I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

Ok a bit of diversification, a man has been arrested for attempted murder having driven a fuel tanker into a bungalow next door to DD's school. Some excitement at last in our neck of the woods.

Chilli tonight. And wine.

MABS · 20/01/2012 17:57

terrible Five! you need wine after that! I didn't see the Mars Bar for long SPB, but you know what, didn't even really enoy it..

lydiathetattooedlady · 20/01/2012 19:05

Hi, i've been so good this week and have lost 1lb, even though my official weigh in isn't til sunday im doing it today as ive had a s**t day and am going to consume a bottle of wine tonight and a curry tomorrow! Quite pleased with the 1lb off as its only 5 days and it was my sisters birthday on sunday which involved cake and party food!

My business has had a theft that at retail value will cost us about £200 in sales. Im so pissed off as it will have been done by a customer right under my nose.

It is also my dads birthday tomorrow night and we're having the traditonal birthday curry. I'm going to try and stick to a chicken tikka mian rather than masala-but what could i have with it to make it less dry??

mabs and stealth i feel your pain especailly after they day ive had. Im trying to decide what to have for my dinner to wash my bottle of wine with!

I said to myself when i started my weighloss that 1lb a week is healthy and more likely to stay off so im using this to keep me motivated.

Now where's my corkscrew it's Wine 'o' clock!

lydiathetattooedlady · 21/01/2012 07:04

make that another lb off so that makes 2 this week! I fell asleep before i reached the bottom of my first pint glass of wine!

redstormrising · 21/01/2012 08:17

Don't be unhappy MABS and others for a slip up! It must have been the day for it. I had a massive crisis at work, rushed out for lunch on the go (a glorious, stinky, greasy kebab) and enjoyed it so much that I went out at 3 and got another one! Then fish fingers for tea. Blush

I am back on it today. My official WI is Tuesday, so i am hoping to correct any slides............

but probably not as I will be working all weekend.... and so will think i deserve wine/fish and chips/wine

morecoffeepleaseholdthecake · 21/01/2012 09:18

Hi everyone!

I have just had my breakfast and resisted toast (my downfall) as I can only eat it when it has lashings of clover/butter on it Hmm

I am keeping motivated (just).made a lovely curry last night instead of getting a take away. It was lentil, sweet potato and aubergine. And I had no beer with it! Wink

Got a weekend working nights this weekend.... so no gym this weekend.

I have dug out a pair of jeans which I love.but I am currently 2 sizes to big for them :( hopefully it will keep me motivated.

kate actually,we are still ttc but we are not going over the top with it IYSWIM? If it happens it happens other wise we will be spending a month in the bedroom when we get back from our holiday.which would at least be a good cardio workout if nothing else Grin I am dieting, but eating very healthily and I'm still taking pregnacare in the hope it does happen!

notveryinventive · 21/01/2012 09:21

Ive been doing rubbish and still havent lost anything. Must.Try.Harder.

Though Ive not put any weight on either so its not all bad and with doing the 30 day shred I do feel a bit toner. Just need to sort my eating habits out. I have changed some things (cut down on fizzy drink, swapped crisps for apples and not eating on a night), but I know I need to do more. My problem is when Im out and about I'll pop into a cafe for a hot chocolate and a cake. Need to sort that one out, but when it comes to summer it will be too warm for that.

Once I move Im going to start SW I think too.

Just need to lose those 4lbs to get less than 12 stone. I also want to be able to get into my size 14 jeans easily (I can squeeze them on, but they are a little tight ATM) Thats my goal for the end of Feb.

MABS · 21/01/2012 09:47

sorry many of you had slip ups, but makes me feel a bit better, make any sense!? too much wine last night, food was ok though.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 21/01/2012 10:01

I am feeling fat today but think it is because we went for a (rare) meal out last night, I was going to try and have something fairly healthy but all the healthier options I fancied weren't in the early deal so ended up with pizza, oh well! Also I'm about to come on, so probably a bit bloated because of that. So hopefully it's just a temporary blip.

I did shred again though after the meal, level 2 again and was trying hard so it nearly killed me! so hopefully that will also do some good.

MABS · 21/01/2012 10:17

well done re Shred Inigo!

StealthPolarBear · 21/01/2012 10:45

Well last night was a write off. Best part of a bottle of wine, pasta, pesto, garlic bread, chic mousse, bar of cadbury caramel. Oh well, today will be better

Hello, have been lurking on this thread for a while and wondered if I could join in? In the last 18 months I've put on about 10lbsin the past 18 months and would like to lose this, plus another 1/2 stone.

I'm doing the Genesis UK mediterranean-style 1500 calorie diet, which is basically reduced carbs, more protein, less fat. I've been doing it about a week and finding it really hard on some days and easy-peasy on others. Last night I had a slip-up and had small piece of chocolate guinness cake (god, it was good), two glasses of full-fat coke and 4 black magic Blush Sad

I currently don't own any scales so I can only weigh myself when I go to friend's houses Grin. Should I get some do you think? DH thinks they might be discouraging if I way myself too frequently (which I will) and haven't lost anything. So I don't know whether I've lost anything BUT my jeans feel looser already and this morning I tried on a dress which I wore at Christmas and could only do up with lots of tugging and the help of dh Grin I can now do it up myself fairly easily, which has got to be a good thing, right?

