Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

I haven't seen their necks up close but I'm going to stalk them over the weekend and get a good look.

I didn't realise they were quite common and got a bit excited (through my fears of imagining them).

yehudiwho · 18/01/2012 17:26

QRgeekmum my legs feel the same- very tired and like lead- hopefully its stamina and the build up will help
jchocchip your post sounds like you saw a heron then dived straight in the river for a swim! spreadsheet out to record heron though
thederkins- you star well done you
kewcumber sorry to hear about your injury- keep us all updated and jump back in when you can -

noone has said what week 4 is like - I have to do it tomorrow so need some reassurance
oh and still the same bloody weight as when i started - think I am just greedy

noseynoonoo · 18/01/2012 18:01

I did Wk3 R1 today but almost did Wk4 by mistake. Luckily I noticed Laura mention a 5 minute run and checked i had the right one. I found it hard work but satisfying. It was over quickly which was good! It was raining and windy but I ran through it - was almost fun!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/01/2012 19:06

Hope you heal quickly Kewcumber!

I did W3R3 but did the one from my app rather than the podcast which was 2, 3, 3, 2, so an extra minute. It was my best yet but my calves were sore in the first run but ok afterwards. Eek! W4 on Friday, must be confident!!!! Let me know yehudiwho Wink

Jnice · 18/01/2012 19:26

What app do you use cinnamon?

cocoachannel · 18/01/2012 19:47

Hope it fixes soon Kew

Velma I'm with you on the step up to week four. I think five mins is a bit of a pyschological barrier as well as a physical one.

I just got on from 4.1. It wasn't too bad. I passed a lady jogging who seemed to be plugged into an app. We exchanged knowing smiles. Later I wondered if she was a MNer!

rusmum · 18/01/2012 19:53

nice to hear all you runners, my knees still paining, hopefully going to brave w2r2 tomorrow

Woodlands · 18/01/2012 20:13

I did W3R2 tonight - it was really not too hard at all. I'm beginning to see how this is going to work and make us able to run 5k by the end! I had to do the first 90 second run up a really steep hill - I had hoped it would be the end of the warm up walk but the traffic lights were against me and I had to walk on the spot for ages before it was safe to cross, and then she said to start running just as I got to the foot of the hill!

debka · 18/01/2012 20:19

Week FOUR!!! First run done tonight, it was hard work but I did it, I just ran for SIXTEEN minutes! It's run 3, walk 1.5, run 5, walk 2.5 then repeat. I got through it by desperately not thinking about the fact I was running and my legs were burning! I did punch the air when I finished Grin

Lost 4.5lbs this week too, that 3.5st in total now Grin

Good luck to all those about to go out, and well done to those who have run today.

openyerlugholes · 18/01/2012 20:39

Well done debka, that's brill!

So impressed with everyone still going.

Have had to have a break of a few days as have had terrible pain in my heel for some reason. So painful to walk let alone run.

Hoping will have eased enough tomorrow to get out for wk3 r2.

Jnice · 18/01/2012 21:03

debka that's great! Well done and thanks for the encouragement Smile

CoolRunnings · 18/01/2012 21:16

Wow debka well done! I know what you mean about punching the air, when I finish my runs I have a mini celebration with ds in his pram. He was asleep when I finished this morning and I was gutted!

thestringcheesemassacre · 18/01/2012 21:23

debka well done, it's fantastic how quickly your fitness creeps up.

I'm just back from week 5, run 2. I kicked it's arse. Yippee.
20 min run next. Holy crap.

OneLieIn · 18/01/2012 21:34

Well done Debra, week 4 calls me tomorrow night Confused. Not sure how that will go

arabellacaterpillar · 18/01/2012 22:15

did w3r2 tonight and felt really good, i'm beginning to really like this running business!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/01/2012 22:50

It's called 5K runner Jnice.

Well done Debka, glad to hear someone has survived week 4 :)

Jnice · 19/01/2012 00:20

Ah, is it possible to start on the app part way through or do you have to start at the beginning? I'm gettin a bit fed up of the music on the podcast

cinnamongreyhound · 19/01/2012 06:52

Yes you can choose which run you do, you just tell it which ones you've done. It fades your music out and pings then the guy says walk/run so no encouragement or letting you know when you're near the end, then music fades back in.

VelmaKelly · 19/01/2012 07:36

Wk4r2FINALLY completed this morning. Third attempt. As long as I think about something OTHER the fact I am running(!) I do ok.

QueenRunningGeekMum · 19/01/2012 08:40

Well done week 4 runners, I have that coming up on the weekend and am looking forward to the challenge! Good to hear it's achieveable. Out tonight for the last run of week 3, am going to blitz it I'm sure!

Debka great weight loss, well done!

Kew get better soon! We need you!

debka · 19/01/2012 09:24

velma I am just the same, just don't think about the running!

mazzi2fly · 19/01/2012 10:42

Just done Wk3r3 in the damp misting rain. At least it wasn't freezing like my last run. I did ok, so feel ready to move on to Wk4r1 on Saturday.

I haven't lost any weight yet, but maybe that's due to opening a massive tub of biscuits we got given at Christmas...Blush

Off to have a banana -must resist the biccies!

mazzi2fly · 19/01/2012 10:42

Ooops I meant Wk2r3 not Week 3. Getting a bit ahead of myself!

jchocchip · 19/01/2012 12:39

week 4 run 2 done. And I went out with dh on week1 run 1 first! Need to work on my speed as I have settled into a really slow jog...

rusmum · 19/01/2012 14:26
