I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

I'm quite intrigued by this all-you-can-eat sw program! Do they do an online version also? As I sit here half starving......

I am still with you ladies! I purchased the online meal plan I mentioned last week and so far so good. I am on day 2. hahahaha I like it though, it's food that is very quick to make and most things only make one serving which works out perfectly for me. Usually I make these things that give you 6 servings and 5 servings are downstairs in the freezer! No tracking or thinking about what I will eat each meal, I just follow the plan.

I went to my whole body vibration thing every day last week, it's not bad. I can't decide if I like it or not! Then on Sunday I noticed my left leg has gone numb-ish. It isn't totally numb, just kind of tingly, it seems to be fairly normal strength-wise but it's definitely not normal sensory-wise, I can't feel that the car seat is cold for instance. I went to the vibration place yesterday again to see if it would help but if anything it's worse so I am not doing anything right now. Of course it could be totally unrelated, I sit for most of the day and I usually have that leg under me so it could be a result of bad posture (although funny it should cause an issue now!). I am making a conscious effort to sit up straight with both legs on the floor to see if I can get it sorted out.

And that's me! Well done to everyone for staying on track, or getting back on track after a petit lapse. ;)

MABS · 24/01/2012 16:31

could you Five? :) or as Mom said, do they do online?

fivegomadindorset · 24/01/2012 16:35

Yes they do do online, just taking DCs trampolining and then will do a quick run down.

notveryinventive · 24/01/2012 17:37

I went to SW in 2010 and did the easy option (cant remember the exact name, but it was EE in shorthand) and ate loads of pasta. I used half a syn by putting a little pesto in for flavour and it was lovely. I lost a stone in about 10 weeks. I am quite shy and not very good with faces so I didnt really talk to anyone. In the end it worked out I was paying a fiver just to get weighed so gave up :(

In my meetings though it was you pay, get weighed then listen to the person running it give you a few tips amongst all the clapping people for weight loss or just starting or gaining (to give encouragement) so all we seemed to do is clap and listen to mainly the lady running it, but also a few of the more vocal members. The plan worked for me, but not this particular meeting group. I am considering starting again when I move next month.

Just been naughty and bought a kit-kat chunky orange. I only popped in for some mushrooms for tea and there was this big display by the tills. I couldnt help myself. Though I have still kept under my calories to maintain weight so its not too bad.

MABS · 24/01/2012 18:08

thanks, very interesting re SW

lydiathetattooedlady · 24/01/2012 18:57

mabs they do sw online but it's quite expensive and you don't get the books. I think its £60 (upfront)for 3 months which works out the same as the classes if you were to go weekly.

Im toying with sw again after all the yummy free food. I did eat a lot more cooked from scratch food, whereas with ww you can fit junk food in to it (hence sundays mcdonalds!)

If you just went to one class you'd get all the books you'd need and not have to go again, then just buy the magazine!

fivegomadindorset · 24/01/2012 19:20

Right MABS here we go

1 choose your free foods, most of your food should come from here, don't have to weigh.
2 healthy extras
3 syns

Superfree foods nearly all fruit and veg as much as you like whenever you like, fresh or frozen. Fill 1/3 of your plate with them and first choice between meals.

Free foods - starchy vegetables and pilses, baked beans etc, rice, pasta, grains, eggs, some dairy products - quark, fat free cottage cheese and yougurts, vegetable proteins and meat replacement. Again Fill 1/3 of your plate with these at meal times

Also free - meat and poultry lean cuts, game, offal, most fish but not those canned in oil.

Stocks are free, some accompanimets, tea, coffee low cal drinks, low cal cooking spray.

So this is the basis of the diet.

Added to this you can choose two healthy extras per day from a) and b)

a) dairy so milk and cheese, I don't drink milk so I will have 3 babybel light as a snack in the day.

b) cereals and crispbreads (most) some cereal bars, some bread (i love the small granary loaf) dried, canned and cooked fruit, some soupd and olive oil.