I feel starving hungry today, have had two poached eggs on wholemeal toast but am eyeing up the biscuit tin longingly Sad Tomorrow we're off to a 40th birthday party which will undoubtedly involve bread and cake which I find very hard to resist Angry

Wishing everyone a day of strong will-power Smile

MABS · 21/01/2012 13:54

Hi Daisy - welcome :) I don't have scales either, but weigh on Tues at gym. your diet sounds tasty.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 21/01/2012 21:05

Hm think I might be having a day or two off... feel like I am getting a huge cold, my chest is really tight and neck/shoulders really achy (though I think that is partly from the shred yesterday, but not all!). DD also has an ear(s) infection, and DH is meant to be getting up early tomorrow too, so probably won't get to catch up on sleep much either... So am going to have a nice long hot bath instead of exercising tonight, and then will have to see how it goes.

I did eat quite well for most of the day, had some really healthy meals... unfortunately I also had a voucher for a cupcake shop to redeem, so that has put a big dent in my points Grin but hey, if I'm ill I'm allowed, right?

Hi Daisy and welcome to our hungry merry band!

fivegomadindorset · 21/01/2012 21:19

Hi Daisy.

Chinese has been consumed tonight as we had DD's birthday party today and quite frankly I am shattered. No alcohol though.

StaceymAloneForver · 22/01/2012 09:14

Hi everone, please don't get disheartened, it's hard to change years of habit, it doesn't happen overnight and you need to give yourselves credit for the wonderful things you have achieved!!

Well yest I got my dress done up!! It looks tight but it does up, which is brill, so now have two weeks to tone up and get rid of my back cleavage! Urgh!

And big high five to all those doing shred, I am pretty fit normally and by god I ache after 2 days!! Means it's doing the job though!

notveryinventive · 22/01/2012 09:29

Im in shock. My weigh in day is a sunday, but as Ive been having a couple of bad days Ive weighed myself a couple more times over the last week and I was the same, but today I weighed myself and I have lost a whole lb since last week. I only got on the scales this morning to see how much I gained and I actually lost Who would have thunk it? (BTW I know the real word isn't thunk its just something I say when I am like this Shock)

So definately feel better now for it and it has made me more determined again.

Well done on the dress Stacey, you are doing fab. Shredding is easy once you get into it, though Ive not got onto L2 yet so we'll see.

keep up the good work everyone, we'll get there in the end we will.

DaisySteiner · 22/01/2012 09:52

Morning everyone and thanks for the welcome. Congratulations on the dress Stacey, what event is it for? (had a quick hunt but couldn't see) Well done notveryinventive, how much more do you have to lose?

I was pretty good yesterday, resisted the evil chocolate cake when serving it up to the dcs. I had to watch them all scoffing home-made pizza while I had a miserable chicken breast and salad Sad If dh had remembered to buy wholemeal flour I could have had some too Angry Still, I only nabbed a tiny piece and a couple of crusts Grin Party this afternoon thought which will be hard. Off for a dog walk in a minute though if the rain holds off!

MABS · 22/01/2012 10:00

well done notveryinventive, and Stacey - bet the dress will be too big in two weeks :)

was at party last night and several large vino i'm afraid BUT i avoided the buffet totally. note to self, eat something when drinkin, feel rubbish today..

redstormrising · 22/01/2012 10:19

Morning everyone!

LOTS of wine yesterday plus a roast lunch (meant to be the big meal of the day) followed by pizza for dinner. Oh well.

This week I am committing to;
weetabix, yoghurt and fruit for breakfast
veg soup or a no-mayonnaise salad sandwich and fruit for lunch
lean protein and steamed veg for dinner

and no alcohol.

:)

I can do it. In 5 weeks I am going to the postponed family reunion and I want to be 9 stone 10. I want to be slimmer, but at the same time if I am I know that DM and DAunt will comment 'approvingly' and that drives me batty. The first thing they always talk about is if I have put on or lost weight- and are disapproving or approving accordingly, and i hate it. I am more than my weight, and I hate been 'approved' of. I am quite a nice person I think, a loyal friend, honest, trustworthy... I hate feeling like the only bit of me that matters to them is how I look. It hurts. Does that make sense? Yet i am still trying to lose weight!!! (I want to concentrate more on how I feel though, and my health.)

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 22/01/2012 10:53

Can you just tell them that red? It would wind me up too!

Well I weighed in a bit late this morning, had to go straight downstairs with the kids so forgot about it till I'd already had some breakfast and coffee (I usually try and do it first thing). But when I did remember it said I had lost just 1/4 lb.

Am not particularly upset though, I had already eaten/drunk a bit, am still awaiting AF which must be arriving today or tomorrow so is probably making me a bit heavier, and feeling a bit rough so have let myself ease up a bit on the exercise and food yesterday. And it is still a loss if only a small one! So am just planning to stick at it, and hopefully will have a bit bigger loss next week when AF has come and gone.

fivegomadindorset · 22/01/2012 11:09

Red that is a bit shit of them, have they always been like that.

Stacey good news on the dress well done.

I did weight this morning and I think I have put half a pound on. I am not that worried because again it has been a very socail weekend and ending up with roast for lunch and then birthday cake for DD.

I will be good before weigh in and then have a couple of quiet weeks before going to London for a couple of nights.

Ouch MABS hope you recover today.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

And excellent news not

MABS · 22/01/2012 11:40

That would piss me off too Red :( half a pound Five? no big deal as you say, worth it for social stuff :) Dh has just said we going out for lunch damn him!
