Hi faz, I don't know much about reflux, but my friend's DD is suffering with it and my friend recommends this website

fazsaeed · 09/03/2012 12:50

Thanks a lot, I didn't take this serious at first (when he was 2 months) but it's got a lot worse and dr never took it serious either. I never realised how much it can/could effect him. I was like that until he was weaned. He was on regular meds but he calmed down so I thought he was ok....

Vicky08 · 09/03/2012 12:52

Faz I hope your poor little DS feels better soon, can't give any advice as I don't know anything about reflux but just want you to know that I'm thinking about you both Thanks

Well done bugsy you seem to be doing really well, I'm OK at the eating part, it's the exercise part that I have to improve :)

My tooth is still killing me, I can hardly eat and I have to drink through a straw and put the straw right into my throat so it's not touckung any of my teeth OW :(

I'm not a big fan of the dentist either Sparky which is probably one of the reasons I'm in pain now, I haven't been for a check up since last year Blush

SparkyMcSparrow · 09/03/2012 16:45

Hi all,
Still not feeling great here, haven't eaten hardly a thing for two days :( , but thanks to a stupid cake thread Blush I bought some Banoffe cake this afternoon. However it is the only thing I have fancied in two days so I thought why not! Only going to have a small slice and tell force dh to eat the rest!

On the plus side I have lost 2lb's in as many days :)

Big hugs Faz I'm no use advice wise but thinking of you!

Welcome back bugs Sounds like you are doing well :)

Fairenuff · 09/03/2012 17:22

Hi all, good to hear about the losses Smile

Faz no other advice for you, other than to keep taking him back to the GP if he doesn't improve. Also, have you tried posting on the sn threads?

I know TP suggested dipping his fingers in philly, which I agree with, but what about other foods. If he can cover his fingers and then lick them, he could eat baby food that way maybe? There is no reason why he shouldn't eat any food with his fingers (provided it's not too hot), even yoghurt.

I know it's messy, but so what, if he at least eats some of it. Also, it's quite fun and a lovely sensory experience. I used to let my dcs eat yoghurt and banana slices with their fingers and squish it and rub it around. All part of exploring texture and experimenting with taste Smile. They are teenagers now but we still call tinned peaches 'goldfish' Grin.

SparkyMcSparrow · 09/03/2012 17:31

Shock Dh has just come home from work. He said that the girls at his work asked him if I was pregnant today Shock . They said they had been wondering for a while Shock . :(

SparkyMcSparrow · 09/03/2012 17:35

Just chucked the cake in the bin (opened it first to make sure I don't dig it out later) .

Hows that for willpower!

Fairenuff · 09/03/2012 17:44
Shock

Well done Sparky but I have to say (a) how could they say that, and (b) why would your dh tell you they said that!? He's a braver man than my dh Grin.

SparkyMcSparrow · 09/03/2012 17:50

He did stick up for me! (He would have been murdered had he done otherwise) He also thought I would find it funny Hmm Men!

Bitches?? I don't know them very well but I am now trying to think of a way of getting back at them? [evil grin] None of them are particularly slim, in fact a few of them are walking whales!
Maybe I should make a cake with laxatives with a note in the middle saying "hahahahaha but you won't call me preggers again!" Hmm

Fairenuff · 09/03/2012 17:55

You will get back at them by looking stunning in a slinky, sexy outfit at the next works do Wink

mrspepperpotty · 09/03/2012 17:55

Oh Sparky that was mean of them! BUT it did make you chuck the cake in the bin so at least you took something positive out of it rather than using it as an excuse to stuff your face as I probably would have

I'm going on holiday tomorrow. It's harder to diet on holiday so I don't mind if I don't lose any weight while I'm away - as long as I don't gain any!

See you when I get back Smile

SparkyMcSparrow · 09/03/2012 17:56

Have a great time mrspp !

fazsaeed · 09/03/2012 19:26

Thanks ladies.
I will post something a thread there.

Sparky it was horrible for them to say that but it's a kick up the ass too. Something I could do with lol.
They won't be laughing when they see you next. You will! :)

fazsaeed · 09/03/2012 19:30

Have a nice time mrspp

Vicky08 · 10/03/2012 17:49

Have a brilliant time mrspp

What bitches sparky wait till they see you in a few months, they'll have to eat their words.

I went to the dentist yesterday and I have to have my wisdom tooth out on Tuesday, I'm in so much pain that I'm actually looking forward to it Confused I had one out last year and it wasn't that bad so I hope it's the same this time.

With my sore mouth I can't eat a lot but I am trying or I wouldn't be able to function properly. For breakfast I've had a few spoonfuls of yogurt and for lunch some brown rice and chicken. It'll probably be soup for dinner, that's what I had last night and it wasn't too hard to eat.

I hope everyone is having a good Saturday

SparkyMcSparrow · 10/03/2012 18:16

Good luck at the dentist Vicky . Rather you than me Confused

Good day here, feeling much better. A bit of sun has helped! :)
Chicken and salad for dinner.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far!

putyourhatonsweetie · 10/03/2012 22:42

Hello all,

thinking of you faz, food must be such a minefield in your house - i really feel for you.

