Well done Belina, that's excellent!

Hey Sparky, I like the name change Wink. No sunshine here though, it's gone really cold again!

SpankyMcSparrow · 05/03/2012 14:53

Yay you knew it was me Grin
Was changed last night for a joke, but I quite like it! Grin

OMG! Grin Belina thats a fab loss! Sorry I didn't read through earlier!

Fairenuff · 05/03/2012 17:24

Wow Belina what a fab loss Smile. I only lost half a pound this week but I feel fantastic and I think this week is going to be a good one. I have been trying the same pair of trousers on for four weeks and today they finally fit Smile.

Sparky love the name but can't quite get used to calling you Spanky yet Grin. You sound right on track, good idea to do meal plans.

I am going to look at a boot camp class this evening, just to see what they do. If it's full of athletic people I'm not going but if there are lots of huffing, puffing red-faced fatties, it might be the place for me Grin.

Today I was offered a cup cake and I said, no thank you. Do I win the prize for resisting the most tempting snack?

SpankyMcSparrow · 05/03/2012 17:33

Well done Fairnuff . I lurve cupcakes!!!! Funnily enough I saw a bootcamp advertised in my local area, was thinking about giving it a go, just don't know if I have the confidence to sweat in front of people yet Confused
And I will happily still answer to Sparky Grin Not sure if the name is staying yet! Feels abit strange!

I had a good sniff down the bakery isle today. Smelt lovely!

TalkinPeace2 · 05/03/2012 22:03

just got round to watching this on iPlayer

the NEAT bit is REALLY important - especially for those who are not able to go to gyms

BelinaTheChicken · 05/03/2012 22:32

Thanks Grin

Fairenuff sounds like you've put on muscle then, so you're probably toning up which is great. I'm happy with my weight loss, but it's the toning up that's the hardest bit for me, too lazy to keep up an exercise routine. Though there is a bootcmp near me that you can take babies too and somehow that works... Perhaps they use them as weights? I'd be screwed, DS2 weighs a tonne

Fairenuff · 06/03/2012 08:32

I could be toning a little bit, my waist is quite trim visible these days but I've got a lot more to do. I do find exercise for the sake of it quite boring but I'm going to play badminton tomorrow and I have bought a new swimsuit in preparation for taking the plunge. I find arm exercises tricky so both those activities should help and I can go with the dcs too, it'll be fun Smile.

I'll have a look at that link later TP. I've put bootcamp on the back burner because, as I suspected, they are all fighting fit and raring to go. A bit out of my league at the moment but possibly a long term goal. Another long term goal of mine is the climbing wall. My arms have never been strong enough to pull my overweight body up, so hopefully that will change and I will get to climb that wall! A bit like conquering the metaphorical wall of weight loss. (Or is that too deep for this time in the morning? Grin ).

Well the sun is out and it's time for me to go out too. See y'all later x

Vicky08 · 06/03/2012 22:10

Hi everyone, I've not been able to connect this week but I'm still here, I haven't abandoned the post I promise :) Last week I completly fell off the wagon and gained 1 1/2 kilos Blush Since Monday I've been really good and feel strong again. I'll read through all of your posts later.

fazsaeed · 06/03/2012 22:36

Hellooo I'm back!
Ds was kept in hospital for a week "under observation" to watch his food intake. He was having less than 500 cals a day and needs 900 at his age.

They only change they've made is to his milk. It's a high calorie milk 300 in 7oz.
Pain to give him. Have to water it down but it's stopping him from losing weight when he doesn't eat. He has round about 1/2-3/4 meal a day.
When we came back from hospital it was like he missed food and ate well but now it's going down again. He ate a bit of coco pops in the morning, few strands of plain boiled spaghetti and a few bites of chicken. For tea the kids had mc Donalds but he just chucked most of it on the floor.
He ate lil bits of kfc chicken last week so I went out and tried him with that. He would bite it and spit it out.
If he did this once a week i wouldn't be too bothered but it's once a week he eats over a meal in the day.
It's a long term problem that I can't see the end off. Before he was getting worse I wanted a few more kids but now no way.
Not until he's 'better' and I'm just so scared that the next will be like him. The stress of your child constantly not eating, losing intrest in food is horrific. He knows it hurts to eat so he's happy hungry.
He has loads of energy so what he eats he burns off quick.
I've started comfort eating hard and it needs to stop. Please help me stop the crap going in my mouth!
I need to get some healthy food in but ATM
Money is a problem as I've just had to pay loads for my other half to get over so he can help. My dad just keeps saying it's your fault he's been in hosp. I know it is because I can't see him go so many days without eating. He said take ds to the park and watch how he eats when he comes back. That didn't work either!

