Dukan? Big con or big loss?

I've never dieted, never needed to. Mainly because my appetite kicks in and I lose all baby weight, three times. BUT not the fourthSad in fact I'm now putting it on. I'm shattered all of the time and I've never drank so much booze (der...yes I know!!)

Before children I was underweight, size 4....then after baby 1 I was pg after five months,. After dc2 I took about a year to be a small 8...(I'm short so good size), after dc3 I went back to an 8, took a year. DC4 is three and I've got back to a small ten but my clothes are tight now, I'm probably a 12...which is very fat at my height,.

Anyone think Dukan can work for someone with no willpower?

I don't really have a carb craving, but find that spicy food is much more interesting than bland. The oatbran with skimmed milk and splenda sugar is very very filling for a breakfast, and poached eggs on smoked salmon for lunch...then steak for dinner, served med rare was yummy though. Also fat free yoghurts are a bit of a saviour!! I have a few photos of some of the food I've eaten on my face book page.

I would be interested in knowing (being a nosey cawwww!)

  1. When you started and how much you lost in the attack phase
  1. how much you have lost up to now
  1. How you cope with the cruise phase once you have hit plataeu - did it last long

Thanks :+)

Posie I became your pal on FB, I love the pics!
I had king prawns in garlic for lunch with some smoked salmon on the side. I always have the oat bran for brakfast and find it very filling !
I just struggle with lunch at work and have been really pro-active and cooked two lots of fish to last me the next few days

Hi hello,
It's early days for me but am really pleased so far.
Am now on day 5 of attack & have lost 6.5lbs!!

jen127 · 12/01/2012 10:08

Day 3 of the attack and I weighed myself at the start and I have 1 stone to lose arghhh! Where did that come from. Just to put it in context I am only 5 fooot tall and that is an awful lot for me ! Ah well here goes day three ! Oat bran for breakfast and salmon for lunch followed by jelly !

PosieParker · 12/01/2012 10:09

Well shit is hitting the fan in many ways!! But am sticking to this, with a couple of hiccups.

Well done 40!! makes it all worth it to lose that much doesnt it :)

HelloOutThere · 12/01/2012 10:22

can you have sugar free jelly on the attack phase? I thought it was only on cruise

jen127 · 12/01/2012 15:21

Oh I thought I could have it in Attack ! can someone let me know as it is a bit of sanity!

siani11 · 12/01/2012 15:25

Yes Dunkan probably does work, know somebody who's on it for a fast fix but not to change her life long eating plan as you can't do this for long. Been going to Slimming World and it's fab and fits in with family menus. Don't think this Dunkan thing will make you feel too great at first.

wherearemysocks · 12/01/2012 22:46

Glad you all seem to be doing well so far. Well after 2 good days I 'failed' again yesterday, had 2 bowls of Alpen in the evenings Sad

Back on it again today though and have done well. Did 2 workouts as well to try and make up for yesterday. Hope I can keep it up now.

jen127 · 13/01/2012 08:26

40thisisit · 17/01/2012 14:13

Well done Hello! How much do you want to lose on the cruise phase? I'm back on track now & am having an extended attack phase after my not so good weekend. I have lost 6lbs in 9 days though so not all doom & gloom!

HelloOutThere · 18/01/2012 10:38

40! you have done well :) thank goodness this diet works quickly or I think i would have fallen into the sweet aisle by now

I was to get down to 12st if i can. Still big but I go really thin faced if i get any less and its not a good look :)

How about you?

helsinkihelen · 25/01/2012 13:42

Hi Guys can i join you? Did Dukan last year and lost 2 stone in 3 months. Am a fan of low-carbing and found this easy to stick to once i was in the swing of things. Had a baby recently and need to lose baby weight. Will pm you Rosei with my email address if you are still able to email the PDF. No probs if not.
Wohay - slimsville here i come :0)

Rolf · 26/01/2012 11:27

May I join? I've been doing Dukan for about 3 weeks but I didn't weigh myself until last week (too scared!) and I have about 2 stone to lose. I'm sticking to the diet but I've only lost 1lb in the past week which is very disappointing. I usually eat my body weight in chocolate and and refined carbs so I don't understand why I'm not losing weight more quickly. Probably constipation Blush.

I find the muller vanilla yoghurts satisfy my sugar cravings, but if I eat more than 2 I get palpitations. And the Activia vanilla yoghurts taste spooky to me, and leave an awful aftertaste. So I don't think sweetener is for me.

They are my only gripes with it, though. I'm finding the oat bran keeps me from feeling hungry, and I try to eat enough veggies on pv days to make up for the lack of them on pp days, so hopefully this is a diet I can stick with.
