Hello tb & justfab!! You aren't alone don't worry Grin I'm still lurking. I haven't really been following pm very well the last few weeks eating-wise but am still keeping on with my running so am managing to maintain my weight at the moment. But breaking news just in - had yummy lunch from m&s today and found myself LEAVING SOME OF THE CARROT CAKE!!!! so although am not 100% pm-ing my eating is definitely improving AND I have been craving and eating FRUIT the last few days!! Keep up the good work ladies - love to all xx Smile

Thanks for the recipe Fab. Sounds yum. I will try it tomorrow! Wink

I have been a bit rubbish here, but have surprisingly did have an apple for lunch instead of anything chocolatey or sweet, just because that was what I fancied.

Whoever said that I should lose weight in Cambodia - I really hope so! A bit of a drastic move just to lose weight, but I am hoping that is a nice side-affect. I do tend to eat less when I am really hot and being near the equator, I might be on to a winner! Wink I need to come back after a year all thin and tanned and looking amazing as DD3 is getting married.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/05/2012 17:06

Hello hello! I'm here too. Small blip in the form of 10 jaffa cakes this afternoon, dear god I just couldn't stop myself!!

I will wait and eat dinner with DH though, I'll be hungry a least a little by then and then start again tomorrow.

I am wearing a new top today, it is a lovely breton tunic which is fitted rather than floaty, and I'm wearing it with skinny jeans and loafers. I would never in a million years have thought I could pull off an outfit like that, something that actually shows off my shape rather than hiding it.
I caught a glimpse of myself in a shop window and didn't realise it was me initially - I just look like a normal mum with a buggy rather than a big fat mum with a buggy Grin

arfur - well done on leaving the cake. The scone I had in the john lewis cafe this morning all found it's way into my tim Grin

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 16/05/2012 20:29

Hi another one checking in. Didn't realise twice daily weighing was a Bad Thing but I'm pleased to report I've lost 3lbs since starting - about 10 days ago I think.
I can't see a reason for the downward trend to stop, as the night time trance seems to be kicking in and I seem to go for hours without even thinking about food. Beyond thrilled!

JustFab · 16/05/2012 20:46

Congratulations!

BigBoobiedBertha · 16/05/2012 21:24

Shotgun - some doctors say weigh daily to keep you on track. I'm afraid I don't take much notice of PMcK on that one and weigh whenever I feel the need. It isn't as often as it used to be but I couldn't go 2 weeks unless I was in denial about eating too much.Blush. Do what works for you. Well done on your 3lb though. What a great start!Smile

Alibaba - how lovely to be feeling so good about yourself. You are a real PMcK success story to prove to the rest of us it really does work and you don't need diets. Smile

Fab - it is so nice to 'see' you so positive. I was going to say I'll have your Double Decker if you don't want it but I still have half an Easter egg and 7 creme eggs left from Easter so I don't need it.

Positive - it was me who said you would probably lose weight. I should imagine it will drop off with the weight. I also wondered if food was going to be hard to get. I don't suppose there is a well stocked Sainsburys with 40 types of chocolate just round the corner to tempt you (or whatever your weakness is). Do you have to have lots of injections?

arfur - leaving cake! Shock I wish I could leave cake. I have left chocolate and stuff but as yet haven't mastered the temptress of cake. I bow down to your cake leaving powers. Grin

BigBoobiedBertha · 16/05/2012 21:26

Oh poo. I meant it will drop off with the heat Positive. Fingers have a will of their own when in contact with the key board and regularly replace what I want to say with something completely nonsensical! Blush

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 16/05/2012 21:50

Thanks Fab and BBB - I've done twice-daily weighing for as long as I can remember but am willing to drop to weekly when I've lost a fair bit more and feel confident things are stable.
Great to hear Ali's shop-window revelation. Blots out memory of own blinding flash moment - reflection of tummy wobbling that couldn't be ignored.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/05/2012 22:38

BBB - you must keep your pants of pride for that! Creme eggs lying uneaten? Not in this house...

PA we x-posted earlier. You will look fabulous after a year abroad - a new challenge and a new environment, what a brilliant time to reinvent your eating and get rid of any emotional baggage you have to do with food!

Shotgun - I weigh daily. I have an App on my iPhone where I log it, and it monitors the trend - i.e. an increase for a couple of days isn't an issue if the overall trend is downwards. It lets you know when you are levelling off or starting to trend upwards. Also shows BMI, and has a lovely graph to show you how far you've come. I love it Blush Grin
I know it goes against all PMK principles, but I find that if I am hiding from the scales there is a reason, and a couple of weeks with no weighing for me generally means that I have put a pound or two on.

I finally managed to get hold of a bra today that doesn't show under the dress I'm wearing on Saturday (am bridesmaid for my cousin). I am somewhat poured into the dress, but it looks really good. I am so pleased to be looking forward to a lovely event properly without stressing about how I look. It makes me a bit sad to realise just how much emotional and energy I have spent worrying about how I look on important (to me) days in the past, and I am determined that it ends here.
I have developed a new interest in clothes and fashion which is such fun but is proving seriously detrimental to our bank balance Blush

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 16/05/2012 22:53

Like the sound of that app Abi - I use Tap and Track atm but it's a bit basic and not very accurate or satisfying. What's your one called?

How exciting to have a new-found interest in clothes. I love them also but as an SAHM can't really justify buying as often as I'd like - plus DH frequently reminds me he practices family holdback in this area whilst showing me the holes in the elbows of his jumpers!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/05/2012 23:00

Oh - I'm a SAHM too! Blush Grin

My phone is upstairs, I will post the name of the app when I go up to bed.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/05/2012 23:43

Ok the app is called Weight Diary.