Well done to everyone whose lost weight!
Welcome to the newbies and thanks for remembering me

Fairenuff · 06/03/2012 22:57

Faz it is not your fault your ds went to hospital. It is not your fault that he has sn. Sometimes our parents get stuck in their 'era' and don't realise how much science and medicine has moved on and how much we know these days about conditions. In 'their day' kids with disorders like autism or adhd would have been labelled 'naughty' or their parents would be blamed for their child's unusual behaviour. We understand a lot more these days. Listen to the doctors, the experts and please do not blame yourself.

You are a wonderful mum, doing everything you can to help your boy. Just follow the professional advice and try not to worry too much. I know it's hard but we are all here to support you.

For yourself, could you make a meal plan for the week so that you know exactly what to buy and don't waste any food. We were talking about jacket potatoes earlier, they would be cheap and you can change the filling for a bit of variety. Cereal for breakfast, cornflakes or weetabix are the lowest calorie and they're quite cheap too. Frozen veg is just as good as fresh, won't spoil and supermarkets do own brand which taste pretty good. I'm sure the others will have lots more tips for you x

Good to see you back on the wagon Vicky Smile.

fazsaeed · 06/03/2012 23:10

Thank you.
That's were I go wrong. If I don't have breakfast I snack all day.
That is a major issue.
I was happy doing the salad once a day plus a healthy meal. Need to motivate myself to do it though and this is the right place to be.

I can't just sit back as I enjoy a meal while ds struggles to get past a few bites! As a mother I'm trying to help him. They said feeding tube I was kind if relived as It would stop him from being hungry and it would help him realise nOt all food = pain. With his meds he still gets pain. He's on 20mg of omeperzole a day. Same as my dad and my bro actually had same strength and tab!
I'm not getting much sleep because when he wakes up in pain or for water I obv can't sleep but when he's asleep I can't sleep as I'm worried about him: what is he going to have tomorrow, which way do I feed him etc....Thanks fairenuff

mrspepperpotty · 07/03/2012 07:15

Hi Vicky and fazsaeed, good to have you back.

Vicky, don't worry about a week's gain, you were doing so well, put that week behind you and get back on the wagon!

Faz, it sounds so stressful with your DS, I really hope things improve soon. There is an incredibly fussy eaters thread in the Behaviour & Development section that might give you some ideas / support?

Fairenuff, good luck with the swimming, it's fantastic all-over exercise.

It's my weigh in today and I've lost 2lb this week Smile. I'm very pleased as it makes up for last week which was a maintenance week.

putyourhatonsweetie · 07/03/2012 11:24

Hello all, sorry have been absent, I started my new job (woohooo) and things have been good but chaotic so this fell off my list. I lost half a kilo last week so now up to an overall loss of 8.2 - feels pretty darn good.

well done to the other losers. belina you have done really well

I am thinking of you faz. I am impressed you are ven thinking about your weight goals with all of that going on at home. hope you can manage to fing some sunshine amongst it all and it doesn't grind you down. it is certainly NOT YOUR FAULT.

TalkinPeace2 · 07/03/2012 12:29

Faz
Good to have you back but your meal descriptions really worry me
Why are takeaways part of your diet?
Why are they part of his diet?
KFC and McD are chock full of salt, fat and unhealthy carbs
he will not resettle his tummy and you will not lose weight if you are going near such things.

Rather than "meals" could you make him snacks ?
Slices of cheese, Slices of banana , Cooked chicken (I'm assuming you don't eat ham) into strips
all with ketchup or mayo to dip into
tuna mayo formed into small balls
ie finger food but high calorie but GOOD calories
pastry - mini cheese straws, grissini, stuff like that
but if the Doctors are putting him on high fat milk, then he needs dairy fats and healthy protein and lots of it
scrambled egg, hard boiled eggs, omelette

and at least if you snack with him (an important part of him learning what is good to eat) you'll not be taking in the junk that is in readymeals

fazsaeed · 07/03/2012 18:35

I cook most his meals at home but when all else fails yes I'm human we go for take out option. He's got appointment with gastric dr tomorrow so I've got lots of questions to ask. I'm happy to do the high calorie drinks short term as he's putting weight on but it's not supposed to be his main source of food which it is. He's putting weight on because of it but it's a matter of time until he's sick of it. To me this is treating symptoms not the cause. Yep that's a good way to put it :)
I'm going to write that down too lol.
Today I swapped his meals around...
Dinner at breakfast, breakfast at dinner and normal tea.
There's more cals in dinner and as he's been hungry 12 hours he will eat in the morning (8/10 breakfast is the only meal he eats) so fore it just seemed to make sense to do it like that.
I'm going to make noodles tonight for in the morning.

