The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions.
The Paul McKenna system works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

Please feel free to join us. We are friendly, supportive and successful but we're not hungry!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Morning all Smile good advice Phee!! also if you've finished yr main course and still don't feel full WAIT for a couple of mins before eating a pud and I guarantee you won't want that pud. I save mine for the next time i'm actually hungry and it's so much more enjoyable it fills me up!! This is difficult in a restaurant of course so I have just a main course with no carbs and just about can then manage a dessert!

Ref. wine all I find is that a couple of mouthfuls with a meal (i can't drink on an empty stomach) fills me up too quickly so I don't bother or if I want to keep DH company Hmm I always leave loads.

Sunshine Re breastfeeding: I bfed my Ds for 18 months and it was my Mum that 'persuaded' me to give up...to be fair, I was at the beginning of my illness and she just thought I was exhausting myself with bfing on demand, plus expressing...I wish I'd not listened to her actually and when I had Dd 8+ years after Ds, I had her father telling me that she should be on the bottle by 6 months Hmm and Mum telling me (when she was about 18 months) that it was about time I stopped. I had to tell her to butt out basically (think my exact words were: 'Mum, stop telling me to give it up; I'll give up when Dd and I are ready ~ and we aren't ready yet'). And so I continued Grin. Of course it did become less over time, but it was lovely and I used to feed her to sleep too until she got too big and heavy to stagger upstairs with.

As for that full signal. Most people give off a natural sigh when they are full. When I actually listen to myself, I hear it and so stop.

Im itching to go home and see if my book has arrived. Good start to today, i'm drinking a lot more than I usually do. (I hardly drink anything normally)

I have walked about two miles!

I am feeling pretty good about this today, long may it last Grin

Solo · 20/02/2012 14:48

Excellent! UB.
I too have drunk a lot more water which is not the usual for me.

OP posts:
UtterlyButterly · 20/02/2012 14:57

With me I forget to drink. Eating is easy because I love food but I can go all day and not have a drink.

I have got two big bottles of water with me and I intend to finish them before I finish work at 8 tonight.

The one thing that will be a challenege is listening to my body and realising when i'm hungry. Because I overeat I am never hungry so that will be hard at first.

Reading the thread though I can see thats perfectly normal.

Solo · 20/02/2012 15:20

Yes, I can do the same and frequently do. Having been unwell, I've eaten little, but have been drinking lots of water.

You will learn to hear your hunger :)

Going pretty well here too - was pretty controlled yesterday in the face of the black forest gateau I made for the ils. AND amazingly enough haven't so much as looked at the 2 remaining pieces in the fridge today as I WANTED an egg Mayo sarnie Grin I already feel much better 1. Because I am in control 2. Because I'm not so full up that I feel lethargic which is my normal state. Onwards and upwards Smile

UtterlyButterly · 20/02/2012 16:12

Arfur I am looking forward to feeling like that. The tiredness that comes from overeating is getting too much.

I am sat eating pineapple! Miracles do happen!!

Solo · 20/02/2012 16:21

Go girls!! :)

[groan]. Ate too much of my mum's Sunday lunch and had too many Wines over the weekend.

Ok. Back in the saddle.

Solo · 20/02/2012 16:25

Hey MB :) can I recommend the flu or a chest infection to put you off food? worked for me...

Solo · 20/02/2012 16:26

I think I'll pass Solo. But thanks for the suggestion!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 20/02/2012 16:32

Hello everyone :) Lovely to read all the positive posts from you all.

I am still really poorly, this cold just won't shift and the cough is driving me mad.

Bizarrely I have still managed to lose weight despite a weekend with my parents, eating too much cheese and being plied with Wine I have got a bit of a water-retaining bloat going on with my face though, so hoping that a few days of normal eating will get rid of that before the wedding on Saturday.

Solo · 20/02/2012 16:37

Good news re the weightloss Ali :) How is your dress fitting now? Brothers wedding postponed for us so I've got no pretty frock aim right now.
Still really ill here too. Got Dd home still. She had a full body mottled rash appear yesterday and I ended up taking her to an OOH docs; he reckoned just a viral thing. Must say, I was very worried.

