The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

Telling their teachers works here too. I don't actually do it but the threat seems to be enough.

What happens if they trash their room? Who puts it back together again?

Do you know whose sock it is? If mine refused to pick it up I would eventually end up giving them only one sock to wear and then tell them if they wanted 2 they should have picked up the other one. If it came to it I would be prepared to send them to school with only one sock which they would hate but I bet they wouldn't refuse to pick up bits of their uniform again.

Are they are getting enough sleep? We are all a lot more reasonable on a decent amount of sleep and when I used to watch Super Nanny I was constantly amazed at how much difference a good nights sleep made.

On a completely different note, I have a smear test this afternoon. That's always something to look forward to. Hmm I doesn't bother me particularly, I've had 2 babies so this is minor league compared to the attention my nether regions got when they were born but I can think of nicer things to do on a Tuesday afternoon!

JustFabulous · 26/06/2012 12:46

They have to sort their rooms but I have been known to do it in the past and if anything is smashed and they have left it, I will pick it up for safetys sake as I have a cat who goes everywhere.

The sock is the 7 year olds. I expect he will shout at me that it isn't his but will bring it in.

DS2 goes to bed at 7 but dd and ds1 disturb him Angry. DD has trouble getting to sleep and we leave ds1 to put his light out when he wants, but I am not honestly sure how much sleep he should have at 11. He used to sleep more than he was awake when he was younger.

Bummer about the smear but it is a vital thing to do. Make sure you feel fresh and wear a long top and skirt you can bring up so you don't feel too exposed, though the nurse usually cover you anyway ime.

JustFabulous · 26/06/2012 14:22

Just done another 25 minutes on the rowing machine. Hoping it will have some affect eventually.

JustFabulous · 26/06/2012 18:30

Off to see nurse for my blood results and health check. Wish me luck..

HaveALittleFaith · 26/06/2012 18:37

Good luck!

JustFabulous · 26/06/2012 19:19

I am back. Nearly cried, may have got a little tantrummy Blush.

HaveALittleFaith · 26/06/2012 19:25

Oh dear - what happened?

JustFabulous · 26/06/2012 19:28

CHolestral fine.

Rolled her eyes when I said being on my meds put the weight on.

Said diets were basically crap.

Told me not to eat dinner at 7. Told her I would be starving at 8 if I atre at 5. Said not eating at the right time/right foods. Said only weight watchers worked.

My point is, nothing I do works, I don't lose any weight.

She dismissed me.

ppeatfruit · 26/06/2012 19:43

Oh dear Fab haven't you lost at all with P.M.? That's silly for the H.W. to say 'don't eat dinner at 7' I always do and still loose. Hi everyone BTW Grin!

FartBlossom · 26/06/2012 19:49

Sorry to hear about the nurse fab she doesn't sound very professional to me.

My appetite is back now so Im having to remember to stop eating at the right time. On the plus side my exercise levels have gone way up. I started out 11 weeks ago doing the couch to 5K plan and today I ran 30 mins non-stop for the first time then I had to walk another 30 mins to get home and then I had to take the dog out so that was another 40 mins there all at once.

Going to have a bath now and listen to PM as Im drying off then an early night catching up with the stuff Ive plussed upstairs while DH watches his crap programs - bliss also keeps me away from the goodies in the kitchen

JustFabulous · 26/06/2012 19:58

Not anything at all.

I couldn't listen last night to my CD as I couldn't cope with the headphone wires touching my neck been strangled before so.... Does anyone know if there are wirefree ones?

HaveALittleFaith · 26/06/2012 20:33

There are definitely wire free ones - all the cool kids wear them! Grin yikes at being strangled in the past :(

FB that's brilliant! Good effort! I might go for a short run tomorrow if I'm up to it. What with AF and food shopping tonight I was too tired!

JustFabulous · 26/06/2012 20:39

I will google some, thank you HALF.

HaveALittleFaith · 26/06/2012 21:11

Yes I knew they existed see here

JustFabulous · 26/06/2012 21:21

That is great, HALF, thank you. I will get DH on the case.

HaveALittleFaith · 26/06/2012 21:30

No problemo!

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 26/06/2012 22:28

Fab, iye I use Pillow-phonic speakers. They're in a pad which goes under your pillow, so you don't need anything in your ears or near your head.
I got them from Amazon - there were a few different types but these got the best reviews as they're stereo.
And DH def can't hear anything!

HaveALittleFaith · 26/06/2012 22:29

Ooh I need to get new pillows ongoing insurance claim and we looked at them. Are they good then? Are they comfy pillows?!

HaveALittleFaith · 26/06/2012 22:30

oh I see it goes under the pillow rather than being a pillow with a speaker...

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 26/06/2012 23:24

Think there are some actual pillows with speakers, but afair they didn't get very good reviews. Might be worth a try, though - you can usually return things to Amazon quite easily.

BigBoobiedBertha · 27/06/2012 00:29

Sorry to hear about the nurse Fab. she is a fool.Sad

So do those pillow speaker things work then? Surely you lose the effect of the special hypnosis business if you don't have the headphones on and only listen with one ear? All the subliminal mind-altering stuff would be different, no? Or can you lie on your back and get it but then is it not like trying to listen on a CD player without headphones which aren't recommended either. Or so I thought.

Now you mention insurance claims, I didn't tell you about our drama. DH was driving home from choir practice from another town last Thursday night and hit a deer. The front of his car seemed pretty damaged and we think the deer was killed outright.Sad

DH found out today that it is possibly an insurance write off. It is a bit borderline and the insurance company are going to consider what to do. Unfortunately, DH has had it from new, on a lease first off and now owned and we can't afford to take out another lease again at the moment. If it is written off the money we would get would not buy a replacement car of the same spec with the same low mileage and that is even if we could find one with is unlikely as it seems to be quite rare. So booking a holiday is on hold until we know whether we are going to have to find the money for a new car. Of course the insurance company might decide to pay for it to be repaired but then we have a car which has had to have its front rebuilt and it won't be the same again. I know, I did it myself once.

On the plus side, DH googled to see if the amount of damage he had was common and got loads of reports of people being killed and cars being completely mangled so to write a car off without being hurt has got to be something to be thankful for.

Oh and to cap it all, he doesn't know the town where he went for choir practice very well and so used the sat nav to find his way to the venue. Stupid thing (who me and the DSs call Unreliable Ursula with good reason) took him down a bus lane and twice DH got zapped by a camera. The first fixed penalty notice arrived in the post last week and another one arrived today. Thank goodness they did the concert at the weekend and he won't have to go that way again because it has been bloody expensive all told!!

JustFabulous · 27/06/2012 07:06

Just a quickie as I am doing my shopping list. The lovely kind nurse Wink gave me a dietary advice sheet sponsored by Flora and it is such small writing and so looooooong I am wondering whether to just buy Weight Watchers food as that is the only thing that works..

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/06/2012 07:17

Bloody hell BBB what a nightmare SadSad

AF is gone and I'm feeling lots better. Have got back into the stupid habit of cake and or biscuits in the afternoon when I'm not even hungry though which is sabotaging my good work at other times!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/06/2012 07:18

Oh fab don't. You need real food. Low fat does not work.

JustFabulous · 27/06/2012 07:29

DH had bought me Special K but the kids have eaten half the bag in one sitting. I have just had 2 Weetabix and milk. I just find I am hungry all the time so if I try and eat smaller portions I am hungry even more.
