Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

Grin lost 3lb this week. I'm so surprised as it was my birthday this week so I had the day off Blush (definitely still treating myself with food!) I assumed I'd blown all my weekly points but was still expecting not to lose much if at all.

Thanks for all the lunch ideas. Omelette and feta are great ideas. I've not looked at eggs so far as I assumed they were high pp.

Well done Ginger and belated happy birthday!

Ok, I am struggling to hold on to doing this

I went to my 2nd party of the weekend today, and this one had even better children's grup than yesterday. Cheese & pineapple hedgehogs and chocolate fingers and sausage rolls.

And I can't resist nibbly things.

And then DH made pizza for dinner. And I'm pre-menstrual and my appetite seems huge at the moment. And i'm craving the rest of the tub of Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream that's in the freezer.

Help.

How do you lot cope with PMS and big chocolate cravings?

LolaLadybird · 19/02/2012 22:34

Sanuk - you need to have some low point chocolate things to hand if you're going to give in to the cravings. Maybe some WW choc biscuits or cakes. Curly Wurlys and Cadbury's Fudge bars also good - a definite sugar hit and only 3 PP. Curly Wurlys especially good as they take a bit longer to get through (chewy).

And cut yourself some slack - childrens parties are nightmare for food, there's always so much of it. Also, maybe you could get DH to time his high-point dinners a bit better if it helps you feel a bit more in control (ie. not straight after a danger-zone kids party!Wink).

I lost 0.1 kilos this week which is better than nothing considering the week I had! Here's to a better week this week.

Sanuk - I always have a pack of either the WW choc orange mini cookies or the lemon and ginger biscuits in the house, they're both lovely. I used to get packs of mini mars etc, but I can't trust myself!

Hi all.

Well done Ginger. Great birthday present!

Well I did a 25 minute walk which felt good.

Had roast pork for dinner. Did lots of veg to pad it out so only had 2 small roast potatoes which were a WW recipe anyway, one Yorkshire pudding and a small bit of crackling. Had 3 glasses of red wine though. Was nibbly after and had a mini milk ice lolly thing which I think are only one point.

Sanuk - the WW dark chocolate and ginger bars are nice and there is a new one out that is a bit like a Snickers. Or as Lola says Curly Wurlys are only 3 points.

Feel a bit crap today. Woke up fine and got up and showered and felt constantly dizzy and light-headed. Went back to bed and slept for a couple of hours and feel better but neck is sore so think a need chiropractor appointment.

Food wise had a sandwich when I got up as I was starving. No breakfast today though. Will make a bowl of fruit salad and yoghurt later. Planning veg curry for dinner. Weigh in day tomorrow so need to be extra good today.

Ginger - that's great that you lost in your birthday week!

Thank you for the chocolate suggestions Smile

I have a bit of a prejudice about WW food, I don't like the idea of buying the products and I hate artificial sweeteners and low fat food. I also don't go to meetings so don't see the products. But they do them in Sainsbury's I thin, so I might give the chocolate bars a whirl. Speaking of which... I am definitely going to get some Curly Wurlys in as I love them and they do take a while to eat!

Lola - you are right about the high cal dinners on the same day as a party. Problem was we didn't have much food in, so DH suggested making pizza (from scratch). I did at least request a vegetarian one! But what this has shown me is that I need to be prepare better in the week. To really think about balancing the day out. Sigh. I am not used to be planning my food - I'm used to eating when I damn well fancy Blush

I've been much more on track today, with porridge for breakfast, and a tuna salad for lunch.

Buda - hope you're feeling OK now.

Oh and ObviObli - I was tempted to buy a cheap bag of mini mars bars just the other day but resisted for the same reason as you!

I think I should be Ok with CurlyWurlys...

How many points in Skips then Obviously? {had never thought of Skips but now v interested}

Sanuk - homemade pizza isn't too bad compared to a bought one. I'm making them for kids tea today so DH and I will also have some later but haven't started to work out the points value yet. I am having a slightly lardy day (croissant with coffee out this morning) but I have plenty of weekly points left after the weekend.

Sanuk - I know exactly what you mean about fake sugars etc. I do feel they are not helpful after a while as I think they make you crave more of them. I went mad in week 1 and bought loads and by week 2 I was struggling and I do feel that they contributed. The dark choc and ginger one is yummy though!

Have just answered my own questions re the Skips - 2pp is pretty good. As Sanuk says, you are a bad influence ... Smile

Sanuk - I find meal planning frustrating. I spend ages doing it then something will happen and it all goes to pot. But if I don't have any plan then the only meals I can think of to cook involve tons of carbs and too many points.

Report
LolaLadybird · 20/02/2012 16:44

Have just re-read Sanuk's post about the fake sugars and agree about the taste of artificial sweeteners. I don't see the point in a lot of WW food either (WW bread for instance) but I have made an exception for some of their bars. They had some really nice chewy toffee bars that were only 2 points but felt as if you'd had a real sweet treat. I don't go to the meetings any more tho' and haven't seen those bars anywhere else.

WW mini-rolls were a disappointment by the way, very light and synthetic tasting.

Report
LolaLadybird · 20/02/2012 16:46

Ginger - I'm not so good at planning full meals religiously but just try and make sure I have enough low point ingredients in the house to cook up stuff that will be OK ...

How much is a bag of chocolate buttons?

And would it be really bad on so many levels if I ate DS's potty training chocolate buttons?
Report
ObviouslyOblivious · 20/02/2012 20:02

Depends. Are you potty trained?

Report
Sanuk · 20/02/2012 20:09

Good point OO.

I have actually done my business in the toilet today, unlike DS.

Therefore I win. Ner ner ner.

Then that's fine. A 32g bag is 5 points :o

well done ginger and happy belated birthday

No loss or gain this week for me. I was disappointed that I hadn't lost anything. If I could just go for more than a week without having a cold I'm sure that'd help, as I'd be more inclined to be active. I was proud of myself yesterday though as we went to an awful children's birthday party where I didn't eat a thing.

Am under my pp allowance for today (for the 2nd time ever) but now my mind's wandering to what I could have to make up the difference!

Hello, are newcomers welcome here?

I started WW just over a week ago and would love some moral support (plus ideas etc).

I really struggle to stay within my points total (even with 49 activity points each week - I go to the gym a lot!) - how do you all do it?

Unfortunately I have a very large appetite and spend a lot of time being really hungry which is difficult Sad

On a positive note, I did lose 2lbs in my first week which is good Smile

Hi MrJelly, I hope newcomers are welcome, cos I'm one too.

I started a week ago as well.

Hi Jelly and Emma - you are both very welcome.

Jelly - fruit is your friend ... and protein actually. I feel your pain, I run regularly and find it gives me a much bigger appetite than on the days I don't exercise. I have tried to eat more protein (lean meat, eggs, pulses) to fill me up and it seems to keep me going for longer. I still love my carbs tho'.

Bit of a blow-out dinner here today with homemade pizza but have just taken it out of my weeklies which were still largely intact after an unusually modest weekend.