And then there are the syns between 5 and 15 a day (large glass of wine is 9)

Typically I would have a bowl of 30g museli with a pot of fat free youghurt and a banana for breakfast, homemade soup for lunch and then meat/fish, veg and a carb of some sort.

My syns tend to be wine and olive oil, if I don't drink I am way within 15 points a day.

It is working, I can feel it, I am due on this week or next so am having the munchies but it is under control.

Today for breakfast I had 3 rashers of lean bacon, beans, grilled mushrooms and scrambled eggs with splash of milk - free.

Lunch was pasta, grilled chicken, peppers, sweetcorn and onion - free

I did have one piece of granary bread with spread - 1.5 cyns

2 babybel lights

Supper is vegetable biryani and I know that it will have 1 tbsp of oil so 6 cyns.

Total cyns is 7.5.

The idea is that you eat until you are satisfied and you shouldn't be craving food which is what I found on WW. My snacking between meals has hugely gone down.

It may be worth signing up for one meeting get all the bumpf, go a couple of times to get weighed and then slowly drop out.

Like notvery the meetings tend to be a bit happy clappy hence the staying after weighing once a month to show willing, what is good is having support here and in RL as doing it with a friend. Last week we lost nearly a stone between us.

I have strayed hugely at weekends but have found doing SW much easier to get back into then WW as essentially the food has been OK the wine however has flowed.

Hope that helps.

MABS · 24/01/2012 19:34

thanks so very very much

fivegomadindorset · 25/01/2012 07:20

Morning all, scales wre encouraging this morning, 3 lbs down. Will see what the official ones say this wvening.

StaceymAloneForver · 25/01/2012 09:13

good on you five, hope the official scales say the same/more weight loss

well my new goal is to be able to do this blooming dress up myself, and not have to be crow-barred into it by a friend Wink we shall see, have a family social this weekend and then a girls weekend away next weekend (including mini hen do) so alcohol will be present at both fingers crossed i don't put on weight!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 25/01/2012 09:21

Wow well done five, that's brilliant!

My scales had gone a bit haywire this morning, not sure if the battery is getting low or what but they started off giving really low readings (4lb loss overnight which I can't quite believe!), then one really high reading - but the only one that came up more than once was about 1lb down since Sunday, so I'm hoping that is right Grin

My appetite has been a bit down because of being poorly, so I have been eating quite well and only used a few of my weekly points, plus AF came, so I would expect to have lost a bit. I am missing the exercise though, hope to shift this cough soon so I can get back to it as I think it was making a lot of difference for me!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 25/01/2012 10:52

morning all, well have lost another 2lb that makes 11 in two weeks! (I always lose loads the first week) for those asking about SW just to add to what's been said. It works, you should never feel hungry or deprived and you can eat almost anything. Yes its online too and meetings are like any other slimming club meeting really, weigh in, have a chat with other members then have a short presentation from leader, lots of support if you can cope with the 'happy clappy' type atmosphere, you get lots of good ideas for new recipes clarify stuff you are not sure of, have a raffle and get encouragement and awards as you progress. saying that, unless you get a fun leader and a good crowd it takes a bit of getting used to, I used to cringe through a lot of it. Like five says join for a few weeks or so to get the basics in your head then go it alone if you think you can do it without the support. I do not go anymore in fact I have not been for years but just dragged out all my old books and carry on with what I know works. The magazines you can buy from a newsagent every couple of months are good for inspiration and new recipes to try out. I find it family friendly too and it really is just about reeducating yourself to a sensible lifestyle of proper eating. starving does no good as your body thinks it is starving and so stores fat in fact when I first went to class I was still in the less means more loss and actually had to be told to eat more as it wasn't coming off Confused did not believe it but she was right, the following week I lost. I too can answer questions to help out if you want to know anymore. five and I together should open a class!! Smile

CotherMuckingFunt · 25/01/2012 13:25

Well done on all the losses Smile

I would love to do SW (I like eating Grin) but with PCOS I have to stay away from carbs and as they form most of the free foods it just doesn't work for me. I had the same problem with WW - I used to make my points up with carbs as they were 'allowed' and I couldn't eat enough protien to get near to my points allowance. So I'm basically making my diet up as I go along, eliminating foods as they cause a problem and eating more of the foods that seem ok.

