The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Hi again everyone. I am not that good at keeping up with this thread.

I didnt realise that some of you are abroad. We are moving to the other side of the world in just 9 weeks time. Very excited!! Grin But loads to do!!!

Not had a terribly good day today as I was interviewing for people to take over one of my jobs and we all ended up snacking between interviews, then not really eating properly at all. TOmorrow is another day and all that!!!

tb · 14/05/2012 20:50

ppeat he is a good gp, though, just a little unorthodox by uk standards. It would seem, that here, it's normal for gp's to wear jeans rather than a suit. He does have the obligatory reading glasses on a chain around his neck though, and 2 years ago he married his mistress. This latter event was a source of much amusement as both his first wife - a district nurse in the village - and his mistress had the same name. Saves mistakes, I suppose.

Until recently, our regional daily newspaper used to publish the whereabouts of all mobile police patrols - the times of the day, the roads, and the direction, so that you'd know which side of the road they'd be on. Therefore, if you were over the limit, had bald tyres, and passed a control point, it was well and truly your fault.

MardyBra · 14/05/2012 20:57

How exciting Positive! It appears that the Paulettes are quite an international bunch with our French contingent too.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/05/2012 21:02

PA - was it you who was looking to do missionary work?

Faith - yay for being back at work! :)

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 14/05/2012 21:16

Wow moving across the world? Envy, moi?!
Thanks Ali, yes it's been a long 8 weeks! Very strange being back. Being ill has given me chance to re-evaluate lots of things. I'm not happy at work, I've started looking at my options but have realised if I want my life to change, only I can do something about it! Part of my problem is my attitude too Hmm I'm toying with getting another Paul book but I'm torn between 'I can make you hsppy' and 'I can change your life in 30 days'...

PositiveAttitude · 15/05/2012 09:01

Yes, Ali we are off to Cambodia!! Grin

JustFab · 15/05/2012 10:39

Morning all! Smile

I weighed myself as it was my usual day to weigh myself when I was doing it weekly and I thought my period has finished. Now weight loss but no gain either. I am thinking do I wait a month now before I weigh myself again or is that too long in case I am getting heavier?

BigBoobiedBertha · 15/05/2012 13:25

Faith - glad you are getting back to normal. What a haul it has been! Hope you have at least a few months of calm and good health.

PositiveAttitude - How exciting! I remember you talking about it a while ago. I bet you will be guaranteed to lose weight out there! Smile

Fab - Should you leave it a month to weigh? Depends on whether you can feel the change in your clothes. I bearly notice the difference in clothes after a stone, on or off, so I wouldn't leave it that long just in case you are putting it on but I know some people swear by the looser clothes test. I also find it motivational to weigh once a week or a fortnight and know that if I think it is bad news I tend to hide from the scales which isn't good because it could be too late to avoid damage but we are all different. Why not stick to the PMcK minimum gap of 2 weeks for now and take it from there.

It is like living in the middle of piccadilly circus here today. One neighbour is having a shed up up and the workmen have parked a car and a trailer in front of one half of our drive. The other neighbour is having their soffits and fascias done and the scaffolding people are currently sticking out so far from their drive that I can't get my car onto the other half of our drive. Added to that the footpath to the school which runs along the bottom of our back garden is being resurfaced so the main road is blocked by 2 large lorries and they have all sorts of noisy stuff going on. I am dreading school pick up - as it stands if I get DS1 I won't be able to park up within walking distance of my house in time to get DS2 from the school next door.

The noise is doing my head in. And I have just accompanied a group of yr 5's swimming and the racket the made on the bus (although not as bad as last week) is just horrendous! Reading with Yr 3 this afternoon too.

No chance of consciously eating my lunch at the moment. My head is buzzing too much.

Stop the world, I want to get off!

CalamityKate · 15/05/2012 14:09

Oh I'm CONFUSED Hmm

Seemed to stick at around 11st 4lb for aaaaaaaages, and thought I was Pauling pretty well.

Then had a couple of weeks where I sort of fell off the wagon - not gorging, but just eating a fair bit more than I would have been if I was Pauling.

Had a terrible weekend - out for a carvery meal, eating LOADS of chocolate cake/muffins etc (DS' birthday).

Just got on the scales. 11st 3lb.

Which is great, but how the hell??

Does this mean that the weekend food hasn't "kicked in" yet, and in a couple of days I'm going to be heavier?

JustFab · 15/05/2012 14:44

Afternoon FAB SmileWink

Just had home made squash, bacon and Swiss cheese soup with a couple of mini rosemary focaccia rolls and as I was eating I listened to my stomach, remembering how horrible it feels when you have eaten too much, and I realised I was satisfied and stopped eating. ShockShock

JustFab · 15/05/2012 14:46

Blush No one had replied when I posted my afternoon FAB post and then I clicked refresh and here it is BlushGrin.

I can't really go by my clothes as they are all different sizes and all fit differently.

BigBoobiedBertha · 15/05/2012 15:42

Calamity - you need an extra 3500 calories to put on a lb of weight so a couple of extra muffins and a bigger portion of Sunday lunch would be unlikely to amount to that. Or maybe up until the weekend you might have lost 2lb and you put a bit of that back on.

