Dukan? Big con or big loss?

PosieParker · 29/12/2011 09:30

I've never dieted, never needed to. Mainly because my appetite kicks in and I lose all baby weight, three times. BUT not the fourthSad in fact I'm now putting it on. I'm shattered all of the time and I've never drank so much booze (der...yes I know!!)

Before children I was underweight, size 4....then after baby 1 I was pg after five months,. After dc2 I took about a year to be a small 8...(I'm short so good size), after dc3 I went back to an 8, took a year. DC4 is three and I've got back to a small ten but my clothes are tight now, I'm probably a 12...which is very fat at my height,.

Anyone think Dukan can work for someone with no willpower?

I want bread!

Today was yoghurt and oatbran for breakfast, prawns with marie rose sauce (fat free yoghurt, tiny bit of tomato sauce and worchester sauce mixed together) and steak with pepper sauce (fat free yoghurt and pepper) for supper. Now sat staring at the remains of the Christmas cake............

WentworthMillerMad · 05/01/2012 21:39

Am finding this v tough. Need to stick at it and lose that last stone. So many treats in the house, craving glass wine. Know this will pass. Grrrrttttt

PosieParker · 05/01/2012 22:26

Well last night following a huge steak for lunch and a diet coke a bit fast, I had chronic trapped wind and vomited. Lesson not learned I had a blackened Cajun chicken breast with a diet coke and got wind again. I'm talking can't move wind, feel in incredible pain wind. But I only have two more days! Oh and tonight the senocot I took last night for trapped wind have worked way too well. Feeling disgusting, bad breath. But feel better than the roller coaster of sugar I have had in the last few months.

Snapespeare · 05/01/2012 23:27

Sorry you're feeling rubbish posie. My breath is sodding awful, so I'm helping it along with some silverskin pickles, 'as a condiment' to Chase the ham that makes David Cameron look vaguely humanoid.
I dream of salad. I reckon I can keep attack up until Saturday. Maybe Sunday.

WentworthMillerMad · 06/01/2012 16:36

Feeling much better today. My attack is over now as have been on this since October.
Roast chicken with my coleslaw tonight. A few mixed nuts.
Eggs, mushrooms and turkey rashers for breakfast.
Next protein day is Monday - yuk!

PosieParker · 06/01/2012 16:38

Pooooooo weighed myself today (4 days in) and I've only lost two lbs.....Sad

OP posts:
Snapespeare · 06/01/2012 23:01

PosieParker · 07/01/2012 08:37

40thisisit · 08/01/2012 10:13

Right am properly joining you guys now!! I've read the book & am ready to go. Am well cross with myself as tried to have a good week before starting and put on 3.5lbs!!!!
So just had vanilla fat free yog with oatbran for b'fast.
How long on average do your attack phases last?

choux · 08/01/2012 12:53

I have started as well - just eaten my first oat bran galette with smoked trout (less fat than smoked salmon)

The oat bran galette was ok but could have done with some flavouring. Has anyone got any ideas for spicing it up? I didn't even add salt so that alone might make it better!

My attack phase is supposed to be 3 days as only want to lose just over a stone (am 5' 5 and weigh 10'6). Pierre Dukan says I'll be there in 63 days however he doesn't know how little willpower I have! Am already planning a glass of red wine with my steak tonight Blush On the upside I did go for a 30 min run this morning Smile

whojamaflip · 08/01/2012 15:10

weigh in this morning - 2lbs lost in 4 days despite not sicking very well to diet

Posie - just ordered 30 day shred on Fri - great minds and all that! Smile

PosieParker · 08/01/2012 18:05

Well, I haven't begun it. Waiting for DH to be back at work. I am going to way myself on Tuesday....

I had a very yummy chicken breast stuffed with chilli flakes, soft cheese and wrapped in ham.. Very nice.

4 people in my family have done it and lost between them about 8 stone!!!

Snapespeare · 09/01/2012 12:04

well done hello! :)

I am sticking to it (excepting the odd glass of wine) & ordered scales from littlewoods. had prawn stir fry last night whilst watching sherlock, was yummy! galette this morning with a with a slice of turkey rasher & a tub of mueller light...some chicken satay for lunch, hoping for steak for dinner.

wherearemysocks · 09/01/2012 14:34

Hello everyone, can I join you too. I need some motivation.

