Who is up for a stone off in a month?

MeremetaLoucoDiamant · 13/02/2012 22:49

Or maybe as close to that as we can get?

I am size 14, would love to drop a dress size for a specific date next month and I am possibly 20lbs ish overweight, so a stone would be a great starting point.

I am vegetarian but attempting to low carb.

So.... who's in?

OP posts:
shinecrazydiamond · 27/02/2012 18:49

fuzzy - I would count things like bananas/corn on the cob/butternut squash/potatoes... ie those fruits or veg with high carb content. I wouldn't count salad, carrots, green veg, tomatoes, apples, watermelon etc..

FuzzzyDuck · 27/02/2012 18:56

shine that's kinda how I was thinking. Sweet potato is cooking in oven. Getting dd washed and ready for bed so I can enjoy my dinner in peace n quiet!! Will load up plate with lettuce, cucumber etc. managed good through the day, only started to feel hunger around 3.30/4pm but managed to sip on lots of water and had a laughing cow triangle at 6. Dd will keep me busy now till dinner is ready Grin. Hope you've had good day Smile

shinecrazydiamond · 27/02/2012 19:09

fuzzy - yeah, it just seems insane to count mushrooms or sugar snap peas to me! Sounds like you've had a good day, food wise. Ive had..

Breakfast - half a pack of quorn fillets, red pepper strips, grilled pepper philadelphia light followed by a fat free yogurt

Pear
remaining half of quorn fillets

Lunch - dried apricots, feta cheese, watermelon,

tea - rocket, watercress, roasted mushrooms, peppers, butternut squash

I want to eat today though. Sat here thinking about chocolate and cake. cravings quite bad

Very proud of myself, after much procrastination, I finally did The Shred! Just need to keep up the motivation. I did it this time last year as a Spring Blitz and lost 8lb, I'd be so happy to lose that again.

I think I've been good today, not following any diet, just trying to eat healthier.

8am had half a 3 egg cheese and ham omelette (shared with my twins)
10am couple of dessertspoons of honey Greek yogurt with fresh blueberries, cherries and a little nutty muesli
12pm tin of Heinz mulligatawny soup (left here by my dad, not something I usually eat) And a satsuma
4pm babybel cheese, couple of slices of mortadella

I've drank 3 cups of tea (each with a quarter of a spoon of sugar, my tip if you have sugar is to gradually reduce it. I used to have 8 cups all with a heaped teaspoon)
Lots of water

Just done the Shred, also did a 20 min walk with the buggy earlier.

Dinner is smoked salmon, a Blackpepper Basa Fillet and a big spinach salad with cherry tomatoes, sunflower seeds and an olive oil, mustard dressing.

Not sure how many calories that is Confused, does that sound Ok?

nenevomito · 27/02/2012 21:15

I did quite well today. Small slip up when I made the children chocolate pancakes and had to quality test them, but overall calorie intake today is 1205 so almost spot on to my 1200 goal.

shinecrazydiamond · 27/02/2012 22:58

thats bloody good bella!!

LackaDAISYcal · 28/02/2012 08:07

I did ok yesterday, apart from the two mini milky ways that untapped themselves and jumped into my mouth Blush

Started on a good note today with an egg and two slices of naice ham.

Feeling much better after a reasonable nights sleep as the spotty, demanding one slept all night...woohoo!

Still housebound though :( so no chance of exercise here (any excuse)

What's shredding?

nenevomito · 28/02/2012 08:59

Ah crap. Weighed myself thus morning and I've put a pound back on due to my weekend excesses. I should've waited till Friday to weigh in. Time for some exercise and no more booze!*

  • till the weekend
londonlottie · 28/02/2012 09:32

Weighed myself this morning - 193lb. Gah, was 165lb in August - isn't that awful? :(

ANYWAY.

I am going to aim to get down to 183lb by the 17th March when we go on holiday for a week and will no doubt undo any good work. (LVB - we are going to Cornwall - just booked! Grin) That kind of loss is only possibly with low-carb, for me. I did Dukan in 2010/11 and the weight fell off, but I started having stupid amounts of things I hate - eg. sweeteners, Diet Coke, etc. Trying to avoid all that this time.