Solo I had the ex telling me from the start I was being selfish BF DS1 as his other kids had been bottle fed so he could feed them Angry told him that was very nice but if he wanted to help out he could always change nappies & give baths (DS1 is now 5.5 & he's given him 3 baths in his life!) I BF til DS1 was 18 months, he had no say with DS2 as wasn't living with him at time.

As for this eating what you want....I don't eat fish, not even tuna but when I made lunch for DS2 he wanted tuna & sweetcorn sandwich but watching him eat it (wasn't quite ready for mine yet) I started to fancy it........so for the 1st time ever I had a tuna sandwich.....& I actually enjoyed it Shock followed it with a mini bag of haribo yummy :)

get well soon to all you poorly ladies.

ppeatfruit · 20/02/2012 17:43

Blimey no wonder he's yr. ex Dotty Grin what a piece of SXXX !. Also when you eat really SLOWLY you go OFF all the crap foods you've enjoyed eating fast IYSWIM!!

Sorry you're still feeling rubbish solo what 's an OOH docs? and hope yr DD is over the rash now!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 20/02/2012 19:00

Dotty what a bugger - glad you are shot of him!!

Solo - my dress is fitting brilliantly, this isn't the wedding where I am bridesmaid, still don't know what I'm wearing for that one and it is only 3 months away...

I am finding that this cold has taken away my hunger and fullness signals. I have got a rumbly belly now but feel bizarrely full at the same time, possibly something to do with snot? TMI I know, sorry Blush
I went to the supermarket earlier, before I had my lunch and even though it was cold and I felt hungry and awful I didn't buy anything snacky or grabby - no crisps, deli foods, danish, baguette to eat with butter, biscuits. Nothing. That is a major, major deal for me.

DH starts his new work tomorrow, officially working for himself (and me), but tomorrow is his first day with his first client. Poor bloke is a bit nervous!! Grin

Dotty0 · 20/02/2012 19:08

Thanks ppeat I'm guessing that when you eat slowly the crap foods taste crap whereas when you wolf it down you don't actually taste it?
(Think solo ment out of hours doc)

Solo · 20/02/2012 23:57

Ali brilliant re the dress and sorry I got mixed up. Sorry you are still unwell ~ me too! though sadly, my appetite has returned somewhat, but all I've had today is 2tbls Jordans cereal with greek style yoghurt (one this morning, one just now) and a tin of tomato and red pepper soup with a slice of wholemeal bread and a very small square of chocolate cake. Drinking lots of water :) as completely gone off tea Shock...

Yes OOH docs is the out of hours doctors surgery.

Re breastfeeding, I'm afraid that I'm very much of the opinion that is has sod all to do with anyone other than the two people directly involved!

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 21/02/2012 00:38

that's ok Solo, you can't possibly keep everyone's life details to hand! Grin

I am actually a lot better today, it is just this cough that is driving me up the wall!

Yum to Greek yoghurt, I might have that for brekkie tomorrow.

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2012 07:57

arfur · 21/02/2012 10:02

Morning all - pancakes YUM! just got in from 1st couch to 5k run/walk Blush quick shower then off to drs to have my 40+ health check appt - already had letter to say cholesterol is too high (5.2) so another target to aim at Hmm have a great day everyone and enjoy your pancakes (eaten like a gourmet Wink)

Solo · 21/02/2012 13:33

Hi all!
Was just considering going to Sainsbury in a nearby town to get a free (for today only) cholesterol check. Don't know if I can be bothered to though. We don't get 40+ health checks here...

Stood on the scales this lunchtime and I'm now 13st 3/4lb Grin so one more lb and I'll officially be 12st something!!! woo hoo!!!

How is everyone else doing?

Think I might just have a couple of pancakes for my main meal this evening...need lemons.

OP posts:
Solo · 21/02/2012 13:35

And well done arfur at getting through the 5k. No shame there! :)