Vicky hope the dentist okay - food recommendations? I had glandular fever a couple of years ago and found finding food I could face was tough - but in the end frozen bananas and raspberries shoved in the processor comes out really creamy and tasted (almost) like ice cream but obviously fat free. Might also be nice for you and ds faz?

happy holidays mrspp

I have had a good week - though fitting in exercise a bit tricky, have lost another 0.6 kg, so now lost 8.8 and am only 300g away from my healthy weight range! cannot remember the last time I weighed this so its pretty exciting. starting work again will be a bit of a challenge. there are lots of buffets, morning teas etc as part of the culture of my sector - while it is never that appealing as food in itself - it is easy to get sucked in! I am in brisbane a couple of days next week and will be on corporate catering so fingers crossed it will be okay. just need to keep my eye on the prize.

hope you are all having a grand weekend and keep smiling

bugsylugs · 10/03/2012 23:42

faz how is lo today it must be so very wearing and upsetting for you. Sorry no tips wish I had. Problem is it hurts them to eat and it is painful with an empty tummy as the body keeps on producing acid anyway food neutralises it if all is in balance.
mrspp have a lovely holiday relax and enjoy have the treats when you really want them but slow down and enjoy them.
putyourhatonsweetie well done you so nearly there to healthy healthy. Could you slip a piece of chewing gum in so you cannot eat?
Had quiche and pickled onions for lunch both home made but guessing both are 'bad'. Well the quiche had protein and cheese so good for the bones. Did do a fast dog walk and shred day 6 today found it much harder for some reason.

Keep up the good work and lovely Sundays to all

Fairenuff · 11/03/2012 11:21

Wow putyourhaton well done, you are doing so well. How lovely to be so close to your goal. Soon you will only need to do maintaining. Bliss Smile.

I am faced with temptation almost daily at work. Some, like you say, not that tasty but there all the same. Others, gorgeous, homemade, delicious cakes!! I have made a habit of not having any at all. I make sure I have something else to snack on, usually fruit but sometimes an alpen light bar (70 cals). It's not too hard to resist once you get into the habit. Good luck, hope it all goes well back at work.

Remember to look out for new triggers such as tiredness and stress (not saying it will be like that, but be aware of the possibility). I know that when I get home from a hard day that's when I am most likely to eat because I'm a little bit hungry but also tired. I always have a large mug of coffee practically the minute I'm through the door. My ravenous teenagers usually have a bowl of soup to put them on til dinnertime Smile.

It's been nine weeks of dieting for me now, ten for a lot of you I know, and it seems like a long haul. But it's only four weeks til Easter, we could all lose another 3 or 4 pound by then (even if it's just to put back on over the bank holiday Grin).

fazsaeed · 11/03/2012 20:16

Thanks for asking bugsy heres your lecture lecture lol
He's been the same like any other day.
He's so scared of food it's horrible. He wants something but shudders away from it as he's had bad association in the past.
It's not ooo I'm not eating so they look at me or give me chocolate it's I'm not eating because it might hurt.
His behavioural problem Is a response to a stimuli which is pain from reflux ( like speech language therapist said)

putyourhatonsweetie · 11/03/2012 21:07

mmmm I think you are right fairenuff, definitely new triggers - tiredness is a key one for me also but also long days and possibility of skipping lunch [grrrr]. but am much more determined this time not to repeat old patterns. I would like to be very comfortablely within 'healthy' before I move on to trying tp maintain rather than lose. I have probably said before I am quite an all or nothing person so I think I will fing maintenance tricky - so I would like to lose a bit more so I have room for manouevre (sp?),

good luck for monday weigh ins

bugsylugs · 12/03/2012 13:27

Faz poor little one it must be so very hard for him, I just wonder if being hungry is also making it worse for him but of course he cannot know that. In fact I am sure it will a bit. Will he eat milk thickened with custard or the like?
Ironic isn't it when all of us are trying to loose and love food.

Weigh in for me hard work has paid off did 4 shreds last week level 1 couple of walks (dog) and 30 mins at gym. Pretty good on low GI and have lost 3 lb. next target to get below BMI 29 doing micro targets to make it seem possible

SparkyMcSparrow · 12/03/2012 14:08

Hi all!

WI today and day that I set the goal for myself to get to 12st Confused . Didn't quite manage it but close! I have lost a 3lbs in total this week (most likely helped along a bit by being ill) . Brings me in at 12st 1lb so I am happy with that! Plus considering the bad week I had before I'm amazed I was even close!
Also a little bit extra happy in that according to the NHS, my BMI is now just 'overweight' ! I am no longer 'obese'! Yaaaay! Grin

4 weeks today until Easter Monday, so my next target is going to get to get to 11st 7lbs (I can't believe I'm only 2lbs away from being in the 11st's :) ) by then .

That's on average around 2lb a week, 8lb overall. It means I have to keep my arse seriously on track to do it and keep the bread to a minimum , so I am going back to WW for a while to give me a bit of guidance. Weathers getting better so I am finally going to dig that bike out properly and re start the shred!

I am also going to write here (because then its on record Grin that I am going to compleatly lay off the eggs (see what I did there Grin ) this year! My birthday is 2 weeks after Easter and I don't want to put anything back on that close to that day, only way to avoid that is to no chocolate Confused !

Well done on your loss bugs ! The micro targets definitely help! The end goal doesn't seem so daunting then! Plus you get a nice sense of achievement when you manage to reach one! Keep it up!

SparkyMcSparrow · 12/03/2012 14:10

I apologise for all !

fazsaeed · 12/03/2012 15:46

Well done with the weight loss.

If he doesn't eat today I'm sticking the food in the blender and giving it to him through a syringe. Atleast he's getting something
