Has anyone heard about the Intermittent Diet? I'm thinking of giving it a go

www.genesisuk.org/media-centre/articles/The%20Intermittent%20diet%20.html

It's not specifically for women who want to prevent breast cancer although who doesn't? The idea was to look at alternative ways of dieting to the standard calorie counting/Mediterranean diet as people find it hard and it's important for cancer prevention to keep your BMI in the heathly range.

I'm thinking of giving it a go as a part of my inevitable New Years loose weight resolution and it would be great to hear of anyone else who's done it or would like to give it a try.

My plan is to start a general 'good' diet tomorrow, throw out the booze and chocs and once the dc's are back to school at the end of the week start the intermittent diet.

hi both - am still here, still doing it 2x a week more or less (well, definitely not more Grin...)
just finishing VLCD today, but pigged out yest, think i need to do higher protein breakfasts on the normal days to help avoid this..

How are you finding it?

Has anyone done this by just eating very low-carb (ie not counting calories)

I have been doing weighwatchers and am thoroughly miserable. I spend all my life obsessing over food and starving hungry, and am lucky to lose half a pound a week (yes, I admit it I go off the rails with wine at the weekend)

Yesterday, I thought I'd try an 'Atkins' type day. I ate eggs, bacon, mushrooms and 'good quality' sauages for lunch - it was amazing, no hunger whatsoever until late in the evening, no reaching for chocolate bars when the DC came in from school.

At around 8pm had steak, cauliflower cheese, onions and mushrooms, followed by strawberries.

No food cravings, at all yesterday, and a pound off this morning. Am doing it again today

Hiya - devil not done it that way but it's true that protein keeps you full for longer.

Hope everyone's OK. I'm gaining and losing the same few pounds at the moment. They go on, they come off, they go on, they come off. I've got to try and add some exercise to the mix although when I'm not sure!

Definition of madness - doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results....

Ok, I]'ll be your experiment! Did VLCarb Mon and Tues, and just watching what I eat the rest of the week - ie being careful, but not too careful. 1.5 pounds off this week, but have a couple of 'social' things planned over the weekend, so we shall see

Hi anyone still on this? We were doing so well! Am going to restart- failed miserably on boot camp just can't do that every day and need some fruit! A tually had kept to the ID religiously for 3 months
And lost about 3 kilos then deadlines and visitors rather blew it all. Anyone want to join me or still doing this??

Good Housekeeping this month has run another article on this diet and found this site whilst researching online. Can anyone give me an update 6 months on as to how they did? Did they stick to the milky diet or did they use the no carbs? How much weight did you all lose over the six month period and did it stay off? There are meant to be great insulin benefits too, does anyone have anything to add on that? Would love to know how it all worked out.

I've started this today .

I'm going back on the wagon this week. It does work but it's really hard when there are small people to be fed around you. I had to stop because my lo was asking weird questions about my eating habits. Didn't want to freak him out. He starts school this week so it'll be easier.