I think clothes fit is the best way to monitor long term weight fluctuations really. But I find it so hard atm to do that. My shape has changed hugely since having the boys, I had got used to maternity and nursing clothes which are cut looser. Plus I have clothes in my wardrobe ranging from size 14-20, all of which fit well, which makes it difficult to spot the changes.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 17/05/2012 08:38

Thanks for that. Will have a look.

At the moment I'm down to one presentable pair of jeans as far as everyday clothes go. I refuse to buy the next size up as I'm convinced I'll just expand in to them. Doesn't leave much scope when you're getting dressed though!

JustFab · 17/05/2012 10:15

Morning all Grin.

BigB Thank you Smile.

Woo Hoo!!!! I have lost a 1lb since I last weighed myself. Happy happy happy.

Solo · 17/05/2012 17:53

JustFab · 17/05/2012 18:10

HELLO!!!!!!! Grin

tb · 17/05/2012 19:57

Fab well done!

I don't know how my weight has changed - I tried to weigh myself, but my electronic scales refused to play ball, no matter where on the floorboards I put them. I got either 'err' or 'ee'. Hope I'm not too heavy for them - they were from the US, and last time I got on them I was about 134kg Blush

Eaten too much crappy worth-throwing-in-the-bin tart this afternoon.

Yesterday, I was full of good intentions about going to the supermarket first thing - it's a bank holiday here, and they were open with a 30% reduction on clothes. I could've replaced my summer tshirts and knickers. Even though I felt a bit 'meh' about doing it just because they were reduced. BUT, I didn't sleep well - poss a bit worried about dd+friend out in their tent, and then spent the day getting increasingly exasperated with them as their arrangements are so vague.

The friend's step-dad was to collect her, at some indefinite time. Then they were both going to stay at another friend in the village. Finally they decided to go and sleep at the friend's house, outside the village in the middle on nowhere. Finally, at just after 6, they left, and dh had to take them. Of course, we have no idea what time she'll be back tomorrow.

Just before lunch, the phone rang. Expecting it to be the sf, I couldn't get what they guy meant - he was talking about a girl called Angelina that I'd never heard of, so passed the phone to dd. She expected it to be this guy, too. Anyway, there is another weekly boarder who's her boyfriend. Following the death of this girl's dm, she's in a children's home, and they needed another adult to put their name to a permission for her to spend Weds afternoon out with her boyfriend. Confused Me, too. The home is ok, and Angelina had spoken to dd about it, who had, of course completely forgotten to tell me - until after the phone call. I said yes, but have since remembered that she has an appt with Camhs equiv on the same afternoon. Gaah, just don't know what to do now. Think I'll probably have to hover in the vicinity of the college all afternoon. Either that, or they come to our village, and we take all three back to college for 17.30 for study.

Why, oh why, do teens embroil you in these increasingly complicated arrangements? When she goes to lycée in September she'll be about 100km away, and it can only get more complicated.

JustFab · 17/05/2012 20:48

What a day you have had!

tb · 17/05/2012 21:32

Quite normal, sadly. We think that dd has pda - it's an asd, and it's principal characteristic is lack of empathy Grin

She went off with her new Canon 500d - and the friend has a jealous step-sister. Just hope it doesn't end in tears.

We didn't buy the camera to spoil her, she's really gifted at taking photos, and wants to be a designer or a photographer. So, for us, it sort of represents a gesture of faith in her capabilities. Don't to say investment in her future as don't to put pressure on her, although there's an element of that.

That why she'll be so far away for lycée, as she wants to her bac in arts plastiques appliqués. Competition is hard, as it's also the bac for architects, interior designers, clothes designers etc etc. In order to try and get accepted, she's finally started working, and has brought her average up to 14.6/20 from just about scraping by at around 10/20. At her college, if you get less than 10, you generally have to repeat the year unless there are good reasons.

Still, we're having a nice quiet evening, watching the programme about the euro crisis.

tb · 17/05/2012 21:38

Fingers gone! Meant to say 'don't want to say investment'

BigBoobiedBertha · 18/05/2012 09:51

Morning

tb - that made me snigger a little bit - 'Still, we're having a nice quiet evening, watching the programme about the euro crisis'. Your evening sounds as exciting as mine last night. I spent it watching Question Time and then the This Week, a lot of which was about the Euro/economic crisis. I'm so rock and roll.Grin

My DS1 has AS/DCD so get your investment thing - if DS shows signs of some talent we do seem to try and find ways of helping him just because he needs all the help he can get. There doesn't seem to be the same need with DS2 who will find his own way although we do try and make sure he doesn't miss out. DS doesn't have friends like your DD though - he doesn't seem to see the point. On other hand he isn't bad at empathy but you have to spell it out to him sometimes. His AS is mild and the DCD causes him grief more than anything.

Hope your day is less frustrating today.

Waves to Solo

Hope the rest of you are well this morning. Your cousin's wedding has come round quickly Ali - it is really great you are feeling so good about yourself too. I hope you have a fantastic day.Smile

I like clothes shopping too although I buy too much cheap stuff on the basis that I am forever hoping that I am not going to be wearing such large sizes for long. So I buy cheap and then it doesn't last and I have to get some more.

MardyBra · 20/05/2012 10:13

PMK says "awaken" a lot doesn't he? I don't think people awaken much these days.

Thing3 · 20/05/2012 11:15

Can I come back please? I was here last year and did really well but then fell so far off the wagon I can't see it anymore :(

I have regained at least half the weight I lost and worried if I don't do something soon it will spiral out of control!

Hello to everybody, I tried reading the whole thread but it was a bit too long :)