Good luck to everyone today. Today's goal for me = no wine, no nibbling the girls' food, locating my mojo...

LaVitaBellissima · 28/02/2012 09:43

Thanks Shiney, feeling very positive this morning that I have my motivation back, very determined Grin

Daisy This is The Shred hard, but it's only 20 minutes, you feel like you are going to die in the begging, but it's surprising just how quickly your fitness increases. It's very important to do toning exercises when you diet, otherwise you get slimmer but had excess flabby skin like my twin tummy!

Babyheave Wine is my major downfall, initially I made the rule that I could only drink on Fri & Sat nights, but have had to amend that to half a bottle per night I can easily polish off a bottle at a time
I lost weight when I was pregnant, partly because I was sick through my pregnancy but mainly Blush because I drank so many empty calories pre pregnancy.

Hope everyone is doing well, this thread is really pushing me in the right direction!

LaVitaBellissima · 28/02/2012 09:55

Sorry begging = beginning, had = have, IPad makes such random autocorrects Confused

X posts Lottie fab about Cornwall, you don't have to undo your good work, lovely long walks, running around on the beach with the girls. Plus your hotel has a gym and a swimming pool Grin
I'd still definitely have a small indulgence of a cream tea though Wink

shinecrazydiamond · 28/02/2012 10:23

Morning all!

Well, a lb down this morning but something tells me that I am really going to struggle to lose another 9lbs by 17th March. I am really, really trying though - couldn't do any more on the diet front. I could do more on the exercise front so I am working up to 30 minutes of Wii Zumba before the school run this afternoon. Have not eaten yet but have 2 Cauldron Veggie sausages in the oven as I type, which I will have with a pile of roasted mushrooms and a small amount of feta cheese - calories = 300.

Lottie - yes, loads of opportunity to walk when on holiday - maybe aim to stay the same after a week, or just put on a couple of lbs maximum. So, some nice treats but not going completely mental.

bella - have read your eating back from yesterday - very nice menu indeed. Made me wish I wasn't vegetarian!

baby - step AWAY from the scales until Friday [ says she, who hops on every day ]

daisy - good start to the day

FuzzzyDuck · 28/02/2012 11:17

Morning! Been a busy bee so far and not had proper chance to eat before now. Just had 2 x ryvita with laughing cow cheese and a chunk of cheddar and 1 cup of tea. Planning an omelette with cheese and broccoli with side salad for lunch and I think pasta for dinner. Trying to sip water all day too Smile

takingbackmonday · 28/02/2012 11:43

Starting properly today.

Breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled with a bit of feta cheese, half a bag of spinach, a red chili and pumpkin seeds stirred in.

Gym in a couple of hours then Salmon, broccoli and brown rice sort of stirred together with more chilies (chili obsession) later. Maybe soup for dinner.

Exactly 1 stone to lose. Grin

LackaDAISYcal · 28/02/2012 12:33

Shred ordered!

I've noticed that the standard of spelling has gone down and the use of random words has increased since iPhones and Android phones have become more popular. The pedants must be bleaching their eyes on an hourly basis :o

I was out in my car earlier.....wine gum fail Blush

ferfuxake · 28/02/2012 14:28

Hello everyone. I braved the scales again this morning after my rather disastrous weekend, and was relieved to find that I am still 4 pounds down from my starting weight. Now I must not allow myself to lose motivation but build on that this week.

Some of you seem to eat such lovely combinations of food. I never seem to have the right stuff in - I know you're going to tell me I should menu plan, but I'm just not that organised.

