The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Thought I'd have a celebratory name change.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 02/06/2012 19:20

Such long-termers here! 25 years for us this September. I've been a bit quiet here lately but still listening to the trance - although I use it last thing at night and fall straight to sleep. I do think it has an effect, though.

I've been loitering on Shirley Knot's EatMoreLoseWeight thread - it seems to sit quite well with the PM thing as it's not about starving yourself or following a 'diet.'
I'm also trying to avoid the scales but so far have only reduced my visits to once a day instead of the usual two or three times!

ASolitaryDiamondReigns60Years · 02/06/2012 19:23

Not me Shotgun I saw sense and got out at 6 years...was a nasty man.

HaveALufflyJubileeMaam · 02/06/2012 20:03

Hello, Tia I, Faith. Since we're sharing, DH and I have been married for 3 years, been together for 5 :)
Diamond sounds like you're happier now! :)
I think I'm doing ok, enjoying eating what I fancy and don't think I'm overeating. I've noticed the slimming of the chin too ppeat.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 02/06/2012 20:36

I'm intrigued by Ppeat's acupresssure. Any links or book recommendations?

ASolitaryDiamondReigns60Years · 02/06/2012 20:51

Happier not being with him, but what he put me through has taken a massive toll on my life.

suzi2 · 02/06/2012 21:15

Haven't been on in a few days so just catching up. Did my 2 week weigh in and I've lost a good 5/6 pounds :D. Although I know a fair bit of that is water retention and it won't keep coming off at that rate. Still very pleased though.

For me, a big part of this 'diet' is to get rid of the stress surrounding food. So when I'm starting to think "which has less calories?", "maybe I can hold off another hour but I'm starving" etc then I know I'm going wrong. I know that to be successful I need to change long term and that's just about tuning into my body. So I'm trying to follow the rules, especially regarding "eat what you want" and I'm hoping that in the long term I make better choices without silly thoughts about being deprived or on a diet.

I'm still eating all the same junk as before, just less of it, less often. I'm also trying VERY hard not to put kids leftovers down my throat without even noticing!

ppeatfruit · 03/06/2012 08:43

HAPPY JUBILEE EVERYONE!! [SMILE] (Where are the jubilee smileys Mumsnet?) I'm not a rabid royalist but like the excuse for a party Smile.
solosolitarydiamond How are you??
Shotgun the book on acupressure is The Complete System of Self Healing Internal Exercises by Dr. Stephen Chang I got it 2nd hand on Amazon. It is a bit weird but the exercises are amazing I pick and choose the ones i find relevant to me and yr body gets more attuned to them the more you do them, good for sinus, thyroid problems etc. I've recently been doing the kidney ones (they're dead easy as well BTW) and my eyes have darkened; got bluer and the whites whiter !!!! Even DH noticed!! Oh and the scalp ones literally stop yr hair falling out Shock.

BigBoobiedBertha · 03/06/2012 09:19

Yes Happy Jubilee!!

I'm off to stand on a bridge in the rain and watch the boats go passed. We have freebie tickets. Getting there should be fun though. DH had an op for an ingrowing toenail on Friday so we don't even know if he can get a decent shoe on. Plus it is raining and not planning to stop any time soon and the whole world and his wife are going in the same direction as us and it could be hellish.

Still, we have never been to this sort of thing before and hopefully it will be something the boys remember for life. Lets hope it is in a good way and I don't take over the mantle of organizing 'one of mother's outings' from my MIL who goes down in family folklore for organizing historic yet educational trips that fail spectacularly.

Have a good day and don't overdose on party food and cupcakes. [smiles]

HaveALufflyJubileeMaam · 03/06/2012 09:47

suzi I've been the same. Having either been on diet or cheating on a diet for about half my life, breaking the diet habits was tough. Thoughts like feeling starvation pangs means you'll lose weight or I can't have that it's full of calories don't just leave! Sounds like you're getting the hang of it though!

Happy jubilee everyone!

I'm off to a bond rally - my family owns an old Bond Mini car and they have an owners club. Everyone brings their cars and they race etc. should be fun! Have a luffly day all.

ppeatfruit · 03/06/2012 09:49

Tell us how it goes, you're brave BB Enjoy!Crown!

ASolitaryDiamondReigns60Years · 03/06/2012 11:01

Happy Jubilee indeed!!! I just wish I was going to see something :( I live not far from Greenwich...but I just can't seem to face much atm.

