Dukan? Big con or big loss?

PosieParker · 29/12/2011 09:30

I've never dieted, never needed to. Mainly because my appetite kicks in and I lose all baby weight, three times. BUT not the fourthSad in fact I'm now putting it on. I'm shattered all of the time and I've never drank so much booze (der...yes I know!!)

Before children I was underweight, size 4....then after baby 1 I was pg after five months,. After dc2 I took about a year to be a small 8...(I'm short so good size), after dc3 I went back to an 8, took a year. DC4 is three and I've got back to a small ten but my clothes are tight now, I'm probably a 12...which is very fat at my height,.

Anyone think Dukan can work for someone with no willpower?

its low carbing isn't it?

bit disturbed that you think your 5"1 size 12 and fat though

im back on the low carbing wagon after a shitty couple of months

rosieposey · 02/01/2012 23:42

Hi Posie, could you send me the PDF for this diet at all please? I'm a type 2 diabetic and I want to try and eat less carbs (and sugar related products) as my control is very bad.

A side bonus would be to lose weight :) but I'm more interested in getting my blood glucose down and you never know, the 5 stone might just melt away with less carbs and lower fat eating.

I'd like to read it as am curious about it then join you all if I may, well done to those who have given up the evil weed - that's next on my hit list as l too saw my aunt die a horrid death from smoking. I did stop but have been super stressed the last year so started again ( not good :()

doggydaft · 03/01/2012 01:53

Bit of a cheek but could you possibly pm it to me as well posie. I have been sitting here trawling the net for info on Dukan and wondering if I could manage it.
It seems so strict but would be worth it if the results are as good as promised. Need to do something about the ever increasing size of my arse Sad

PosieParker · 03/01/2012 08:02

you need to pm your email!

Custy I don't have huge breasts and am fatter than ever!

Snapespeare · 03/01/2012 14:59

is that bad or good? I would be DELIGHTED to be 10st 13!

lechatnoir · 03/01/2012 14:59

ok is that a 'wow i've lost half a stone in 3 days' gasp or a 'shit the bed I thought I was only 9st' gasp Grin

PosieParker · 03/01/2012 15:01

Shit the bed prior to dcs I was 6 stone!! I am only 5'2"!!! Would look best at around 7st7lb.

lechatnoir · 03/01/2012 15:10

Oh dear depressing isn't it:( Have you started? You'll be feeling a lot more positive within a week or two once you seen the numbers drop a bit I promise you.

PosieParker · 03/01/2012 15:11

I hope so!!! It's the not fitting in nice clothes that's the real pig, tbh. I was never so concerned about weight, I rarely weigh myself.

OP posts:
trickydickie · 03/01/2012 22:31

Remind me Posie (can I call you that Grin). Is it today you are starting the diet? If so, how is it going?

PosieParker · 03/01/2012 23:23

YY. I started today.

Oatbran and yoghurt for breakfast
Smoked Salmon and eggs for lunch
Beef for dinner plus two yoghurts
2 cups of tea
600ml diet coke
500ml tap water.

First ever diet, day one.....it's okay. Struggles tonight with no wine, chocolate etc. Even had a huge row with DH. As a proper sugar fiend I expect to be hit hard this week.

Hi
I did this last year and lost about 10lbs which for myself being 5 ' was a massive loss. ( Well I impressed myself) I found that you were not hungry but could get a little bored if you did not vary your food.
Tesco's sell oatbran in their serial aisle next to the porridge etc in our local store and also next to the whole food aisle.
I have also started 30 day shred !
I also miss the alcohol when I am on this diet but I imagine all diets are similair though ! No wine !!!
I found the effects of this diet quickly evident and this is a real motivator. Of the 10lbs lost I have put about 4 back on and now want to lose all I have to lose and also to tone my body! ( Don't want much do I ! )
Anyhow best of luck to everyone!
One of my favourite meals was these meatballs I have included the recipe.

Snapespeare · 04/01/2012 17:44

Thanks Jen for those Daily Mail recipes - they all look delicious!

Lots of steak and eggs today for me - had some chicken thighs at lunch, they were very fatty :( didn't eat skin, but they were oozing with fat... blurgh. have switched from vanilla fat free mueller to strawberry. this is probably a terrible thing to do - can't face the vanilla one. do we think thisis a hideous mistake & the last three days have been pointless?

How long are you all thinking of staying in the attack phase? I am dreamingh of salad. I reckon five days is my limit. maybe seven...

TimeForSomeAction · 04/01/2012 18:35

Snape if you enter your details here www.dukandiet.co.uk/ it will tell you your true weight and how long you should stay on the attack phase for.

HTH

Snapespeare · 04/01/2012 18:38

that would involve weighing myself to start with. am scared. maybe in a week or so!

I think I am at the top end of the reccomended range - I'm large of frame - to be honest I'm kinda happiest at a size 12/14 so 'ideal' weight isn't so much of an issue as ideal size...

I'm going to have to weigh myself aren't i? ugh. horrors! :) (thanks time!)

ednurse · 04/01/2012 18:39

Started again today Grin

Snapespeare · 04/01/2012 18:39

time you are my internet fairy of all that is wise today! Wink

WhatstheScenario · 04/01/2012 18:39

I have tried Atkins and Dukan and Low Carbing, but they make me feel ill after about 5 days. Headachey, nauseous, no energy.

You can lose weight very quickly on them (I lost 10 lbs in a week over the summer following Dukan) but they are unsustainable ad so, for me, not workable.

Low GI is better and I can lose 3-4 lbs a week on it. Porridge for breakfast, Lean protein and veg for lunch + Lean protein, veg and a small portion of wholemeal/wheat carbs for dinner. Much more do-able longer term.

TimeForSomeAction · 04/01/2012 18:42

I aim to please snape, I aim to please.

Next, I shall be encouraging you to face your fears and do it anyway!! Grin Running away does not get you where you need to be, which is ahead. Now, you can step on the scales, note down your weight and tell yourself that this will be the last time you will weigh that amount or, you can bury your head in the sand for another week and still have to weigh yourself anyway Grin

PosieParker · 04/01/2012 19:16

Just spent the last hour throwing up. Don't know whether it's the huge steak I had at lunch and diet coke I gulped or a bug. But I had crippling wind....yuck. Anyway will continue with litres of water for the rest of the night.

OP posts:
PosieParker · 04/01/2012 19:21

I should do first phase for 5 days where I lose 4lbs! Then onto 19 May to get to true weight, 8 stone.

Hi dukaners, am on the other thread that I started last October. Wanted to say hi and flit to both. Am back on after a 10 day break for Xmas. Doing 2 attack days then some PV days.
Have to say as I got closer to goal I stopped doing all pP days and did 7 days PV and still lost weight - lots of walking. I even cheated with the a few gin and slims, olives in brine and almonds. Still lost weight.
Back on strict Dukan until I shed Xmas weight.
Sooooo windy in Scotland that I had to miss my walk today!

Snapespeare · 05/01/2012 10:52

aparently my dukan true weight is 11st 7 and I will get there on June 16th if I start today.... attack phase of 6 days(? can't honestly remember, only looked at it two minutes ago..)

my breath stinks.
constipation is a slight probelm(!) (more water!!) (mustn't forget oatbran!)
today I have roast beef left overs, two eggs for breakfast, some pepperee mackeral and a coupe of yoghurts. :) fantasizing about lettuce! not that bothered about potatoes or fluffy white bread.