So my typical (half-arsed low carb) day seems to be looking something like this. If anyone has any suggestions on how to liven it up a bit/make it a bit more effective I'd be very grateful! I am a lapsed vegetarian and still don't eat any red meat. I am getting quite bored of chicken though, and do miss pulses

Breakfast: boiled egg or rice cereal (as recommended by Zoe Harcombe!), fruit, coffee

Lunch: veg soup, cheese, fruit

Dinner: chicken, fish or quorn, with vegetables or salad

Weaknesses: like LaVita I keep breaking all my rules about only drinking occasionally, and reverting to daily booze. I also find it really hard to keep away from the biscuit tin (which only has Rich Tea in, but still...) and the emergency dark chocolate supply.

I also do bugger all exercise, apart from running around after 3 and 1 year old DDs, but that won't tone me up. I guess I should gear myself up for a bit of exercise too.

FuzzzyDuck · 28/02/2012 15:32

I had lovely lunch of omelette with broccoli, sweet corn and cheese! Addrd a huge salad of lettuce, cucumber and roasted red peppers (with 2 teaspoons of soy sauce). Was really tasty and def filled me up! Even after my dinner tonight of pasta with light cream, quorn and veg, I'm still left with 400 kcals! Havent really counted in veg so will save 100 for that (give or take). Feels good to be eating more veg than I would normally. Think that's where my diet lacks. I'm not a huge fruit fan but like smoothies/fresh juice. Was ment to be doing pump and combat tonight but I've got to much other stuff to get through when dd goes to bed. Will try get Thursday afternoon if my mum can watch dd for an hour or so. I have the shred DVD so might brave it and have a go later. Eek!!!!

shinecrazydiamond · 28/02/2012 15:46

fuzzy - that is a great lunch, that's for sure. I'd quite like to have had that!

ferfux - I'd probably add some Rocket and make your breakfast an omelette - also try roasted peppers/mushrooms - or roast some large field mushrooms with cream cheese and black pepper.

Lunch for me was half a bag of rocket, red pepper, quorn fillets, feta cubes and baked mushroom with paprika. 280 cals.

Dinner will be mushroom soup and then some watermelon. I am feeling relatively 'satisfied' hunger wise.

shinecrazydiamond · 28/02/2012 15:47

welcome back Monday!

FuzzzyDuck · 28/02/2012 18:01

Wish I liked mushrooms, you can add then to so much, but naaa! Just had dinner of carbonara with quorn pieces and some added broccoli. Was a huge portion but according to the fitness app, was under 400 kcal Hmm. Maybe it was... Means I have 250 left so maybe cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit after dd in bed Smile

LaVitaBellissima · 28/02/2012 18:10

My abs are hurting after yesterday's shred, and my resolve is wavering Sad

Off to do bath and bed, can someone please shout at me so I Shred tonight, once the terrors are asleep!

londonlottie · 28/02/2012 18:20

I don't know how you muster the enthusiasm once they've gone to bed, it's all I can do not to fall into a vat of wine once that BT 150 starts playing '3 sisters' Grin I used to get up early and Shred, that's what I'd have to do again, the only way I think... although I'd have to do it in our kitchen on the lower ground floor, not sure our floorboards could handle it in the sitting room.

I've had a good day food-wise, one thing am also trying to do is eat with the girls and then not touch anything else after 6pm. Really has worked for me in the past...

dustwhatdust · 28/02/2012 19:55

hello to all my fellow weekend ''off the railers !''

what is it about food we have this yoyo habit : being good , not being good ,
going completely AWOL , hey presto it's monday !

LaVitaBellissima · 28/02/2012 20:35

Lottie mine still wake up at 5am Sad I've tried everything, now we mostly give them a bottle and they go back to sleep with us until 7/7.30am, which isn't always that comfortable as they both want to sleep on me. Need to fix it really, but that's a whole other thread!

I did the Shred, already easier than yesterday. daisy well done for buying! You need a set of hand weights, but you can just use 2 small bottles of water or two cans if you don't have any. Good luck, stick with it, it really does get easier Smile

Bit naughty tonight, I'd roasted a chicken, but just could not help myself, and ate loads of crispy skin with salt, very bad!, sorry Shiney I know you are vegetarian, probably sounds disgusting to you but I love it.

DP has wine and I have resisted Grin