I'm also living off mandarines atm. Lidl were selling 2.3kg for 2? and they're satisfying my sweet cravings.

I gained 3 new pairs of trousers this morning without having to spend any money! They were ones that I'd bought that I've never been able to fit into until now so that must mean that I've lost a dress size and am now a 14 waist. Yay! We'll gloss over the size 18 tops and pretend I have dainty boobs

MABS · 25/01/2012 13:42

big boobs are a blessing Cother ;-) well do all on the great weigh losses. did pt ystdy and very good with food, today pump and tennis lesson, will be good with food too i hope x

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 25/01/2012 15:16

well done cother have you thought of contacting sw via their website to see if they do a version for non carb? lots of the free food on a red day ie: meat, vegs, salad, yoghurt, cott cheese, eggs, etc aren't carbs... are they? just the green day stuff like rice, potatoes, pasta you would have to avoid.

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2012 17:28

hi everyone
you lot talk too much, I can't keep up :o
Diet is going through a bad patch at the moment
Will catch up with the thread and then post

OP posts:
CotherMuckingFunt · 25/01/2012 17:46

Step I would but I'm too lazy! I seem to have found a way of eating that's working atm so I'll stick with this until I plateau. Tonight's dinner was bolognese in a red pepper while the family had pasta with theirs. I didn't even miss the pasta as I'm finally seeing results. I lose all will power if nothing changes but getting into those trousers has made it all worth while.

I will be indulging in a vodka tonight though so that can be my treat.

MABS · 25/01/2012 18:28

enjoy your vodka :)

fivegomadindorset · 25/01/2012 19:39

Woo hoo, 2.5 off so 6 in total in 2 weeks, my friend who started at the same time has lost 10lbs.

I need to stay clear of sugar free polos though because while they are a good filler, they must also contain some sort of laxitive as I was farting like a trooper today and my stomach was making some very strange noises.

DHs birthday today so steak, french fries, caesar salad and wine tonight. But have a couple of very quiet weekends coming up which should hopefully keep me on the straight and narrow. Aiming to lose a stone by my birthday which is 19th Feb.

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2012 23:57

Well done to all the losers :) my diets gone a bit to pot and I can feel the warning signs that its all starting to slide. Might get the shreed dvd to try to keep motivated and see some results

OP posts:
CotherMuckingFunt · 26/01/2012 07:16

Well done five - loving the polo issues. I'm having the same as I seem to have rather overdone the manderines Blush

I totally forgot to have my vodka last night - I was too busy doing sit ups and weights Shock. Today I'm wearing one of the pairs of trousers I've managed to shrink into and I can sit down and breathe at the same time!

Now I just need to avoid what normally happens at this point - I start losing weight, get happy and content, relax a bit and naughty stuff starts creeping back into my diet and I ruin it all.

I will stay strong, honest

fivegomadindorset · 26/01/2012 07:23

That is excellent news cother. Just remember that we are here to give you a godd kick up your rapidly shrinking backside when you get to lax.

CotherMuckingFunt · 26/01/2012 07:50

Grin I'll hold you to that

StaceymAloneForver · 26/01/2012 09:19

i drank a bottle of wine last night Blush but tbh it was needed, a friend was in crisis so i had to drink wine with her, i did eat a good dinner tho and avoided pudding so i hope i didnt do too much damage.

waist still measures 29" keep having to pinch myself and make sure that's real, can't quite believe it!

had a day off shred yest as i felt the need to burn my legs with bolognaise (don't ask) but did still go to zumba, but right back on it today prob later when i don't feel like i'm gunna hurl!!

well done Cother and stealth get the shred, i feel stronger and it's even helped with my zumba, i'm able to do an hour a lot easier :)

CotherMuckingFunt · 26/01/2012 11:35

Stacey 29"??? That is only a long and distant dream for me! Well done!
