuts and berries within the allowance, so not really following the induction rules. I'm still BFing DS, who's nearly 1, so was sceptical at first with going into ketosis, but I haven't been feeling unenergetic, quite the contrary actually.. Today' meals are:

BF: 2 bacon rashers and3 hard boiled eggs
L: tuna/feta/green olive salad with olive oil
S: 4 hazel nuts + 2 tbl spoons of total yoghurt (pretty random I know..)
D: will probably be a casserole with minced beef/pork, cauliflower, broccoli, readymade Homepride pasta sauce tomato-herb, has about 8gr carbs/100gr

ledkr · 26/04/2012 15:20

shirl see you on the drunk thread tomorrow Grin Oh and you are indeed a cunty bollox.

Marabou · 26/04/2012 15:20

Wuups, that one left too early, stupid phone!

Anyway, was going to say, grated cheese on top of the casserole Smile.. Oh, and I had a large cup of coffee with splenda and double cream just now..

Wellwellwell, have a good day everyone!

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 26/04/2012 15:42

Shock at being blamed for Twit's moodiness!

All those of you who haven't lost much/aren't losing - chin up. Next week, assuming everyone stays with us, will be a challenging week for those who have seen big losses. Many of them will find that their weight loss comes to a grinding halt - and some of them (depending how 'relaxed' they are with Bootcamp Light) will also find that they put weight back on.

Their reaction to this will be very telling.

It represents the reality of this (or any other diet), in that this is not a quick fix. It is a long haul. There aren't many people doing this who only have a few pounds to lose, I don't think. Most of us are looking to shift a signifcant amount of weight. And weight may go on quickly, but it's slow to shift. That's one of the most depressing things that we all have to accept. So the critical thing is to get good habits in place asap.

All those who have seen big losses despite cheating will actually find this the hardest to accept and deal with. Whereas those who have been good, not cheated (that much) but struggled to lose any weight, will actually find that eating this way is becoming much more instinctive, and easier. The carb withdrawal phase should be a thing of the past, and we should be feeling more energetic/energised.

Feeling well, sleeping well and having lots of energy, as well as being able to eat well and eat lovely food - what's not to like?!

Wise words BIWI

Creamtea1 · 26/04/2012 15:50

Agreed Biwi - we are playing the long game, it's not a quick fix. And if you are losing 1-2 lb a week that is Sustainable - less likely to come back on.

londonlottie · 26/04/2012 15:50

Quite pleased with myself a) because for the first time in about twenty years I've had my hair lopped off and actually quite like it :) and b) whilst on this jaunt in town I resisted the urge to eat anything bad. Ended up in a branch of Wasabi and ordered a spicy chicken curry without the rice - he stacked up the curry instead and for £4.95 I had a really satisfying lunch! Hate trying to eat low-carb in places like Pret, you can spend £10 and still leave hungry.

Thanks for all the motivating chat BIWI. I am finding it really helpful. Thanks

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 26/04/2012 15:54

My pleasure!

Re food - I've just been out for lunch with my business partner, who is recuperating from an op. Lunch choices were absolutely spot on for low carbing - all I had to do was to ask for my main course without potatoes:

starter - celeriac and black olive salad, with Pecorino and shallot vinaigrette
main - roast cod with purple sprouting broccoli, herb sauce and spinach (instead of potatoes)

I didn't have to worry about calories.
I didn't have to wonder if it was low fat.
I didn't have to try and work out how many points it had.

etc, etc, etc,

right - I avoided the sweets despite desperate need

and DH has told me to go to Waitrose to get something nice for tea and beer for him

what do I get! Something amazingly scoffably nice needed!