Either way a lb is a lb! Congratulations! Smile

Fab - you are winning! Go Fab!!! Grin

tb · 15/05/2012 16:56

Fab well done

I was talking to dh a while ago and saying I felt a bit peckish. He suggest toasted bun. As the thought didn't hit the spot, I felt able to say no. Can't think what I do want, though. Sad

JustFab · 15/05/2012 17:00

I love Go Fab Grin!!! Grin

tb - good you said no, though. I felt peckish so have just had a small piece of brie.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/05/2012 18:19

Tb - I generally assume that if I can't think of what I want, then I'm actually not hungry and a cuppa will do.

I have just had a sliver of leftover quiche with one of the warm jersey royals I have cooked for the boys. Yum yum yum Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/05/2012 18:23

Like Go Cat, but different Grin

JustFab · 16/05/2012 10:39

Where is everyone?!

I wanted to share a massively small achievement .

tb · 16/05/2012 13:31

Hi Fab, what've you been up to?

tb · 16/05/2012 13:36

Have just been mugged by dd for ?6. It's a bank holiday tomorrow, so she has come home from college, and brought a friend to stay the night - we did know and had said yes. Friday is the pont - also a day off school to make a long weekend. Then, a week on Monday, it's Whit - another day off - there have been loads this month.

Made a choc/caramel tart - a Dan Lepard recipe. Not sure it works, a bit too sweet, and too 'claggy'. The filling is choc, flour, malted milk powder - that's why I wanted the Maltesers, eggs etc. The caramel bit is the egg white left over from the pastry, dulche de lait and fromage frais. Rather a strange mixture. Think I'll look for a French recipe.

Have discovered a rather nice new dessert - a teaspoonful of confiture de lait/dulche de lait dropped on to the top of natural yoghurt. Also, if I brew up the caramel in the simmering oven, I don't have to taste it all the time while it's cooking - as long as I take it out before 1am Grin

JustFab · 16/05/2012 13:42

Hi tb Smile.

Last night I was bored and low. I had done the food shopping and bought one double decker as a treat. I wanted it to cheer myself up but I said "chocolate will not cheer me up, it is fuel that is all." And I didn't have it Shock. It might not sound much but it is massive for me.

I make a chocolate tart sometimes for the kids and they love it. DS1 loves it so much he had it instead of a birthday cake. Really easy to make as well if you want the recipe.

tb · 16/05/2012 13:56

Well done! Thanks and Wine

It's really good when something like that happens. I've found in the past that the thought of having done well really throws me, and in a sort of reaction, I find myself eating more than I would have done before. Don't know if that makes sense, or not. I seem to have managed not to do that with listening to the cd - just hope it lasts.

Yes please, I'd like the recipe. The one I've made is a bit of a let down - especially given my epic efforts to get maltesers to use instead of malted milk powder. The top is a bit chewy, but the flavour of the caramel doesn't really come through.

DH has taken Emma and her friend to a friend's house in the next village, and has gone to pick up a sausage order from about 10 miles away. There's a little English shop, and the butcher who was featured in the Little England series late last year about Brits going to the Dordogne (even though he's in the Limousin) makes Cumberland and similar sausage for them. You can buy from the farm, too, but the village with the shop is nearer.

I'm off to the library now - I've had 4 books out for about 3 months, and got a letter from the mairie to ask me to take them back Blush it's open weds pm and sat am, just haven't been arsed to go.

Then we've had a letter from a firm of engineers about doing some work to our electricity supply to put it underground before it enters the house. There are 5 copies, and we have to sign each one. I just feel it would be better to check with the man at the mairie who is the contact for electricity before we sign that their diagram is as they understand the work to be done - fortunately it isn't going to cost us anything. If it is, no-one's told us! Our voltage has been outside the regulation from edf - and 2 years ago we had to repair our heat pump. Each annual service the engineer has said that the voltage is too low and that he couldn't guarantee the work. About a month ago, it stopped working altogether. Grrrrr. Wish we'd spent the ?9k on oil for the boiler - which would have kept us warm for about 15 years given the rate we use it.

Hope everyone else is doing well today.

JustFab · 16/05/2012 13:58

Hang on while I get the book.

JustFab · 16/05/2012 14:06

No-cook chocolate tart.

Prep time - 5 minutes.
Serves - 16 to 20.

250g (9oz) dark chocolate, around 60-70% cocoa solids.
2 x 450g tins reduced-fat condensed milk.
1 tsp vanilla extract.
1 x Marks & Spencer All Butter Pastry Case.
150g (5oz) raspberries (optional).
150g (5oz) blueberries (optional).

  1. Break the chocolate into small pieces and place in a bowl. Put the condensed milk into a saucepan and heat until bowling, stirring constantly.
  1. Boil the mixture for 3 minutes then pour on to the chocolate and stir until smooth. Add the vanilla extract. Pour into the pastry case and chill in the fridge for several hours or overnight.
  1. Scatter the berries over the top and serve.

Per serving: 269-215 cals, 8-6g fat, 4-3g saturated fat, 3-2g carbohydrate.

tb · 16/05/2012 14:50

Thanks for the recipe. Sounds yum! What's a calorie?

It's finally getting warmer - saw a little lizard on the way home!

Really cross with myself, I'd missed one book, and it's the one that someone has reserved, hence the letter. Drat!
