Hi I've been steadily losing weight since Jan, nearly two stone now. I struggle when DD1 off school so use each term as reason to kick start again my next goal of losing 10lbs in next 7weeks. I've been using myfitnesspal app to log food, walk a lot with 7mth old babe in buggy and do Shred dvd 3xs a week. I'm just about to try level 3 which looks very challenging oooh...

Anyone want to join me?

weighed myself this am also: 11st 5.5 lbs. It's a bit over the upper end of the BMI range. Loosing 10lbs would take me to 10st 10lbs - if I have done my calc correctly. That would be good.

Have baked cheese scones with DS2 this am. They are lovely (did quality control)! Got to find that willpower - I do possess it - and be good for the rest of the day.

Best of luck to all today!

spicyorange · 17/04/2012 11:32

greenfig · 17/04/2012 13:14

Me too please! I have the last 1/2 stone to lose & any motivation I can get I'll takeGrin I initially lost 1 1/2 stone on dukan over a year ago & would like to lose the last bit & tone/fitten up for summer. I have been not too strictly lo carbing & shredding but take 2 steps forward & 1 back (w/es & school hols)Blush but progress has def been made. Good luck everyoneSmile

Fluffy1234 · 17/04/2012 13:14

Can I join? I am only 5 foot 1 inch and weigh 8 stone 13. I would like to be 8 and a half stone by the next half term holidays ( then I would have lost a total of 5 stone). I intend to low carb during the week and then relax just a bit at the weekend.

ssmile · 17/04/2012 13:39

mybabyweightiseight I'm 40at start of next yr so my goal this year was to lose 40lbs, I'm 27lbs down so far. But I also couldn't do more than 3half push ups, but after 3months of doing Shred dvd 3* a week I can now do proper push ups (only a couple) but I can rattle off 2sets of 15 half ones (knees on floor) its made huge difference to my upper body strength. Worth a try :)

Good second day here. Kept to under 1350 cals plus this glass of wine and did a Zumba class.
Have rediscovered my george foreman grill which is good for lunches.

upsidewide · 17/04/2012 23:17

hi everyone,
I had a good day. Managed a yoga class last night, which was mostly stretching. I signed up to the website myfitnesspal, it is really easy to use and it seems to be motivating me to think about what I am eating.
I ran 5 miles this morning and have eaten relatively okay ... even resisted an ice-cream when the DSs had them today ... but I did manage to eat some of their pizza (but it was homemade so not quite so many calories, I hope).

ssmile you are quite an inspiration re: weight loss and push ups. I am hoping to get the shred dvd out it's wrapping tomorrow.

ssmile · 18/04/2012 08:02

Pleased that I was only 100c over, logged 1300yest, and managed to resist the crunchie bar my DH bought home for me last night and got through watching Holby by crunching some dry cereal special K instead (only small handful). Evening is my nibble danger zone!

Heres to a healthy Wednesday.....

Day one semd to go well but was 1/2 a pound heavier this morning :(

Life would be easier if

a) people didin't bring cakes and cholocolate to work
b) we didn't have easter eggs lying around the house
c) The children finished their meals
d) I had an ounce of self control

Run tonight - please not too much rain!

greenfig · 18/04/2012 09:40

Morning ladies!
Well done ssmile mustidy & upside Don't be disheartene bullet proof it will soon start shiftingSmile
I did 6w6p yest & will prob do same again today. Ther's a v helpful thread for any newbie Jillian enthusiasts, I can certainly recommend Shred. I am 1lb down this am but it doesn't really count as it's my Easter excessGrin I have another to go to get to pre hols & 1 more will be my lowest in approx 6 years hurrah!!
Hope you all have a good day

OhGood · 18/04/2012 10:43

Hi everyone - can I sign up?

Doc told me I need to lose a stone to get within my normal BMI range.
I would really really like to drop from a size 16 to a size 14. I am quite a shortarse so really size 16 is pretty huge on me.

I commute into London 3 days a week and on those days am sitting down for 14-16 hours straight (terrible.)

My rules:
Shred or swim 4x a week (ie on non-commute days)
No processed food, no biscuits and other crap
Lots more healthy food - lots more veg

Starting RIGHT NOW - thanks for the motivation!

OhGood · 18/04/2012 10:44

Bulletproof just read your post which reminds me - rule # 1:

I WILL STOP EATING DD's LEFTOVERS

spicyorange · 18/04/2012 10:45

Hi everyone your doing well, i went to aqua fit last night and also swam 20 lengths and did 2 mile on the treadmill.

food was about 900 calories when i filled my fitness pal in so not doing bad.

LittlePickleHead · 18/04/2012 14:23

Can I ask those who have been doing 30ds for a while - did anyone find that they just didn't lose weight? I've been calorie counting and doing the shred for about a month now (although I must admit the weekends have been less strict, but even so I am definitely under maintainence) but I have been gaining and losing the same lb the whole time :(

I measured myself at the beginning but haven't since. I do look better so I'll measure myself again tomorrow AM and hope I've lost inches, but really it's starting to get me down. I managed to drop 1/2 stone last summer (from the weight I am now) but that was by spending 3 or 4 one hour sessions in the gym. Perhaps the shred just isn't enough for me and I need to do that? I can't get to the gym any more though due to childcare issues, so it's a catch 22 situation!