I was doing well before Christmas, but then fell off the wagon big time (put on 7lbsBlush).

I've tried a few times over the last 10 days or so to get back on it but I keep failing and end up having a sandwich grrr.

So today I've had a gelatte and some ham for breakfast. Had a handful of nuts for a snack (I know not strictly Dukan, but I think they are considered good fats aren't they?) And just had prawns and scrambled eggs for lunch and a fat free vanilla yogurt.

I have done the school run, which is 1 mile walk each way, and will do it again in a while and I have done L1 shred.

My problem though are the evenings. I need to stay away from the kitchen cupboards!!

When I did it before I have lost iirc about 1.5 stone. I found though that I would plateau after that, I pretty much worked out that I think I was having too many yogurts, as even the fat free one seem to have a lot of hidden sugar in them, so I will try and limit those this time.

I'm hoping joining you girls will help me with motivation.

40thisisit · 10/01/2012 13:43

Hi whereare my socks!
Well I'm feeling very motivated. I started the attack phase on Sunday & weighed 12 4, this morning only on day 3 am 12 1!!!!! Really hope I can keep this up and hope you are all doing well

HelloOutThere · 10/01/2012 13:56

thanks snapespeare :) down to 13st 9 today and completely lost my appetite - very unsual for me to have to force food down!!

Anyone else find they just feel full all the time?

PosieParker · 10/01/2012 14:06

Bollocks, just eaten sweets last night and four chocolate fingers this morning. Sad Anyhoo....joining a free running club tonight.

vitaminC · 10/01/2012 14:31

Can I join you? I started today, albeit approximatively (no oatbran, but had bran flakes for breakfast, does that count, lol?). I haven't bought the book but have read quite a lot on the web and have a friend who lost 8kg last summer on Dukan.

I weighed 73.3kg this morning (was 65 until a year ago, then suddenly started gaining for the first time ever!). Dukan thinks I should weigh 63.6...

I'm killing two birds with one stone, as my fridge/freezer is dying, so I need to eat up everything out of my freezer this week! Lots of fish in there, which is lucky.

So, for lunch I had mozzarella (no tomatoes :( ) and then some (fatless) grilled duck breast (I know, not strictly Dukan, but it needed eating and it's protein).

I have a load of chicken bits I'm boiling up right now into chicken soup/stock. Is soup allowed?

vitaminC · 10/01/2012 14:33

wherearemysocks I hear on you the evenings thing - my problem is overeating in the afternoon, if I'm working from home! I've been trying to go to the public library, with just my work and a bottle of water, to avoid temptation, because if I stay at home during the day, I can't stop raiding the fridge and cupboards! Blush

PosieParker · 10/01/2012 17:20

Hi, yes of course. I am on facebook, the only Posie Parker I think!!
I am posting pics of food and so on.

WentworthMillerMad · 10/01/2012 20:35

Hi everyone - I am on the other Dukan thread but hope I can pop in and say hi and pinch your ideas!
I also eat duck like you did vitamin as a change.
Really determined to stay on track after one carb filled
Christmas!
I think soup is good on PV days? ?

wherearemysocks · 10/01/2012 23:17

Well 2 days in a row done. Starting to feel more positive already.

I had a good day today, I was on an all day course for our new computer systems at work and I managed to swerve the biscuits Smile. I drank loads of water though instead and so had to keep running off to go to the loo!

We had lunch there as well (in a pub) and I managed to find something that didn't seem too bad on the menu, warm goats cheese salad with balsamic dressing.

So feeling good for the rest of the week and I'm going to make sure hopefully that I have time to Shred too.

Keep up the good work everyone.

PosieParker · 11/01/2012 11:32

Hi, well I stiull haven't weighed myself again. But did start my couch to 5km last night, ran 5k!! (ahem, walked ran and did a drill in the middle) with a free running club and found a lovely team mate to do it twice a week outside the club!!

OP posts:
jen127 · 11/01/2012 11:48

Day 2 2 dukan and day 2 of Shred ! Does anyone have any suggestions for beating the desire for pasta??
I love pasta and really miss it! I have lots of meat in the freezer from Xmas and plan on using that up during my attack period and then the left overs on PV days.

Does anyone struggle with the nice pics in the Dukan recipe books and then your's turns out nothing like it visually , or is it my cooking !!!