Thanks for recognising me pp :) I do wish I had the same print of Chang's book, then I could ask you which page etc, because I'm lazy knackered.

ppeatfruit · 03/06/2012 13:15

Is there a street party near yours Solo? think of us in Fr. there's a Brits "Do" a long way up the road from us but you have to book it and we were away when there spaces and we're not too keen to go to an expats gathering TBH. But I'm going to sit in front of the telly in an hour and enjoy the flottilla without getting wet\ trodden on, looking through someones head etc.! I can imagine that driving would be impossible anywhere in London today!! You could maybe go by bus or train?

TartyMcFarty · 03/06/2012 16:15

Has anyone tried Pauling while pregnant? I've made a couple of dismal.attempts in the past, but thought now might be a good time, given that it's not a diet an' all, to try to change my mindset about eating. Hopefully it might limit the damage post-pregnancy, and is something I can keep up whilst BFing.

Does that sound sensible?

HaveALufflyJubileeMaam · 03/06/2012 17:54

I'm doing it will ttc with the vision that I should be able to apply it if when I get pregnant and to lose extra extra baby weight. I can't see why you can't. You shouldn't really be aiming to radically cut calories when pregnant but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy your food, not over-eat and prevent massive weight gain by applying the rules!

FartBlossom · 03/06/2012 18:31

Im still around, but as my book and CD has not arrived so not Pauling properly yet, but I have been thinking about what I am eating more. Ive not lost any weight, but Ive not put any on either so I suppose if I can maintain until I can start properly, thats a good thing. I have also headed for a drink if I feel Im getting hungry and its not a meal time which seems to suffice me for a bit.

For all 3 of my pregnancies I didnt eat anywhere near as much as I have done while not pregnant. Once I got to a certain stage I just couldnt eat it as I was full. Looking back I didnt try to do the PMK WOE on purpose, but I think I did a bit. I have never put on weight while having babies (well I have, but only the acutal baby/placenta itself) and I put that down to having another human squashing my stomach so it couldn't hold as much food. I ate a lot less with all my pregnancies. If I wasn't full I just couldn't face food. Perhaps you might be lucky and have the same thing happen. Just a shame that once the baby is born I start to put on weight.

TartyMcFarty · 03/06/2012 18:45

Unfortunately I put on 2 1/2 st the first time round, conceived dc2 a stone heavier than my pre-baby weight, and have gained another stone at 18 weeks! I'm one of those people who just grazes regardless, which is why I need to change my habits, not necessarily diet.

ppeatfruit · 03/06/2012 19:32

I would say as it's the 'correct' way to eat it must be right to eat while pregnant and ttc especially if you eat healthily. IMO PMK gets it wrong with the 'eat what you want' rule 'cos the junk food that is everywhere is deliberately full of wheat, high sugar, additives and salt that are addictive.

nectarina · 04/06/2012 22:09

Hello there, may I join the club? I've always been on the heavy side of things, but things have got crazy since I managed to stop bfing my dd to sleep. At one point she was feeding at least 10 times a night and I managed to get back to my (albeit still on the heavy side) pre-pregnancy weight. DD started sleeping well and I put on 3 kilos in a month.
I'm feeling so positive about this as I tend to scoff and shovel in food in the least lady-like fashion ever, and I would love to learn to be able to make a batch of cakes and eat one on a plate sitting down with a cup of coffee, instead of the usual standing up in the kitchen 'just one more'ing until most have gone.
I think the thing I'll find hard however is not eating everything on my plate. I know that I'm exactly the sort of person who needs to learn to leave something but its so ingrained in me that its rude. At home I don't see it as an issue, but eating round at friends...how does this work with all of you?

And how do I work out an achievable goal?

ASolitaryDiamondReigns60Years · 05/06/2012 01:37

Just get stuck in nectarina :) Welcome! it's gone a bit quiet atm, but generally, this is a fast thread.

You only need to leave a single mouthful on your plate...Have you got the discs and book? highly recommended.

You'll get lots of encouragement here, just keep posting. and listening to your body; follow the golden rules.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 05/06/2012 09:39

Hi nectarina, I think you have brilliant aims - being able to eat just one of something! Definitely get the book and cd and like our diamond says, get stuck in!

I'm still feeling positive about the eating. Not sure if I've lost - avoiding the scales - but feel better in myself. Not been over-eating, not been stuffed at least! Pain is a lot better but has been restricting my exercise. Plenty of cardio moving home and cleaning though! Yes 6 months to the day after our home caught fire, we moved home yesterday Grin