Anyone have any words of wisdom? I have 5 weeks til holiday so I am motivated not to give up...

spicyorange · 18/04/2012 16:19

I found the shred toned me more than losing pounds i have lost inches though, I found walking/jogging and my treadmill and swimming have been good for me. However i am doing around an hour a day exersize somedays more.

Its the food part for me i have really had to change my eating habits so for instance today ive had
cocopops for brekkie the variety pack size and a banana
ham salad but it was a slice of ham with a loads lettice, cucumber and tomato for lunch also had a apple.
For tea im having pasta which i have measured with a mug for portion size and tomato and garlic sauce.
Can you get out walking with the children i walked mine all through the easter hols did them some good as well as me.

greenfig · 18/04/2012 16:24

littlepickle I lost weight through lo carb, mainly dukan, & did shred last year in the hope I would lose the last 1/2 stone & fitten & tone up. Whilst I didn't lose any more I didn't gain any & was no longer so careful about what I ate & drank, I really did feel & look lots better. However I let it slip but am now back into it. I am lo carbing in the sense that I'm not having bread, pasta etc & cutting out alcohol in the week but I do include fruit & prefer to have lo fat rather than lots butter, cream etc. I have been steadily losing again but have only lost cms rather than inches through shred. I am def more 'lifted' & have a less lumpy silhouette though so feel it really is worthwhile! There are lots of long termers with good advice on the thread who have really noticed a big difference. In short, I'd recommendSmile good luck!

LittlePickleHead · 18/04/2012 17:24

Thanks for the comments. I am also low carbing (no starchy carbs, replacing them with pulses, sweet potato etc) and cutting out as much junk as was possible (damn Easter getting in the way!). Inches I fine, but I guess it's the psychological aspect of seeing the number on the scales go down that I'm missing. I find that really motivating. But if it helps me look any more tone in my bikini at all then it will have been worth it!

Has anyone managed 30 days straight?

greenfig · 18/04/2012 17:57

Also my bf% is reducing although actual weight loss is slower than I'd hoped after dukans good losses. I know exactly what you mean re scales, doesn't matter how much I'm told muscle is heavier than fat & that a loss could be water, it still excites me to see the lossGrin I think the last bit is often quite slow to go isn't it? I did a month with normal days off last year & have been going again approx 6 weeks this time, a mix of shred & some of her other ones.

Livinginorganisedchaos · 18/04/2012 22:38

Struggling a bit with my new diet. Started feeling really hungry yesterday pm and found it very hard not to snack on kids leftovers. Tonight an old friend came round for dinner so DH treated us to a chinese takeaway. I tried to be good and ordered beef in black bean and green pepper sauce with no rice. Then, I slipped up by munching on a pile of prawn crackers. Tomorrow is a work night at a Thai restaurant so another huge will power battle looms.

On the plus side my new running shoes arrived today so no excuses not to get running again this weekend.

BulletProofMum · 19/04/2012 09:25

Bugger. Failed on the running last night. It was peeing with rain thoguh. tonight!

Chaos- the only way I find I can control hunger is to stay of the carbs and increase protein. I just so miss bread :(

greenfig · 19/04/2012 09:25

Ooh that's tough living I really struggle with socialising, infact to begin with I managed to avoid it for a few weeks to get a bit of loss under my belt so that I didn't keep losing the same few lbs. Your running will def compensate though. I am 1/4lb down this am did 6w6p last night & hope tpo fit same in again today. Have a good day everyone.

mybabyweightiseightyearsold · 19/04/2012 14:29

Am looooooving MFP!

It's totally genius! I am actually being honest with my logging of both food and exercise, and "Vent Club" met (let's not pretend it's a book club anymore) for wine and curry which lead to a day of 3700kcal! Wow. Was nice though.

Been sticking to the C25K, am a little in love withthat too - I hate running normally. Mentioned it in passing at nursery and have been press ganged into joining the fundraising marathon relay in 6 weeks. So, I can currently run a mile - had better get myself out in the rain tonight so I can make 5 miles in 6 weeks.

I've put on 3lb - but lost an inch off my waist. This makes no sense at all. My body is mental.

Have a good day, imagine the kids' bogies all over their left overs. Makes that pleasantly soggy fish finger less appealing....

BulletProofMum · 19/04/2012 15:35

Hmmm bogies - nice. DD stuck her big toe up my nose this mornign and exclaimed bogies! Last year (when she was about 15m) had to take he on a commuter train - she kept picking her nose and offering the contents to all the suited and booted gentlement that made the mistake of catching her eyes.

What are all your codes?!

Fizzybee · 19/04/2012 19:49

Well today was my first determined day
I joined closer diets online programme last night £25 for £10 weeks they devise a weekly meal plan depending on your statistics plus were you shop with recipes and each week you do a weigh in and get a new plan for you there's also forums with experts for support plus lots of diet options low carb, low gi etc... I'm on low gi

I'm impressed they give you a daily/ weekly shopping list and you can swap otions or exclude foods you don't eat they also give you recommended excesize list with videos each day

Today I started at 12.5stone Blush

I've had

Smoothies and wholegraine toast

Ham and low fat cheese salad and apple

Risotto with onion and chicken and parmesan

Still can have a snack of low fat cheese and wholegraine crackers later

Done an hour and a half walk with dog and buggy I will lose some weight!

BulletProofMum · 19/04/2012 20:33

Good day - I even managed my run. Wasn't going to go but my au pair kicked me out :)