Some people may disagree but I have to try.

SpankyMcSparrow · 07/03/2012 18:47

Hi all,
Good job on your loss putyourhaton. Hope the new job is going well!
Well done for getting back on the wagon Vicky ! And welcome back Faz

Ill again over here :( Will catch up properly tomorrow! Am off to bed!

Vicky08 · 07/03/2012 21:20

Hi everyone,
It's good to be back. I've been really motivated this week, hoping to loose this week what I gained last week then I can kid myself that I've maintained for 2 weeks :)

Well done mrspepperpotty and putyourhaton on your loss and your new job putyourhaton.

Faz your DS's problems are definitly NOT YOUR FAULT. Please take care of yourself, your DS needs you.

Today I've had a yogurt and banana for breakfast, ratatouille, an apple and a banana for lunch, spicy prawns and brown rice for dinner.

Have a good day tomorrow everyone

Vicky08 · 07/03/2012 21:21

I hope you feel better soon SpankyMcSparrow have a Brew and an early night

Vicky08 · 08/03/2012 21:19

Hi everyone, where are you all, I'm here all alone. Today I've been on the toothache diet, my tooth is killing me and I've hardly been able to eat anything all day, I have a dentists appointment tomorrow afternoon but I'm not hopeful that it'll be that simple and the pain will go away after just one appointment :( at least I'll not be able to over eat this weekend Wink there's always a silver lining :)

fazsaeed · 08/03/2012 21:40

Awww that's horrible having toothache!
Hmmm I'm on the feel shit diet. Well actually not done too bad until now...
I have just a few minstrels.I just don't know what to do....
Consultant increases his meds as it showed he still had substantial reflux with his meds. How long is he going to have meds for??? He's been on mess since he was born 18 months on Saturday! Do I carry on with meds or ask for corrective surgery? He's in pain atleast half of the day and he's such a good boy to day he suffers so much ( ph probe tested acidity of stomach and food pipe so acid reading means pain)
I was watching a yoghurt advert and just wished ds would eat them. If he would eat baby jars ( dr advised) but nope nothing runny of a spoon!!!

SparkyMcSparrow · 08/03/2012 21:41

I'm here. Not any use though, still ill :(

Vicky Soup through a straw and smoothies! Have been there. Its not nice at all, and I hate the dentist!

TalkinPeace2 · 08/03/2012 21:46

((((faz)))))
do you do a food diary of what he actually keeps down to see what works?
a complete no no for you - but philadelphia cheese licked off fingers is great for fat, calcium and protein ....

surreal abstract diets - dentists and being poorly. bummer.
BUT
means to an end
keep drinking that semi skim milk ladies

fazsaeed · 08/03/2012 22:30

I used to keep a food diary but they never ask for it or take it seriously.
The nurses were happy that ds was eating only half the required cal intake. This is a long term problem not ooo he didn't eat today he will eat tomorrow.

bugsylugs · 08/03/2012 23:18

sorry I was gone for soo long.
faz poor little man and you of course. Is he on any other medicines than the omeprazole? operations for this have gone out of fashion not so effective, may need re doing. I assume his sphincter at base of the oesophagus is not working so great often improves as tubes get longer. Is his low pH pre or post food or both
I finally got round to jumping on the wii last week Mon and this week had lost 1 lb went from obese to overweight not back to where I was in Dec but will get there. Have shredded 3 times this week and also been to the gym and walked the dog so am shining my halo seems to be a bit addicitve.
Have caught up and everyone is doing well remember you started this as a healthy eating way of life. so that means we will all have good and bad days just the underlying trend is healthy with the benefit of weight loss to get into those jeans.

fazsaeed · 09/03/2012 04:24

He has been on ranitidine and it made him scream he's on domperidone, gaviscon just made him constipated. It was both with and without food as he went down to theatre for it to be put in plus camera down him and biopsies taken. He was in pain last night. Arching back and everything. He wanted to stay asleep but woke up because it. You seem to know your stuff on reflux. Any suggestions? Thanks
